Wouldnt worry about cup performances I mean just look at the other championship clubs most of them did a lot worse thn us

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whos worried?

Agree0 Disagree0

Play like that all season if we win but know what your saying but a lot of good players to return yet plus I think Austin has a point to prove I think he will be much improved this season I know a lot of people lost faith in him but the guy has obvious talent as does byram and diouf we will be fine much better people looking after things now even feel a little excited : )

I think we have a lot of potential this season. It would be a shame to see it go to waste because of no more signings. Two more and we should all be happy, I really think we can make it to the playoffs this year. But we need to keep most of our team. There are of course the obvious fringe players who need getting rid of, but I think that everyone from Kenny, White and Mccormack to Varney, Pearce and Tonge need to stay. Pugh, Druryand maybe Norris need to go. I would even say Peltier but he seems to be the captain for this year. I don't agree with it but oh well. MOT lads come on we can do it!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Peltier fully deserves to be captain he's 1 of our best dnt b short sighted

Agree0 Disagree0

Peltier needs to stay due to byram injury

Agree0 Disagree0

Unfortunately White has little to offer this team and is taking up a wage, off load if possible.

Agree0 Disagree0

Norris? Norris is decent, does a job if needed

Agree0 Disagree0

White needs to be the first out of the door, not good enough for Leeds.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nah I agree. Peltier really isn't captain material at all. Haven't really seen him muster much leadership.

Was at the match tonight. can honestly say cb is well needed but er was buzzing

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was at game too, 17466 attendance, and yeah it was buzzing!

Agree0 Disagree0

It was flat as. I missed leeds 2 goals due to coming late, and for leeds 2nd goal I was at the ticket office and I heard a cheers and we presumed it was chesterfield scored it was that quiet until some1 said leeds had scored. The game its self was crap, the atmosphere was quiet, and the players didn't want to be there, not taking anything away from chesterfield but if that was a tuesday/wednesday night against anyone in the championship we would of been taught a right lesson. But don't want to end on a negative, so we were awesome against brighton, matt smith and luke murphy have been good signings and we've been linked with bringing in some more signings, which is good news :D

You must have been at a different game than me pal. I thought it was a good atmosphere, finally feels like the cloud of doom over us has gone. We coulda played a lot better but you've got to be happy to win with a lot of fringe players. And credit to Chesterfield they came to have a go, and knocked it about well

Just heard on radio Leeds after the match that Ross wants to stay and Brian mc is happy with him do there's no story there.

Also the rumours about Matty Taylor are completely untrue.

He also said that he is working on something as we speak.

In Brian we trust!

I do hope Ross doesn't go but he has in the past dismissed any ideas he's going on twitter, this one he hasnt, just that he can't comment on speculation. only thing that could change is mind is if boro promising mega wages.
Money talks as we all know.
Then again I wouldn't b surprised to see him sign a new contract. shrew leeds

smith on the wing white up front and Norris at centre back what is Brian thinking.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We aren't playing like that. Why would you even have an idea like that?

Agree0 Disagree0

This is based on the tv app which is notorious for having the positions all over the place! Take no notice fella!

Agree0 Disagree0

He's thinking its a cup game so why not give a few fringe players a run out no harm in that at all

who would agree to selling mcormack for 1.5m + emnes to middlesborough I know it's very unlikely but I would be happy with the deal.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

R u mad? Nobody would agree. Mot with ross.

Agree0 Disagree0

No. Ross is the spark of life in our team, if we sell him we can't get that back, and there'll be no chance for promotion. No chance. Everytime he comes on the pitch he creates something.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but emnes plus 1.5 mill dream on emnes is better than mccormack you would need 2 pay us.

Agree0 Disagree0

No don't agree either.
for a top striker yes maybe but emnes not a top striker in my eyes.
jamie mackie would have been a good buy at this level but he's gone to forest.
maynard on loan maybe an option. shrew leeds

That would be a dream move

Bury have confirmed signing a championship player on a season loan. Wondering if it is any of the deadwood? We have had links with Bury in the past.

Also - Does anyone know of tonights game being streamed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could be Killock/Dawson, neither of them in the U21's or First Team squads tonight, can't see any of our deadwood dropping down to League 2 unfortunately.

If it is what time and where?

Quite clearly a rough estimation of costs but if possible I think Leeds should do the following:

Sell Byram, McCormack, Norris and Pugh.

Byram = £5m
Wage = £5k per week * 52 weeks = £260k

McCormack = £2m
Wage = £10k per week * 52 weeks = £520k

Norris = £250k
Wage = £10k per week * 52 weeks = £520k

Pugh = £250k
Wage = £10k per week * 52 weeks = £520k

Total = £7.5m
Total wages = £1.8m
Grand Total = £9.3m

Sign the following:

Rowe = £1m
Wage = £10k per week * 52 weeks = £520k

Maynard = loan
Wage = £15k per week * 52 weeks = £780k

Mills = £1m
Wage = £15k per week * 52 weeks = £780k

Adomah = £1m
Wage = £10k per week * 52 weeks = £520k

Sharp = £1m
Wage = £15k per week * 52 weeks = £780k

Mackey-Stevens = £1m
Wage = £10k per week * 52 weeks = £520k

Total = £5m
Total wages = £3.9m
Grand Total = £8.9m

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Its so simple, why the heck ain't I running a football club

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably because you would sell 2 of our best players.

Agree0 Disagree0

So you re signing these players on 1 year contracts?

More likely these type of players you ll have to sign on 3 year contracts. So you ll have to triple these wages.

So this is probably why you re not working as a highly paid financial director of a football club. Although Peter Ridsdale also couldn't add up either, so maybe you ve got a chance.

Agree0 Disagree0

Because nobody wants pugh or norris.

Agree0 Disagree0

You ain't running a football club as you have failed to notice Adomah has already been taken.

Agree0 Disagree0

Way too low valuations -
You really think that Macca is worth 2m? I'd be expecting at least £3. 5 from a non rival and up to £5 mill from a rival team
Seen as there is no immediate need to sell I'd expect at least £7m+ for Byram - we got £8M for Delph in league 1 (with add ons)

We have a top half first 11 team once everyone is fit - we looked good on Saturday, and I'm sure McDermott will get the best out of the players. No need to panic we've waited 10 years another won't harm if it means we keep our assets.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mackay stevens is worth more than a million and why sell bryam and mcormack would rather stick with what we have than sell r best

Agree0 Disagree0

If it was only that simple

Agree0 Disagree0

To all the replies. I and the 2nd reply and didn't "formulate" the origninal post. don't want people to think that.

Guess the sarcasm didn't come through. And I agree, with most of you, you can't sell our best players and just assume the other will move on. No one wants them and they are happy to see out their contracts knowing that

I'm no business man but there's a few on here saying that the reason BMC is aloud to sign 2 more players is due to Saturdays croud, I seriously doubt that a board who keep looking for investment on a daily basis would sanction 2 lots of wages and quite possibly 2 lots of fees on the fact we've had 10k more for our one and only home game so far, I doubt they would be that naive and blazay about it. Not saying its not true but I would more likely believe its that they have found more investors to pump money in. I for one hope the crowds stay up that high end because eventually come jan if we need extra players and crowds are still very high then possibly they would sanction moves for players on that basis but surely not after one game. To be fair though either way I'm delighted were adding to the squad. And feel free to correct me if some more educated people know more about the business side and think that I'm wrong. Gfh doing a good job in my eyes, slowly getting it done on the pitch and in recent weeks quickly getting a lot of trust back from the fans as that crowd shows

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You could be right, however I did say "MAY" be linked.

But I will say that I based this on future projections,

ie. let say for argument sake, 10k extra fans cam to the game, at £10 per ticket (will be higher, I am just staying on the safe side) that's £100k extra.

We then project this across the coming games at home, on average 2 a week, with increased attandances would bring us 200k extra monthly revenue allwowng us to sign the players (covering their salaries).

In the long term yes, investment would be even better, however I believe the 2 extra players would be based on incomne projections.

Lets not forget a few years back, when we got the replay in the cup against Arsenal, Simon Grayson commented that the gate reciepts alone from that game allowed us to bring a loan player in (i think it was Paul Connely).

either way it don't matter, BMD can sign 2 more players and that waht all of us here wanted to hear.

Good on ya GFH

DS

Agree0 Disagree0

2 a month, not a week. obviously

Agree0 Disagree0

Last years wolves game payed
£28 x 24000 = £672000
this years v brighton
£20 x 34000 = £680000
sorry just sayin
gaz1966

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair gaz has a good point. Ticket revenue not as high but always better to have more fans at er

Agree0 Disagree0

Short term costs are meaningless if it means we can get to the PL, and if we get there then GFH will be rolling in the dough. We need home support if we want to reach there so if I were them I wouldn't mind sacrificing ticket revenues. Also, last year we had home games of only about 17000, I think this year we'll be at least 20000-24000 for each game. If not then shame on everyone.

Agree0 Disagree0

That is an additional 10k folk buying food, drinks etc. It all adds up. Would love to see 28 - 30k on a regular basis at ER.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaz forgets the profit from Programmes/Food/Beer though.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gaz remembers bates sold the food franchiase to compass plc 6 mths before he left on a 2yrs deal leeds get nothing even if they sell a million burgers. that moneys already spent in Monaco
gaz1966

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree extra costs on food/drink and so on, but uve also got extra expenses in catering staff, security. Bates said last year if he opened the upper tier it cost X amount of pounds regardless of how many fans went up there, so if we get enough fans to open everygame great but I don't think it will profit them to open it much this year

If James McLean is available at 1.5 mill I really think we should be going for this quality of player good old fashioned winger reminds me a lot of Milner but a extra step of pace personally I don't agree with his political views but everyone has there own opinion so let's go snap him up

I would say the fantastic crowd on Saturday will have given GFH the confidence to let BMD have enough cash to buy two more players. 33,000 must have generated plenty of revenue not only in tickets sales but also in programmes and store sales. With TV cash coming in for Leicester, Sheffield. Wed and QPR plus 2 huge crowds again the cash should be available. JD

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not even close to being enough to support extra signings. Signing a player on a 2 or 3 year contract needs a more predicable income source than a couple of big gates at ER. So we either reduce our outgoings (sell a player or two and get their wages of the bill) or increase our regular income (sustained investment over a reasonable period of time).

I think BMC is still looking for a striker. Number 9 is still free? But I'd prefer to see 2 wingers or winger and centre back come in. Unless he plans on using rudy at centre back?

That would welcome 2 wingers. I think the players he's after have got to be free agents. No club would keep our interest in there players quiet.

Peterborough and Bolton didn't with there players.

Your thoughts?

BMD given the go ahead to sign 2 players.

I seriously think this may be linked to the higher crowd on Saturday, with 10k more attending, meaning we probably rasied an extra 100k in revenue. Covering potential salaries for 2-3months.

We just got to keep the crowds up guys.

DS

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If there were 10K extra people that's a lot more than 100K income from the ticket sales alone, without what they are spending elsewhere in and around the ground?

Agree0 Disagree0

Well easy to work out how much was an average ticket?

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd estimate around 80k profit on increased attendance of 1/3.
That'll pay for the winding up of the radio station.
Another few home games like that would be a great showing for the new owners and some purse strings would be loosened. However, I would still be cautious of more signings whilst we still have so much dross overloading the midfield berths

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably, but I didn't want to commit to the numbers so did the simple maths and said £10 extra per ticket.
DS

Agree0 Disagree0

"Well easy to work out how much was an average ticket?

Not that easy, given that large crowds would cost more in administration and control, and a lot would have been season ticket holders, but I think it would still have been far more than the 100K suggested.

So excellent news that brian gets the go ahead to get 2 more players in. For me it would be 2 out and out wingers ( tomy rowe and gary macay stevens ) and then I think we could be real contenders. Mot.
