I'd take David O'Leary back straight away!

Simply to hear the words 'Ah they're a young bunch of lads. ' again.

Better than seeing a football field full of pensioners every week!

MOT! WMS!

I would love for him to bring back those days but i'm a little nervous, I don't think he is the manager he was and he's been out of the game for a while now, its a shame but realistic.

2 things.
If Redders gets 12 points or more then what happens?
Secondly, perhaps GFH are waiting for the right manager, like a relegated Redknapp perhaps.
Thoughts.

Believable1 Unbelievable14

Redfearn has categorically stated he does not want the job regardless of 6 wins from 6 or manager of the month or whatever, in his own words '' I have put far too much into the academy to walk away from a half finished job''.
As for Redknapp I hope not the last thing this football club needs is another cockney wide boy controlling the purse strings.

Agree5 Disagree1

Considering his work with the academy and his commitment to it. I'd rather have him there than working with the first team.

Agree1 Disagree0

Original poster:
Am glad Redfearn does not want the job as he is doing a great job at the academy same as Naylor.
As for Redknapp, I wasn't saying I wanted him, just that GFH may be waiting for a manager to get relegated.
For me I'd like to see either McDermott, Poyet, Lambert, Di Matteo or an up and coming like Karl Robinson, Uwe Rosler or Parkinson.
O'leary? (been out of the game too long)
O, Neill? (looks tired, battle-scarred and a shadow of the manager he once was)
Hughes or McClaren? (kind of like asking Roy Keane to take over from Mancini)

DOL in on Monday

4 wins out of last 5 missing play off spot.

But

10 Points clear by Christmas and a romp into Premier League sealed by mid March.

Champions League Football in 3 years.

A new dynasty. "the one who returned".

It's such a beautiful dream it almost makes me weep. (But I'm Yorkshire)

I think we will get Michael Appleton in for next season, Not what we really want but he is the safe option for GFH Capital, He is very good at working on a shoe string as he did so at Portsmouth I personally think he was very unlucky to get the sack at Blackburn. Although I just can't see him bringing the club further forward I think he might just do whilst we get further investment in.

Believable2 Unbelievable25

Yeh, he did such a wonderful job relegating Portsmouth on a shoestring. don't think so.

I think we still need 9 points from our remaining fixtures to stay in this league the next 3-4 games are crucial and could see us near the summit of the league. let's hope nr can gear the players up for a hard run in because we r no where near safe yet.

Believable7 Unbelievable13

Definately need two more wins and I cannot see where they are coming. Our form is woeful and I fear the worst. Back to league 1 I'm afraid.

Agree4 Disagree10

We don't need nine points 5 should be easy enough

Agree7 Disagree2

I reckon 4-6 points will definitely be enough, I can't see 8 teams below us getting 10 points each from 6/7 games, but you never know. we would probably get in the play-offs if we won all our remaining games. What a crazy league.

Agree9 Disagree1

I think two wins and that should be enough, hopefully the next two. Although any number of teams could go down at this point, with everybody playing each other I don't see it being much than 6 points for survival. Who'd have thought it eh? 4 weeks ago we were holding out for a playoff place, now were closer to a relegation dog fight. Only at Leeds :)

Agree1 Disagree0

Stop being negative we'll be safe easy
We, ll finish 10th
Come on next season if we get the right manager

Agree2 Disagree3

I don't think we need any, I know it's close but I can't see some of the team below us picking up 5 more points than us, luckily

Agree0 Disagree1

And which games are these 9 points coming from or 6 for that matter we carnt score goals!

Agree2 Disagree0

Redfearn seems to think one more win should be enough because of the fixtures below us

Current form will hopefully go out of the window now, I think morale has been very low due to the previous manager's alienation of anyone he did not sign. A better style of football will hopefully bring more chances, I don't think this bunch are as bad as he made them look. Norris for instance was a decent attacking midfielder who was well capable of double figures every season before he came here. If we see people in right positions and play football for a change we could see a very different team. This team with the right guidance and encouragement could do so much more.

Byron is excellent, both at right back and midfield. However we looked far more dangerous when going forward when he was in midfield. Personally I would be on the lookout for a creative/pacy midfielder or quality right back. Whichever came in first would determine Sam's position. In addition we need a proven goal scorer who could lead the line and a wide player with pace. Finally a top CB to play alongside Tom Lees. If we could do that we would be short odds for promotion next season. Downside? This could also be said for at least half a dozen clubs in the division never mind the three coming down this year.

Right not a rumour just a rage at this txxt from west ham united. He really is sending me into a rage. I actually refuse to click on any of his articles on the news now 24/7 site. But to even see his headlines this morning about the late great DON REVIE turning in his grave is just SICK something needs doing about this man's obsession with Leeds united. Just why doesn't he concentrate on his own club the little nerd.

Believable16 Unbelievable0

I have found it better to just totally delete the publication on my Leeds Now settings, that way I don't see any of his rubbish or respond to it.

All he wants is publicity and he gets that by winding up every Leeds supporter who visits his site.

If you all stopped responding, and even visiting his site, it would soon stop, I am sure.

We know what Don Revie meant and still means to every Leeds supporter, and NOTHING that person writes is going to change that.

I'd urge EVERYONE on this site to just totally ignore the WUM, instead of playing straight into his hands.

He is NOT a real Wep Spam supporter, he doesn't even live in the UK and he certainly is NOT a Leeds supporter despite whatever he claims.

Agree7 Disagree0

Thanks for the reply mate. But how do I delete the publication on my Leeds rumours now setting? Am sick of this tool. But like I said I don't click on any of his articles but just seeing him saying things linked to the great DON makes my blood boil. something needs doing. How do u know he doesn't live in the country? Mot.

Agree0 Disagree0

The thing that 'needs doing' about him is. nothing. Your post is the reason he does this, leave him in his own little schizoid world. He is obsessed and what he does in respect of lufc has taken over his life. Without being glib I suspect this man may benefit from some form of psychological therapy. I suspect its one of his few pleasures in life. let's be charitable and allow him his little moment, very few will pay much attention anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

The freak has also had little digs at the late gary speed he seems to think that he is a comedian he really is obsessed with are club

Agree0 Disagree0

Just ignore the silly person, he gets his jollies out of winding people up the sad person.

Dol would be a really really bad choice just take a step back and look at what he did last time he had quality young talent coming through, kewell, woodgate, smith and he had more money to spend than all Leeds managers present and past put together and what did he do? Urmmmmm nothing oh apart from help destroy the club with risdale oleary for manager what a joke

Believable5 Unbelievable19

DOL did great until he was given loads of cash, then he bought likes of Johnson, fowler, then he got rid of the youth like burns mcphail jones,, people forget leeds got to the champions league semi without spending stupid money that happened the season after and we failed to qualify for the champ league DOL was useless when given loads of cash. leeds didn't fail chasing the dream they failed trying to maintain the dream, we were already a uefa cup semi finalist, champ league semi finalist,, then we spent daft money. and crashed and burned.

Agree8 Disagree2

It wasnt o learys fault, it was ridsdale giving faulse promises, and bad judjement. you have to remember it wasnt at all o learys fault, he was a good manager

Agree6 Disagree2

The crazy thing is that after spending a fortune on the squad, he lost the all important team spirit and killed the po
tential that the young players had! froggy.

Agree1 Disagree0

Since Revie, Leeds int never been so high as David O'Leary took us. I'm even thinkin' on Wilko and the League title.

David O' had us semi finals of Europe in the modern era.

D'you remember the days in Europe, us shirts off wi' Bridges and Bowyer, Smudger and Kewell stickin it in, Ian H bendin' it in the corner better than David B. Sumo before he were truly sumo being a real presence of a man.

We'd run a team with 4 top Premiership grade strikers and rotating them. 4!

Eeee those were beautiful days and some lovely lovely football.

We all want them back. we want, need and deserve David O' Leary. and them beautiful days back.

Dol is rubbish I wish everybody would look forward rather than back I'm surprised nobody's said Alan smith for manager or mark viduka or even harry kewellget away from the leeds link they're all rubbish let's av a fresh start with McDermott!

DOL is unproven at this level, and with limited funds? he dropped lucky with the youth and the amount of backing.

I say offer the job to first choice manager now, if he says no, go to second choice. A manager either wants to manage leeds or they dont. Hopefully mext manager will be with us for years, into the prem and beyond. Realistically we could poss ne in europe in 3-5 years. Have brighton, villa, wigan, leicester, southampton etc any chance of that. Handled tbe right way in next few years by owners and manager, we could be back in big time. don't take any of this. If we don't get promoted ill consider leeds or of we get relegated ill consider leeds. Do you wsnt to manage a sleeping giant or not? Now! If not bugger off
Finished

Believable2 Unbelievable8

Bit naive mate.

Football management in the real world is a career not a computer game. There are a lot of complex factors to consider when deciding whether or not to apply for or take a job. That applies to us all in any walk of life. When looking for a job do you go for the 'biggest company' or the best job in terms of career development? Football is no different when you're a professional.

What makes you think, realistically, we could be in Europe in that short a timeframe when we don't really know what budget is available for the manager? Can you guarantee the prices will mean increased supporter numbers and a better atmosphere? The Leeds job is a bit of a poisoned chalice right now since there are so many unknowns.

Fans sometimes need to take a step back and try see the club through the eyes of other people, especially through the eyes of the professionals. That's why all the vitriol about Snoddy, Howson and others on here annoys me. It's immature and pathetic - and I know I'll get a lot of disagrees from people who fall into that category.

Collectively, football fans seem to struggle to understand the difference between a football supporter and a football professional. There is a world of difference and fans need to grow up a bit and understand that a transfer or a management role isn't about being a supporter, it's a major step in someone's career which affects their whole future and their family's future.

Agree8 Disagree2

If they are half decent confident managers and have ambition they will choose the club with most potential. Which if they are really honest with themselves is leeds by long shot. Its ok to accept more money and a bigger kitty but that just shows a lack of ambition. honest, I reckon gfh have a good plan and will have money and any manager worth their sort should pick leeds. We may be crap now but pot a big club which bottom 6 of prem and top 6 of champ arent. Stop being so pessimistic and realise our pot they have a better chance of europe with us than any other mentioned clubs.

Agree0 Disagree1

How come we have a chance and Villa dont? Villa get far bigger crowds than us and have better players.

There average crowds recently I think are like 42,000 which is more than ER holds, not only that they sell there tickets we dont.

We aren't going anywhere because are fans are part time 'boycott for bates' then new owners they find more faults and don't come back.

I wouldn't mind if they couldn't afford it but they use bates as an excuse and don't return.

Agree3 Disagree0

1 out of 12. Been in prem for how long? Still only manage 40k. Villa are nowhere near leeds. Never were never will

Agree0 Disagree1

And hasn't Bates destroyed the club or is it just me imagining the fact while he has been there he has sold all our best players and hired the worse manager in our history and to top it off, sells to a skint investment bank, priceless!

People talk of bringing in a foreign manager who can bring a philosophy that would bring success given time and some funds. What about Paulo Sousa? Did a marvelous job at Swansea, but when he left them for Leicester, Mandaric only gave him about 8 games before he was sacked, and he is not in a job at the moment. I personally am torn about the idea but just wanted to know your thoughts if he was appointed?

Believable2 Unbelievable6

04 Apr 2013 23:48:28
Martin O'Neill does not want to rush back into management just yet, sounds to me he's holding out for a job in the summer, maybe leicester, but I doubt Leeds.

I can't see the wally with the brolly or Mark Hughes being appointed as this would really anger us Leeds fans.

If Brian McDermott was the main target he would have been appointed by now. Seems like we're waiting for a stronger candidate but it doesn't rule him out.

Coyle and Magilton have expressed an interest but both seem unfancied by the bookies and fans.

Realistically I see us appointing David O'Leary. He has unfinished business with us and has suggested he has put in his CV. Would love to say that we're going to tempt Gus away from Brighton but can't see it happening.

He has not been mentioned but I just want to know your thoughts on Ian Holloway being our new manager. If Palace are not promoted he would certainly be tempted. He's ambitious, a motivator, his teams play good attacking football instead of hoofball. Maybe we should make a move for him? He left Blackpool, Zaha is showing himself the middle finger in the summer and going you know where, Leeds are (with all due respect) a much bigger club, and if we have better finances in the summer from GFH (here's hoping) then why not?
