Before anyone starts pointing out we are second with 5/ 6 games to go and we've had one of our best seasons we know all that. Comments know relate to the run in and our chances of automatic promotion. let's be honest we. ve struggled a bit in front of goal. Hernandez has come to the aid of the party on more than one occasion. I don't think anyone including me is saying Bamford has got skills - he has. Problem is that for whatever reason he goes off the boil and as a result he is unreliable in the short term ie the run in. Bielsa is showing faith in him which is fine but risky. It's a risk however offset by the fact that anyone else coming in is also a risk -Roofe included as he also has barren spells. We would have benefitted from getting James. Not sure if that's the case if we go up. We needed a striker and didn't get one. It's not that easy. I never thought much of Wood's overall game and he needed lots of service but you can't deny his goal tally. I just hope Bielsa is right and Bamford comes good. My worry is that his recent track record is not great in that respect. Two goals in his last game was excellent but it was against 10 men and he missed some other relatively easy chances. Don't mind him missing chances if also bags one or two as well. Not enough games to come back if we stop scoring again. Don't fancy another slog through the playoffs and I'm only watching.

Not really sure what you are saying here Hesslian? It’s a risk to play Bamford, it’s a risk to play Roofe. With 5 games to go just about everything’s a risk isn’t it?

Spaniard Just a nonsense post, best ignored.

Just for the record, Bambam's 5 goals behind Roofe's tally and hasn't played nearly as many games. Having said that, he seems to be a "streaky" striker, hopefully last night was the start of a 6-game scoring streak 😊.

George. Your back. Or have I missed other posts. Hope you are well and all is good. 👍😉.

We have either Bamford or Roofe as our central striking options. To bring in anyone else at this stage i. e. Edmondson would be an even bigger risk than what we currently have. Not sure what your point is Hesslian unless you are advocating a procedure like in the film "Face Off" and swapping Bamford's face with Aguero's?

Just for the record. Not a nonsense post. There are of course plenty of others around. I was simply pointing out that by not getting a proven goal scorer, difficult as it may be, we are now 5 games from the end of the season. We have been struggling to score particularly against a team of 11 and teams lower down the division. Therefore playing Bamford is a risk and so is playing Roofe and there is nothing that can be done about it. Consequently I don't believe it matters who the manager picks, the risk is far greater than it should have been. Neither Roofe nor Bamford is particularly reliable or consistent and there's no one else. That additional and possibly unnecessary risk could mean the difference between promotion and staying put. We will need a lot of luck mixed with all the effort to make it. An observation. It wasn't supposed to be a thesis. I've done plenty of those to know the difference.

No proven goalscorers? Roofe 14, Pablo 12, Bamford 9 and they've each missed more than a few games.

How about, selling Roofe in the summer and promoting Edmondson to the bench, slowly filtering him in to first team action. It will boost the coffers by a few million underline to the U23s, work hard and the rewards are there.

Think Hess is entitled to his opinion and a little discurtious to call it nonsense. Neither of our main strikers are prolific and yes there are other forwards in other teams who score more. We have who we have and we can argue to the cows come home that we should have brought this player or that player, but we got who we have and Bielsa seems to be happy with that. We could have a Chris wood type player but no guarantee he would have fit in with this teams style of play.

mezzer

How many goals, in your opinion, should a prolific Championship striker score in a season?

10 Apr 2019 19:16:28
Proven goal scorers difficult to buy, sometimes after you’ve bought them they don’t seem very proven any more! Billy Sharp, proving himself again this year when he didn’t really prove anything at Leeds. Teemu Pukki, not really proven. Not sure who you would have bought that would have guaranteed goals?

10 Apr 2019 20:03:24
I've said before, Pukki's having a fluke season, couldn't even make it with Celtic in their tinpot league. I'd rather have a few goalscorers in my team than just one.

Mezzer is right. To call it a nonsense post, is, in itself, nonsense. Drivel. Tosh, and without base. You’re bigger and better than that George. Respect opinion.

Leo.
Never a good idea to sell your Roofe in the summer, not with rain on the way. Unless you know a good Tyler that is! 😂😂😂.

Danny 😂🤣🤣🤣😂.
