When we beat Stoke in the August sunshine we had 12 shots and 5 on target and scored three goals. Against Bolton in the Feb sunshine we had 21 shots and 8 on target for our two goals. We probably had our luck in winning 3/ 1 against Stoke with those stats and didn't against Bolton. Also against Stoke everything was a pleasant surprise, now, that kind of play, possession and chances is expected. Also on day one Stoke didn't know what to expect from us, the teams do now!
I went back over the extended highlights and we did create some very good chances, if they had fallen and we had won 4-1, we would have hailed the same performance as great but with only slightly different stats.
The point is, we are still doing lots of the right things and the things you need to do to win games. We are giving ourselves the chances to win games. We need Bamford to nail the finishing and perhaps some time for Brown and Clarke both of whom can also put the ball away. As some other posters have mentioned as well, I'd have Edmundson training with the first team and possibly bench whilst Roofe is away, just to give us another proven goal scorer who can come on with 20 left if we still need a goal.
I know Bolton wasn't our best performance but the stats show, we still did enough to be able to have won it more easily.

Teams also treat games against us as their cup final, we are still keeping pace with the other teams around the top. Our all out attack style, high pressing game does leave us open to the counter attack. Getting an early goal does help our style rather than the continuous chasing the game when we are behind.

Agreed guys. We are doing the right things, just not finishing them. Edmundson on the bench sounds good as is the importance to us of the first goal.

Mezzer's hit the nail on the head, every team we play think it's a cup final, look at Bolton, roll over against the six-fingered farmers then give it a real go at ER. However, if we score first we usually go on to win.

I thought we played ok actually. Watched it on Sunday evening.
Our style and fitness is hard to play against.
Better now we have new goalie. Ayling and Roberts still need dropping. Jansen and Alioski were very good. Think Bolton upped their game and defended well.
We def need better finishing too. About time shacks and Izzy got game time.

I’m hoping Clarke will be in the under 23 squad tonight Aus, fair post Aus, looking at the highlights we had some great moves.
One more point. How many teams have beaten us 1-0 in the league this year? None! Unless I’ve missed one. You have to score 2 to have a chance of beating us and 3 or more to be sure! That’s a tough ask for teams that park the bus .

I think that there's only 2 games that we haven't scored in, whether it was win, lose or draw.
