Let's see what happens at Birmingham. I can see Redders holding down the job for a couple of months at least.

Not a rumour as such but more of a discussion point perhaps, but does anyone agree that Lucas would be worth a punt as coach, . if he was interested that is, and of course if MC has him in his 'water-melon cross hairs'! Personally I think he would be good, and would help us defend properly and close games out, something we have struggled to do in recent years. Also given that we seem to have on paper at least plenty of attacking prowess.

{Ed013's Note - I believe The Kop Cat has been fired ;-)
Also should inspire players to try hard no one wants to make an 8 foot killer kat angry, not sure his body language is always right though. Still a bloody step up from hockaday.

Robbie Fowller allied for job

Has Fowler actually done all his coaching badges then? And will MC be able to understand his Scouse accent?
Last time he graced ER it was a big mistake - well past his shelf life and looking for a big wage packet….didn't we go on paying him for Lord knows how many years after he left? Can't see him being the answer to our problems or prayers somehow……no thanks Robbie…. jog on.

Sorry I don't think u have a clue, Robbie fowler was a good player for leeds but we didn't need him, and we've only just finished paying his wages because he said we should pay them when we can cause he don't need the money, so I think fowler would be a good choice for manager

Well Delboy, I've been watching Leeds for 52 years, including most of the games Fowler played for us, so I think I DO have a clue. My view, as opposed to yours, was that he did OK for us but definitely pulled up no trees and certainly did not live up to his previous reputation. As I said, he was well past his sell-by date. "Good choice for Manager"? I don't think so, but I'm happy to hear what other posters might think.

It's just at the time leeds didn't need fowler, we had viduka smith keane and bridges, so we didn't need him, but if we didn't have as many strikers he would've done better

Was he not top scorer in his first season at leeds? think he was a good honest player. played at top level so should know what he is talking about. would prefer a proven but he could be a good young unproven coach. we all start somewhere he might just be the next great manager? who knows his c.v as player ticks all boxes

Fowler scored 12 goals in his first season (01-02) and 2 in 02-03. Given the £12m we paid for him, that's £857, 143 per goal. Fair return?? Draw your own conclusions.
In fairness to Fowler, he was signed with a pre-existing hip problem (nice one Ridsdale) which kept him out for most of 02-03. We sold him to Man City at the end of that season for £3m, with a further £3m based on appearances, which we never got as he wasn't at City long enough. I agree with Peterborough White - we are not a testing ground for trainee managers. Give Clarke the job, someone else well experienced if they'll come for the money, or let Redders carry on if we get a result against Birmingham.
