Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

09 Jul 2012 23:10:04
I don't want to write our season off already but is anyone else a bit under excited about our squad
Paul green-average
Adam drury-average
Jason Pearce-average
Varney,Norris, kenny are not world beaters think we really need some marquee signings like beckford
Would have loved Danny murphy
Hope I'm wrong but it's not a top six squad do far
Come on warnock
Russjon

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Drury will be the best left back we've had in years. pearce played well against us twice. green always played well against also his versatilty will prove an asset this season. as for the players linked norris, kenny peltier would be class three players in positions we desperately need and depending on warnock's backing we could players with a high reputation that might bring a bit of optimism to the leeds fans.

Keep the faith mot.

Agree3 Disagree1

Totally agree except for Pearce I think is a great addition especially for the small fee we payed for him.

Now que the "stop being negative and get behind the team and we're not real fans".

Honesty is becoming a thing of the past with us Leeds fans and if we continue to pretend we're bigger than we are we're gonna be a laughing stock like Liverpool living on past glory.

Agree2 Disagree2

I'm definitely with you, yes there is still talk left but were not half way from getting the amount of players we need, but got to say Pearce is class and will be the beat defender this club has seen for years, need a lot of more players of his class if were to get promoted which I'm seriously doubting

Agree1 Disagree2

I'll take the opinions on Pearce and accept I may be wrong but varney is definately not class nor is peltier or kenny and I've seen lots of football from those 3 players
I'll always keep the faith but won't be putting my usual £10 on Leeds to win the league
Hope I'm wrong but think time will unfortunately prove me right
Let's take some risks and spend decent money on decent players cos once that crazy tv money kicks in next season it's gonna be the 3 that come down that go straight back up so it's s#t or bust this year I reckon
Russjon

Agree1 Disagree2

I think we will have a few good players in before the start of the season. NW knows what sort of player he needs.

Agree2 Disagree1

Maybe you'd be even more unimpressed with no new players.. ?

6 weeks ago we were looking dire, now the world is ahead of us and you still moan?

God, no wonder we suffer.........

Agree2 Disagree1

Youve gotta think that these players played for average teams, Greens a good little player, even if he did play for Derby and one of the worst managers ive ever seen in Nigel Clough just trying to live off his dads name and failing

Agree2 Disagree1

Talk to any qpr fan and they will tell you that kenny has been their player of the season for the last 3 seasons.

Agree2 Disagree1

They probably won't seen as tarabt was the championship player of the year the year they went up and can't see him getting it last year with goals they shipped can you
Russjon

Agree1 Disagree0

Well the three qpr fans in my local do, got them up and kept them up according to them, anyway do I have faith in warnock yes thanks, due to the little fact of 7 promotions out of this league, do I have faith in you? er how many promotions have you achieved?

Agree0 Disagree1

Errm
I'm a plumber and I work for myself so I suppose I can promote myself to whatever I want
But your still talking s##%e because tarabt pretty much dragged qpr up to premier league and mark Hughes rates kenny that much he signed rob green
Also where's your local and how much of qpr have your friendly cockneys see from your local boozer
Stick to FIFA clown

Kenny, Peltier, Norris and Varney all to be secured this week, with Cox, a surprised winger and centre back to follow...
ConnorMOT!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Hi, Cox, a surprised winger and centre back?
I can understand, two different postitions when he is a striker.
Such nonsense.

tRip

Agree1 Disagree3

Will he be surprised because he doesn't know he's coming yet and we don't aswell.
mot4life

Agree2 Disagree0

TRip that was a completely obvious different sentence, grow up lad

Agree2 Disagree1

Think he means a suprising winger and cb

Agree2 Disagree0

Hi, two things, (at the risk of a ticking off from Ed).
The name is tRip, not too hard to spell properly, given that I sign my posts with it.
And, a sentence usually ends with a fullstop, and the next one starts with a capital letter, completely obvious that post did not.
Back at you, another example of people who go on banter sites, but cannot take banter.
tRip {Ed045's Note - usually I would delete things like this, but this is not an English lesson, we have all sorts of ages posting on this site and may not be as literate as other people, keep the posts on STRICTLY football please.

Seems to have all gone quiet again on the takeover front. But no negative voices coming out of anywhere in regard to it not happening. A friend of mine who is trying to buy Bradford Bulls (despite nonsense by adminstrator) is a good friend of one of the Leeds players...they haven't been told any details apart from something is happening, but even they don't know. Obviously Warnock has been told (otherwise he would have walked) and the green light has certainly been given to sell Clayton. I can't see Warnock selling Clayton without a replacement in mind. In terms of buying players...not happened yet even though players lined up. Interesting point about confidentiality, the new owner must have some serious clout to maintain the secrecy for so long...he/they can't be lightweights to pull off of this, and secondly the names linked with Leeds are normal run of the mill ones, the proper marquee signings not been rumoured yet. By the way...everyone has gone quite today...wonder why that is...me think its imminent

Believable5 Unbelievable2

I'd rather people go quiet than making absolute bull up and building everyones hopes up, takeover will happen when it happens, I think it's time now to just forget about it and stick to the player rumours, freebies as per usual

Agree2 Disagree1

It has been a very quiet day although there are still signs that things wont happen for at least a couple more.
There has been no real mention of imminent signings from the media...especially from those who are close to the club.
The team are due back for training on Wednesday....certainly wont be the sort of team we were expecting.

Agree1 Disagree1

Maybe warnock as seen green as claytons replacement which leaves us exactly where we was a month ago in terms of strength only difference we have some money from selling clayton

Agree0 Disagree1

09 Jul 2012 22:28:56
Leeds to sign -

GK - Kenny
RB - Peltier
LM - Varney
CM - Norris
all these could be completed in the next weeks .... possibility of ambrose and beckford not too sure if we want them in our squad tbh! would be good to see beckford back at ER though!!

Believable3 Unbelievable2

09 Jul 2012 22:16:22
Imo the signings NW is making are squad players and when the takeover is complete we will move for some better quality of player ie kilgallon, maybe beckford. So i wouldnt panic just yet, NW brought some good players to QPR and had a good chance of avoiding the drop. Maybe he dosent want the players that people on here are mentioning, i mean they are usually free for a reason. And the clayton situation is simple, NW dosent rate him as he played well as a free roll and looked like a headless chicken when Howson left, I mean NW did transfer list him to be fair. Also with Snoddy i would take 3 or 4 million for him as long as we have already got replacements in place as Gradels departure left a huge hole, we need more pace and snoddy cant run bless him. MOT. Vinny.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Very true. I love snoddy but when he moves up, i'm sorry to say but lack of pace always gets found out in prem. I would give him 2yrs at most before he would have to drop back down to the championship. Sorry snoddy but i speak the truth.
mot4life

Agree2 Disagree2

Any manager with half a brain (including warnock) would look to develop snoddy and move into the middle of the park where his lack of pace will not matter as his brilliant passing and football intelligence will take over.pity you have none of these.

Oh well another Possible target gone! Luke Chambers signed for Ipswich today, how many more can we afford to miss out on whilst waiting for this potential take over or investment?. i hope that this take over or investment materialises and we can buy players that are better than the ones we are missing out on, after all he was a FREE AGENT!! how cheap have they got to be?.

white4ever......

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Who said we were actually after him? Maybe Warnock has other better targets? If he was never a target we can't have missed out on him can we?!?!

Al1977

Agree2 Disagree0

If you read my post correctly you will see I stated POSSIBLE target, mainly because he was widely rumoured to be a target for us.

white4ever......

Agree1 Disagree3

Think it came down to wages and we carnt garantee any big wages until takeover is complete and plus warnock might of thought them sort of wages do not fit the player value.

If snoddy goes then we should at least get 5million. I would say thats enough to put together a great squad for next year.
LufC

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Does anybody really value snodgrass at £5 million
Massively overrated in my opinion and goes missing too often
Russjon

Agree4 Disagree0

Snod is worth far more than 5 million to us right now, but unfortunately not to anyone else, so we would get ripped off, yet again....

Agree2 Disagree0

How much is he worth then
He really is overrated and not worth anywhere near £5million
What would he be worth if he signed a new deal then
£10-£12 million
Get real

I have been exceptionally positive looking at what a takeover could mean to Leeds. But watching as all our "targets" are gradually being taken by our Championship rivals, leaves me with a feeling of, at best frustration and at worst doom. (Oh not another season like last one).

It seems as though the only ones left will be too expensive or not worth having.
Why is being a Leeds fan so painful.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

If you don't know why supporting Leeds is so painfull, then perhaps you havn't been around too long,

Leeds, the power and the glory, keep the faith

Agree1 Disagree1

Come on Takeover!! We're missing out on all our targets for the new season due to the time it's taking for this takeover to happen.
Chambers has signed for Ipswich now that it's taken so long to sort out whether or not we were having him because of the delay in an announcement..... another target gone....how many is that we've missed out on now?..... We need a decent takeover now to make up for all this!! Plus Warnock selling Clayton was a very bad move!! :-( Come on Warnock show us all your success in promoting teams! Too many years of bad news for us LEEDS UNITED Fans!! In Warnock we trust!! MARCHING ON TOGETHER!! - Jonny C (Big Leeds Utd fan!)

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Hi, I can comment from a position of complete ignorance, so I ask how is it that you know "we're missing out on all our targets....?"
Are they players you want, or players the manager wants?
I, unlike you, do not know Neil Warnock, so I all I can do is wait to see who he signs.
I must have missed your post on the Pearce, Green and Drury signings.

tRip

Agree2 Disagree0

Get a grip mr patronising I think it was common knowledge that chambers was a target like ward and if he wasn't then there is summat up as a good centre half on a free

Not sure with all the rumours that we'll have a good enough team to win the championship, but what do you think would happen if we had a team like this?

Kenny
peltier Pearce Lees? Drury

Snodgrass Green/Norris Rogers

Varney Diouf

Becchio/Cox

In a 4-3-3 formation
I'm not sure if the team will end up anything like this just interested if people think it could win the championship? I haven't heard many rumours on another center back instead of lees so i put him in?

I will now post on here more often Ed

hope for some news on the take over as soon as possible as theres too many teams sniffing around our players and targets and im affraid we wont keep/land them. hudds fans and an official site claiming hudds are set to land mcCormack, izale mcCleod and also bring lee peltier (1of our targets) back home

"We definitely need new players in if we are going to be successful next season and Neil certainly knows that.

Obviously, the takeover is still ongoing and when it happens, with money going into the football club, it will be a big help for Neil to entice the players he wants."

A quote from Eddie Gray.
Obviously, the takeover is still ongoing is music to my ears, coming from someone a little closer, perhaps to what's really going on.

I suggest reading Vince hilaires interview in the YEP about varney and Norris, few people including myself disagreed with signing older players but he strongly believe we'd have two very strong players there, especially in Varney, not a rumour but just thought some would be interested

A lot of talk about formations at the moment, and I wanted to give my thoughts. Personally, I would love to see us playing with a dynamic 4-5-1 formation. 1 holding midfielder, 2 creative / ball-playing midfielders, and 2 wingers with 1 main striker. The reason I say dynamic, is this can easily play as a 4-3-3 when we are on the attack, with the 2 wingers becoming optional strikers, whereas it can also revert to a 4-5-1 when we are not in possession. It would suit Snodgrass and McCormack (if he stays) quite well with Becchio in the centre. It also allows us to pack the midfield when we lose the ball, and keep possession a lot more easily when we have it with the extra guy in midfield.

We saw it in the Euro's, the team with 5 midfielders controlling the game somewhat, as they always have that outlet. Plus, if we get some real quality in (which I am really looking forward too / hoping for), along with the great support we have, we would be pretty formidable, especially at home!

MOT! WMS!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Exactly how Grayson took us to 7th with Gradel, Snoddy, Kilkenny, Johnson & Howson as the first choice 5 man midfield. Letting 4 of those 5 go last season completely undermined Grayson and destroyed the team when a little bit of investment in January in the back 4 would have made the difference between 6th and 7th.

I agree completely that 4-4-2 is predictable and often ineffective in the modern game. Most of the top teams play 4-5-1 or 4-3-3.

Won't happen under Warnock I suspect. He might get us out of this division with his launch and run, hit and hope football but he won't keep us up that way which pretty much sums up his yo-yo history.

This isn't a rumour, just a question for people to think about

I have read a number of posts regarding the current takeover/investment of the club and the sale of everything (including Elland Road and Thorpe Arch). In the posts many people have been hinting as to who actually owns the ground and training ground. I know that it could be that papa smurf doesn't own these, but what do people think about my theory that they are in his wife's name and he does actually own them in a round about way.

Just a thought

Personally this 12 of July rumour I think is rubbish and people assuming dates in their head, money have to be paid to Creditors blah blah, ok so now we all wait till thursday, then waiting all day and ...... Nothing, so then we shall get told the buyout has been signed and bates has gone but.... We have to wait for an announcement from the club but that doesn't come, and then do we get told the buyers need a CEO again, dragging into next week and Woohoo a new date has been set for the takeover? This is just becoming an absolute joke, I think this rubbish should be just put to bed now and just keep quiet till something does happen

At first i was taken a back a little by the OS announcement concluded with "We will not be making any further announcements in the near future."

12th July is KB's last day. He planned the takeover from day one and made some real profit from us, never invested the money for kasper, max, johnny, fabien, and then sold the club to some rich middle east guys. Obviously im happy that hes sold but people behind the scenes knew for a long time. Anyway glad hes off, so thanks KB but if you hadnt of bought us to start with someone better would of. I look forward to some clean sheets and some dominating performances. MOT. Vinny.
