What one player would you all realistically like us to sign in the January transfer window, excluding the ones we already have on loan, I really like the look off sone Aluko at Fulham, faster than sacko and has a lot better vision/end product. he's been fulhams best player by a mile this season. be interested to hear everyone's thoughts.

The problem with your question is what are we considering as 'realistically' right now? If we get to Jan challenging for automatic or just outside the playoffs, has the 50% take over gone through and how much gets injected, these things make a big difference. For me if we are in or around and serious then Defoe would be attainable and huge, all be it a massive stretching of resources. Everton want to offload Lennon so a 6 month loan to buy if we go up maybe? he would want to stay prem side but might just drop down for his home town club if we look like we are on the up. Cheaper option wise Leicester are keen to loan out Kapustka, can play anywhere across mid or attacking mid, Arsenal want to loan out Akpom and Sanogo.

It's not a problem question Gummie, even if we only pick up 3 points from now till 1st of Jan we are going to be just outside the play offs with all to play for.

Nathan Dyer, not getting much game time at Swansea and we need another winger. Another one of Monk's mates who'd be happy to come here.

I would love us to go for somebody like Tom Ince but would have to pay a hefty fee for him. Realistically what about Henri Lansbury? contract runs out at the end of he year?

That "Shy" streaker from the Villa game, showed good pace without shoes to evade the chasing stewards.

Agree1 Disagree0

06 Dec 2016 16:31:54
I go for the streaker too lol. Think dyer is a great shout and lansbury. Not sure we need adam and crouch would be a step backwards as he's no better than wood, too old . Get the cheque book out for Assombalonga imo . Forget rhodes, he's so last year. Maybe we could get wells from the dog botherers that would be nice.

06 Dec 2016 21:11:18
agree hard to call, defoe and crouch no chance they are stayingin prem (definatly defoe) I think lennon and dyer are good calls and think possible, but impossible to tell at this point budget and targets.

Lancaster That is so funny. Had to read twice. Not sure if it was meant as a joke. Crouch no better than wood? My tummys hurting. Good point BW about smith. Haven't thought about him.

07 Dec 2016 23:21:56
Pains me to say it aus but I think wood would do better than crouch for the rest of this season in the championship.

The Douke, renew his contract or let him leave? Let's have a heated debate.

Leave
There's a few that need to go
Dallas doesn't add much
Mowatt is now surplus to requirements as we are prob now playing above his standard
We need to trim as much as poss to get the good ones signed up and one or two v good additions.

Tough one Lucas, came in on loan and did well, got a contract, dropped off. Rumours he would be sold, got better, transfer window shut, dropped off. Now playing well with his contract running down. I don't want to say its a pattern, would love to think Big Steve's fitness classes and him buying into Monks vision are the reason behind his resurgence, but. For me he is playing better at LW than anyone and he can cover on the right and up front so a tentative stay from me as long as his wage demands are reasonable.

06 Dec 2016 11:01:05
Agree Gummie, very tough one. I'd say if he and LU can wait until the end of the season then if we're still in the champ then offer him a new contract or if we're in the prem let him go.

Speedy. Are you forgetting about Brolin? All I remember of him was our fans singing 'why is Brolin on the bench' at the league cup final so he must have been good, fans are never wrong!

Lucas. Are you sure that was at Elland Road. Could it have been in the Wimpy Bar?

Had a chat in pub last night about former players who disappointed the most, players whom much more was expected from in our own opinions. My choices were Keith Edwards and two Davids, White and Rocastle. My three are going back some time but they were the ones who instantly came to mind. Edwards I thought would be the man to get us the 20 plus goals every season we were missing back then as his goals record, i'm sure, was amazing at Sheff Utd. The other two were players I really rated at their previous clubs but for one reason or another didn't click at ER. Anyone else remember any players who disappointed them after an initial excitement on arrival? Or even players who massively exceeded expectations? I ask cause the ole brain is not what it used to be and can't be arsed digging out old programmes.

Can't agree about Hodge, he scored some vital goals when we won the league in 92. With a first choice midfield of Strachan Batty McAllister and Speed he was never going to be first choice but if you watch the highlights of that season he was a great stand in.

06 Dec 2016 11:53:29
Agree with all of these and would like to add Darren Huckerby. Never see a player run the ball in to touch so many times. Old sticky boots needed another pitch to run into. Brollin and Roque Junior - I'll just leave those names there with you all, no comments needed. MM.

Robbie 'God' Fowler.

06 Dec 2016 18:17:35
The most disappointing was clearly Billy Paynter. He was expected to be equal to Charlie Austin his old strike partner. Edwards did not fully fit in at Leeds but I'll always remember him fondly for goals against Oldham and Coventry. Rocastle may he RIP was always going to be in Strach shadow and was never going to be a good signing. White did ok. There's been a lot worse than him.

most great shouts above, steve hodge though get out of town he was great, his goals to minutes ratio must be amongust the best for any leeds player let alone a midfeilder. he was very good and hosted me when I vsited the players at the wimbledon game. also seth johnson, I thought he was pony before we paid a small fourtune for him for me brloin due to fee and rep, roadcastle as never got a chance and for record buy was dissapointing and huckaby, saw him at millwall and cov and he was great then very average at best at leeds also who said folwer. wasnt he top scorer for us that season, touch of the chris wood here me thinks.

BW I've also met Steve Hodge, he is a very nice guy, he was awesome at florist and I was exited by his signing, overall he was disappointing for us though I think he contracted ME shortly after signing for us. I believe that he has the "Hand Of God" Maradonna shirt, how much must that be worth?

Hernandez will be a couple more weeks Alf. Bridcutt is almost ready according to some internet stories today with Monk saying he'll be keeping a close eye on him this week in training. I'd expect him to be substitute to start with though. MM.

A great result on Saturday and well earned. It wasn't a great first half but the back four played very well although they almost got themselves into trouble a few times with their short passing when being pressed. The young lads just about held their own against more experienced opponents without creating too much. At half time the game could have been going either way. The second half was much better but it still looked like a mistake or piece of good football could settle it. As it was it was the latter with Doukara putting in an excellent cross for Roofe to get a deserved first goal. He hadn't got much change in the first half but came good in the second. The second goal came from Sako's pace and Villa leaving space at the back when pushing forward for an equaliser. We missed the creativity of Hernandez. We need a good understudy for him. As he gets older he will pick up niggling injuries and they will take longer and longer to heal. It was a good team effort with Ayling putting in another excellent performance.

Thought the young lads did really well. Villa have a strong midfield and they kept them quiet. Up to douks sacko and roofe to be creative which they did in the end.

KP and RV becoming more confident performing well with more experience. Silver lining of Birdcage injury. If we can thick out the squad next month with couple more quality additions we are there.

Agree with that, thought the 2 lads in middle of the park were excellent and as good a pairing as we've seen for a very long time, given their age.
