As a matter of interest. Can I have thoughts on why the dramatic diff between qpr and Brom?
Was it the way qpr played? If so. I know it's harder when teams defend but we should still have enough about us to break them down.
Or could it be lack of effort from players? If so. Why?
Or did Bielsa not prepare them the same? Did he not feel they needed motivation for qpr?
I hope he has posters in dressing room saying Bristol wanted to dock points and maybe take a break this week from early team announcements.

I'm putting the QPR game down to "just one of them things" 🙃.

Aus. The small pitch really did not suit us. They had a cup final approach and we could not break them down. Lost their next game as well, we go out and well beat Baggies with a top performance makes me think lads had one eye on Baggies game and left 3 its in London.

With this current squad, I never apportion defeat to fatigue but rather that we were unable to get into our "flow". Somewhat non-descriptive, however when we are playing well passing is accurate and crisp with player movement giving the passer multiple options. Games such as Birmingham, Hull and QPR, our flow had been disrupted by fair means and foul. Also when we score first we have not lost, in these games we have been chasing the game against a defensive formation and have been hit with the sucker punch.

QPR - 0-0 at half time, loads of chances, didn't take them. They score a goal from a rare chance and then sit back and soak it up for the rest of the match
Baggies - 1-0 in 16 secs. No choice but to try and get one back leaving them exposed for more damage. 2, 3 good night. One more when they were dreaming of sleeping it off in their bed at home. Had we not gone ahead in the first half we might have lost that one as well.

in short - first goal is crucial otherwise the opponents confidence grows as do their chances of scoring a goal against our less-than-perfect defence.

Spot on Alf. First goal is and was the key. They score and the just sit back bank of 5 bank of 4 and on a small pitch very hard to break down. Especially when we do not have the Saiz type of tricks and flicks player. We just never got into our rythm, or rather they wouldn't let us plus they had Luke Freeman having a blinder.

Don’t agree Alf. Think first goal always is a plus but how many times have we salvaged something from being behind? More so than not I reckon.
This season is a season of winning the game in last 10 min more than any I can recall.
I got no stats but just memory!

lots of factors,

they sat back and we like to play on the break

we missed a lot if we got first goal they would of pushed we might of got 4

one of those nights

we were poor, second to every ball, no urgency, want up for it and nothing come off for us

most teams are like this i can not think of one consistant team in england at the moment including the big guns.

Man U berm? Yuk.

No need for that Aus, restrain yourself.

16 times when we've scored first or early goal and we've won them all. Think this was a stat shown during the West Brom game.

Great question Aus!

I sometimes think Lady Luck has more influence on games than many would care to admit. The West Brom game had the benefit of the impact of the QPR defeat and the benefit of the home crowd. The players were clearly pumped up massively for the Brom game, can you do it to that extent for every game.

Then the goal after 17 seconds, great move, showed the attacking intent, coopers head, ball goes to Harrison and Hernadez has a chance that many times wouldn’t have gone in. If it didn’t, the effect of the fired up start wears off a bit and the crowd gets restless. Bamfords first was a class move but the second also many times would have been blocked or gone wide. On such inches, games change.

The start of the second half at QPR was where we really let ourselves down. Came out looking lazy, and off the pace, they created a good chance and again by inches it came off.

But I think we needed the QPR defeat, it’s an experience we can put in the locker and learn from. We will never know if we would have produced that performance against Brom if we had drawn or sneaked it against QPR but I suspect not!

The Coaches and Bielsa now have a double whammy that they can use, how the boys felt after QPR and then against and after West Brom.

Crap answer but if it was easy to answer we would have been crowned champions already!

alf, did the Baggies really try to get one back? 😁😁😁.

07 Mar 2019 13:51:05
Is that some kind of Tourettes Aus?

07 Mar 2019 13:53:09
Not very successfully AL but they couldn't just sit back and shut up shop.
