Well we definitely need a creative midfield player! Who that will be is undisided and well need to sort the left-back situation out! We need pace and width in the wings! And as Warnock said a striker which I think is his priority! So on that note we could get Boyd
Thomas or Gradel
Simeon Jackson (can't get a kick at Norwich)
I know people don't like Ian Harte but I think he's our back-up just in case!

Best jan transfer Leeds could wish for is our twelfth man. Where are you? Leeds are what we are because of our fans! Attendances are still far too low and negative comments towards warnock and Leeds need to stop. We are supposed to be marching on together, not individually in different directions. Agree if your marching on together. MOT always forever. R.I.P Gary Speed.

The graham dorrans rumour can't be true as Steve Clark has said he is ok to leave the club for a price of £4 million so I would count him out I don't think George Boyd is that bad anyway we just need a midfielder who can put there foot on the ball and pass! Your thoughts ed? {Ed013's Note - I cant see Leeds paying 4 million on 1 player}

Believable8 Unbelievable1

I can't either not 4 million. personally I think British market very inflated I'm sure if we looked in Spanish French dutch or German league we could pick up a gem on the cheap. foreigners tend to be technically better so a creative midfielder should be able to be found I'm sure Karl mot

Agree3 Disagree0

I'd go as high 3 milly for Dorrans. I agree with Ed. We won't go as high as 4 for a player at this stage.

Agree2 Disagree0

Get warnock in there to cut it down to £1.5m then it'l be a good deal

Agree1 Disagree0

Dorrans is not worth £2million, never mind 4, price just inflated cos he;s at a prem club!

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree look at reading they picked up sporting lisbon's captain for just 600k and brian mcdermott persuasive person so imagine what warnock can do with 1 mil in that league

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2013 21:02:16
If it's true that Dorrans is available for £4M and we're interested then it shows the new owners mean business. Lets be truthful, if we want to challenge for promotion then this is the type of player we need & this what it will cost. If he's available then surely we gotta make a move for him because the chance to get a player of his quality doesn't come around too often. He's class in this division & he's the type of player we need. I would be very disappointed if we didn't at least make an enquiry. MOT

Believable6 Unbelievable5

02 Jan 2013 21:37:08
We don't need to spend that type of money at all .there's players out there for around 1 million that are fantastic players in this division no need to waste money. Just about taking the time to find the right player

Agree6 Disagree5

02 Jan 2013 20:31:50
Don't think we should buy anybody in the jan window to get us promotion, good loans will do the job. I'm not sure we can afford to buy players good enough to get promotion and cope with the premiership, we'll be lumbered with more dead wood (pardon the pun). If we get promotion then gfh may give some of the £60m for better quality players

Believable3 Unbelievable4

Yep. they will be waiting until May to address our situation, (champ or prem) before investing seriously in the playing staff.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jan 2013 21:41:11
If we buy players that are around the mid 20s then we can sell then on if there not good enough for prem league when we get there.

Agree3 Disagree0

We've got plenty of crap to get rid of now, we don't need any more

02 Jan 2013 18:43:02
Dean lewington would be a good left back for us from mk dons. Hed be hungry at this level too. rather than getting players coming for a last pay day. gleeson there centre mid looks promising too.

Believable7 Unbelievable6

02 Jan 2013 18:00:04
Alan Judge from Notts County would be a good signing, and his contract is up at the end of the season so could be fairly cheap

02 Jan 2013 16:56:29
Just an opinion not a rumour , Graham Dorrans was left out of West Brom's 18 man squad against Fulham even though he was fully fit. He's only 25 and was quality when West Brom were in the championship, definitely a good player to have in your team

Believable20 Unbelievable1

Now that for me wud be the icing on da cake!
irish leeds fan!
p.p cant see it happenin though i think we tried to sign him in the past im not sure? correct if im wrong ed {Ed013's Note - He is available, but I am sure interest is high and we have been linked in the past}

02 Jan 2013 16:13:02
In my opinion George Boyd, Craig Mackail Smith and a decent left back can certainly secure us a play off spot. We also need to keep our loan players and sign Tonge up. MOT !

Believable8 Unbelievable5

Yes I'd take those 2, sign tonge not Thomas, and don't let anyone go.bit of a chance then..shrew leeds

Agree3 Disagree4

Who is the decent left back?
we could say that about any position. A decent goalie and decent defence and a decent set of strikers oh and I forgot? a decent midfield.
That said and in place we should have decent season.
We need decent all over.

Agree7 Disagree5

If you ask some Leeds fans, they would suggest Leighton Baines. or Ashley Cole as a "Strachan type signing".

02 Jan 2013 16:00:31
there are two ways of getting promoted.
1. buy players that have hunger and that are good for the championship with a large aount of money, managed by a manager who can manage them properly.
2. buy players who are cheaper that will perform, grafters, maybe older players that know how to get out of the league, which you can get without having a lot of money.

number two my friends is how neil warnock gets out of this league, he has proven it over the years but this is also why he is a bad premier league manager. because in the premier league you need to spend money on younger more skillful players. that is what neil is trying to do now. ed? thoughts?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

Or the alternative, get more points than the other teams....... yeah :o)

Agree6 Disagree0

That's what Neil is trying to do now?? Hill and Derry? Think not.

Agree2 Disagree1

Yes that is what he is trying to do, derry and hill are older as i said, and grafters as i said, they also know how to get out of the league as they did it with qpr, thanks for backing my point up mate.

I really hoped that the players that NW has gone for that have been rebuffed are the old codgers. He got all our hopes up by looking at the likes of Chris Wood only for it to be followed up by Hill, Derry and now Blackstock. Talk about bursting our bubble. Why can't he look at players that are under 30 and haven't already played for him. Have he and his coaching staff no clue apart from old has-beens? We all know that we need young hungrey players mixed in with older heads, but come on we don't want a team full of pensioners, only to be stuck with them. Come on Neil, take the rose-tinted spectacles off.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Blackstock's 26 but I agree that we need fewer over 30s. However, doesn't matter hat I think; NW likes the old pro's and it is his views that count!

Agree1 Disagree2

02 Jan 2013 16:05:44
Totally agree, derry was slow 5 years ago and i feel his heart wasnt in leeds utd, i dont want him back, please NW bring in some real talent we can progress and keep for when we are in the premiership! MOT

Agree4 Disagree0

Blackstock is a good player who hardly gets a look in at florist! Similar to becchio in the sense he's strong, good in the air and is a very good finisher - I don't know why people are moaning at the possibility of signing him!

Scot MOT!

Agree10 Disagree3

3rd reply chappy... if Blackstock hardly gets a look in at forest then he aint good enough for us, are you his agent/dad??

Agree6 Disagree2

Gradel didnt get a look in a foxes, so he came to leeds

Agree3 Disagree1

4th reply 'chappy'...

the reason he dont get much of a look in is because of a certain Billy Sharp who tore us apart and simon cox who they paid £2m for! i'm a leeds fan living in Nottingham and imo he's as good as our strikers without doubt. are you sayin somma and varney are good enough for us just because they play for us!?

get a grip mate just because he can't get a look in somewhere else it doesnt mean he can't do a job - like another poster puts - Gradel couldnt get a look in at foxes - was he not good enough you twonk?!

That is the only way this word should be used. It doesn't matter that you write it in capitals, unless it follows the above rule, it means nothing.

Well it has been a while since i have posted. I have watched most games this season and to be honest a half decent team in this division would walk away with it Cardiff are very average. Many of you Leeds fans will not like what i have to say, but if i was GFH and NW i would be seriously looking at next season, it is there for all that we need 5 maybe 6 top players, OK in recent years teams have battled their way out of this division, but most games this year we have been out passed, we just can't hold on to the ball, the form teams have all got ball players either at the back or midfield, we need a mid field who can play, move and pass the ball.
sorry but we cannot battle week in week out running after the ball like we do and then give it away. again pace is vital at this level and we seriously lack pace.
But taking all this into account the squad as done remarkably well and NW needs applaud-it's, he as done a great job in poor circumstances, i really do feel that going into the premiership this year is too soon, we need to rebuild from now with good players that sign up on contract, loan players are just not the answer, if we let NW get on with things in his way with money behind him, i am convinced he will get us out of the average division. I say average because it is a million mile away from the premiership.
Lets all get behind each other and not criticise the team and staff, we will get there i am sure. Kevin

Believable12 Unbelievable1

02 Jan 2013 13:25:46
Its never too soon to get promoted to the prem league . So what if you come back down we would come down miles richer than we are now .we would come down with player experienced in prem league .sure we would lose our best players on way down but we would have money to replace then with decent players anyway.then there's the possibility that we might manage to stay up .so to say too soon is just silly daft and not ambitious at all.

Agree5 Disagree2

You do not even watch Cardiff yet you brand us 'very avarage'. We gave liverpool a run for there money got to the capital one cup final with a squad worse than the one we had this year. We have 12 wins out of 13 at home. 4 wins in a row away we are 7 points clear without playing well. Is that what you define as 'very avarage'.

Agree1 Disagree1

The West Brom approach to Premier league survival. Yo-yo for a few seasons and eventually, you convincingly stick. Unfortunately, I agree with the original poster. Too soon to go into the Prem is when you go up and get thumped by almost everyone. Then, it seems to take at least a decade to rebuild after all confidence in the team and club is destroyed.
Yes, it can be too soon to go up to the Prem.
Warnock out. Long term manager with vision to come in and build for the future.

Agree2 Disagree1

02 Jan 2013 12:39:21
Looks like we needed Hughes to have stayed on as QPR manager. I know people say Derry and Hill are old but they would've replaced Brown and Kisnorbo effectively so they would have improved our squad. Am sure we are after younger players too but we could've done with capturing these two. The failed capture of Wood only means we can't pay the wages they do like 25 a week. We are more in the 17/18 a week ballpark.

Believable6 Unbelievable4

02 Jan 2013 12:18:48
My new-years resolution is ... not to expect good signings, not to expect premiership football, not to believe that Warnock is a good manager, I may yet get a pleasant surprised, you never know?

Believable10 Unbelievable3

I think this is a very sensible outlook, if you aim too high, you have a greater chance of disappointment. Realistic we will bring in a few players who used to be quality and probably have a lot to offer in the future as coaches (like Naylor), and, hopefully. a couple of future stars who have not quite realised their potential yet. Unfortunately, our manager or our team in its current position do not have a big enough reputation to sign any major players. I would love to see an Austin or a Zaha come to Leeds but its not going to happen...yet.

02 Jan 2013 11:59:42
Not a rumour just a thought. Anyone think that Danny Fox from Southampton would be a good addition at left back? He has a good left foot and is a threat at set pieces, the Saints could let him go as he is not getting in to the first team due to Luke Shaw breaking through from their academy.

Warnock said, "if we are in and around the playoffs by Xmas then that's a success" ..where are we? 2 points off having played the top teams and taking points of half of them!

It's been ugly, but the 1st half of the season has seen us reach a quarter final, take points off the relegated sides, Bates removed feom his tin pot position, and sit 2 points adrift of the playoffs going into a transfer period
With backing...season isn't over yet!

I think he did a good job against Kevin Davies (who is always going to be a handful) Won his fair share of headers. His distribution was poor however. From what ive seen he looks the better of the 3 centre halfs we have been playing.
Bolton looked a poor side as did Leeds but the 3 points gained could be vital.

Agree2 Disagree0

Didn't care if it was a scrappy game as long as the 3 points are ours for the taking! I enjoyed it at ER tuesday only 22'300 there but better than 17'000 other week. Half way through the season now and to be fair warnock done a great job to say the cicumstances have been piss poor this season. if he can get a few vital positions covered this january then we are defiantly in with a shout. onwards and upwards MOT!!

Jerome Thomas don't look like he's signing as he's gone back to west brom and everything he's tweeting doesn't sound like he's heading back to us I'd much rather try and sign grades mind any thoughts

Believable13 Unbelievable2

I hope this is true, he has not got the work rate/ effort needed for this league. we can sign players who are just as good/better.

Agree8 Disagree0

02 Jan 2013 02:21:10
OK it's certainly not pretty. But believe it or not, we are definitely in with a shout this season of finishing in at least the top six.
No I'm not still drunk after New Year's Eve. The January window is upon us - wouldn't we all have settled for this position at the start of the season if we'd known the takeover was going to take so long?
There appears to be a lot of moaning about Warnock's RUMOURED transfer targets. I have a suspicion that nobody really knows who the boss's true targets are. I just have a feeling everything is being deliberately played down by the club. We may have some pleasant surprises waiting for us.
Just one last thing - would signing Clint Hill really be such a bad move? He was the main reason QPR held out for so long against Man City in last season's final game. If he can perform like that against the champions I'm sure he could do a job for us.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Good pointtt, so many people quick to moan. I am almost 100% sure that who ever we sign nobody will have mentioned.

Agree1 Disagree2

Clint Hill was woeful against Liverpool. He got beat to easily too many times.

Agree3 Disagree1

Clint Hill won't be playing against someone as good as Luis Suarez in the championship. If he does sign he will only be a short term fix ie help us win promotion then we could buy a better centre half to replace him. Cardiff have a few players like this (T Smith, Helguson, Matt Connolly, Lappin) who have proven to not be good enough for premiership but they are good championship players and at the minute look like being champions.

Agree3 Disagree1

Helgerson got 8 goals in 13 apperances in the prem last season. Mark Hughes chose names over quality and got rid of good players. Connolly will be able to make the step up. I admit that smith and helguson will not be able to make the step up. If they were 7 years younger they would be prem class

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jan 2013 01:09:24
I have to say after today's game we were rightly criticized for being poor not least of all by ourselves. But in sharing responsibility for every bit as bad as they were on the pitch we were just as bad off it. The atmosphere in the first half was as flat as iv ever heard it (or not heard it). We didn't get behind the team at all and the performance was just as flat. In the second half we got behind the team a lot more and although the quality didn't improve dramatically the effort did and we got our reward in the end from what was otherwise a dreadful performance.

Lets get behind the team and influence the things we can control. Lets take some positives we have won every game we have played this year, we have not conceded a goal this year, lets keep it going and lets get this great club back to where it belongs.

Yeah well i was in the south stand still partying away, crap game but i enjoyed myself and we got the 3 points, what is there to moan about?! not only did we win, we abused the fat bolton fan and he loved it, great banter going about between the sets of two fans. although bogdan got a bit of stick for his wavey ginger locks haha. LEEDS SPENDING: Interested to read in the YEP that NW states that WOOD was a target but at £1.25m it was beyond his financial budget. Thats obviously taken into account money being made available by GFH. This rumoured £8m investment in the team will probably be filtered into wages and top ups so we had better not get too excited expecting the likes of CMS and others at (£3m). I was actually looking forward to the transfer window but now feel like booking a skiing holiday instead and writing off the next few weeks. Someone wake me up in April and let me know if its worth attending the final matches. Note: GFH.... Your gonna have to do a lot more to win over fans confidence cus you aint giving us any more than KB did. 'Team or club'

Believable5 Unbelievable5

02 Jan 2013 02:06:53
it wasn't the fee paid to buy him that was the problem it was the fact that we would be up against a team that's willing to pay more wages.if we offered him 20 k they would just price us out and offer 25-30k simple as that.

Agree4 Disagree1

Dear me the window has been open one day, what did you expect.By the way its not the £1.25m which was the problem its the £30.000 per week which was, and rightly so.You get off on your skiing holiday and have a good time.

Agree8 Disagree1

What a shocking excuse for a fan you are, people would love to be in the position to be able to afford to go down ER but you simply just cant be bothered, just move to Switzerland and ski to your hearts content

It was disagreement over wages i heard, no transfer fees. He may have chosen leicester over us regardless because he might have seen them havin a better chance for promotion

Every fan in the world knows what we need
Warnock doesn't seem to have a clue
The difference is, that most leeds fans want a mixture of old and experienced and young and quality.
Warnock is only looking at 6 -12 months and buying players to get us promoted. Old boys who will be worth nothing to anyone after that.
I would rather get promoted next year with a team half capable of staying up rather than old codgers who can't play at top level
If warnock can't build is a team for our future ( not for him ) get someone who can.
What we got can play but he doesn't let them!

Believable11 Unbelievable4

I dont care who we buy or what there age is as long as we get promoted, when we are promoted we can then worry about getting the type of player we need to stay in the Premiership.

Priorities for me are to get a left back (Parr), a winger & a creative midfielder signed up!

Personally I would like to see a cheeky bid for Chris Burke from Birmingham, bags of pace and a fantastic player...with their financial troubles at the moment £1million might see them snapping our hand off?

I remember warnock quoted as saying, in justification of selling Clayton to the dogbotherers "I can buy a much better player for the money I get for him". I much admired that statement and thought we were on for good times with Warnock, he then brought in Austin. I thought we had hit jackpot with Warnock but then his team selections and style of play have proved me completely wrong. Even at grass roots level teams play a 4 4 2 with guys on the wing who can cross the ball and in the middle of the park one ball winner and one who can create a decisive pass, not aged slugs who argue with the ref consistently just to get themselves a breather.
Lets get some of our youngsters in and amongst the squad, give them a taste of Leeds Utd and the atmosphere of 20K+ plus fans at the true theatre of dreams.
The badge is placed over the heart for a reason. Please get shut of the "slowing down for retirement brigade" at our club and get in "if your hungry and good enough you will be cheered on all the way" brigade.
Once more to the prem dear friend? MOT

Believable13 Unbelievable2

So you're still saying it was wrong to let Clayton go? He's really pulling trees up this season isn't he?!? League One is about his level. I work with a Huddersfield fan and he thinks the same as me - when the going gets tough, Clayton disappears.
