Some club is going to get a fine coach now that the inevitable has happened. Shame it ended this way but with MC I am afraid this par for the course. Redfearn should be remembered for keeping us up and not for all the other crap with the chairman.
I wonder how many coaches we will get through next season? Rosler, for his sake and ours, better get off to a decent start or the "manager eater" will be sharpening his knife.

I have never understood the sentiment that was 'Do it for Redders' etc although I gather originally it was a bit of sarcasm (or so I was told) Neil stepped up when DM bit the bullet without any hesitation & thought about him, and why not, football is a dog eat dog world, the term loyalty no longer belongs in the modern game, that was fine when players had nothing much but a testimonial to look forward to, but Managers,Players etc are on a decent salary at least nowadays so no more testimonials or loyalty! How ever way you look at Redders & MC relationship Redders has come out of it with an enhanced reputation & more to the point experience as a championship manager at LUFC! which is worth a lot more to him now than whatever experience he had this time last year! he will probably have to haggle for his pay off, good luck with that Neil!
Whether NR will ever become a Manager & succeed in showing MC what he missed time will tell, but one thing is for sure he should have the motivation to succeed after all that's happened rather than just plodding along unoticed as a youth coach (albeit a good one) how he will fare with a squad full of players he dosent know will be interesting to see also.
I wish Neil good luck & I hope you get the severance deal you deserve! you were given a chance, this time it did'nt work but you now know what it feels like & what you need to do to make it work in the future! Good Luck!

I find it a disgrace that Leeds Utd are allowing Redfearn to leave, and am really annoyed at the way he was and is being treated.

It might be said (and most will agree) that he wasnt a guy to take us forward, but the job he did to steady the ship and keep us up was commendable and he was Leeds at heart.

He did what he could with the dross MC brought in and revitalised some players and utelised others in positions that were not familiar to them. All in all he coached well. And even when the powers that be disrupted and shook the ship to make his woking life difficult, he stuck it out and saw out the season. Good luck to the chap, because we don't deserve him.

But its ok, MC signed a few players, brought in a new management team and supposedly changed his stripes. Until somebody else manages to wind hiom up.

I for one will not forget what he has done. hang on is that another signing, cool, where is he from, where does he play, Redfearn Who??.

Thank you Celliono, the saviour.

Sorry he is leaving but did not expect him to stay.Decent academy coach but sure Blunt who broubht the young ones through U17 and U18 squads will be just as good if allowed to step up. Redders will have learned a bit and surr lots of clubs will be after him,or maybe not

I was a big fan of letting NR step up, he did us proud but only as a 'stand in' and that worked. Longer term he proved inept and did not have the tactical skills or awareness to succeed. How many of us screamed for subs that never happened or witnessed a line up and formation that allowed the opposition to rail road us! Yes we have some great youth coming through but is that all NR? I suggest not. Natural talent and drive are key - yes they gave been developed but NR was not there when charlton or Batty came through - nice bloke, tried his best and should have swallowed his pride and gone back to the academy - he was the one who wanted the job and had a clause to return to his old job put in his contract. Yes MC was a little too vocal but we did our bit too! Social media is powerful and can be cruel - I wish NR all the best and hope he does well - he will need a good boss or No2 if he is to succeed - let's just let him be and concentrate on our future - he could have been part of it but has chosen not to.

good post and agree with most apart from the dross MC brought in. I think you will see this year just how good some of them players are, they may need time to settle and need a good coach to get best out of them but in my opinion, Silvestri one of the best outside of prem, ant one of the best in legaue, bianach and bulesic will both be better this year and same goes for douk who could be handful at this level and have to see about slouth and couple of others. I don't think MC's player policy was that bad at all, just needed better managers/coaches to deal with it. that said redders did a decent/good job and was the reason we stayed up

Sorry to say no to both Lucas, the past is the past, looks like things are to move forward. A new Leeds is finally starting to emerge, and I'm all for it, just because players did well for us the past does not mean they are our future. Great players sadly failed as managers, in the past. I'm Leeds through and through but I can't take us forward, so let's wait and see what the new season brings. MOT

04 Jul 2015 12:05:22
agree with AGM, being leeds and being good players might not be enough, would rather go for new and un-leeds if they are better for the job. leave the last where it is. As far as I am aware no past player (other than larry but he wasnt really a player for us) has come back and done well in a none-playing post (eddie grey, billy bremner, gary mac etc) have all come and gone with out much or any success. I personally think gary mac was one of our worst managers outside of hock (although he has a good eye for a player) so best left in the past, unless pardew or big sam played for us

Bremner was a good manager for us. Fa cup semi final, play off final and gave dave batty his chance

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jul 2015 19:07:55
did he really? I always thought wilko gave batty his debut. bit before my time. Bremner seems to be the best of the lot but still think you could argue he was a let down as a manager compared to how great he was as a player. often the case the best players do not make the best managers can't think of many great players who then come back to same club and do well as manager, Daglish at Liverpool is the only one who springs to mind, maybe B clough who was quite a good player wasnt he and maybe pep goudiola although don't think he was quite a great player, not many though. This said I hear backham is due to become the next man utd manager and I would pay good money to see that happen

All I can say is thank god Cellino did not sell up and move on when fans were chanting for him out and the media were having a field day ridiculing him, mainly for his poor command of the english language. He has made us financially sound, even though harsh decisions were made, ie cleaners etc. but that's the real world. We have money to spend on transfers instead of it all going on debts. He has obviously took some good advice and decided to abandon his continental style of ownership. He has stuck to his beliefs in what he sees is right for the club and will invest until his and our dream of premiership football comes true. I think Pearson will eventually buy out GFH which is why he is here. Once they have gone expect ER to be bought back by club.
Undoubtedly the best pre season we have had for over a decade. The best thing he is buying young players for the future who can only improve. He is not every ones cup of tea but we wanted an owner who believed in us and we got one. MM was right when he said it is our club but to me that means everyone from the owner to the staff in Billys bar. We are all in it together and if its a bumpy ride we are used to it, and so is Cellino. Marching on together.
I just got 20 quid on at 500-1 with my bookie that I will be watching Leeds in the Champions league final on my 65th birthday in 2021. I can still dream.

Good post BIGE. We've got every right to feel optimistic and the days of paying £2m+ for a player seemed to be long gone but fair play to Cellino, he's having a go and we should all get behind him. I'm not a hypocrite and despite what I think about his man management, I will get behind whoever is in charge and you're right, we're all in it together.
You seem to watch a lot of football BIGE including the reserves as you have good knowledge of up and coming players, so if you think we will be in the Champions League final on your birthday, then who am I to argue with you. I admire your optimism!

I'm hopeful that this season we will not play Morrison as a loan striker!every game
If we can get Maquire ,Barker and Barton I believe it would complete are transfer needs .
I know Barton has a past but he is still quality in terms of his playing and I think he would be good for the young players to learn from in terms of positioning.

both good posts, don't think anyone can call MM a hypocrite, he is always behind leeds. Like all of us we all have perfances towards some players, staff and boardroom memebers and saying you do not like or agree with some of leeds utd employers doesn't mean we are not behind the club. I hated hock but loved leeds, some people don't like mc don't mean they don't love leeds. That said I have always been behind MC and think he was good for club, I Hope he is really starting to prove me right and good times lie ahead. MOT

Got faith in Phillips who will light up ER soon, young Coyle and I have only seen McDaid a couple of times but he looks the right sort of player, puts himself about.Think we need some pace on wing or breakingfrom midfield though. Love reading all the posts on here and we will all have a different opinion. One thing we agree on is Cellino should sit back and enjoy the fide now. Hope he never does another press conference untill we lift a trophy.

Dam I thought I was something putting a tenner on Wood to score 20+ goals next season at 14/1 ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 11:35:17
So if Delph goes to Citeh for £8m, that's £2m back in the bank for mad head. If that is the same as the fee we've paid for Wood, then so far we've paid feck all in transfer fees, land rover and boat tax.

Shrewd cookie is Mr Cellino, although it is worth pointing out that the sell on clause brokered for Delph was nothing to do with Cellino before anyone tries to claim otherwise.

Get Barton in, Maguire and the winger from Citeh and we'll have a squad capable of challenging.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Jul 2015 09:46:24
Its fine not worried all, Rosler only wants 2 more players (wingers hopefully)so it won't matter much once they are signed up. Just hope they are sooner rather than later. Anyways, we made the embargo work last year and will do again if needed.

The FL can then do what ever they want and watch us rip up the league. Unless they find a reason to dock us points that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 11:41:15
Can not see it happening, Stewarts contract was deemed invalid by FL and FA so he never really had a contract with us. Surely he should be suing them not us. PFA need to stop wasting money on lost causes

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 12:25:13
Can we approach the PFA for a player being crap, not as good as thought, a waste of time and money or if he decided not to play .

If players are using the representative body to pick up clubs failures and contract disputes we should use the same body to regulate their behaviour on and off the picth, actions of their representatives (agents) and genreal perfomance.

Sorry haven't being on for a long while. Had to respond to this post, any other job he would be sacked for under performing, lack of effort and generally not good enough for he position. Can't believe he has the cheek to try claim anything from us after the pathetic attempt he made for us. Hope the cretin rots on Ipswich bench. Oh and how is a transfer embargo a fair punishment?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2015 08:42:17
Just when everything is looking rosy in the garden, it looks like we might suffer a transfer embargo over the Cameron Stewart fiasco! The Football League are probably worried we're going for it this season and wouldn't want us to get promoted as we are every team's cup final.

Only at Leeds!

From what I understand the loan contract was signed by David Haigh who at the time was not in a position to do so ,M C thought he was not worth signing!so did not do another contract.
Players have agents who should have a legal advisor so check contracts as that's what they get paid for!
Fail to see this sticking ,hence M C has not paid it off .
Spoken to Mrs (in legal and spurs fan)club can call for contract to be countered as invalid.

It was FL who refused to sanction transfer in first place, returned it as invalid so can't see how they can punish us for something they instigated. If its invalid then he never had a contract.

Just reminiscing here lads and lasses.

Was anyone else on here present at Lucas Radebe's testimonial? 40,000+ for a testimonial says it all about how much Radebe was loved, in a season where we were averaging 25k for home games.

What made my day was when Vinnie Jones came out at half time to go in between the sticks for a penalty competition and took the mike, turned to the Geldered End and shouted "I've only got one thing to say to you lot", then burst into a rendition of Marching On Together.

Brought a tear to my eye. Always loved Vinnie and he'll always love Leeds.

What surprises me most about Cellino is how quick he seems to have learnt by last years mistakes. It's almost as if he tried plan b before plan a. It's impressive I reckon.

I agree Aus, he does seems to have learnt from his mistakes. Getting Pearson on board was the best thing that could have happened for Cellino personally as well as for the club. 2014 pre season saw loans and a no name coach and not that much optimism

2015 sees an experienced coach and some very seemingly good moves in the new players department.

We are spending money again and there are reasons to
be optimistic if not slightly confident

Can't wait for it all to start

I have survived off season with the help of this site and the banter of some special contributors

The special ones for me anyway include but not limited 2 are MM BW CORKY GIW SPEEDY

Home ( Dublin) for the big 50th in December but 4 side trips already booked to LUFC games home and away.

They say home is where the heart is but mine will
always be Leeds Leeds Leeds

So lock up your wife's and line up the pints lads
