So Fulham returning to the championship after a wild summer spending spree and a very small taste of the Premiership!

Seems to me to be a very good example of how not to do it! Over the last few years in the Championship they were a team with a good reputation for playing attacking and attractive football! They spent over 100 million on players plus 5 loans and demoralized some of the players who got them up. Unsurprisingly they then struggled to find their best team and style and changed managers twice in the process! Interesting to see what state they are in when they return to the Championship!

Sadly at the moment I'm frequently dreaming of a Bielsa led Leeds taking on the likes of Man City, Spurs, Liverpool and the other team in red! It will be great to see Bielsa being able to put his wits against those premiership managers with the right resources and recruits to do his job. The biggest advantage of automatic promotion is you get May to move the planning into reality, get the current players sorted and then get your targets ready to sign! Imagine Bielsa and his team being able to get their teeth into that!

{Ed001's Note - they spent the same money as Wolves did, but they spent it haphazardly on lots of players, rather than just targeted a few to improve the team. That Seri is terrible. I remember watching him after finding out Barca were scouting him in France and writing a player profile on him based on that game, because he was so bad I just had to say something. I just don't know what scouts saw in him at all.

Bielsa is not one to throw money around needlessly. So I doubt Leeds would go down the Fulham route but instead look to the way Wolves and Burnley survived and thrived.}

Great points Ed, I didn’t realize that wolves had spent as much, much better results. I’ think we are very lucky to have Bielsa and really hope he gets this opportunity. He will have a good look at every member of the current first team and under 23 squads and the guys out on transfer. To see who could be part of that Premiership adventure. He has shown he can be very tough in those who he doesn’t think will fit and very supportive on those who could!

{Ed001's Note - if he sees something in a player he would rather work to develop that than rush out and buy someone. Shame more coaches are not like him, they all want to take the easy route and buy their way to success.}

Wonder if Fulham will be having a fire sale 😊 that Ryan Sessegnon would be a good fit. Wolves did spend a lot, I think a large part of that was down to the loan-to-buy players they had.

Staffy Parachute money should prohibit a fire sale from Fulham but yes Sessegnon welcome to join us.

Ed001 Good points. This is precisely why Bielsa nor Corberan must be allowed to leave. Together with Radz and Orta they could turn us into a European force again (until Brexit of course lol 😊) and in the right way not by taking dangerous risks.

{Ed001's Note - Bielsa has to stay, as I have been waiting for over 15 years to see him manage in the Prem!}

They got money going up and will get money going down then again going back up good way to get money without having to pay it back.

Georgie, I hope your missing one of your nots!

Ed001.

As you say Marcelo prefers to see things in players and develop them, then wonder why more managers don't do the same. I don't believe there is any other manager in the Championship capable of doing that and they don't have the time to do it in the Premiership.

{Ed001's Note - most managers are too scared of the sack, Bielsa doesn't care, he just does what he wants in his own way. When you are as good as he is, you can do that and people will back you.}
