Just thinking to myself- NW was adamant that the foundations of a promotion winning team was there. He said B McD knew he didn't have to change too much and it only needed 1 or 2 as the final peeves in the jigsaw! What a delusional, self serving joker he was during his time at Leeds. I get the impression B McD never agreed with his assessment. Just like everyone else in the world.

Very surprised to keep reading about everyone's criticism of Noel hunt!

Everywhere he has been people have praised his work ethic and most of all, consistency. Is that not the one thing we lacked last year?

I'm sure we can all think of games where the likes of Austin, varney, and white stole the show, but can anyone think of atheist 3 games that they did it?

Good signing imo, no upfront fee and a manager who knows his player, we never got that with the Cornish pasty did we?!

Varney's best spell followed McD's appointment, thank god we finally appointed someone who has a clue. The cornish pasty who bore a striking resemblance to a complete muffin should hang his head in shame. Anyway my point is Noel Hunt is ok with me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree. can't believe patsy got the chance to manage leeds at all. Brain dead. I used to have nightmares now I wake up with a grin!

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with these postings, he reminds me of a certain Alan Smith, 100% committed, chases down defenders dithering on the ball and comes of the field knackered, I for one would welcome him.

leeds 20/1 to win the championship hmmm dunno
but what I don't get is why are Bournemouth shorter odds than us for promotion or have I missed something dunno bout you folk but I think we will surprise a lot of people this year! My gut feeling!
Just hope elland road will be a fortress this season and after going to watford taking the points at the end of last season gives us the confidence to travel anywhere and pick up points on the road so I ask you how optimistic are you this year compaired to last and where can you see us finishing this season?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I can see a playoff place but it's not impossible for an automatic spot

You never know with BMcD

Agree0 Disagree0

Bournmouth have built a very good team in the last 2 years and they will finish in the top half, they will surprise a lot this year.

gary kelly wants coaching/ management my idea would be sign him as 1st team coach focus on defence in particular great role model for sam byram charlie taylor and kelly gets to start at the club he loves

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would be nice to see Gary back at Elland road - Proper Leeds Legend

Agree0 Disagree0

Good to see him in some role, even just learning the ropes or helping with the academy. All the top clubs do it with. Their former players. And Kells is a bona ride Leeds man. Infectious character as well. Good for morale.

what about paddy mccourt for 1 wing and gary mackay steven for the other? Mccourt Free Agent and realistically we can't spend fees on every player. Mccourt good player, add wabara, mills and ambrose and hunt we should be done with business.

sell/release brown, pearce tonge and one from norris/green

would = 8 in 4 out with the new squad representing the strength in depth that would be needed to be competitve in this division

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Celtic fans were glad to see the back of him- lazy seemed to be the general consensus so why would we want him? (McCourt)

Just realised that we have no out and out striker currently on the books! BMD must have someone in mind apart from Hunt because he's more in the McCormack mould. Poleon and Diouf not exactly strikers either. I wonder who it could be because surely we need a goalscorer for next season now that Morison and late last season Becchio have gone?! MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

McCormack scored 19 season before last and scored 23 in his 1st season at Cardiff. Think he's a pretty good poacher if he's given good support.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd say Poleon was an out and out striker, pace and shooting is all he has.

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith?

Saw this on SS. Sierra Leone international Mustapha Dumbuya has joined Notts County following his release by Crawley. Got to be a wind up. Mind you old Mr Warnock got a few of these in last year!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Out of interest, if leeds sign one or two more expensive and exciting players like murphy. What do you think the attendance be against brighton? I was thinking around 28 thousand maybe higher depending on the away support

Agree0 Disagree0

Its on the TV so doubt there will be that many.

Agree0 Disagree0

The brighton match isn't on sky, the qpr, Leicester and sheffield Wednesday is in August

Agree0 Disagree0

The brighton game isn't on tv even if it was still no excuse not to go and support the lads

Hello Noel Hunt.

Phil hay from YEP has stated that Noel hunt has officially completed his move to Leeds, to be announced either today or tomorrow. Might not score a lot of goals but he will definitely bring something to the team. MOT

if we have been given investment for transfers then these are the players we should sign

rowe-£500k+
wabara-£300k+
mills-loan
sharp-1.5million
bannan-loan unless fee under 2million is agreed.
and any opinions on a right winger?

with the right style of play and consistency promotion is probable and with a young squad a long term future in the premier league is possible and mcdermott can continue to build a squad to keep us where we belong for the long term future. only if big investment is made my ghf. wishful thinking MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

John bostock, just been released by Tottenham could be a good signing along with albert adomah as I think GFH are prepared to invest in young players with potential as they conveyed with murphy and not spending big on players at their peak like matt mills

Sorrry guys but we don't have any money. Watch the OS for the next few weeks. 1. Interest expressed in Byram, 2. We don't want to stand in his way, and 3. €6m sale and Papa Sumrf makes another handsome profit!

Just a thought considering all the "Where has our money come back" comments.

GFH saw first-hand how much of a mess the books were under Bates via the "Due Diligance" exclusivity period.

Did any of you really think that GFH would reveal their hand while Bates/Harvey were still around?

They've kept their cards VERY CLOSE to their chests until Bates/Harvey were out of the way. They might not have lots of money, and are clearly still looking for investment, but would you tell someone where you had your money stashed in your knew they were a crook?

I'm not saying we are financial rich, but I think we have more money (or at least had it ready to invest) long before Bates was due to step down

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Where is Bates now mate?

Agree0 Disagree0

Whoever replied, read my post again. Plank! Bates is gone, GFH had money all along, just didn't want him to get his hands on it!

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates is at the club in name only, he has no say or financial gain anymore, so he is as good as gone

I keep wondering what happening at ER? One day BMD says we skint and out of the blue we stump up over 1 million for Murphy! Not that i'm complaining, I hear he's a very good player who will step up no problem. Its just very strange the whole situation. Heres hoping that we have got investment from somewhere and more good up and coming players are on the way too! One more CB, CF, and winger should do the trick. ie. Kilgallon, Doyle and Adomah. MOT.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He said that he'd likely have to dispense of players to get more in.
That might be more along the lines of; we have a fairly high wage budget so, to bring in players, I'll have to get rid of some deadwood. Looking at the midfield, for instance; we have quite a lot of deadwood earning good money. Should we get in loads more midfielders and pay the deadwood for another season of nowt?

02 Jul 2013 15:57:32
So Noel Hunt comes in without getting rid of anyone! the plot thickens!

i agree it would be nice to everyone to put there name on here. it might stop the slagging off comments.
very pleased with yesterday as it showed we do actually want to speculate to accumalate back to prem.
the 2 signings are ones that were not expected so who knows whos next.
not sure about noel hunt but if he comes i'm sure he will give us better quality than we had.
i nkow its doubtful but le fondre for me would make the difference to lufc. shrew leeds

Seeing as the club has somehow been able to splash the cash in recent days, is it possible there's new investment or the possibility of new owners?
It was to my knowledge that GFH had insufficient funds so where is the money coming from?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Apparenty new investment from our chairman. He has injected 10 million into leeds for a transfer budget but i'm no 100% certain on this story yet. don't quote me on it. This was a diwn payment to get hin chairman. I couple more giid signings to come yet.

I do know we have bid 800k for reece wabaara and noel Hunt will be free Also a 700K bid for Ambrose has gone in. The next signing to come in will be simon church for 1. 25million. Watch this space

Agree0 Disagree0

Both simon church and darren ambrose are out of contract

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2013 13:07:49
Simon Church at 1. 25 million? Isn't that a lot for a free agent?

Agree0 Disagree0

Why do you guts invent stories?
Church is available on a Free so you confirm that you know nothing!

Agree0 Disagree0

I tend to agree with the view that there may be more fiction than fact to the post. However all should understand there is no such thing as a free player. if they are out of contract it is the player who gets the dosh whereas if they were 'in contract' their club would. It is what Bosman was all about. So just as an example someone like Church may be looking for a signing on fee of £250k, paid out during the duration of his contract, to be paid alongside his salary of 10k per week. A free player therefore might cost the club £1. 25m over 2 years. On top of this the agents fee is often separate and along with a football league levy that is payable on the full contract value, becomes due on the contract signing. The only true free signing is when you sign up someone nobody else wants!

When people say hunt wouldn't be a good signing because of his age look what Glenn Murray did last year I personally hadn't heard of him, then he finishes top of goal scoring list. if hunt comes give him a chance MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

If you had never heard of Murray then I will choose to ignore any suggestions made by you. He only scored 22 goals in league 1 to get Brighton promoted. {Ed013's Note - Not everyone knows of every other player in the football league! Give the fan a break, there are some Leeds United fans that come on here that can't name every player at their own club. Not everyone is a football fanatic like others are}

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree, MOT.

So it sounds like GFH have now found the money Brian needs. I don't think for 1 second this time last week Brian thought he would be buying players for 1.1 million, and blowing away (wages wise )clubs who are still reviving parachute payments. I think Mills would be a grate addition to our squad hope that it comes off, watt ever money Brian gets I no he won't blow it. His record in the transfer market is fantastic. It also looks and sounds like the days off us signing journey men are over. Noel Hunt will join IMO but he's not on his last legs ala Brown, I think he will suprise a few. I expect Hunt to be the only player over 29 we sign this summer. And a few more suprises I think prob players we have not herd off be4

Cant wait to here the excuses from "fans" as to why they won't come to ER or renew season tickets now, if not for financial / logistical reasons which we all understand.
Luke Murphy has stated in his interview that he wouldn't have come if BMc hadn't sold him on the type of football we will play and our ambition.
There is obviously more signings to come and our future is
100% better than this time last year.
Bates gone new Chairman and CEO, we spending money, cheaper ( not cheap ) tickets, great forward looking manager and a new atractive style of on the deck football promised, great fans and a 40000 seater stadium that needs filling. Happy Days ( compaired to last 8 years ) lol

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im sorry but all the fans that didn't show there support in the bad times i'd prefer them to stay away as they are obviously not real fans as the real fans stick by leeds in good and bad like every fan should so please plz stay away and go and support another team as we dnt want plastic fans thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

People say we are a sleeping giant and its only a matter of time b4 the good times come back. we have been getting the same crowds as Cardiff, Leicester, palace, reading etc but no one calls these clubs sleeping giants because they would be getting the same crowds if they were top of the prem. the fact is if we had a big enough stadium we would have averaged 50,000 a week under oleary and those fans don't now support anyone else. they have stayed away because they were getting ripped off while our best players were being sold by bates who did not give a dam about building a team just sorting out the finances so he could sell at a profit. they will all come back unfortunetley for you because I don't think your even a leeds fan. when the fairplay rules come in because of our massive support which a team to be proud of will bring us ,. our turnover will be bigger than half the prem teams when we get back there. how many prem teams are averaging crowds of over 35,000 and have national and international support. keep the faith

Think everyone should be registered with a name. Easy to slag other posters off if you haven't an identity. Its really funny looking at some responses to rumours that turn out to be true. Neally all the responses that are hilariously wrong or rude are from nameless posters. Other readers abused me last week when I mentioned murphy, accusing me of writing alex when they thought I meant ajax. Name up boys or shut up.
What a job mcd, from 90% pessimistic on here to 90% optimistic, things have changed overnight and one or two more great surprises and the promise land beckons and I reckon mcd is one smart dude! He just knows what needs doing. Get rid of more of the bench warmers and anfield next year!

totally agree.
i for one have been critical of team last year but it was justified in my opininon.
its amazing what just one signing for money changes our optimism.
all posters should have a name and if you want to make a silly comment then stand up to it.

Not a transfer rumour but just to say how good it is to finally see some positivity on this site from Leeds fans. Think murphy will prove to be a cracking signing but more than that a catalyst of good feeling between the fans and new owners, first million pound signing since cresswell I think shows some real intent to back the manager, not been had in a long long time
