The keyword is patience
Be it Red Bull or Cellino; LUFC is a cheap way for a moneyman to gain the rewards of Europe. Past experience will tell any investor that Leeds United is a sleeping giant with money spent on, a top quality young squad who can grow together and a 4/5 year plan; it is not inconcievable that the Mightywhites will be up their challenging in Europe. We still have a strong fanbase at home ( despite all the trials and tribulations) and lots of dads abroad can tell their kids of the glory days that used to be. The name Leeds still means something in Europe and given Premiership football we have a strong case for inclusion in any Pan European League.
I do not need an owner who professes undying love for the badge but I do ask that he backs the club financially whenever needed. Its a bit like buying shares advice - only invest what you can afford to lose! But do it wisely and the dividends will come.
Unfortunately it will, at some point call for an injection of cash and just as importantly a liberal dose of Patience. If anyone knows of a Buddhist billionare?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - leodis, the plans for a breakaway league have been ongoing for a while - the clubs involved aren't looking to invite other clubs - when it happens the tv money will follow it and the whole structure of our league/s may change dramatically - anyone supporting a club now wishing them to spend bucket loads of cash are very naive.}

Hi ed, first I have heard on this (naive probably)
Can you provide any more info on this breakaway league thing?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - there are a number of top European club that have been in discussions regarding it for years now. UEFA held them off with the Champions League and the reorganisation of the UEFA Cup and Cup Winners Cup into the Europa League etc. It is only a matter of time before a pan-European greed-is-good league happens though. Leeds have not been involved in the discussions, nor are they anywhere near being included, the name means little in European football terms. Leeds are not a known power on the continent I am afraid. It would take a lot more than a mere infusion of cash to get anywhere near the discussions, just ask Man City, who have been presenting their case for inclusion just in the discussions recently. Right now they are excluded, as are Liverpool, and many others. Leeds have little hope of inclusion as things stand.}

Ed - The powers that be will only invite teams that can generate money. Viewing figures both live and "sky". I would take LUFC over Swansea, Tottenham, Southampton and over most of the Premiership given that we are challenging in the Premier League and playing attractive football. To do that is where the cash comes in but not buying the best. Spending wisely which may mean finding a Suarez in Europe somewhere or the cream of the youth worldwide and let them grow with us, hence the 5 year plan. The point I was making was that given a couple of decent years in the Prem then we still have the pull abroad to attract a following

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Ed 001 has summed it up perfectly leo - my biggest concern is what happens to the clubs left behind :( .}

ED
I've been following the pan-European discussions and think they could be flawed.
I know what your saying and I think it's inevitable it's going to happen BUT it will only be a success if fans pay to watch at the turnstiles and better still if everyone cancels SKY that will probably have broadcasting rights it will die a death don't you think??
The games only as big as the audience no!!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are talking about a UK audience though Andy, this is a world with TVs to watch European football.}

A Pan-European league, in my opinion will be a massive success, very simply if Manchester United can generate a crowd in excess of 70.000 watching the likes of Stoke, Leicester etc, then they are certainly going to fill Old Trafford watching the likes of Barcelona, Rael Madrid, Bayern Munich, every other week.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - Just the greedy getting even more greedy imo spanish - It's all about money not fans.}

Everything said is all pie in the sky. There will never a super league imo.
Whos going to pay for it long term?
Sky?
Its not viseable because no club ids guaranteed to have continued commercial and financial success.
Its been spoken about for nearly twenty years and I can't see why it will happen any time soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Sky? Why do people keep referring to Sly? They are not needed. Clubs like Madrid and Barca already sort out their own TV deals, if they were in a pan-European super league, their income from that would be guaranteed to be higher. Same with all the other clubs involved. I don't think you understand the business side of things if you don't see that. They would be guaranteed the financial success as there is unlikely to be a relegation to worry about, it would be a closed shop for the big boys.
Plus the future is online streaming rights for matches, which is projected to far outweigh TV money within the next few years.}

Bloody hate money, it twists and corrupts everything especially societys soul

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - greed is always a problem. People can't be happy with what they have, they always want more.}

Maybe if the big boys all join this soppy league it will open up a slot in prem for leeds (the proper big boys) I don't want much just want leeds to be on MOTD/MOTD2 so I can go a bed early, far too old to be staying up watching the FL show

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - at your age, I would want to be in bed before MOTD, let alone the FL show!}

Ah Ed 01, spoken like a true Buddhist, al suffering is self suffering, everything you do and say has an effect on everything around you and accept what is, not wish it to be more

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it is too much time watching Monkey as a child that is! Ah if only I could call a cloud by waving fingers in front of my mouth, I would be able to solve all the world's problems!!}

Lol, the good old Water Margins of Lang Shan Po. Loved Monkey, Pig was good an all!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - and the confusing monk who was clearly a woman pretending to be a bloke. The Water Margins was a different programme though wasn't it? That was the legend of the Chinese outlaws living there. I am trying to remember their names, I had the complete DVD box set years ago.}

Blimey, not sure now Ed, I know Monkey came out of an egg on top of a mountain but I thought The Water Margins was the place where they all came from!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no Water Margins was a separate programme mate. It replaced Monkey on BBC2.}

Cheers Ed, age and alchohol have blurred my memory lol

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I only remembered by copious usage of Google....}

So who will readers make captain for Tuesday? That will be interesting. Obviously Bellusci would be my choice. Any other suggestions?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would imagine it would be Warnock. Who is our vice captain? Knowing Redfearn it ll be Cook or Mowatt.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good point there Smitch.
Who is the vice captain? Do we even have one?

I think Darko knocked a bit of the stuffing out of our lads, so let's hope Redders can get it back. Love our club so much.

Hi all
I can't help but feel this red bull interest is all about us being white. Is it a new brand they are launching and need a promotional boost? I may be wide of the mark but the connection won't go away, we all know bates and gfh were difficult to deal with according to reports yet Cellino gets publicity in a kind of endearing madcap kind of way. Which I feel they would like-publicity is publicity after all!
I may be totally wrong but what does everyone else think

We used to play in red

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2014 22:11:34
I didn't expect a win in cardiff knowing we have just changed coach again and redders needs time to get that believe back in the squad but also the first team aren't eleven year olds! They go to look at themselves and think did I really give my all today? MoT

We were rubbish yesterday in all areas, biggest problem for me was the lack of flair and pace going forward no idea whatsoever against two banks of four from their defence, bottom half finish for us this year .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Were like the only club in the championship that has no wingers.we need them badly ever since gradel and snodgrass left.if we had 1 or 2 we would get way more out of billy sharp .

Agree0 Disagree0

Realism is that Redders needs time

Realism is Redders in y to be proven as a Saviour n Championship to Premir league terms

Realism is the squad still has holes

Realism, is that you chop and change leadership, squad and direction as much as Leeds have the there's even more iertia to get to a decent performance level.

Realism is. we'll love Leeds for ever.

Realism is. Realism is. Realism is. not this year. but maybe next. or maybe the next. or maybe the next. or maybe the next.

C'mon Lads. let's break this reality!!

In canaries at moment and been following weeks events on blogs etc. Cannot believe the doomsayers are out already, it must have been a really settled calm week at er with redders and the team calmly preparing for the game.ffs give them a chance the changes will have caused damage and we need time to settle and recover like any business. We must give the new set up our full support until Xmas and see where we are then.keep the faith MOT

Haha just flicked over to fc Nantes v Rennes and guess who is playing for Rennes HABBiBOU anyone remember him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Wish he stayed, better than morison and hunt, he actually looked like he had tekkers, also his scoring record abroad was decent.

Agree0 Disagree0

See him play live five times and though he had tekkers I thought he was largly amanomius and for that reason alone prefer hunt and morrision. Hunt tries and I still hope there is a good player in morrision ready to come out

I didn't watch or listen to yesterdays game and therefore could someone shed light on the formation yesterday. The personnel selected suggested a 4-3-3 which would have been a bold choice given the Cardiff despite their position are one of the strongest teams in the league. Before the 'Give him time' brigade chime in, I am interested as to why the change was made (I appreciate that someone different may have been needed), was there signs it could work in the future

Jeeeeeeeeez. Not that I am that surprised, but some people, honestly (mentioning no names). We are meant to be SUPPORTERS! I think some people just look forward to bad results so they can have an extra moan. Yeah we would all like better players, Jose managing us with Roman's money backing him - but let's get real, and get fully behind the team and Redders for the rest of this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Well said Speedy

Agree0 Disagree0

Some fans are sick of being behind Brentford, Rotherham and Bournemouth in the league. Surely proper Leeds fans will feel hurt looking at us sitting 19th yet again. I was pleased with the season up until the Wolves game. 7 games without a win will ALWAYS agitate fans, what are we supposed to do? Shrug our shoulders .

Agree0 Disagree0

Redders out, Cellino out, Red Bull in, Tony Blair CEO, Ken Bates club DJ, Anthony Worrel Thompson club Dietician, Melinda Messenger general secretary, Johnny Vegas head coach and The Stig team bus driver. Did I miss anything?

Agree0 Disagree0

Smitch
Don't you think we are all hurting just as much as you, or do you think you have got special hurting rights? But there's a difference between constructive (realistic) criticism and just moaning and casting gloom over everything. I heard the real fans singing MOT when we were losing at Cardiff yesterday. That's what proper fans do. But by all means, if you have a magic wand, wave it now

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2014 16:19:04
Spot on both posts Speedy. It ain't going to happen over night. We MUST get behind NR & the lads & keep the faith. When the good times come (and they will) I for one am going to really enjoy 'em MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Right, 'ere goes. Thing is, I am sure my son would love it if I were successful and rich, alas I aint. I want him to be the best he can be, though sometimes I am disappointed. But we love each other just the same. Loving Leeds is a part of my life, it makes me happy, proud, sad, frustrated til I pull my hair out ( there isn't a lot left ), but I Love Leeds all the same. that's also why I love this site, to be able to exchange views and celebrate or grieve together! I remember being on cloud 9 for ages after 92, skipping to work after matches as we rampaged through Europe to those 2 semi finals, dancing for days after our FA Cup win over United, I still have the t-shirt. There is no point otherwise, I may as well just support whatever team wins every weekend. Our delight truly is hard earned, but what delight when we get it. Get behind our boys and together we will succeed. MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with speedy and vid (as I normally do) however can see what Smitch is saying but I will say this and I know this is a bit irnonic coming from me but please give time. We are 19th as hock as a joke and never should of got near ER canteen let alone first team, Darko was talented but not right so we are low down it will turn round. Reddrers might not be the best coach in the world but I think he is good and right for us and ticks boxes squad is good so please give time. My birthday is march 22nd and by then things will look rosier with redders still in the job

Agree0 Disagree0

Vid
Thats what sums up us TRUE leeds fans ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with smitch its galling being behind little teams like them

Agree0 Disagree0

Ere ere vid (obviously lol)

It always hurts when we go on a poor run, when we lose I usually get over it by the next morning and put the next game at the forefront of my mind.
Be good to get two home wins to give us all a lift.

19th - it's been worse! let's just hope we bounce back Tuesday - we don't need certainty - that's not Leeds 😃

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said earlier

* I had a tenner on us to go up this season, done that after a 2/3 games

* I had a tenner on us for top half at the start of the season

* I was pleased with how things were going up until Wolves. I thought we were excellent against Sheff Wed and Rotherham (1st half) we got a good point and Norwich but we've taken 2 steps back of late

Agree0 Disagree0

Stubs
It's galling being below Man United!Let's hope it doesn't take too long to rectify that

I am sure that many of the faithfull will welcome Red Bull with Wings with the promise that we will soar up the table.

Personally, Red Bull has always given me a headache and insomnia - No Change There Then.

If Red Bull fails to deliver its promise (as claimed in the USA), will we all receive a tickets refund when we leave the ground?

So 5 games left for Redders then.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Redfern Out.

I'm guessing BW was just being sarcastic - or maybe not lol. Hard to tell with him sometimes

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Nov 2014 17:42:31
BW, you serious? Smitch, I know you are. Redders will do a good job.

Agree0 Disagree0

No in all honest no way redfern out, we always lose to cardiff, they are decent team and Redfern had about 30 minutes to prepare team. I like redfern and will support him until he gives me good reason not too (as Hock and darko did) losing to good team is not reason to turn agnst coach. One bad performance is not a reason to turn against coach (everyone can have bad day at the office) when I see long term problems not being address and same mistakes happening again and again or really underperforming I will say redders out. But I don't think that will happen. I never called for grayson, warnocks or mccd's head and I don't think I will ever call for redders. MOT and up the table we will go soon. Are we better than 19th yes and in time players and coach will show this by moving up the table MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok BW, fess up. What you been taking? And can I have some?

Wasn't at the game but just wondered how the back 4 played yesterday as they looked poor on the highlights - Bellusci particularly. He didn't jump with his man for the first goal, he backed off his man for the second & then he & Silvestri ballsed up for the second. Pearce looked to have a torrid time too but as I say just based on what was on the highlights - how was it yesterday? Whilst it sounds like I'm bashing the defence they don't really get much protection from the midfield sometimes do they. Still a work in progress though so not all doom & gloom. I never expected this season to be plain sailing & said months ago I would be happy for a season of building & consolidating & my view hasn't changed.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Nov 2014 08:59:52
Keep the faith people! Cardiff away was always going to be tough, an that's without being on a six match winless streak and another turbulent off field week. A couple of wins to stabalise us and we can begin building, just look at Newcastle!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

02 Nov 2014 08:25:07
Hear that Connor Wickham is looking to go abroad end of season to try and revive his International career

As he was on loan with us, should we try and offer him a permanent punt?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We are not really abroad though Essex, are we?
