I do hope the contrat offers are genuine, we need to tie these deals up asap

Agree9 Disagree1

Looks right your info was false then Keith. Middle of afternoon and still nothing. {Ed015's Note - not totally false, we have a sponser and max and snodgrass are being offered new contracts}

Agree1 Disagree0

Lets just hope they put pen to paper

Rachubka given the squad number 12 Hopefully this means he is the 2nd choice keeper then

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Old news.

Agree7 Disagree0

Well done, only took you a week

Agree7 Disagree0

He was given the squd number 12 yesterday

Agree1 Disagree0

Yes but we knew as soon as he was signed he wasn't our number 1...

Agree3 Disagree0

They said similar about Paynter

Have you heard the latest, smith would rather sit and do nothing at Newcastle for 60k a week than play for his home town club for 45k a week thats how much he loves leeds, thats reported on a link on Leeds utd transfer news , now are all you smith lovers gonna finally realise he is scum he chose the scum and he's gready, if he loved Leeds he wouldn't worry about the money dom matteo took more pride in wearing the white top of Leeds utd and he wasn't born and bred in Leeds.

Believable16 Unbelievable4

There's no official word from anyone that's on the Newcastle blog
old news anyway as that claim was made ages ago and there was no official response

Agree1 Disagree16

Well a few people are posting to the contrary
to my mind unless Leeds or Newcastle say this whole thing is a dead duck let's see what happens when transfer window opens

Agree0 Disagree14

Do we care, Leeds United is the club, not smith. It's about time we gave leeds utd as a club some credit, and not the players. After all, overpain nancy boys and spoilt brats. Wish i could get £1000 a week, never mind £45000. Add greedy to that too.

Agree15 Disagree0

I sort of agree with you. Bates is doing nicely also

Agree2 Disagree1

F*** him Hes a mercenary

Agree9 Disagree2

Well a few people are posting to the contrary- And? It's just as pheasible

Agree5 Disagree5

Fair point

Agree1 Disagree0

Talking crap

Agree0 Disagree3

The days of worshipping players is over at ER, you should have learnt that much from our fall When everyone else jumps ship to safety WE are the only ones left.

I searched these people and found them relatively easy to find. Maxi Moralez is said to have renewed his contracts on the 5th March 2011, so that's out of the window straight away. The other two, as far as i can see are available.. I highly doubt this though.

All you Smith lovers are in for a huge disappointment if you think he's coming back. He's going to put money before his "beloved" LUFC after all. It looks like the likes of me were right all along, the man's a fake. I'm glad personally, he's past it anyway. Hopefully in future we'll hear a bit less about him. Never has there been so much hype and fuss about such a limited player.

Believable14 Unbelievable5

Its people that have a childhood crush on him, its embarrassing as a club. {Ed015's Note - i would welcome him back, never once found him attractive tho... ]

Agree7 Disagree0

Was their any doubt in the first place, he sold his soul to the scum for higher wages, and people though he was MR Leeds, how humiliating. {Ed015's Note - he went to man utd because we needed the cash and no1 wanted him....}

Agree9 Disagree0

Nobody wanted him except Spurs, Liverpool and Juventus to name three. I'm so sick of this "he sacrificed himself to save us all" bollocks. Smith is no Messiah, believe me. {Ed015's Note - man utd was the only team willing to match our asking price}

Agree9 Disagree2

Ed I ment in a fanboy way not actual physical attraction pal. It's like boyhood idol, hero etc {Ed015's Note - i knew what u meant, im just trying to cheer everyone up, too many people are getting on his back, no wonder he crnt decide weather to come back, too many people slagging him off already, forget that he ever played 4 us or scum, out midfield is weak and he would strengthen it and add experiance, isnt that more important?}

Agree6 Disagree0

He had plenty of offers and stopped a bidding war in the process claiming the only team he wanted to go too was Man U. Other clubs could have wanted him, but because of his actions that never unfolded. I still believe their was more to this deal, he entered business dealing with Ferguson in Jan of that year. ;)

Agree10 Disagree1

To be fair to you ed, even if you remove the Scum connection the lad is a major risk, and unfortuantely the negatives that would come from him returning would more than likely outweigh the positives pal. I mean those in favour are correct he does try hard and he is experinced but the chance of him returning and getting us to the prem is One scenario in how many others? Id just rather be sensible and bring in a bright young talent instead. Once his NUFC contract runs out we'll be left to folk out the 45 grand tab and quite frankly Leeds cant afford to gamble such money on a very injury prone mediocre DMidfielder. Hope you can see where Im coming from despite the Scum argument, we cant go down the same path as the past. We need a wage budget and Smith would break that catasrophically in a years time. {Ed015's Note - you have to match age with experiance tho}

Agree3 Disagree1

He was landlord of a property as part of a widespread deal well before the Scumchester move I know what you're referring to lol lol ah well people regardless of what we think of Smithy it'll all become clear soon

Agree0 Disagree3

Who are you like his mam lol Of course you know his personal dealings who on here wouldnt............

Agree2 Disagree0

I can't believe how many people swallow the one about scum being the only club who'd give us the money we wanted. Blah, blah, ******* blah. Alan Smith did NOT save LUFC by going to scum. He could have done more to save us from relegation, but didn't. He was as overrated then as he's over the hill now. Signing him would be a huge mistake.

Agree6 Disagree1

{Ed015's Note - you have to match age with experiance tho}
You certainly do Ed, I dont disagree with you there but their are other players out there that arent as much of a risk, would be on a lot less wages, and wouldnt cause so much disharmony amongst A. the fans and B. Potentially the dressing room.

Agree2 Disagree0

Great post pal I agree completely with you here. Al Smith postpond the enevitble he didnt save us from it. Maybe getting back up to the premiership sooner would have gone much further, but no he left and we are where we are. Leave him to rot where he is I say.

Agree4 Disagree1

The deal was agreed in January, nothing more to say....
It isn't like red nose doesnt have previous form for this kind of thing.

Agree1 Disagree0

Why does it matter that he went to ManU. We all agree he had to go somewhere. Who cares really. Bet most of you would take Rio back. Plus smithy played his best football at Leeds. No one can argue that hes not a Leeds fan and if you do ur thick. MOT

Agree0 Disagree4

I think it's more likely that you are thick my friend for swallowing all the bs about him.

Agree2 Disagree0

Omg I hope we sign someone soon otherwise all we will do is fall out over contrasting views of mr smith roflmao oh dear nice one bates you need to dust your wallet off asap before I reach for another ill advised Bacardi ;)

Agree0 Disagree1

Thick? Really
More like your a gullible sheep my friend

Agree0 Disagree0

Bacardi thats macho

It isnt just about the Man Utd move the guys past his sell by date

A lot of people seen to be calling for us to sign a young keeper as no 1 but personally I'd prefer us to sign someone with a bit of experience, especially if SG is planning to give a chance to Lees or Gimpel.

Alan smith only joining Leeds because newcastle are paying 30,000 of his wages each week, so he is only coming back because of the money, so come next season if he plays well and his contract runs out he will go on a free to some club who's offering more money because it shows he's only in it for the money, what must howson, snods and bechhio think this idiots on a lot more money than me a week and is not as good they will be knocking on managers door demanding more money grayson don't bring him back let him go we don't need the hassle

Believable10 Unbelievable4

Well if he really wanted the money hed dig heels in and paid £60k a week or whatever at newcastle for doing nothing
it's not ideal if that's the case with smith but we will see what happens
ed what do you think? {Ed001's Note - it does worry me that a multi-millionaire like him is still expecting to be paid ludicrous money. It is not like he needs the money and has worries over his future, he could easily take a much bigger pay cut to bring him in line with his team mates.}

Agree1 Disagree4

I cant believe how many decent players weve let go simply because we refused a small wage increase, and now were discussing this untalented muppet returing for wages he wont even earn. Lets reward the players that have stuck by us and got us were we are today f*** Smith and any other old player looking for a last pay day.

Agree6 Disagree1

That's what I'm sayin if he really loved Leeds he would take the pay cut and fall into line regarding wages, but no he is holding newcastle to ransom you pay my wages or I stay here in reserves and pay me for doin nothing, how much does he love Leeds compared to money?.

Agree9 Disagree1

Must admit even I'm quite bemused by it. strange times

Agree1 Disagree2

Bemused or brought back to reality?
I use to really rate Smith, I was a big fan and I never thought he'd do what he's doing to the geordies. Hes had 60k out of them for the last 4 yrs for minimal work, and now he has the audacity to sit on the bench squeezing another yr of 60k out of them. He isnt the type of 'character' I thought he was, as a Player I didn't think he was like that, hes about the money not the love of the game which is disappointing to learn. Their all the same, hes a disgrace. I really feel sorry for the Geordies having to put up with the greedy c**t for another yr when that money could go towards a striker for them.Those who support Smith I bet you didnt agree with ex leeds players that held US to ransom with wages when they ought to have buggered off, why the excuses for Judas?

Agree6 Disagree0

If he comes to us simply for wages he'll be in for a shock when the barcodes stop paying their cut at the end of the season. Thats why he wont return to Leeds it isnt a secure deal for the greedy b*stard.

Agree6 Disagree0

At least some people realise what he is About time

Agree3 Disagree0

The tide is turning pal, people are seeing Alan Smith for what he is rather than through glasses of old.

Gents, Ed, can we have a serious discussion on who WE would like as our new keeper, I mean balancing up what has happened so far, we have got rid of what KB and SG say is a hot and cold and inexperienced keeper, I'm sure alot of you will agree when I say he was still top quality but SG is paid to spot these things. Hes brought in Rachubka, who he knows and probably trusts his experience, which at getting promoted at this level he has, we can't argue but unless he is No1 next year I really can't see us signing some one like Smithies (Unfortunately) as he is still inexperienced. Me personally would like to see us looking at someone like Lee Camp, experienced, capable and not old in goal keeper terms. I know he would cost but if a rival team can afford to take Kasper then surely we NEED to be doing same to improve on last term. Suggestions please?
