Leeds now interested in Steve sidwell all over twitter

Never have backroom staff got a team promoted, as far as I can remmember. Ok, its good MC is finally getting a coaching team in place and Wood has been signed but let's not get carried away lads. Looking at next seasons likely eleven at this juncture, its the same apart from the big Kiwi! We need another CB, CM, at least one wide player at a minimum. Will more good signings be made? Time will tell. Some folk say at least things are better than this time last season. After last years pre season rubbish with an unknown coach things surely couldn't get any worse. And no I am NOT being negative. Just hoping Cellino has finally realized that Leeds can not be done on the cheap. MOT.

We have made four good signings, and I do not think the starting eleven will be anything like last season. Rosler will use the full squad. Be surprised if he has the young ones playing three games a week and he will use subs. I think we have a good squad add a bit of pace from midfield and its about sorted. None of the players were used right by any coach last season, all playing out of position, some not playing at all. One thing for sure they will all have to put a shift in.

Agree bige
Sounds like uwe is giving everybody a crack at first team and just not favourites like reddders did, at the expense of quality players like sloth and ant etc.
I would like a bit more pace which uwe has said he is looking for and a bite your legs midfielder too.
True. We haven't a team capable of top 2 I don't think but potential for top 6 is there.

You're right Corkie, back room staff have never got us promoted but for me the planning and structure in place now all bodes well for the future. More signings will come.

On another note, I'll be back in the land of my forefathers next week watching Libertines in Dublin, so if you fancy a pint, nip over to The Gresham on O'Connell Street and I'll stand you a Guinness.

Love Dublin Sydney although Mayo is my home county. I was there a couple of years ago to see the boys in blue beat our lads in the GAA. Never seen so many people in green and red shirts looking so miserable at The Gresham. Didn't stop them (and us) drinking till 6am though!

Talks between torino and bjarnason have broken down as cellino has apparently offered him better terms, would be an excellent signing and he can play on the wing

I don't think it's just the fact that Redders has been sacked that disappoints the fans, it's the disrespectful manner in which Cellino has gone about it.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

04 Jul 2015 16:29:43
He has not been sacked left by mutual consent, only agreed to go back to academy for twelve month so he could get a pay off, he knew he would be going

I thought Redders contact was up in July. what's the problem with that?. Surely if there is no renewal, then end of story or am I missing something?

04 Jul 2015 16:38:48
~You know, you have a point there, if NR's contract ended at the end of July or whenever & it has not been renewed then is there even any compo to be awarded? hmmmm anyone know more about this?

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Jul 2015 20:48:44
He had a clause which gave him the option to return to academy on a twelve month contract. He took up that option, eventually, so will be some compo.

05 Jul 2015 00:41:42
Surely one years salary for an academy coach would be less than the VAT on a yacht. I'm sure MC can afford it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - be amazed if it's more than one months salary tbh.}

nr going so he should of done his own job and not stepped in . reward no job bad

04 Jul 2015 12:00:54
Dont forget that NR did'nt help DM out when he was struggling then stepped up when DM bit the bullet! so NR knew what he was getting into as one thing is for sure a Manager will always get the sack eventually, we don't know the reason behind the fall out between NR & MC first half of the season all seemed hunky dory with them , was it because of redders change in style/tactics or lack of? Players not being used / or if they had words,or whether ST effect showed NR to be out of his depth as he struggled before & after his time there! it's ok suggesting that Mc should leave Managers alone to manage but they are still employed by the the club & the owner who will always expect their advice to be heard & if not eventually do something about it! that's the way of the world, if you ignore your Managers & owners at work you'll be down the road in no time! it's no different in football in fact it's probably worse as the Managers are responsible for £millions in one way or another.A good manager not only has to man manage his players but also has to man manage the board of directors & the owner as well, there's more to Managing than just the footballing side of the job.

Chris Maguire from Wendys out of contract (no fee), Barker from Citeh (loan, no fee), Barton (no fee). I reckon if Barton was to take a pay cut and maybe the lure of a massive bonus for taking us up, these three would just about complete our squad and if Barker is any good, pay the development fee next season and keep him.

I'm sure with a few outgoing players such as Mozza on decent contracts, we could just about balance the books. If not I've been saving £2 coins all year for Mrs Micks Christmas present. There must be over £500 in the kitty and a pair of oven gloves doesn't cost that much.

Genuine offer Mr Cellino, take it or leave it. If you don't I'm piling it all on us to be in the Champions League final for BIGE's 65th birthday bash!

MM

{Ed001's Note - wouldn't that mean you would have to qualify this year?}

Oven gloves Mick, (plural). Your so generous! I usually get my missus one for her birthday and one for Christmas. That way she has something to look forward to.
On the Redfern thing, I think he had to go. I think Cellino will have wanted a totally clean slate after last season's head coach debacle and Redfern lurking in the background may have caused tensions.
After all Neil is sooo last year!

You're a shrewd cookie datum. It's getting hard for me to buy for Mrs Mick after spoiling her last year with the Baywatch ironing board cover.

On the Redders thing, I've had my say for what it's worth. Onwards and upwards now and I think we're in a better place now and I'm looking forward to August and parading my new collection of shell suit couture at ER!

MM hit the nail (or Neil) on the head, agree or disagree about redders one thing for sure we are in a much better place this year. last year I really felt we were going down during pre-season. This year I genuinely think we may go up, ok I was wrong last year so might be wrong this year but still nice to feel positive

Don't hurt to be positive BM. I genuinely think we've got a chance too and it's not just blind optimism this time. The fact we have completely restructured the back room staff is a great sign as we're looking at building rather than a quick fix.

Anyway, got a barbecue to muller.

Up the Whites, down the pints, lumps of charcoal all round!

Wats a matter with people on her for gods sake. If it weren't the last few games of the season Redfern deserved sacking ages ago. He was rubbish. Now uwe is here he will want things done his way with his aids. Reddders would have been an obstacle not a help
Besides. All the youngsters used to daddy reddders will now benefit from a different coach with different ideas
And to let everybody know. If uwe fails. I'm happy to get rid of him too
This club is better than all individuals inside it and the fans and you corky deserve better
It's about time some body manned up and bloody got it back to where it belongs!! And if they don't or can't then bigger off
Please u lot. Stop being so soppy and expect more
It's an adult world and they get paid a load of money to do a job!

I think I agree in part Ausman. Redders was the wrong man for the job he was landed in as caretaker manager (coach whatever) however, he was taken out of a job that he was good at, and he deserved to be given the old job back again without being under the axe. Yes, if someone doesn't deliver, then get them out of that job, but its like putting a forward in as goalkeeper and sacking him after letting in 4 goals (like Peter lorimer did against Chelsea in 72)

No matter, he's gone now and he will do well in another club and I wish him the best.

This year my friends. this year. MoT

Ausman mate you don't get it. Its aabout treating people with respect. A good employer treats his staff well and with respect and in turn gets a better performance. Think about it, who is he going to **** next. Rosler. Kelly. The Fans?
Id like to believe he has learnt from last years errors but his history suggests otherwise. Anyway heres hoping!

agree about youngesters moving up getting new ideas being good but they would get that with first team. We have always had a great academy with good young players (batty, speed, kelly, whelan, robinson, hearte, smith, delph, messi) are just a few since I have been a fan. So we can not say redders was the only good thing about acadmey as good players come through before and will come through after. however I think your being a little bit harsh. redders did a great job at academy and while I can understand new manager etc. would they really get in each others way dealing with different parts of the leeds set up. Also redders did not do a bad job as leeds manager. no he was not great but he was the reason we stayed up. look at his points per game over the other monkeys in charge last year and you will see no redders meant no championship

04 Jul 2015 18:20:59
Bermo, check your history dawg. Didn't we buy Messi for 300 million pounds? As opposed to him coming up thru the Academy? Lol

I'm with Ausman on this. Sorry Corkie we usually agree. Redders was treated like a fourth class citizen by cellino. That was wrong ethically but what's done is done. Time to move on and ship him out. We are moving in a better direction. Cellino putting hand in pocket. Probably wouldn't do that if Redders smell still here. Thank you for your stint Redders, good luck, enjoy the payoff but the real Leeds United is about to stand up.
