Great performance today against supposedly the strongest team we face in warm up for the season. Great movement and passing, good in possession. He's had a lot of stick but Morison looks like he can do a good job for us, played well up front and tracks back to break play up, Soukara looks a technically good player, caused lots of problems for dundee defence and will chase lost causes. Bianchi looks the part, was unlucky not to score. Rudi looks a different player hopefully will maintain his form throughout the season. Lewis cook coming on in his place looks completely unfazed so maybe pressure of rudi a little. Still worry we lack a bit of a cutting edge at times, probably should have won by 3 or 4 today, made opposition look quite ordinary.
Having seen them for first time I am quite optimistic, . roll on saturday!

Just listened to the Hock's post match interview on LUTV and I was quite impressed, talked well about how the midfielders had to be braver and get the ball down and play. He also recognises that we still need to strengthen in some areas (hopefully a striker and centre half) as well as only looking towards the game against Millwall, one game at a time.

good win today played pretty well. Maybe the Hock has something.

Well the Snail today seems to think he is not as stupid as we all think. Great article about him well worth a read guys

There's an article on the Daily Wail website on Hockaday that everyone seems to have missed. It looks as if it was posted yesterday and updated today. The gist of it is that he's not as daft as he looks. Which is good to know. If you can believe anything from that source .

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Liked the part where it talks about our great managers down the years, the don, sgt wilko & brian clough?

Agree0 Disagree0

Never noticed that article as I was wiping my bum on it!

As much as I viviani to join anybody else think mc is playing games with him to show him who is boss and teach him a lesson about his attitude also heard we are looking into vaz te again before anybody shoots me down this has come from a youth team coach at er
Mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not too sure what lesson Viviani gets out of it as we miss out.

Agree0 Disagree0

The lesson he will get Is if his attitude isn't right he won't be signing for LUFC.

Remember the Italy trip?

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy your overestimating our current clout in the football world. Speaks volumes if Viviani see a Serie B as more favourable than us, but of course lesson learned for him

Notts
According to certain reports Viviani kept moving the goal posts and demanding more and more. His agent has denied this but something broke down somewhere for one reason or another.

I think if we could get 3 more signings of Cooper, Agard & Bamford we would see exciting times ahead. We have some great juniors (now older) that are maturing and with these signings we would have a great up and coming young squad. Granted they need time, but Rome wasn't built in a day! I know we as Leeds fans have been through tough times but waiting a little longer won't hurt if we can see the signings brought in. Also I was disappointed to hear the flack Morison received. C'mon fellow Leeds fans we are better than that! He's wearing the shirt so let's give ALL our guys support.
I think good times will be here soon. Keep positive everyone!
Ps. Can someone please tell me where in midfield Tonge was playing today v Dundee? Cheers MOT

{Ed013's Note - Tonge is playing with Murphy and Bianchi in the centre of the park on the left hand side and is playing very well}

United started the game brightly and were in front with three minutes of the referee's first whistle. Great build-up play from United's midfield, namely Michael Tonge whose break into the box led to him crossing for Steve Morison who placed the ball into the back of the net ;)

Thanks Ed.

{Ed013's Note - No worries}

Just back from the Dundee game, even though it was a friendly It was fantastic to see some great passing football and build up play. We may be a bit lightweight but a few choice additions and an old head could make all the difference to a young team that will only get better.
Berardi and Bianchi are all comfortable on the ball, Silvestri looks impressive, Doukara is a right handfull and had a good game, in fact the whole team did well.
Why Morison gets so much stick I don't know, today he was tracking back making some great tackles and scored our first goal to end some great play, only a tap in but the lad was there when he had to be.
Millwall next, let's get off to a flyer, good luck Leeds for the coming season. MOT

Squad numbers interesting. Recall Matt Smith made comment about not buying shirts with his number on prompted rumour he was leaving but he's been given 9 & Morison 19. This must all have been sorted a while ago?
If presume 5 is gap as it was Lees then was he first choice CB not Wootten? So why let him go before replacing? This is definitely a time of transition and a few more ins (and outs?) before transfer window closes. This means unsettled side for first 4-5 games as team evolves. Great chance for some of younger lads like Killock, Dawson, Cook, Mowatt to stake a claim and keep their place.

On this and other sites I keep seeing a justification for Cellinos anti-climatic (so far) recruitment programme that "at least he has got rid of the deadwood". To my knowledge the following players have left the club; Ashdown, Drury, Green, Brown, Varney, Diouf, Lenighan, Turner Twins, Bryan, Tiesse, Ariyibi, Lees, Peltier and McCormack. Out of these 15 players, 12 were out of contract, Lees and Peltier were practically given away for free and he over achieved with the fee for McCormack. Don't get me wrong I will not shed a tear for Peltier or Lees leaving however moving them on for practically nowt and replacing them currently with nowt is not a ringing endorsement of getting rid of the deadwood. Cellino has achieved some good things at the club but it is important that we do not get blinkered to some obvious failings due to the current "love in" he has with some fans. I am not anti-cellino but I am concerned with the current state of the squad.

Wasn't that far back that 90% of us were shouting 'bring the kids in' (not in a Rolf way obviously) and get rid of Jedward (might have been deadwood come to think of it) . Not replaced McCormack yet or Lees but guessing MC either knows a young un worth a chance or has someone lined up!

Say they were on £10k a week x15 players £150k is a serious amount of money to be spendin EVERY week. Its not all about getting a sell on fee as these guys are costing you £50k a month each, give or take a few bob.

I understand your frustration and I for one was hoping for a few more signings before the season starts.

Lets hope MC has a few rabbits up his sleeve ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy you raise a fair point but in the case of centre defence his decision has left us painfully short. Losing Lees was the right decision but we probably should have had a replacement in the wings as the chesterfield lad was only in tentative discussions. Unfortunately "Heart" seem to rule "Head" with some of Cellinos decision making. We may not agree on the way Cellino goes about things but I respect your reasoned opinions MOT

I'm with you notts but not going to give my thought on it as I'll only get shot down!

Agree0 Disagree0

APN, always share your point of view, as long as you validate as to why no-one should shoot you down. Others might not agree with your opinion but should not disrespect your right to make it. The debate due to differing opinions is what makes this site great

I agree with most our transfer policy is baffling. I am hoping next week is a big week for us, but lack of inbedding time is cause for concern. I think hockday appointment is main reason. But at the same time getting experienced managers has never helped us in recent seasons. It'd be no fun been a Leeds fan if everything was straight forward. It's like my kids I love them but they drive me mental at times but that love never stops and keeps getting stronger. MOT
