Am I the only who is seriously underwhelmed by our potential coaches, I know some would say we are not a big club anymore, and in some respects that is true but, if MC is to be believed and the resources are made available over the next 2-3 years to get the team promotion, you need a top coach to use those resources effectively. Leeds I believe is still a big job for a manager and we should be able to attract bigger names than the three supposed ones being interview today Whether you call it a coach or manager you still somebody to pick the team, set them up, run the game.

To do that effectively I believe you need an experienced person not a coach of an academy team or someone who has only managed Forest Green or someone who to be honest was okay the first time round, but has no proven success.

I would have liked to have seen Malkay, Clarke, or someone up and coming, that has proved themselves with a reasonable sized club, this is a big decision and I hope we do not rue an opportunity to get the right person in. This is not an anti MC rant I support all the things he has done so far at Leeds, I just hope that he does not think that he is the main man at sorting the team, and that he does not need a big name name coach to run the side because I believe we do.

I think the point is Mark, most of the big names are managers, they don't fit the scenario, good coahes are generally in the background and not as well known. Cellino has huge experience from Cagliari and knows what he is doing, we have to trust his decision

Agree0 Disagree0

I can see whee your coming from mark but!
MC at Calgari used youth with a mixture of €500k players, whoever sourced these players was a god send. MC sold these bargain buys for up to €10 mill to fund the running of the club as gate receipts were low and he was NOT allowed to develop the stadium.
Obviously LUFC is a different kettle of fish, will he invest millions on players?
Personally I think you might get 2 or 3 for a million each and a few youth players being used but NO big big investment.
As for the coach I don't know, would you get a big name for less than £50k a week? NO and that's over 2 mill a year which MC won't want to shell out.
He went through managers/coaches like peas in a pod at Calgari so his selection skills leave something to be desired.
You can't fall out with managers that quick so it suggests MC interferes with the players/team/tactics, personally I think it's unhealthy but we have to give MC time and back him for the next 18-24months, after all he did save LUFC.

Only my opinion but the future looks a lot brighter than 3 months ago ;)

Andy
Top call ( you had a clearer head than my last txt bud lol) I also like to add whoever we will get we need to get off their backs, not slag them off.as some on here always do.as soon as they join us wether it's players,, managers/coaches or any other staff member they are coming to us to do a JOB we all pick holes in them, their not good enough!their poor, cheap etc etc
Let's give them a chance let's embrace them they are joining LEEDS united so let's be bloody UNITED YES SOME WE MAY THINK ain't GOOD ENOUGH FOR OUR MIGHTY CLUB ( but ALAS our mighty club is only mighty in the eye of the beholder unfortunately) till theses new people joining us make us mighty once again.so embrace all enforcements that join us and maybe
Just maybe they will not be terrified to put on our mighty shirt and play for OUR MIGHTY CLUB! And they may lead us to the promised land once again?

Give mc a chance
He has bought leeds. Tried his best to cut costs and debt
Now he is selecting his coach. Whoever he chooses, let's get behind him
His record at calgiri with limited income ain't bad!
Let him try his way and if it don't work I reckon he is smart enough to realise and change
He is a bit. I am. But give the bloke some space
Let him do it his way. Its his money

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cellino is no fool and He will not suffer fools gladly.Any players not willing to pull their weight and earn their wages can pack their bags now!.

Tommaso Giulini yesterday poured into the coffers of Cagliari Calcio 8 million Euros, the "down payment" which establishes the official ownership is transferred.

Think we have a smarter chairman than we thought.

cant get planning permission for the stadium
USA consortium comes in says yes but only if planning permission is granted
permission granted
USA falls through within 24h of receiving it
24h later sells to his mate
48h later fist payment made on the deal

dont you just love it.

Absolutely certain he will be making all the final decisions on who we sign.
I suspect that he won't be spending big, so not expecting any marquee signings. Bet he goes with Hockaday as coach and he will be gone by Xmas.
The 'coaches' is door has begun revolving.

As Cellino has already proved he doesn't suffer fools, why are Leeds being linked with some of the weakest managers around, media talk to sell papers and get web hits me thinks who have obviously put 2 and 2 together and got 5, British managers who are out of work = the tosh we are being linked with!

The Chairman has to have more vision than Hughton, Clarke, Hockaday and McAllister, hasn't he.

Unless of course, in football Management circles the "Leeds Job" has become about as desirable as a Ginger stepchild, then if the bottom of the proverbial barrel is all we have, then hello league one, administration and beyond, here's to yet another shameful and sorry season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lovin the optimism here. Wow. Get a grip mate. It'll be all gooooooood! Mot

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought it was obvious to all on here now that he isn't looking for a manager, he's after a coach which is totally different, and to speak of administration /division 1, is crazy, he's sorting Leeds out bit by bit, so heres to Prem football in a couple of years.

Agree0 Disagree0

1) Why can't people understand the 'I want a coach not a manger' statement? HE'S LOOKING FOR A COACH NOT A MANAGER. All of those people have proved themselves as coaches.

2) Given that he's run Cagliari for 23 years without financial problems and taken them to Serie A, why are you assuming the exact opposite will happen at Leeds?

I'll admit to not being Cellino's biggest fan and he wasn't my preferred owner by a distance but I really don't understand why some people won't even give him a chance.

Baffling, negative post.

Wonder if Robbo77 complained about Ginger Strachan, no need to be Gingerist!

Anyone else worried that our chairman will be choosing which players to sign? Might work in Italy not sure it will here.

No mate not worried at all nothing has worked for the last 10 years so this want hurt! Mot

Agree0 Disagree0

No, not worried at all!

Agree0 Disagree0

Its his money so I guess he wants to spend it how he wishes.
I wouldn't mind being his coach, if the team don't perform then its his players that he bought!
Its a win win situation for your CV ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not worried at all coach says we need a winger he gets the best one he can I don't see that it is that much different. All this crap that works in Italy won't work here I think is very very narrow minded.
And as people have said already why would you want to keep to a system that hasn't worked for us in the last 10yrs. People are scared of change that's natural but if it wasnt for change we would all still be wiping are Ars** with grass.

I believe the coach should do exactly that! MC has got it right! Fitness, selection and tactics are the coaches priority, not finance and horse trading ( and we have had our share of nags!). I am 100% behind MC - he is not a fool and he knows that this is a fresh start - he wants to be a legend in the football arena and if he uses Leeds to get there (legend for the right reasons - of course) then I am happy with that - we wanted passion and we have got it! Here is to getting back to working hard and getting results! COME ON LEEDS!

Agree0 Disagree0

Absolutely not, can't be any worse than the last manager's choices!
