Who are your Leeds legends?
Mine in order of appearance are.
Sheridan. Baird. Batty. Speed. Strachan. McAllister. Then Yeboah. Kelly. Woodgate. Viduka. Special mention to Bridges who if it where not for injuries could of been a superstar.
And lastly I used to love Neil Aspen. Proper pro.

Cork

Baird was no legend. Good player, tough but no legend.

Were Martyn and Radebe not good enough for you?

Great shout about Bridges cork, would have been a fantastic player . For me Radabe is a leeds legend. Mcallister was fantastic for us as was Batty and Strachan. Thought Hassalbaink was very good too . Most talent and potential had to be Kewell, probably never realised his full potential.

There you go again George telling people what is. The question was who is " your" legend and when I was a kid Baird was a proper heroe in my eyes.
Good shout on Radebe and Martyn the best keeper we ever had imo.
Lanc has a good point about Kewell. He should have been the original Gareth bale.
I forgot to add Chapman to the list.

Don't forget Tony Currie, top top player.

Eddie Gray for me.
I like skillful players rather than hard men!
Also had soft spot for Duncan McKensie. Just joined us at the wrong time I think.

Sniffer for me he's my hero and still is no other player can replace your hero.

I could be here all night with this one. so many great players. All 13 players from the early 70's including Sprake even though he made some howlers. I loved Terry Cooper (not in a sexual way of course) Eddie Gray was a super star and Jonny Giles was a genius. Giles could put a 50 yard pass on a sixpence. Jordan and Chapman Tony Yeboah, Martyn, Robinson, and Kewell was great but typical Australian, Same as Viduka, both stopped playing when we got into trouble (No heart all for themselves) . No one has mentioned Rod Wallace. I agree with Danum, McKenzie was something else, just didn't fit into our style of play but probably the most talented, for those who have never seen him play try to find him on youtube. This is silly, I will be here all night if I don't stop typing. We have had so many legends wear our shirt. that's why I'm so proud to be a Leeds United Supporter.

My first hero was Brian Flynn. Loved Bairds passion in those dark days. Strachan probably as influential as any Leeds player every. Matteo and Radebe who always gave everything. It's so hard to choose. Vinny one amazing season. McCallister and those awesome free kicks .

Agree about Mckenzie. Always pleased to see him on team sheet. A magician before his time. And bridges was unlucky. Great feet and skill
Agree about kewell. Unstoppable on his day but no heart. Vids had heart but one dimensional. Wallace always a threat. Smith great passion but no great skill. Bowyer was great tpp.

I heard Gary Monk doesn't drink doesn't smoke doesn't faunicate doesn't go out but has lots of others bad habits

I wish I could live like the Monk!
I'm just fat and I blame it on the friars;) )

I think we all need to be patient (says the most impatient bloke in the world) . Of course we will be linked with every man and his dog but Monk is only just in and whilst I understand we don't want players to slip through our fingers, we don't need knee jerk either. Let's just hope we get some quality that sets out our 'stall' which in turn attracts more quality with ambition- if you get my driftπŸ™„.

I agree Peacock we have to be patient. I think I've said this every season for the past 5, but we are where we are. However, I am sceptical about Monks 1 year deal. Ok we know Celinio has an itchy trigger finger, but realistically who can we attract when the manager may only be there for 12 months (Assuming he's not gone before) . I don't see any deal for a player over a max of 2 years and let's face it players want security. Here's to keeping our gems and maybe finding a couple more, because I don't see any real coups being done close season, but hey let's be patient πŸ˜‰.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2016 20:34:11
Not sure the players will worry too much about Monks contract and let's face it - it will save us some money when and if he does get sacked. Let's hope it's just a lesson learned by MC and let's hope he is our most successful manager ever - hey why not - I always aim high - I am a Leeds fan πŸ˜‚.

Monk has said he wants to play attacking football. Does this exited people? Is this the best form of defense or leave a poor defense exposed. Also, do posters believe that player recruitment will still be left with Cellino and if so is that a worry?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

06 Jun 2016 11:44:51
Player recruitment will always be up Cellino. His club, his money. Same at every club.
What you mean is how much will he ask the Monk for his input, and how far will he stick his hands in his pocket when he agrees with Monky.

Maybe I'm silly. But we are due are we not!?
Good on monky. He's got balls
Not like don and rovers losers
Here's to a good pre season. A good transfer dealing. And a good season
Go monk.

Could not disagree more Speedy. How many other chairmen (or Presidents) go out and do scouting? He should focus on the commercial aspects of the football club and leave the playing side of things to the likes of Monk and/ or a Director of Recruitment. By all means have the deciding say as to whether a player is financially viable but do not have the arrogance to believe you know what is best for the squad, the previous 2 years transfers prove you do not.

DG, I think it comes down to and depends on personnel to play attacking aggressive football, as we stand currently we haven't got those players, we are too slow all over the pitch, IMO we would need to inject some pace with a no 10/ supporting second striker and at least 1 very quick winger, also think it is important to find a quick solid no nonsense CB to stop the counter attack goals we continually give away, I would then like to see us play 4-1-3-2 system especially at home if the defence improved get rid of the holding midfielder and go attack them in a 4-3-3 but like I say depends on recruitment, I do think Garry will have some say. I have a feeling massimo just might take his thoughts and recommendations on board, let's hope so eh! 😎.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2016 13:46:21
What I mean is will Monk have any imputation and if not and he gets players "given" to him. Do people think this can be successful?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2016 13:53:56
Also if Cellino signs players are they going to be the type who will allow us to play attacking football or will Monk have to improvise tactics to fit with the players Cellino wants?

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Jun 2016 15:46:09
Sure Monk will have some imputation somewhere. don't think cellino actually goes scouting, more like the people he knows recommend players or alert him when available. Must say quality of player is looking better. Cb and winger at nacional look good as does orsini. that's if we can believe the media. Limbombe as well.
