Bringing in any quality player would cost at least half a million up front and that much again in wages each year. Its the wage bill that the killer and we have a big squad. Its a bit hit and miss at Hull. Some good signings - some not so good. Interesting to see where they finish up. Leicester seems the biggest threat outside the current top six.

Bates spending money at Leeds would not put them into debt he is a millionaire and would rather buy a hotel or a luxury boat it's a way of him keeping in the football lime light with out risking any money just a hobby I'm afraid but he carnt even compeat with the new owners at hull and that's really sad !

The money owed in debts has a claus that is brought into place when leeds get back into the premership and its no small amount so is rumoured, like him or loath him read risdales book and if what he is telling you is true in the book there was more to leeds down fall than just him, the cheque book was not his alone! !

Responding to this:
[The same fans who want Bates spend money and go into debt to watch Premiership football are probably the same ones cheering Ridsdale & co. Look what happened then. Being backed by Russians, Saudis or Indians is fine if you are prepared to be just bit parts in some millionaire/ billionaire's fantasy league/ hobby. I don't envy Man. City or Chelsea fans at all. At least at Leeds there are still some players/ management who care about the club and have some history with it. Dont think you can say that about the premiership - with maybe a few exceptions.]

I agree that we should spend recklessly but somehow as a club we made £15k profit last year, it bewilders me though, we have massive crowds and the tickets are not cheap (just paid £36 for my donny ticket!) so how are we making so little money? we've bought in cheap/ free signings and we've also got shot of delph a few years back (£8m that seems to have gone awol since we didn't record an £8m profit last year did we?) appreciated some of this may have gone on bills and expenses but with the way bates it you have to ask did it really all go straight back out? i don't think so?

i also heard somewhere that if we get promoted again before a certain point in time leeds would have to pay back monies owed from when we went bust? can anyone shed any light on this?

Regarding the earlier message on 1st March about needing a "big, strong, ugly experienced defensive midfielder", and how Younes Kaboul at Spurs would fit the bill.

Well, he certainly satisfies the ugly part.
