Well Milner has made no secret of the fact he'd like to end his days at Leeds

Milner too good for a mid table championship team

06 May 2017 02:58:18
Sadly he has pretty much been their best player this season, Coutinho gets the plaudits but Milner won more MOM's. Will never be a star player but is indispensable due to his versatility, damn him! why can't he be slightly more rubbish?

06 May 2017 12:32:09
I'd love Milner back but can't see it for another year or two. Imagine our midfield next season, Milner and howson in the centre and gradel together with the homecoming of Lennon out wide.

One of the few that I would welcome back to ER

Also, does anyone think bringing back Becchio to support Wood maybe a good shout?

Agree0 Disagree1

06 May 2017 19:32:20
good player for us lucas and few years ago yes but think he is a spent force and past it. if he could still do it and had something to offer he would of played more this season

06 May 2017 21:03:05
Got you Berm. I was throwing a baited hook and waiting for someone to bite. The good old becchio bait comes up trumps once again.

How come you're always so optimistic Hardy?

07 May 2017 15:37:26
didn't see it as bate mate (look at me rhyming) as think it is a decent shout he was good and maybe could still do a job so not a outragous comment. on bate I just saw beckford and alan smith at TA on their way to ER and monk was in same car

Ed 1 imo the only reason Monk failed in achieving a top six finish is down to the owners lack of financial support in the January transfer window the team didn't need two wingers and the fact he didn't use Barrow supports my opinion he didn't want him want the team really needed was an attacking midfielder and a centre forward to support Wood.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - ok, I was just wondering how people felt about him. I know a few Swansea fans and they were upset the club got rid of him.}

05 May 2017 17:34:27
good question ed. I am 50/50 well maybe 60/40. I think monk did many wonderful things and deserves so much praise and on whole hope we keep him. His improvment of us defensively was amazing as was some of the football we played and how well he used chris wood and got the most from him. however end of season was relegation form 5 points from 21 i think. his inability to improve us going forward or find a plan b, poor use of bridcut who went from amazing last season to P@@s poor this season, not selling or using taylor and of course beradi on the left all are blots on his record. I will be happy to keep him but on same hand don't think he is anywhere near as good as Wagner or few others in our league. Finally I think bravo is great signing and trust bravo and rad so in a way if they want to bring in own man i back and trust them to do that (if you have a man like bravo do we have to back his judgement? ) for once i am happy and for me it is win win if we keep monk great, if we get someone else in i would be fairly confident they feel he is better than monk and in many ways see this as a signal of intent

We used the joint lowest number of players, have one of the smallest wage and transfer budgets and are set for a point total that would have missed out on the Champ playoffs 1 time. ever. We looked shot towards the end, can't blame Monk for a lack of players, might be no-one at fault and we just couldn't get targets over the line, dude deserves a second shot. History lesson, last time we finished 7th and sacked the manager we languished in the bottom half for a number of years.

06 May 2017 09:48:30
Chopping and changing managers is a fools errand. A new manager may deploy different tactics and will want a whole new set of players. We have tried the short term approach for the past few seasons, so why not try building upon what we have got for a change. Those who watched the team regularly this season will have seen how much we have improved and know we are going in the right direction

Agree0 Disagree0

06 May 2017 10:44:54
choping and changing managers hasn't done chealsea and watford any harm. mind you it ain't city any good. i hope we keep monk just won't lose sleep if he goes.

Not done us much favours, I prefer to comment on what I see on a weekly basis

06 May 2017 12:39:50
He has to stay, the best manager we've had for many a year IMHO :)

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2017 22:27:00
you could argue chopping and changing has done us a lot of favours, redders stable, evans more stable monk charge up league. next guy?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 09:10:20
I like monk and I think he's laid the foundation for leeds, but the style of attacking as a unit is far more effective than passing ball to death with no penetration, so the more I think about it I'd like a Wagner type of manager but think monk deserves another season and needs to be backed with a big transfer kitty as we haven't got the players atm to play the passing game.

Agree0 Disagree0

07 May 2017 09:25:40
Or you argue that Monk had a full season, more stable. Or you can just argue BW

05 May 2017 08:17:27
Should Monk stay? Was it his fault you slipped out of the play off places? Or did he perform a miracle just to have you contending?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 May 2017 11:09:39
I think he should stay. He's got the team working well together. Better than any previous manager over the last 5 years or so (with the obvious exception of Dave Hockaday) .

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 11:23:28
Lack of depth in the squad meant fatigue took its toll. That is why we fell out of the top 6. Monk has his weaknesses but for this he is not to blame.

Monk brought in barrow on 20000 a week

Agree1 Disagree1

05 May 2017 13:14:10
You were obviously joking about should monk stay right ?

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 13:27:11
I'd be happy for Monk to stay certainly. Monk didn't bring in Barrow on 20000 a week either - he brought in Barrow but even if he was on 20000 that's probably with his parent club and we would have only paid a fraction of that amount. The 20000 a week figure actually came from a video game, not even real sources.

05 May 2017 14:11:19
Monk should have tried Beradi on the left! Schoolboy error

Agree1 Disagree0

05 May 2017 15:21:10
Id say give him a go. Like his team spirit. Bit too defensive maybe but
Lets see how he goes with better squad. Give pre season and 10 games i reckon.

05 May 2017 16:17:09
Absolute no brainer, Monk has to stay if we are to progress. If he goes, we go backwards!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 17:12:44
Blaming lack of investment is a cop out we were 3rd in the league with a few games to go and we folded it's as simple as that. There are no excuses for collapse if Monk takes the credit for the success we have had this season he also has to bear the responsibility of folding we lost games that were unforgivable to go 3 down to Norwich crazy. And I don't think we would have had any different back four that day no matter who came in. No matter what the Norwich result should never have happened given the circumstances. And monk changed his tune for that game he stated all season that each game was just about 3 points and should have stuck to that. Saying that I want him to stay he will be wiser next season

Agree3 Disagree0

05 May 2017 17:15:52
I am restarting old arguments etc. But for me he's not adaptable enough to get us up and therefore think he should go, though I believe he will stay.

Agree0 Disagree1

05 May 2017 17:29:11
92. You are nearly right. He should have tried Berardi up front! Are we still on the pitch when he scored his first goal? I say a penalty on Sunday and give it to him

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 17:35:56
not sure kebabman, yes monk is good but not sure we would go backwards what if we brought in the next wagner. many wanted to keep redders then wanted to keep evans and now want to keep monk, i agree with keeping monk but think there is better out there and would love to see them come to leeds

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 19:49:35
Monk is another year older and hopefully wiser

Agree0 Disagree0

05 May 2017 20:39:10
I'm a believer in the Monkey magic man and it would be great if he signed on the dotted line. He's worked wonders this season and next season with AR's investment we should finish at least one place better.

wagner has achived he took a team from 19th to 3rd in one year. he made them one of the best teams in the league playing nice football without breaking the bank. if they don't go up this year i'd fancy them next year. And that is my point cork, no one knew wagner so I or any one on this site (maybe a couple of eds and few fans) knows who the next wagner is, but he is out there and bravo might know him and bring him to leeds and then we will all be laughing and happy like the dog bothers are. monk is good but don't think he is great and great managers are out there and he may just be the next manager of leeds. I think rad has brought in good people and turst them to bring in a good manager should they decide to change. in the board I trust. didn't think i would say that about leeds four years ago

Agree1 Disagree0

06 May 2017 12:42:08
I think wagner will turn out to be a one-season wonder, and I hope they go up just so I can have a chuckle at their expense every week ;)

Changes ahead they say. Lots of investment. Rad obviously sees the potential and is willing to put money in. We hope. But even money doesn't always buy success. So lots more to consider than just who to buy. The one thing that monk has done is bond a team. They all work hard and its important to keep that.

Nobody bigger than team as pont found out. 3 weak teams coming down and no big ones coming up so with a bit of luck. Easier next year. Think logical to dump all the deadwood loanees and get some more top quality champ players on loan to get us out before we then go for next level of players next year.

You say no big teams Aus, however there's a possibility there may be 8 Yorkshire clubs in the Championship next season. This could mean nearly a third of our season would be Yorkshire derbies! And you know how other teams in Yorkshire see us as the team they want to beat and raise their game. If this does happen I think it would be a very difficult season. 😱

05 May 2017 11:26:26
Championship is always a difficult competition - every season. A hard one to get out of.

05 May 2017 18:13:59
i agree always a hard league but will be easier next year don't rate ones coming up or down, noirwich will be better next year i fear although they seem to be cutting cloth and letting lot of players go. I hope huds go up as they will be strongest next year. shef and fulham will not be as strong next year IMO, next year could be big if we have agood close season. I predcitied villa will be nearer bottom than top next last year and predict same with both sunderland and brorough, in fact i think sunderland could go down
