Ok I think McDermott should let Aidy white go, Pugh and diouf because 10k a week for someone who plays 10 mins on a sat is a joke, also send Dom poleon out on loan for the season because he's not the finished article and at the moment we need that bit of experience, he runs with the ball but no end product and that will only come with experience.funds he receives from the above players could hopefully go towards a winger and an experienced striker like billy sharp, because ask yourself if McCormack doesn't score where are the goals coming from, can't rely on varney, hunt and smith, so if no one comes in before Monday it could be a big problem when you get injuries or if McCormack gets injured.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Diouf is by far one of the best players in our team. He is one of the only players bar McCormack that actually create loads of chances and bring others into the game. And I believe diouf must start next game against Bolton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Diouf is the most skilful player we have and you think we should get rid. classic! He missed preseason with injury and if you watch Leeds at all you would have seen how he created more in ten mins than the rest of them did all match. The players we need rid of are Norris, Pugh, White, Hall, Brown and Varney.

Agree0 Disagree0

yes that's a right idea let's get rid of our pacey players
poleon will be a very important player for us this season just needs more game time .

Been to all the home games this season and i'm quite happy, today took a little optimism away but if we lose 1 out of 5 games I would take that. The defense is decent, up front were okay although i'm still not sure on the system. We don't really play wingers so I think we need more creativity through the middle, Ross needs some help and Hunt isn't good enough. Hopefully we can get a player who can open teams up before the deadline, not easy but their's probably a couple of gems in the lower leagues. Not a fan of the international break so see you all in two weeks, MOT, Vinny.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

4 points from 3 home games and being outplayed by Chesterfield in the Capitol Cup hardly fills me with optimism. We are already playing catch up with the top two and have hard away games up next. Mid table is where we are and where we will stay without investment on the pitch.

Agree0 Disagree0

The top two are already getting away from us have a day off will you where 5 games into the season

A narrow defeat against probably the best and most expensive squad in the division is no disgrace. We didn't deserve to win neither did we deserve to lose.
BMD is a smart cookie and he knows better than most that we lack pace and guile at the moment. I am confident he will try to address this in this window and the loan market.
He's already made a big difference making us hard to beat, the season is still young yet I believe the team will improve the more they work together in training and in matches. Let's all MOT I feel more positive than I have for years. MOT Ron

Not too downhearted after today's game. Think wootton played well. Peltier and Pearce are getting better by each game. Yes Pearce lacks pace but his determination is brilliant. Midfield no complaints really, just gave away needless possession, but I think that was just the match as QPR where just as bad, if not worse. We need pace in the team and someone who can run at the defence and open them up (like gradel used to do, not saying gradel but someone in his mould who can cross. Varney was once again good. Hunt waste of space today. Diouf was great when he came on and can cross. Anyways enough rambling, the future is looking good, but do need a few more signings. Bring on Bolton!

Wingers that could be targets for Brian McDermott and LUFC:
Danny Ward- permanent
Craig Noone- loan with view to permanent
Cameron Stewart- permanent
Gary Mackay-Steven- permanent
Matt Ritchie- permanent
Sammy Ameobi- loan

lets stay positive lads, yes we lost today but I feel we are a massive improvement on last season we would have lost heavily if we were still under warnock! I think we have a good team that are working hard and players that want to play for leeds united. Mot and enjoy the season!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How would we have lost heavily under Warnock? Our home form was our strength last season with him. We have four points from three home so far, not exactly promotion form is it. Just because we are trying to pass the ball does not mask we are still a mid table side with little chance of promotion.

Agree0 Disagree0

You clearly never went to any home games last season all we did was hoof the ball everytime we got it and got outplayed every game I saw and to bring up warnock is laughable what a joke he was

Agree0 Disagree0

Academy players that have made a match winning contribution ie billy bremmner, Paul madely, David batty, Norman hunter, Gary speed, I could go on and on, all junior players who have made match winning contributions if they are good enough they are old enough

Agree0 Disagree0

The original poster brought up Warnock person and stop trying to make out we're playing great football because we're not. We are holding onto the ball a bit better but what good is passing around the defence and midfield then not having a clue how to pass in the final third.

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone going to the cup tie against Newcastle, there will be an 11th minute applause for Gary Speed who was regarded as a legend by both sets of fans. It will be great to see both sets of fans coming together for once.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What a lot of people on here are not addressing is the midfield. Where all chances and goals come from, yes I know we have too many midfielders. Not many of them are any good, naming no names ok. Tuesday at Doncaster we had a young man that took the midfield by the scruff of the neck and excelled there, passes were perfect, and created goals, he ran foreward with the ball, yes he did he had the ball and he ran foreward with it. He ran the show, this player is 18, He is called Alex mowatt, And in my humble opinion we would have won today if we would have played him

Agree0 Disagree0

I'll be there looking forward to the occasion!

Agree0 Disagree0

So playing an academy player would have won us the game, ha ha ha ha get a grip lad. QPR are a much better side than Donny. I think I'll stick with McDs judgement over yours.

A lot of people on here saying we just need to invest in 1 winger. How can you play with 1 winger, we need 2. Yes diouf could play on the wing but he isn't really suited to it, hall is not good enough. Who else do we have?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sam Byram

I can see sam been rm this season anyone know were he played in the development squad game

Agree0 Disagree0

Jerome Thomas was brilliant for us and we won all 3 of the games he played in creating chances and we scored 5 goals against decent opposition with one winger. If we sign someone of his or gradels quality I think promotion awaits us

Agree0 Disagree0

Jerome Thomas was average for us even if we did manage to win, only had one decent game.

Poor performance today especially being at home but in fairness was against a team who should top the lot really so not too down on that and is only first defeat in 5 games which I'd have easily taken before the season kicked off.

However I think we need to sign a bit more quality especially up front as I think Smith is just a tall donkey of a target man who for his height is poor in the air and brings nothing else to the party

Poleon is a headless chicken with bundles of energy and pace but no real footballing ability regardless of his age and coming through the youth academy.

I understand people will defend him but for those who will defend him just honestly what did he do today to even see a flicker of potential in him?

Having said all that I still am happy with start of season and do honestly believe that the worst we will do this year is challenge for the play-offs.

So overall being optimistic a couple more signings and we're going up with the grace of god.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I wouldn't say we played poor. I would say we are deffinatley missing a winger who would create chances and make sure the strikers get chances to score. That's what I think would have been the difference today. As we never really get any proper shots on goal.
Poleon isn't amazing but I think he's better than varney and hunt as I think their a bit like him but they are slow. He does cause problems for defenders though. I think if he bulked up and got strength he would be good.
Based on our results I would say we should get playoffs based on the fact that we have had 4 hard games so far getting 5 points from them and the win away at Ipswich. A winger is needed and with that we could get automatic but at the moment playoffs

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree that hunt wasnt great but varney was putting in some real effort and had some pace and I think he was ok

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, wasn't impressed with hunt at all, but varney I am really warming to! Need a winger desperately, we might then see the best from smith.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree varney seems to e really cing into himself putting in some hard work and linking well with McCormack, although I am quite surprised that know one has slated Austin on here dot think I recall him with one successful pass all game. Another good game though I thought good football especially the first half with another good performance by McCormack and peltier.

Thought we did well today, the ref didn't help, they scored from what I thought was a free for us! And what about Barton's push on Austin! Nevertheless they scored a good goal which was disallowed. Mot

Just watched the last 20 minutes of the Celtic, Dundee game and GMS ran around like a headless chicken, touched the ball once, gave away a free kick, ran into the centre half!
Not sure what the fuss is all about. They had a 17 year old Guald or something that came on and looked way better

Watched match on TV and was very frustrated. Passing and possession poor. Passing backwards when on the attack or from throw ins to Kenny who boots it upfield into a 50-50 chance when we had possession - so annoying. Cannot in any understand why Green, Varney and Hunt start. Murphy slow getting back to cover and some of is passing was quite sloppy but I hope he becomes our midfield passer. McCormack obviously in post contract signing blues - not a shot on or near target all game. Warnock's passing and frees speak for themselves. Delighted when Poleon came on - at least he runs at the defence. Austin could be very good if less of the miles out shooting and some poor passes aftering doing some great work. Have got carried away here! Hopefully back to winning ways next match. MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well your an happy chap, thought green played well, but agree when poleon came on he gave us some much needed pace, think if we invest in a wide player we won't be far away, keep the faith

Agree0 Disagree0

Have you seen Varney this season? played well against Ipswich, was one of our better players against Sheff Wednesday, the only reason today looked bad on him was because Hunt messed up all the hard work that he does, Varney and Poleon would be a good partnership due to Varney being good in the air

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more 3rd poster

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. I think green played well for Leeds today. And looking at the team today and the last few few games I can see a big difference in the defence. Think the play more tighter and pelts and Pearce are a lot more comfortable on the ball this season then last season. Just need more attacking options can't keep relying on the same players
Poleon played well when he came on. First defeat I'm glad it's out of the way. Stop all the moaning and hypercritical talk. Support the boys.

Just lacking that bit of pace and quality up front, the team itself can match most teams but it's the final third of the pitch that's the let down McCormack sometimes having to come into our own half just to get the ball, . Hopefully it will be addressed by Mondays transfer deadline.

We did ok today. Could of gone either way, although they looked more confortable and had decent wingers but we kept ball for long periods and always looked capable. Pleasing start to season and optimistic for rest of season. Sir mcd has a master plan, patience is a virtue. So.
Warnock a bit iffy. I thought
Green a bit negative. And
Hunt. Waste of time.
I haven't seen leeds too much recently but could we not start with diuf. Murphy. Austin. Mcc. Varney and poleon. And use smith as impact. Not sure what we can do with hunt
Reckon. Decent winger now. Decent defender in january an we be ok. Just can't get mcall speed strac and batt out my mind. They just went forward, our curent midfiekd do seem a bit undecisive wgat to do wirh the ball

HUNT: Brought in by BMC but is anyone else getting a bit frustrated in that he never lasts a full 90mins. Was it just looking after a mate with a paycheck? I think were playing OK and I'm hopeful that were good enough for playoffs but never anything better than 5th place. Pity cus I think were not far off having a decent chance. 2 good loan deals might make a difference. let's wait and see

unlucky today against a talented QPR side, we did not create much but battled and matched them all over the park, as it stands we have a good chance of the play offs.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Unlucky to lose but never looked like winning. We have to attack teams and force them into errors and put them under pressure. Not much creativity or flair in terms of unlocking their defence. Badly need some pace and skill in the final third if we are to compete.
On players I thought Hunt was abysmal and the weak link in attack. No confidence or first touch. Must play Poleon or Diouf if we are to score against the better teams in the league.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reply post, give a bit of credit, our team is a working progress we have players stepping up from the youth team and league one and today we played against a lot of prem players and we did not get outclassed, a couple more signings and we won't be far off.

Get ready for the Leeds Utd Supporters Complaints Department to hit this site en masse.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

For what reason? We lost a game to the one of the top tipped teams? Prices going up? Beer being taken away from the ground? Or just because we have just ran out of inspiration enthusiasm and perspiration?

31 Aug 2013 14:19:49
Real lack of width and quality in the final thrid, surely Hunt has to be dropped from the starting XI? Although, apart from Warnock (Who I felt was dreadful in possesion), thought everyone was decent in todays game and that we deserved a point.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with Hunt. What was the point of buying into someone one who doesn't play a full game? Do we need padding that bad. Wasnt a bad performance but not many realistic chances and creativity on goal

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Aug 2013 14:19:22
After first defeat i'm not been negative. I was already stating on posts games ago that we are so poor going forward. Yawn yawn so dire to watch again.
Hunt looks awful, who is going to score and even worse who is going to actually create? Yes ross with bit of magic but who else. Wright phillips and hoilett gave them so much pace.
Defence looks ok though warnock struggled today.
If I was bmd i'd be knocking on chairmans door saying look if you want to protect your investment get me couple more players. Yes u have helped me and yes we are hard to beat but we need creator and finisher urgently.
This team will not go up as it is, no way. Top 10 yes but let's go for it. Shrew leeds

Well first defeat, how can it be fare facing a premiership team. Parachute payments not a level plain.
Johnson, wright Philips, Austin. Shouldn't be able to afford them. What's the point if relegation if your given help to get re promoted

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Totally agree mate, it makes relegation much easier, if relegated teams get parachute payments to help them get back then all the other teams should get a rocket payment so we can compete. The FA is run by tories!

El hadj Diouf quality player, should be playing from the start.
Better player than Hunt.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree entirely. He can deliver, take the ball forward and have a shot at goal. I can't say I have noticed Hunt making any real difference. but am I the only one blind to his efforts? Can anyone identify his strength and what he provides to the team because i'm just looking at a guy here for the paycheck

Agree0 Disagree0

Hunt has been poor from the start. Substituted in most games. Has not scored much in the last few years and this does not look like changing. Misguided loyalty of McDermott's part. Diouf - held up ball wrongly today when we attacked and gave defence time to organise. Pace is poor. Rather see both gone.

Warnock was absolutely awful today this season infact only hole in our defence looks so uncomfortable on the ball shame as we played good warnock let the team down today lads : ( not happy hope he gets dropped plus diouf as winger only player that can truley cross in our team

pretty even first half too many punts forward by leeds
need to pass more and build an attack
barton goal was ok for me probably why austin foul not given
hunt weak link going forward for us at the mo
huff & puff in midfield no one making it happen
attacking kop end second half let's get it together and put a few in "come on leeds" more pressure & qpr will fold.

Can't wait for the game today, I watched the QPR v Bolton game last week on tv and thought nothing of them both. The only threat is Charlie Austin, neither team could string passes together and joey Barton was terrible. We can beat these today and Bolton on the 14th. COME ON LEEEDS

Not a rumour but more an observation. If Bates was still in charge which bid do you think he would have accepted for Ross? My guess is the first and he would have followed it up with slanderous comments in his propaganda pages in the match programme saying the usual 'players head turned' blah blah. 'held the club to ransom' blah blah. 'greedy' blah blah. In fact Bates was the greedy one with no class whatsoever.
Well done GFH you've got the fans back on side, shown some real class and sent a real message of intent out to the rest of the Championship. Leeds are on their way back! MOT
