Have to say I can't wait for the season to start. Things are starting to look up. 32,000 at the game tomorrow, Bates gone and talk of the club buying back ER and TA. I'm not expecting miracles this year and think the squad is short in some areas i. e Wingers, Prolific Striker and Center Half but I think we're heading in the right direction and GFH should be given time and patience. Great to see the whole of Leeds getting behind the team. Hopefully we start we 3pts tomorrow against Brighton. MOT

Ed, What website will have commentary tomorrow? Have no DAB and living in Ireland. Cheers

EnnisWhite {Ed001's Note - does the tune in radio app have it?}

The tuning app has it on mine ed but it was found when searched on "local", so depending where you are it may or may not pick it up I am guessing

Buying back the stadium but no players in when we are clearly short in key areas. The only explanation is that GFH are working to there own selling agenda. Promotion can't be guaranteed even with player investment. A club owning their own ground would always be a better prospect to sell. Either way things are getting better than the Bates years. The next owners will be the mega bucks outfit. The future is coming slowly into focus. Mot tomorrow boys!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Our current players will be fine up til xmas, then the new stadium sponsorship deal can be used in January to push us up the table.

Agree0 Disagree0

It has nothing to do with their buying agenda, the money is coming from a sponser in return for naming rights - they couldn't use the money to improve the squad.

However in the long term it will free up cash for transfer fees/wages as we will no longer be paying £2m rent a year

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm in sydney and was listening to tv radio Leeds yesterday no probs. if televised I use wiziwig.

Alright. Getting narky now because I can't sort this. Anyone in OZ know what program's to download to possibly get the game Saturday? Last year I used Ustream for the first half of the year but then couldn't get it after that. I've heard radio leeds but can't download as its UK only. Any help appreciated!

Firstrow that's what I watch all the matches on and its free

What happened with this investment? seemed to be a boom in people mentioning it last night but today nothing?

Its worth reminding ourselves that the purchase of Elland Road does not mean that the stadium belongs to Leeds Utd. It just means that the stadium belongs to the same people who own Leeds Utd. There's a subtle but important difference!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Whilst the OP is probably correct, surely it would still be better for future investment

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but I don't understand this post? If we are given enough money to buy back the stadium then it WILL belong to us ?

Agree0 Disagree0

It is always that way for any club anywhere and was for us til the time we sold it. As the saying goes, you can have shares in something but that same something doesn't have shares in you! The important part will be the club will own the ground again.

Agree0 Disagree0

It won't happen like that. gfh are an investment company looking for investors. The main stumbling block for most would be investors is the lack of assetts to offset the risk of investment. Leeds United or leeds holdings ( parent company) can provide that with owning ER. Buying the business under any guise would be counter productive.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2013 13:04:35
Why does everyone go mad when they hear the word investment and go on a run saying were going to sign this player that player when gfh haven't even comfirmed investment yet.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

03 Aug 2013 09:27:51
But GFH leaked the investment story to the media apparently.

I have heard from someone I don't really know who's not connected to the club that we aren't signing anyone today. You heard it here first! #MOT hope to see you all there tomorrow c'mon LEEDS!!!!

Does anyone think that the 'new' leeds website could be due to a rebranding of the club

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Considering it is themed with everything to do with the club most likely no

With a new multi million investment through the door, Big Brian Mac is bringing is targets after the Brighton game. Expect big and exciting names. Gary Mac Stevens back on the cards, Adomah and tommy rowe also keen. Kevin Doyle, ALF or Nathen Delfonso will be the new number 9. The new cb will be roger johnson or Matt Mills and new keeper will also now be on the agenda. FACT. MOT see you all saturday!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gary Mac Stevens is out injured for 3 months

I see John Fitz is back with a new name!

Agree0 Disagree0

GHF will not buy players until players leve the club. The investment deal is to do with the ground, I'm not saying it will not give Brian funds because it will due to us not paying rent but I wouldn't expect any players arriving on big wages. By the end off the window I expect us to have a winger and a centre half. Maybe a goal scorer if one off our strikers leve.

Ed I wanted to post this out of interest. This is to everyone, if we didn't get promoted this season, being realistic, what would you be happy with otherwise?

Personally i'd be happy with a playoff scrap and maybe a cup. ER and TA buy back would also be nice. It'd be good to see that we're serious and are becoming a force to be reckoned with again.

Cheers,

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd be happy to make the playoffs and do a Bradford in the c1 cup and even if we finished 15th but won the cup I would be happy as we would be playing in the europa league therefore the owners would have to invest in the squad to compete in it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would be happy with a buzzing 30k crowd each week behind the team regardless of win or not. I just want a team to play at the best of its ability and for other teams to wobble when they walk out each week and try to play against the team and the crowd. 6-8 place would be fine it if that's the reality of the players that we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

Europe via 7-0 fa cup victory over mu with byram scoring all 7 increasing value to $30mill and man u fielding un registered player and getting deducted 15 points following season and relegated in our promotion year!
Thatll do me

Agree0 Disagree0

IMHO; As long as every player who pulls on "that" shirt gives 100% I couldn't give a flying fig about promotion this season or next!

But would expect promotion in 2015/2016 with a young and experienced squad and to keep us in the PL

am I missing the point.
yes its good to have elland road as an asset.
but i'd certainly prefer money spent on players to go up instead of the ground at present.
it maybe there was no option as investor was only interested in that but like to see details when out.
you would have thought that with getting up this would generate the cash to purchase the ground as well as new players for prem.
perhaps i'm missing the point. shrew leeds

yes but we spend 2mil a year on rent so if we owned it then that 2mil can go towards transfers

Agree0 Disagree0

Maybe we can't change the name unless we own it, therefore any investment on naming rights of the stadium would invole us buying the ground back so we change the name?

Agree0 Disagree0

Looks like the investment is coming from a company looking at sponsorship opportunities rather than a percentage of the club and a direct return on their investment. They would gain nothing from their money being spent on players whereas a ground buy back/sponsorship is win, win. The investing company gets ground naming rights while the club own the ground freeing up the cash that would have been used for ground rent, (£2m per year if local press are to be believed) which can then be invested in the squad

Agree0 Disagree0

Your right in a way mate but mayby the investors wanted some collateral for there money

Agree0 Disagree0

Having the ground back would mean a saving of 2mil (i think) a year on rent, that coupled with more attendances (lets say 5000) would mean the club are between 3-4mil better off a year.

Although not immediate, would allow us to add in January for the final push. I reakon we have one (2 at most) more signing in us before the window shuts.

and let's not forget, if we own that stadium it makes us more attaractive to perspective buyrers (fortifying the chairmans statement wanting to sell in 18 months)

IMO he is setting up the club for a sale. As in the perspective buyer is already engaged.

Agree0 Disagree0

Once we buy ER and TA back we save £2m a year, that could then be spent on players every year instead?

It's thinking long term for once.

Agree0 Disagree0

Totally agree with you. if they want to buy ground wait til we are up. we need players not to own stadium.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thinik you are missing the point
Sinnyboy

Agree0 Disagree0

I think maybe you are Shrew, surely owning you're own ground and not having to pay 2 mil per year to the council is better for the football club not only short term but long term as well, you have to have solid foundations in which to build a team capable of challenging at the highest level and personally I think this is a massive step in the right direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

You are missing the point, I don't know how much the rent is but I think it's 2 mill a year which could be put into the team every year.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair comment lads I missed the point.
Didn't think about the 2 mill a year saving but then again what have we paid. you don't give away a good earner.

once the proposed investment is completed not only will leeds be the proud owners of their own stadium and training facility, but the green light will be given to complete transfer plans, before the currently required one in one out. The dead wood will still need to be culled, however, improved finances will mean we can buy first. In addition the loan deal for the turner twins means one deal can go ahead now. mot.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The turner twins if they are lucky are on about £500-750 a week that isn't going to free up much wages for a new player.

Dr. frank n. steine here,
i'm an expert on injuries and would be happy to replace sams hip, all we need is a willing (or dead doner) to assist me and my colleges mr burk and his assistant mr. hair. my medical background is of the experimental type but what the f**k we could patch him up for now.
my psychiatrist is with me all the way. aaaaaaaarrrrrg

Medical GP here. When discussing Sam Byram this summer, it's been all transfer and value speculations. I'm more worried by his health! He's out for Brighton game "with the same hip injury that made him miss the end of last season". "Will have an injection, and situation evaluated after a week". In medical terms this tells it's a chronical disorder, and when bothered him so long, the injection won't work! My sad conclusion is that young Sam with odds 80/20 will need surgery, and will be out at least until christmas, probably longer. Not all players will regain momentum and ability when they suffer breaks like this so early!
Hope I'm wrong, believe I'm not!
Sorry!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont you mean chronic physical disorder. there is no such word as chronical it is chronicle which is a journal. a medical professional would know this.

Agree0 Disagree0

OP, additional comment: Sadly this is what HAS to happen when a youngster is put in starting lineup every game in his first year of competitive senior football. Someone should have put foot down! Neil Warnock deserves credit for bringing Byram into the team, but massive blame for not matching him more carefully! He may well have ruined our most valuable asset in his desperate hunt for own glory!

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok - sorry for poor english, medical pro I am, foreign, even worked with sports medicine (football team) for five years - and LUFC in my blood for forty years! And just wait and see, there is no "fast solution" to Byrams problem!

Bates gone. Over 30,000 in for first game. Talk of multi million investment and repurchase of elland road. The future really is looking good for once. A new era for Leeds united. Roll on Brighton. MOT.

If Leeds bought back ER and or TA but the team finished 7-12th would fans consider the season PROGRESSIVE? (against last years finish?)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes

I think most people tend to forget (or try to forget and hope for the best case scenario and I won't lie I'm one of those people) and hope that the team was more important than the infrastructure. However, I'd be content to see us finish in that area knowing that we are in a transition and knowing that we had the infrastructure almost (or completely) in place to take us forward for a surge with a team that has better chemistry

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I would as this season GFH are creating a solid united stable club and creating the foundations for a promotion push even before its started this season is 10x better than last

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes stability is key Salah Nooruddin (chairman) said 'we don't want a flash in the pan' would rather build a team of good youth and invest in things that will only make the club better. Lookat how many clubs last year that spent £4-5 million and did nothing. I wouldn't care if we didn't get promoted for the next two or three seasons as long as we were increasing the value of the club and buying player smartly. Not like the last few season prior to this. MOT in BM we trust

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally I would. There are a lot of things changing off the pitch which are a huge improvement. And I believe we're on the verge of seeing another crop of youngsters coming through. I'd rather see us use Youth as opposed to buy promotion like other clubs have done anyway. It's the Leeds way. Obviously some fans will find something to moan about regardless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Financial stability will bring longer term success
The other way will bring only short term success and hardship
Team value not great so need to own something to encourage more investment.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes this would IMO be progress, the ground ownership is vital for stability of the club. But maybe we can buy the ground and get promotion this year, Imagine that!
see you all tomorrow.
DP

Agree0 Disagree0

Bates has GONE, that is progress in itself mate!

Agree0 Disagree0

The club have set us a target of two years to get into the prem! I want success but if we can get back our assets and build a team for the prem over the next year I think that would be better then scrapping through with what we have and not having the players to keep us up.
