Just my 2p on the Brum nugget.
For me, it's a criminal law issue, nothing to do with the FA or FL.
All clubs pay for stewards and policing to prevent this kind of thing, which failed. The football authorities have no remit to act on the failings of society.

Completely concur. Utter disgrace.

Well, he got 14 weeks in jail, a 10 year ban from any football ground and a lifetime ban from Brum, home or away.

Oh, and if anyone is remotely interested in Collymore's take on it, he thinks Brum should be docked 6 points and fined half a million quid! ! ! 🤔.

Mmm, tough one this, the stewards are there for a reason! A good reminder that there needs to be enough of them and of the right physical ability to be useful if an idiot runs into the pitch. In today’s world this is a really serious issue. Imagine if a player was killed. No one wants to return to being fenced in but the security needs to be adequate and real fans need to behave. And none of us should encourage the behaviour. Wouldn’t surprise me if there was a “fan” somewhere, thinking it would be a good idea to run on the pitch against Sheffield!

Not sure how you hold the club to blame for idiots. If they start docking points you will have fans from other teams getting in the home end and doing it to get points docked. Clubs can't afford to have 200 stewards and only other measure is back to fences. Think the punishment should come from the law courts and clubs should ban them for life and make sure it is enforced. It is hard to say how you would stop it.

Bige, fair points, I accept it’s hard, but it’s also a legal responsibility, imagine the legal cases if a player or referee was seriously hurt or killed! It’s about whether they have done everything that could be expected, are there are reasonable number of stewards, are they properly trained and are they actually fit for purpose, literally!

I think some clubs have probably got a bit complacent and now is a good time to review plans, numbers and training. No points deductions but serious fines if clubs are found at fault in their level and quality of stewarding.

Look at the legal fight building over the death of Sala and the subsequent finger pointing. If a player got stabbed, fences would probably go up overnight and nobody wants that.
