Just a simple one: Why are you so called fans obsessed with J.Beckford, he was one of the most big headed players we have had for years, he thought he was bigger than every one else at the Club, he caused a lot of crap behind the scene, and Finally he is NOT Leaving LEICESTER Dont you check Sly Spurts Views, Now will you plz let it drop........MOT
MJB66

Believable4 Unbelievable5

He was big headed but if you support Leeds he was very likeable too and anybody who scores as many goals as he did will always be held in high regard by most of the fans. I thought he was listed by Leicester, he showed where his true loyalties lie in our last game against them.

Agree3 Disagree2

Leeds fans really make me laugh at times! All this nonsense being said about why we shouldn't be selling Clayton, who only had about half a dozen decent games at the start of last season, while at the same time a player who achieved a lot for the club, ie Beckford, cops for this nonsense!

I'd welcome Beckford back yesterday. If we'd kept him we'd have been in the Premiership by now.

Strewth!

What shirt am i wearing bruv, leicesters..........hes lucky 2 b wearin that....... id take him back 2 er for nothing stick him in the reserves where he belongs

Pretty unfortunate for Billy Paynter scored 20+ goals in league one for Swindon 4 of them against Leeds anyone remember that? And I was buzzing about us signing him and then he became a donkey at our club.:/

Believable3 Unbelievable4

I honestly was really excited about getting paynter he is a good striker, he has just had his problems with injuries and then finding form when arriving back from injury, I really feel for him, he is the butt of every supporters jokes now which is harsh, I'm sure he will go to another club and have a fresh start and get his form back and show everyone that he is a good player

Agree2 Disagree3

People that say that he scored his goal in league 1 and can't make the step up to championship are talking absolute rubbish, he is more than capable or being a good striker in the championship, just needs to find the form and I'm pretty sure he will be knocking alot of goals in at his next club and we will we watching wishing he did that for us, good luck billy

Agree3 Disagree3

League one striker thats why

Agree3 Disagree3

If McCormack goes we will keep him and he will have opportunity to show what he can do. NW has said that both paytner and McCormack were too alike and a choice had to be made to put paytner on the transfer list, cos he needs something different. I wonder if that 'different' will get signed?

Agree0 Disagree1

Paynter's never been good enough for the Championship and he's proved it yet again at Leeds.

Agree1 Disagree0

Paynter struggled to get sharpness back but did look good in 1 of his last games he played but then got injured again . i think he needs to drop down a division and get that sharpness back and then try championship again

Does anyone else think our squad has got/will get weaker (assuming McCormack and White go)? I mean Green is worse than Clayton, White much better prospect/potential than Drury and McCormick a proven 20 goal a season striker! So surely we need 2-3 top class replacements. I am also miffed at why we sell 2 quality keepers (again assuming Lonergan goes to Bolton). We are taking away the best part of our team last season and if we don't get some star players in soon, will definitely be an average at best side next season.
BTW i think Pearce is a very good signing and will be a great prospect for our poor defence. Creative Midfielder's and Strikers please Neil!

Believable4 Unbelievable7

I think Warnock is a better judge of players than you mate, enough said.

Agree7 Disagree5

It's not all about the quality of the player, its also the desire to play for leeds united needed

Agree4 Disagree1

Our team last season did not have a best part! we do not play Wolves until 18 August, it is now 7 July, why not judge when the window shuts rather than when it has just opened!

Agree4 Disagree0

Green at this moment in time far far better than clayton, but we need more and better midfielders to get out this league, Ross is good and worth keeping hold of but he is not irreplacable but it's just the fact we replace them, we never did under Grayson but let's hope neil does, if we don't get a takeover and able to increase wages, then there is no way we ware getting promoted, I will put alot of money on that, the club needs to show ambition and put the bar higher, as it stands no chance and we will be watch championship football in 2013/14

Agree3 Disagree1

Clayton s gone from Man City, to Leeds and now Huddersfield, via MK Dons on loan.... Does this strike you as a player who s career is on the up? Or am I missing something? Reading his interview, about how excited he was to be joining Udders, I could nt help think back to when the much loved David Weatherall (great song) said exactly the same thing when he moved to Bradford.
Jonny H.

Agree1 Disagree0

White and drury are 2 different types of player . white has pace and not so good at defending but can recover his position if caught out.
drury will of been brought in purely for solidness . to sit there and be in the right position at all times . last season we let way too many goals in and warnock as changed the defence already .once we can stop conceding goals then we concentrate on the attacking side of things

met leigh bromby in the gym today (DW) and he said the players know just as much as the fans and that he's loving it with NW, didn't get to ask him much but he looks fit and well

How can he be looking fit & well with the seriousness of his injury? JH

I think people are forgetting something here...! 4 all the people moaning about beckfords work rate his goal scoring record was better than anyones in league one and without his magic touch agianst bristol rovers we'd still be in league one!!

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Good point well made !

Agree5 Disagree2

Yeah, but you are forgetting he walked out on our team for more £££s?

You can be the best player in the world, but if all you want in life is money, then so be it.

Highly rated player or not, he ain't Leeds, he's a Money grabbing thingy....

Agree3 Disagree3

Correction....** without his magic touch we'd still be in league one!

Agree1 Disagree2

Ffs Beckford was a windscreen fitter for kwik fit when he was playing at wealdstone. He didn't get a big wage like most footballers from day one. When he first joined us at 23 he was still on virtually a pitance, but more than what he got at kwik fit. You can't blame him for trying to make some money so he can retire after his career, of which there is probably only 5 years left, as his pace will have gone by then. At 27 would You sign a contract to stay at a newly promoted championship club when you could try the prem league and maybe get 3 or 4 seasons top flight football??

Agree2 Disagree0

But the way he left was wrong! nothing wrong with ambition but he line is pockets with a big signing on fee and leeds got nothing! o.w

Agree0 Disagree0

For 1 beckford didn't walk out on leeds as when he left he was not owned by anyone.

Have been looking at this site for ages. Now if your a player woyld you go to a club where the future is uncertain or ken bates is in charge. Wouldnt you wait to see what happens. Look at how we have signed and who we are linked with
Ex pompey players. Pompey in meltdown. Leeds okay stable 1 division adove. Simple choice.
Prem players Woodgate Bridges campell ect safe or lufc with no one knowing ehats going on.
Now it makes sence footballets are in it for what they can get ie league 1 or Lufc or safe champ clubs boro brighton or uncertain Lufc.
Until Ken goes no one of note will sign Would you.
Warnock is dping yhe best he can with limited funds a la grayson( look who hes signed now the chairman trusts him)
Until Bates leaves this is it. Warnock doing ghe best he can. No major ie expensive wages playets to lufc until ken is gone.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Have you had a few early shandys lad?

Agree3 Disagree0

What makes you think that Mr Warnock, was intrested in Woodgate or Bridge?
I'm sure he keeps his targets to himself, as we found out with Dury.

Agree3 Disagree0

10 out of 10 for the bl**ding obvious,

Why would we want the has been woodgate, etc?

Lets just wait and see what happens and move on accordingley?

Tired of reading.... "are any of you concerned like me... Blah, blah, blah...."

No I'm feckin not concerned if an average player like Ross the toss manages to double his wages by going to hudders. Backing or not, Huddersfield will be in the same boat as a dozen or so other champs teams by the end of next season. Skint and disappointed with another season in level 2

takeover or not we are now solvent. If it takes another year or two to get into knobhead land of the rich and plenty I don't care as long as when we go up we can stay there and compete without going through another ten years of what we've had. Too many people on here lured into the prem/sky tv dream. It's football!! Most of us have hacked around or even played decent football on crap pitches, no changing rooms and paid for the privilege. And have we enjoyed it.... Course we have... We've all scored wonder goals, got bladdered and gone home with something we shouldn't have. They're no different this us so stop giving them exalted status... I'm confident for the season. Neil will get it right.

What I am concerned about is my job, my house and my family. We're in a feckin recession if no one noticed so stop concerning yourself on average footballers that may or may not bother there arse giving 100 percent every week.

Some self pride.. We're Leeds and we don't care, raise the roof at ER and make every player embarrassed if they don't perform by singing our hearts out.

About time someone talked a bit of sense, there are too many people obsessed with ken bates and how he is going to shaft the club. why on earth would he? who would benefit if he did? he would be lambasted by the press and the football world, not what he would want to be remembered for. and even if we were taken over we cannot spend big in this division, FACT!
we also dont want players who have let us down last season, even if you think they are quality that is not the only important thing in a player, attitude, temperament, work ethic and behavior are also important to a manager.
We will never see that side of a player so i will trust the managers decision as hes in a better place than me to decide!

Agree3 Disagree2

Well said mate, sick of all the whinging myself.

Agree3 Disagree1

07 Jul 2012 14:08:43
Look I'm bored with all this trash talking of players, we should judge them in a Leeds shirt and not on there past not all signings need to be big name players think man city robinho ( sorry about the spelling) world class from real Madrid would you want him or joe hart bought from Shrewsbury unheard of..... Which one was the better transfer I'm not slagging us fans off but we need to stick together and march on together.....forever Leeds kevlufc...

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Some have not seen them play at other clubs but some have, obviously not every minute but seen enough, and the rumoured players are good but not good enough to get promoted, maybe top ten but not auto promotion places, are we going for promotion like new said or are we just after a respectable league position? Need a few class players if we want to take take step up, not talking premiership players just a few top players from this league, need a squad that are capable of taking the step up to the premiership, and the squad as it is would be an embarassment to club and the fans, the club has to start showing us a bit of ambition, if not they should just shut up and not rising expectations of the supporters

Agree1 Disagree1

07 Jul 2012 13:37:50
The takeover being put off til the 11th or 12th cos of the 5 years after coming out of administration story is a realistic explanation for the delay..if its not completed or no details announced about it then ill start to doubt it..until then im hopeful that that it will happen

Believable1 Unbelievable4

It makes no difference if it tomorrow, the 12th or a month later, it happens when it happens, think it's best to just forget about it

Varney will prove a success if he signs, I for 1 will give him my full support his work ethic is amazing and I don't care how many goals he scored for Portsmouth it's what he does in a Leeds shirt were he should be judge, remember forlan in a dirty red shirt totally different too the one in a athletico 1. let's get behind anyone who sings old, young or a ex-player ..........marching on together kevlufc.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Totally agree with you mate, he may become a star at Elland Road, I for two will welcome him with open arms!
ConnorMOT!

Agree4 Disagree0

We bought barn door Billy after 2 good seasons with Swindon scoring goals for fun, then he came to Leeds and to stay he couldnt score in a brothel would be a massive understatement,so getting Varney from Pompey after a poor season and a few goals and injuries could well prove to be a very shrewd move by Sgt Warnock....MOT

Agree3 Disagree0

In Neil do we trust until he gives us a reason to do otherwise?

Original poster, totally agree with you all to many fans get caught up in players pasts I'm just interested in there futures and that's if they even end up in the mighty white shirt.. Let's march on together ....kevlufc

i really don't know why we are signing players from a team that have just gone down i know there good players but not we need to get out of this league we need the likes of Beckford or some one like Ricky Lambert that can score goals for us

Team next season in my opinion:
GK: Paddy Kenny
RB: ??
CB: Pearce
CB: Lees/Lee Peltier
LB: Drury
RM: Snodgrass
CM: Ambrose
CM: Green
LM: ??
ST: Varney
ST: Becchio/Beckford/Norris

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Varney can play either wing so beck ford will partner becchio ............kevlufc march on together

Agree2 Disagree0

Go to sleep. you just in 1 sentence contradicted yourself . we are buying the better players from a team that went down due to a point deduction. what do you want us to do buy the worst players from a prem league team that just stayed up.

Agree1 Disagree0

Can't see that team striking fear into the hearts of other championship managers and players, can you?

Agree0 Disagree1

Norris is a central midfielder! Peltier is a right back! You are an idiot!

Clayton now saying he wants to play somewhere where he is wanted?

Actually, Clayton, you were wanted at Leeds, unfortunately you wanted MORE MONEY than you were offered, so lets be honest why you left, shall we?

Believable10 Unbelievable6

Maybe it was his greedy agent that wanted more money . players should just sort themselves out with a team things would run much smoother .

Agree5 Disagree1

Back in the days before agents and player power footballers were mercilessly exploited by clubs - take a look at how our Revie legends are now having to make a living. Irrespective of the Clayton situation, don't you think it's a bad thing that other clubs are taking our better players year in year out? Pay peanuts....

Agree1 Disagree4

He cant have wanted too much if huddersfield can afford it

Agree0 Disagree0

No, actually I believe you have to realise that in the long run you need to consider yourself, because your agent won't be there once you stop earning, they are leeches.

It's not just Leeds former players that have a problem, it's all previous players of all previous teams.

At the end of the day I take whan I can, job wise and maybe not think too much about the future, but I do give 100% in return for my wages, in the hope I will be looked after, rather than bite the hand that feeds me and know I won't....

Can people stop slagging beckford off! Yes he deserved a bit of stick but really? Let's say your a window cleaner who works for his dads company (there is loyalty there) but you clean downstairs windows for an average wage. Your dream is to clean upstairs windows, even if you don't know that you will suceed. Then one days rival company not only gives you that chance but they (more than) double your wages. What do you do?!! You go and try it. What does your dad do when it doesn't work out and you come back with your tail tucked between your legs? He welcomes you back with open arms! He says "son don't worry, I knew it was too early for you. Stick with me and one day you'll get that chance again. Let's have him back please neil!
Or dj Campbell ( he's probably a better player anyway)

Grahamc

Believable5 Unbelievable1

I totally agree with you graham, he i getting too much stick and if he comes back and bangs in a few goals (which hope he does to be honest) the all of us will shut up giving him stick.

Agree3 Disagree0

I for one would love to see jermaine back. To all the haters, if he does come back you will see how the real fans feel. I would put a cheeky wager on the new away kit selling very well and every other shirt having beckford printed on it.

Agree2 Disagree1

Well said mate. He's scratched that itch now & I believe he genuinely regrets going. He deserves a second chance.

Agree1 Disagree0

Let's have them both if Ross is packing his bags I'm sick of people wanting ex players back but I really think jermaine could possibly come back, and we all know how well he partners up with becciho

Agree1 Disagree0

With the teams that have cme down plus with no real service do you think we will give him 10 15 sometime 20 chances a week to score 1 lets look to the future not back because if he des come there will become rumours about kandol from there partnership in lg1 first season lol theleeds 09

Agree1 Disagree1

He was nothing when he came to us , we gave him a chance and he took it . but to hand in a transfer request with four months left on his contract when we were 10 pts clear at the top of league one was was 100% disrespectfull . if he wanted to go at the end of the season then fine but to hand in a request when we needed him most was wrong . after the request he scored 6 goals and was dropped by grayson . the club now needs to move forward not go back ' when the takeover is complete we will have no problem attracting quality players who will give 100% every game

Free agents, good players, would do a job, premiership experienced, wages won't be ridiculous, realistic players that fit the bill, if we cant players like these then were just not the same leeds united any more, and I'm sure if we signed these and the signings of each of them stood out TA holding their Leeds shirt up with their number on the back and sporting a huge smile then I'm sure no fans would grumble and feel enthusiastic, Neil and club want to get to the premiership and say they have ambition then these are the sort of players to add to the squad to bolster strength and depth, cmon Neil get the job done and make it easier for your self next season

I dont want to worry everyone but am starting to think this is all going pete tong, if we got money coming why are we buying sub 500k players. If we do get taken over its gonna be with a consortium of people who got no cash at all, if the buyer had billions it would not take this long and there would be no way our top players would be leaving. Sorry to be negative.....

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I agree....what new owner in his right mind (if he had money) wants a team of 30 + year olds. I think we have a problem with the takeover and NW is scrambling to get a team together. Good sound defence with the players we brought in, so IF it does eventually go through we can fill a couple of midfield positions and spend a bit of money on those, and one class act up front. (by class act I mean Beckford as I still rate him. He played a bit part at everton and still got 12 goals. MOT fredh

Agree3 Disagree2

My concern is not about who we are bringing in its more who's going out . had we of brought in the players we have and was looking like we was going to keep our better players our team would of looked a bit like this...

lonergan

thompson
lees
pearce
drury

snodgrass
clayton
green
rogers/white

becchio
mccormack

but with the players going or gone we are going to look like this before we buy..

lonergan

lees
o'brien
pearce
drury

pugh
green
thompson
rogers

becchio
paynter -off aswell but no more players available at moment

Agree1 Disagree1

Calm down weve got a whole squad to rebuild, neils started with the free agents and making the most out of portsmouths plight, as the investment/takeover money becomes available then he will have the chance to buy the better quality players who command a higher price, some of these will be signed pre-season but others will come in january

Agree1 Disagree0

As much as we would like to Billionaire owners and I for one now believe we will... Its not all about going out and spending silly money on under valued players... Take Kenny for instance a very experienced individual at this level and can do a sound job in the championship.. People believe we should now go out n spend 2 million on a player everytime we buy someone.. No we need experience and ability at this championship level... Why do people think we shou7ld spend millions all the time.. We have a limit of 6 million to spend due to the new regulations.. Warnock will build a tyeam capable of winning promotion. The owners will not bang in 100 million straight they will wait until we hit the premier league first. For instance we buy Beckford at 1.5 million.. Bare in mind he was sold to leicester for 4 mill.. He has raw pace and ability and will do a sound job in Leeds(as he did before) plus 15k a week. OR do we sign Peter Crouch for 5 mill.. Wouldnt want to play for us but but would still be getting 40k a week its dead money...

Lets be positive Leeds fans and believe in Warnock.. His record speaks for itself and will build a team capable.. MOT
