Thinking about Saturdays game against Bristol City.
BIGE Should appreciate this, amongst others.
A good few years ago, when I was a callow youth, I went to college in Bristol, or Brizzle as the locals call it. Being away from my beloved Leeds, and in those days the only live football on TV was the FA Cup Final, I was deprived of football. So, I used to watch Bristol City one week then Rovers the next.
One day City announced that they were going to play a testimonial game for John Atyeo, (too long to explain who he was, so Google him) and to my delight the opponents would be LEEDS UNITED! Imagine my delight.
Of course I went in all my Leeds regalia (actually it was a scarf) . I think I was the only Leeds supporter there. I still have the program and wondered how much it would now be worth after so long, so looked on eBay. £0.79! Seventy nine pence! It was going to cost over 7 quid just to post it to someone.
Anyway, Leeds duly turned up and the attendance was 17,425. Before the game Jackie Charlton and Norman Hunter ran round the pitch with the Jules Rimet Trophy, which England had won earlier that year, yes, this was all in 1966.
The Leeds team that day was,
1.Sprake, 2.Reaney 3.Bell 4.Greenhoff 5.Charlton 6.Hunter 7.O'Grady 8.Lorimer 9.Madeley. 10. Giles. 11.Johanneson. Subs. Harvey, Lumsden, Cooper (Liam's Dad
😉) Bates, Storrie and Eddie Gray.
Needless to say we won 4-2. Similar score on Saturday would be good, but better without the 2 conceded.

Wonderful memory Tewit! What a lineup and the World Cup as well!
Today in his press conference he talked a lot about the importance of fans and how much time he has for the real fans and how important they are. He said that most parts of the game have become commercialized and it has had a negative effect. The only part of the game less effected is the true fan. He described it really well as the fan behind the goal who screams to support the team even though they can’t see everything!

Mobile = having a car, being able to get about.
Gay = happy, carefree, jovial.
Bad = not good.
Pin and chip = used to join things together and fried spud slices
Tweet = noise a bird makes
Spam = what you put in your sandwiches.
