Leeds fans I hate to be doom and gloom but wake up and smell the freshly ground coffe ken bates will be sipping in Monta Carlo's cafe de Paris. He will use this investment story as an excuse come August as too why we haven't signed anybody and our current squad will all gave greedy agents wanting more money. Unless he goes we will always be a championship / league 1 team on league 1 budgets but premier league prices and crowds.

Dark days ahead unless bates goes ! None of this get behind him and he saved us c£!p. he put is in administration and is holding a potential English giant back !!

Rarther a person than a C£&T !

Ed who would be your worst manager's we've had at our club and anybody else who knows of any others that deserve a mention go ahead and make a list? Dale leedsmad {Ed013's Note - Well, the worst placement could be Clough, although a great manager he was not the man for Leeds. The best managers have been mentioned. With a bit of luck Neil will add his name to legendary status. I also admired O'Leary for bringing the youth through}

Not so much of a rumour, but why dont all leeds fan get money and get the club back for the fans and kick on with player the fans want :)

Believable1 Unbelievable1

That's 40,000 fans putting in £1,000 each just to buy the club (roughly) then ask them for another £1,000 to run the club bring in new players and pay wages. If I had £2,000 spare yu could have it pal. Phil Bramley

Agree5 Disagree3

Leeds only has 40,000 fans??How about 80,000 put in 500? or 160,000 put in 250? or 320,000 put in 125 pounds each?

Previously I didn't think that Bates was that bad and he was just a shrewd businessman. But if this was business (and being a Director myself I have some knowledge of business structure) chairman or not he has a responsibility to his shareholders and fellow Directors. Also being the figurehead of the business his actions come under scrutiny. he has lost the support of the fans the main income stream into the business, he has lost the respect and trust of his players, whose performance decides the success of the company, this will ultimately effect potential sponsors and investors which it already has NOT the fans but his behaviour! Therefore considering all of these blatantly obvious points a vote of confidence should be put forward by all sections of the business. Phil Bramley

Believable8 Unbelievable1

Bates's record in business is actually very poor. He's never run a really successful company, has always courted controversy and seems to have scraped through with bravado and a lot of luck. He's often been the subject of official scrutiny from the FA to Parliaments and courts across the world.

Chelsea was in a similar position to Leeds under Ridsdale and somehow he managed to sell to Abramovic for a 17 million profit.

i seriously think that when bates' stiff dead fingers are eventually broken off to unclutch them from our great, great club, we will enter into a period in our history that most of our mighty fans have probably forgotten that they actually dreamed of us ever reaching. Is it time for the giant to be awoken?

Hi Leeds Fans

As an anxious fan of the mighty whites... Could anybody deliver any good news on here... Its all seeming to be bad news now and the hopes of a takeover/investment going out of the window....

None of us know the real truth obviously but would it be safe to say Leeds are not going anywhere fast.. Do we all share the same views...

Dodgy rumours are the takeover ones especially given the reputation papa smurf has....Come on Bates do the rite thing and move on.. Allow this team to be great once again...

To all those Leeds fans who think that Warnock has been brought in due to a take over and he's a good boss with the cash then wrong. I'm not a Leeds fan, Huddersfield in fact. He was our boss a few years ago and worked miracles with some dross. Warnock shops at Matalan. He makes the best out of a t-shirt and jeans. Give him the brass to go to a proper tailors (QPR in the premier) and he buys a suit that doesn't match the shoes. He was employed because bates wants a crack at success on the cheap. Leeds don't deserve a con man like bates. Get him out of football. Ooo too be a...

The whole situation stinks of a campaign generated by Bates to drag all us fans through the summer in the hope of something big only for it to all fall apart in August and leave us high and dry, with no time for Bates to dip those short hands into those long pockets.
At no time have the club suggested there was a takeover happening, merely the statement of possible investment which could mean anything but more importantly (and obviously by the way people have got carried away with it) can be interpreted in various ways, Sadly i feel we have a long and dissapointing summer ahead of us.

Although we don't appear to have a great deal of chance, I would just like to ask all our fantastic fans to join me and wish the boys well in the competition. Just read on SSN Paul Jewell's comments about transfer activity and I quote "not many deals get done so early in the summer", so let's all calm down a bit.

On one hand it's hard not to get carried away with the takeover talk, then on the other hand the merchants of doom post all sorts of theorys.

The facts are, we've signed one player early doors for £500k which to me shows good intent. We missed out on another but apparently he went to Palace for personal reasons and they offered the lowest wages, so probably true.

All in all, we're not inbad shape IMO, so let's keep the faith lads and enjoy the Euro's.... come on Ireland!

Warnock will know exactly what is happening at ER even though he has been o holiday! So to the people saying Warnock will be getting frustrated etc.. Stop getting worked up on rumours (probably written by fans of scum, Forrest and others), sit tight like the rest of us and wait until a deal is done if it is to be! Yes the chances are we may not get Killa and Hargreaves, but what do you expect we're in the championship, we're not the team we used to be. Chill out!

Why does everyone keep saying wait till August July for signings and mention paying their wages early! What sort of a club are we??! If we are planning a squad overhaul which, is what NW has stated he intends to do, we needs players ASAP. How is he going to mould and integrate 10 new players and have them playing as a TEAM if they are all last minute!
New players will need all the pre season training and games if we are realistically going to hit the new season running and in good form.
Im sorry but having 11 players transfer listed or whatever it is and 4 not signing contracts is awful and just one new player in!? The morale and spirit must be at an all time low....this needs to change fast IMO. End of July and Aug will be too late. MJ

Believable13 Unbelievable2

Any player living away from his family in an hotel for months on end and having to travel miles on his days off to see his loved ones wont perform as well as one who lives locally and is settled. As Paddy kenny tweeted last night... nice to get my future sorted... the players feel the same way as the fans. Lets get it done, know where we are, get settled in and get playing. They dont want to be looking for homes and living out of a suitcase until the New Year because they werent signed till August!

Well, here goes.... All Leeds fans... What do we think about the following players...
Aidy White is he worth a much bigger pay packet.. If he loves the club as he says then it shouldnt matter (it wouldnt to me)

Ross Mccormack Ok he bagged 19 goals last season but still dont think he has proved himself as yet and wont renew his deal anyhow...Wants a bigger pay packet cos he scored 19 goals lasy year.. Would he do it again( open to debate I guess)

Rob Snodgrass the heart and soul of leeds utd... Loves the club and wants us to be successful.. The ambitions of the club havent been met by the so called board..

Adam Clayton... For me not a great midfielder and i think there is better quality in this division than him... Works hard ill give him that but final pass and technique let him down...

So who do we believe could replace these players in the new coming season.. I believe Warnock when he says he can bring in a much better calibre of squad....But they have to wear the shirt with pride not just for the wages...

Marching on together..

Believable7 Unbelievable1

Replace mcormack but other than that no, if we has the fund available to us with possible takeover then try to keep our best players, I personally like clayton would like to see him prove himself even more next season as all he wanted was a payrise, like most of us bloody well do! It is his job at end of day, you telling me you never asked for moremoney from your boss.

Sussex White. MOT!

Agree2 Disagree0

Absolute rubbish.... Every last word. Clayton not that good?!

Agree6 Disagree0

Talking out your arse bruv! Bet you liked having him last season. Only got your knickers in a twist because he wanted more money!

Sussex White. MOT!

Agree1 Disagree2

Sorry but a good start to the season doesn't make you a good player. Clayton, as well as many others, were below par for the middle and end of the season. you could easily replace him Danny Guthrie? My choice would be Stuart Holden. I'd keep McCormack and Snodgrass because a goalscorer and a man who can create things out of nothing are very useful, plus they will play far better with more quality around them.

Agree0 Disagree2

Claytons been playing the role of Harry Houdini since Warnock arrived, vanished in most of them games

Agree1 Disagree3

Funny, people were saying that about super Jonny Howson when Clayton was playing well.

Agree2 Disagree0

A lot of drivel here - Clayton was our best player last season.

The players are underpeforming because they demoralised and under valued and all this 'I would play for Leeds whatever the money' stuff is immature, disingenuous drivel.

FACT - Leeds offered Howson a 10% increase to £4,400. Norwich offered £20,000. There is not one person on here who, if they had the talent to be a PROFESSIONAL footballer, would turn down a 500% salary increase and the chance to play in the Premiership.

Footballers are not fans - they are doing a job. They have very short careers and often have very long retirements with little or no income. My son recently bought a holiday from an ex Leeds player who now works in a travel agent in Meadowhall. Another ex player is a personal trainer at my local gym. Is that what they expected when they were playing European football or in the England Under 21s?

Who in their right mind would turn down the chance for a better life for their family just to play for one football team over another? I love Leeds United, but I'd put my wife and kids first every minute of every day and I'd be very suspicious of anyone who wouldn't.

Agree2 Disagree0

Dont think anyone at Norwich is on more than £15k per week. It's their wage cap

Were not hearing anything about the takeover/investment. But at least one thing has been cleared up, at last we know why we can't sign anyone. Papa smurf needs the cash to pay his legal feed. Where has the figure of £4m come from. I don't think even Bates is stubborn or stupid enough to spend £4m defending a case where the judge has ordered him to pay £10,000. Further who says it is LUFC money and not his own. And don't say they are the same thing because they are not for tax and accounting reasons. JD.

Believable4 Unbelievable5

Very nieve post

Agree1 Disagree2

It's 4 million in court fees since he joined, not just the most recent one like some are saying.

Agree4 Disagree0

Original poster needs to follow the news a bit more closely. The judge in the Levi case asked where the money had come from and Harvey was forced to admit under oath that LUFC had footed all of the legal bills. It's in the court transcripts and widely reported in the press.

The 4.5 million is the total sum of all of his court cases across 7 years all of which are documented in the public domain.

does anybody think nw was away on holiday with zero contact with bates, harvey or the outside world - he will have been in regular contact and will not be coming back to any shocks.
what really annoys me is that the recent court case which has finally silenced gobs**te bates, has probably cost the club £4m.....how many players? either already sold or possible targets is that?

Believable3 Unbelievable3

Bates has not cost the club 4m

Agree1 Disagree2

The £4m is the estimated legal fees Bates has paid out during the time at Leeds, not just the this weeks Levi case. Unless he goes that will continue to rise because he has cases in the pipeline verses WYP and a further case to recover £190K from Levi. BATES OUT!

Agree1 Disagree0

08 Jun 2012 11:43:12
Having now read that the judge overseeing the latest KB libel case state that £4m of Leeds United money has been wasted, then I have at last no other choice but to add my name to the Bates Out campaign. Think what we could have achieved with that investment on players last season or this pre summer. KB thank you for rescuing us but now I see the true cost, you have no interest in this club and are just asset stripping it and using it for your own agenda. Go now.

Neil Warnock's future at Leeds is in doubt over problems with his transfer kitty.

Warnock came back from holiday to find that none of his targets have been landed and may even quit if chairman Ken Bates does not deliver the promised cash.

The straight-talking manager claimed he had been offered a budget to give Leeds a shot at winning promotion to the Premier League when he joined in February, but the reality has been different.

Warnock teed up a handful of moves before leaving on his summer break, and many of those targets have now gone elsewhere - or stayed at their clubs.

Sources close to the 63-year-old claim he is ready to resign if there is no immediate progress.

Hi all - does anyone else think there could be anything to rumours I'm hearing that this investment/takeover talk is merely a smokescreen for inactivity and multiple court cases, all of which Ken Bates will lose, all through the summer?

Personally, I'm not sure what is going on, as the club has been incredibly tight lipped, and to me it doesn't sound like much progress is being made. {Ed037's Note - There is evidence that the investment talk is ongoing, yet we won't find out what's materialised of it until it's finalised}

Believable2 Unbelievable1

No. It is a fact that whoever it is doing a takeover/investment has been showed around leeds city and thorpe arch. Whether they invest or not is a different matter. {Ed037's Note - No, it is fact that the investment talk is ongoing, i never specified what stage the investment was at, please don't try to argue over stupid things}

I don't know who started this Lorimer rumour but not true at all. Even Phil Hay just twitted that he asked him and is not true. I think is just groups of fans putting pressure on Bates and co and trying to squeeze some sort of news. Same goes for warnock. I think this I'd a critical time for United hence everyone is being coy. One thing is for sure that this is s new level of fans unity and is having an effect on Bates. My disappointment lay with Lorimer as all fans are waiting for Warnock to enlighten the fans, a man we all used to have a go at while s club legend who we all adored refuses to engage with the fans and at least give us some sort of hope for the future. This is the last time sir I will call you a legend.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Wasnt Lorimer appointed to the board initially as someone to be a link between the board and the fans? Sadly he quickly forgot his remit and became a yes man to those giving his freebies. The fans are not stupid and on many occasions this season Lorimer has disagreed with them in his YEP column only to back track at the end of last season. The fans can see what needs doing, Warnock saw it too but PL still disagrees. No longer a legend or a fans representative within the club. Go now and we might forgive you.

Watching the video of Mr Levi outside court makes me wish he was back on the board of directors at Leeds. He spoke eliquently and surprisingly without malice against Bates, not sure I could have been so generous. My points are 1. If as wuas stated Bates has cost Leeds united £4m that same £4m could have been used to retain the superb players we've lost or buy new players which would have got us up last season to the premiership. He is not prepared to pay higher wages yet IS prepared to fritter away a huge amount of money on his ego and stupidity.2. This as Mr Levi has stated brings into question his fit and proper status as a football club owner? Should that be the case would this not include the football league and potential sanctions against the club? We really do need a new Mr Bates to go he has become a liability we can no longer afford. I vote a move of no confidence y the remainder of the board and shareholders. Phil Bramley

STAND UP KEN BATES!!

You have single handedly gained at least 24 seperate postings on News Now today, and that is only on the threads I haven't previously deleted? Shame there isn't a single mention of one player coming into Leeds (apart from crass speculation from the Yorkshire Press who clearly have absolutely nothing else woth speculating on - aren't there any dogs being run over this week??)

You certainly know how to attract media attention, albeit for the wrong reasons?

Much as I am grateful for the takeover bid that you successfully put forward to rescue MY team I am desperately trying to wonder why you have spent so much of MY teams money pandering to your own personal conflicts through MY teams Media and now expect MY team to pay your expenses in losing yet another case?

If the rumours I hear this morning about Peter (Lorimer) and others resigning, I seriously hope it won't be long before you are gone too? I do still have time for Lorimer (and Gray, etc, having actually paid to see them play)

It's took me a long while to realise that you really DON'T have the interests of the club at heart, which is ironic seeing that the better Leeds do the more you would earn by it?

I would thank you for what you have done in the past, if you are leaving us, which I seriously hope you are, for the sake of MY club.

I have been around Leeds for well over 40 years now, and hopefully a few more years to go too, but I have now had enough of this. Time to go, or I will NEVER come back to Elland Road untill you have gone.
