Quite clearly Gary Hooper would rather be bagging wins against Barcelona for Celtic ( as he did 2 weeks ago), playing in Europe for Celtic, winning the SPL, and being top scorer in Scotland than moving to ANY championship club. Unless he is a nut job with an LUFC obsession! I would love to see him here, but he will see his next move being to a middle tier prem team. And we probably couldn't afford his wages. Sorry. Dream on.

Believable19 Unbelievable1

You have to admit though there must be no enjoyment playing in a league where you have no competition. Although saying that Rangers have been doing it for years......

Fredh MOT Leeds and the Teddy bears forever

Agree3 Disagree6

He's out of contract at end of season I think

He does want to come back to England as he was annoyed that he doesn't get called up for England, when he's probably the most lethal poacher of a net

Agree0 Disagree5

30 Nov 2012 11:41:35
he was an person to move to Scotland in the first place he could of got a move to the prem league if he had waited a little longer and moving to leeds would be a big step forward for him right now

Agree1 Disagree3

He didn't actually play plus if we were to get promoted surely he would rather play against Chelsea, City, Man Utd, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle, etc every other week than play once or twice against Barcelona every other year.

Agree1 Disagree0

Fredh, as a Leeds fan living in Glasgow through work I can honestly say that after witnessing Rangers fans behaviour in general they are one of the worst sets of supporters I have ever had the displeasure of coming across. I would put them in the same bracket as West Spam or millwall, absolutely vile. As for Hooper he will go to a Prem League team. Liverpool and Newcastle are watching him so we have no chance sadly.

Agree1 Disagree0

With Inverness CT at the top of the SPL, the SPL has lost any credibility it had....it's about L2 level at best

Agree2 Disagree1

H.... I read that as Gary Cooper.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 23:14:08
sorry folks might upset some fans about the attendance this is how i think it is although im from ireland and haven't had the chance to experience ER this IMHO i think fans are staying away for a number of reasons main one is we not challenging for promotion at the moment and havent been for years and i think this is a valid reason for not going to ER in L1 we knew we would be going for promotion so it was an interest to fans to attend games at the moment but now it isn't plain and simple and plus we have been fooled for years with broken promises!
hopefully in the new year if we are where us fans hope and deserve to be and where we think we should be then fans including myself will make the trip cos its gonna be worth while! its simple for me to understand that our club is far from its full potential this why cant other fans understand that + come on santa is coming soon so need some cash god knows we all do!
our luck on the pitch is changing we just have to just hope our last two games were not a flash in the pan that we can push on into the play offs then and we will see fans coming back!!
again IMHO your entitled to yours!
irish leeds fan!

Believable5 Unbelievable3

If you are a true supporter of our great club you don't stop going just because we aren't doing to good, i've followed Leeds for 46 years and would continue to do so even if we were in the BSP ,MOT

Agree8 Disagree4

Not challenging for promotion? 6 points off play offs and beat 1st and 3rd in 3 days.. Also thats still no excuse if you want an easy ride as a fan i highly recommend that Leeds is not the club for you cause they never do it the easy way.
If people cant afford it or have work commitments i have no problems with that its just the bates out brigade still hiding and clearly was just using Bates as a scape goat to not come, also those that say they can afford it but wont pay the prices just because they are premiership prices, well there are atleast 4-5 teams in our league with higher prices.

Agree1 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 22:33:05
To the poster tellin us our tickets aren't dear... We paid the same to watch our lads play v orient and Yeovil as we did to watch premier league and European football. And before we have a go I am a skint fan not a stay away.

Believable9 Unbelievable0

I agree with this statement.... but i also dont believe that was ten years ago and that inflation does not exist

Agree2 Disagree0

The thing is if the bills go up at ER you cant expect ticket prices to go down really . the price is maybe expensive but so is life at the moment . it could of been made easier by bringing in new players of quality so the games were good to watch but bates wasn't spending any money

Agree3 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 21:33:54
And conversely which current footballer; would you like NOT to be at Leeds!

For me it has to be; David "I'm only here for the money" Beckham

Believable10 Unbelievable2

I think is experience and quality would be good for some of our players to learn from . maybe teach some how to take a free kick .hes not coming to us anyway ,hes moving to london so probably qpr or west ham will take him on

Agree1 Disagree4

Hes said its manchester utd or no1 in england

Agree0 Disagree2

29 Nov 2012 21:30:41
If money was no expense which footballer would you like to see back at Leeds and why?

For me it would be; "The gentle giant" John Charles, floated like a butterfly; scored like a bee.

Some of our forwards would do well to watch him

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Really wish I was old enough to have seen him play. Must have been a pleasure

Agree3 Disagree0

Wasn't he like 6'7? hardly a floater Big John.

Agree0 Disagree0

If money was no expense? I don't think money is the problem with seeing John Charles back at Leeds.

Crmd {Ed003's Note - I think the original post means players past and present,chill.}

Agree2 Disagree0

For me it would be Johnny Giles. Midfield general who had it all- vision, control, could pass, could tackle and scored goals, and was hard as nails!
But then to have any one of the Dons boys would be fantastic!!

Agree6 Disagree0

King Billy. End of ...

fatfreddyscat

Agree3 Disagree0

Vinny Jones - he loved are club and was a really hard working and tackling midfielder, who should have been with us longer than he was.

Agree1 Disagree0

Im glad someone mentioned Billy!

Agree3 Disagree0

Totally agree with giles, exacly the sort of player we need right now.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Nov 2012 18:11:21
kevin hird always liked his hairstyle. where is he now

Agree0 Disagree0

Paul Rachubka ... What, it was always "interesting" when he was on the pitch :P

Agree0 Disagree0

Am Irish and starting following Leeds as a kid because of Giles and he was a hell of a footballer and a dirty little B****** when he had to be as well. But you cant have Giles without Billy. The two of them just went together. So If I had a choice of one player to bring back it would have to be Eddie Gray. My hero since I first started following. MOT, stick together, there are better days ahead.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 18:34:29
We are together if we go to no games a season or fifty, let's stop moaning about this, let's stop being devisive and march on together.for me bates has gone so I've enjoyed the last to homes games but I'm lucky to be able to afford it. Some are not or they won't return until bates has completely gone, try to understand their point of view. Not

Believable11 Unbelievable3

The ones that wont go until bates has gone altogether are full of **** I guarentee loads will come back for Chelsea and imagine if we got to the final (i know very unlikely) but if we did would they be thinking no i am not off to watch Leeds at wembley in a final because Bates has his name on a piece of paper saying he is associated with the club but has no power within the club whatsoever...

Agree2 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 18:13:50
I think we should launch a bid for Beckham. We could get him for 25 a week. Shirt sales attendance increase and bring on our youth players not to mention can pass a ball and take free kicks. Him and Austin when he regains his fitness would be a mouthwatering prospect. Wonder if Neil is interested? {Ed013's Note - No Chance}

Believable9 Unbelievable21

Don't be so sure of urself Ed013. This isn't prime time Beckham. He wants one last project as a footballer not for the money. He will want to return to England. Can't see him going to any other country because he's been done that. He will want to poke Fergie in the eye too so what better place than Leeds? Seen stranger things happen. Not as if we don't have the money or need for a top passer? {Ed003's Note - Ed 0013 isn't about at the moment but I thought he was going to Monaco?? Becks that is not 0013 ;)}

Agree12 Disagree2

Monaco have merely expressed interest. Doesn't mean he is going there. What does he want to go to France for? He's not hard up for cash so don't see him going to Japan or China. Think he wants to end his career in England. Can you imagine the passes he'd make and the free-kick goals? Just don't let him take pens!! Beside we got our other Beccs for that. He could have the Strachan effect on us. I say bring him to ER!!! {Ed003's Note - ok mate}

Agree7 Disagree3

David "I wouldn't play for another English club after Man U" Beckham? yeh, he'll join their rivals...

Agree4 Disagree2

We can only dream !!bout becks ! Hear posh loves pie n mushy peas maybe we can get her modelling jobs at h and m in Leeds a few hours on a Saturday while David's playing lol we can dream

Agree3 Disagree1

Dream? Are you serious? I for one would consider it a nightmare if the club even considered making a move for that attention-seeking has-been. We don't need his type at Leeds.

NO thank you.

Agree6 Disagree1

Strong source seen posh n becks at murgatroyd's with fish butty's n chips n mushy peas waiting for an arrow taxi to ER. get real he'll go PSG or monaco, simply for the money. Leeds are a championship club, are you off your head 25k a week, u think beckham would sign that!

Agree1 Disagree1

I've never rated Beckham!All hype!...But his manager is a leeds supporter(Simon Fuller)...Can't see it happening though!KEA

Agree4 Disagree1

Bonkers conspiracy theory: Beckham is going to be Monaco so as to be near evil genius Ken 'Blofeld' Bates so as to get his instructions ...

fatfreddyslunatic

Agree2 Disagree0

Beckham come to Leeds ? You guys serious come on if you could live it up in sun or big posh cities for shed loads or come to Leeds it's a no brainer think we all need to calm down a bit

Agree0 Disagree0

Like to see NW rest Tongey and Dioufy for Udders. Both have looked jaded on Tuesday. Like to see Ross start for EHD and maybe start Brown for Tonge. What with Pearce coming back we should have a decent bench too.

Believable4 Unbelievable7

Brown, are you having a laugh, he's a red card just waiting to happen, we've got better than him.

Agree8 Disagree4

Who exactly? Since we already playing Green and Norris, r u talking about White? Or Pugh? Brown has been doing better and I think Neil will want to stifle their midfield and keep it tight. Candidate for a nil nil my opinion.

Agree5 Disagree1

Tonge is world class. Gerrard of the championship.

Agree6 Disagree4

Brown is actually class at this level yet some Leeds fans as i have said numerous times see them have one bad game for us early on and make up there mind he has played more good games this season than Austin but because everyone saw him on Youtube before he came no one slates him. The worst thing is all the people slating brown wont even be turning up to watch it.

Agree1 Disagree3

29 Nov 2012 16:00:14
Just because dem scousers could be in for Gradel doesn't mean we can't land him again. NW likes wingers pace and directness. I think we will keep Tate but unsure over Thomas so would like to see us launch a bid for Max. By January we can compete with Liverpool. We about to be a big club again.

Believable5 Unbelievable1

Seriously if you were Max and had offers from Liverpool and Leeds, you would choose Leeds? Why? Premiership football would give you greater income and higher quality football, remember Max is a professional footballer not a Leeds fan.

Agree4 Disagree2

Plus liverpool have got like suso, assasidi, sterling, downing, enrique, the list goess on so im hopeing he will see that instead of the bigger wage. LIAM MOT!

Agree2 Disagree1

If i was max id choose leeds !! prem footy next year or liverpool and champ footy next year !!! lol mot

Agree3 Disagree3

Max would choose Leeds, his heart is here. Maxi's agent? now that's a different kettle of fish.

Agree8 Disagree2

If his heart is there then why did he leave us? personally i think he's happy in the french league and we can get better. go for experienced prem quility under 30 they will take us up, not our old league 1 winger.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2012 19:21:54
have you followed him on twitter? the stuff he has put shows he wants back he even put 'if Leeds fans really want me back you need to show the chairman that' and a few months ago 'its a year since i left the club i love the most miss you all MOT' and after Becchios goal against Palace 'mot get in becchiooo' Is it really that hard to admit there is a slight chance he might choose us.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 15:45:01
I know im going to get slated but here goes, leeds have been bought by gfh ( a company who invest other peoples money ). What are the odds the mystery investor is ken bates ? Hes done it before with all his offshore accounts, y not do it again ? A ploy to get leeds fans back and stay chairman, all he had to do was sign 2 loans and we all thought we'd hit the jackpot with new owners

Believable5 Unbelievable15

Utter rubbish, you reckon bates is paying himself and the lawyers costs to regain control of a club he allready owns.

Agree12 Disagree0

Yeah and he disguises himself as an executive of the football league and doers the fit and proper means test too
Amongst other stuf eh??

Agree1 Disagree0

Some Leeds fans are just so deluded about bates honestly he isn't at the centre of every business deal ever done and im pretty sure he doesnt have some master plan to bring Leeds united crashing down

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2012 18:19:59
master plan is already done, who owns er and ta. there must be only 17500 who think hes the messiah. i personally think hes a very naughty boy

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 15:21:25
Bates haters staying away. We had better attendences last season and we still had bates. Plus now he's not getting any money after 21st why are people saying there not coming.
I can remember going to west ham match and I think there was 24-26 thousand there. This season I was there against palace ( this after takeover was announced to be complete)
And we only got 19000-20000.
What a load a bull this is about bates. How come u didn't stay away last year? And you did where have all the other 4-6 thousand gone?

Believable6 Unbelievable2

Everyone has their own reasons for staying away, some lack of cash others cos bates being in control til 21st dec,but what ever reason it is theirs to make, so without knowing the full thoughts of others, other fans shouldn't judge.be interesting to see how the attendances are after the takeover is done,[cos of the bates factor]we will see then, mot

Agree4 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 13:28:52
Not a rumour, but would love to see Warnock try and sign Boyd and C.Austin. Those would be great signings IMO.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Austin? are u high?

Agree5 Disagree0

Confusing for the team sheet - 2 Austins!
Beckham off to Monaco .....

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 13:17:13
Hey can I just say, I completely understand the fact of calling someone a stay-away fan if they choose now not to go due to Ken Bates still being at the club (albeit in a no say position).
But they guys that can't afford it every week give them a break! - I live in Birmingham, and the last time I went to ER was against Forest earlier on this season, again before that I went last season against Birmingham City in which we lost 4-1 as we all didn't need reminding about, that day itself cost me an absolute fortune, (£200 or so in all, maybe more) as it was a spur of the moment decision, I got up one morning, had no work, decided to go Leeds game, so got the train for £66 quid, ticket 30 quid, other bits and bobs cost itself plus I paid for someone else too. Does that make me a none true fan? Because I have not missed a Leeds game over the radio in over 10 years, I also haven't missed a game when we are televised. People that CAN afford it and live in Leeds, go the game, Don't use KB there as an excuse because that is poor now that he is no longer the 'OWNER' which is the key word.. Chairman for the end of the season with no say so? President there after, with no say so?

Grow up fans.

AntW MOT forever!

Believable12 Unbelievable3

Please Please everyone who has taken offence to the complaints about attendence. No one is moaning about fans not going because they cannot afford to go, the comments are aimed at the so called fans who made a song and dance about boycotting ER while Ken Bates was incharge, why hav ethey not returned to ER now?

Agree3 Disagree2

I went to the Charlton game but now i'm waitting for Gfh to show me they mean buisness in January. We all know how easy it is to thriow out empty promises, just ask Bates, he wrote the book.
I do think i might go to the head hunter game. Only because its a fair price.
BARMY ARMY!!
mot4life

Agree1 Disagree1

Fair price? the prices arent that bad anyway football is an expensive business Watford charge more than us as do Bolton Blackburn Wolves the list goes on..

Agree0 Disagree1

BUT!! They've not been paying the same prices in League 1 and watching there talent go down the road for peanuts, FACT!!
mot4life

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 13:03:42
Is it not true we've been paying premiership prices for what has been for the last decade utter dross.......this coupled with economy and bates sell off of key players while not replacing them, I can see why fans haven't been turning up. Hopefully things will improve on all fronts from now on.
Season ticket holder with 160mile round trip,

Believable7 Unbelievable0

No we arent paying premier league prices there are atleast 5-6 teams in the championship charge more than us.

Agree0 Disagree11

Leeds as a club are on the up,been taken over, starting to get quality players in,with more to come in January, and all we hear is I aint going to watch Leeds while Bates is there, how pathetic, its LEEDS UNITED I support, regardless of whos running it,looks like Bates is here for a good while yet,it sounds like GFH are Leeds supporters first and foremost and want to help take us where we belong, back to the prem, imo Bates being there as president can only help them achieve this,so you Bates haters, either support the boys or stay the f-ck away, true fans who can afford it will always be there,no excuse, just love of Leeds, either grow up or shut up.

Agree1 Disagree3

BOY!! you got sucked in quick. The rest of us are thinking show me the money first, talk is cheap.
RMOT

Agree3 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 13:00:12
I'm seeing a lot of talk today about people not turning up to games and to be honest i agree with the fact that money is tight and some people aint got as much as others and theres the fact people got kids and christmas is around the corner. The one thing that does my head in is the pathetic individuals that say they are not turning up because of Ken Bates? Just remember people theres not eleven Ken Bates on the pitch on a saturday it's actually Leeds players who need the fans support and if you can't do that then stay away for good.

JoeMOT

Believable6 Unbelievable1

Too many Leeds fans now hate Bates more than they love Leeds, it is starting to wind me up now.

Agree6 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 12:29:13
After the TO, loans, 2 positive performances and 6 points I'm really looking forward to the Hudders game on saturday. Always a daunting fixture (half my family are shamefully terriers).

They seem to have suffered the same lack in form that we gained recently so should make for a good afternoon.

I'm sure the lads will make us proud regardless of the outcome but I do hope our fans behave themselves.

With this new era I hope we can all behave ourselves and look on with dignity. The Shef Wed off field antics were shameful but the Hudders fans will be more up for it than Shef so please guys enjoy the game and dont rise to any crap or give them an excuse.

J (Rothwell White)

Believable12 Unbelievable0

Absolutely right mate - and because of those antics at Hillsborough the game's not on Friday night (and Sky tv) any more. Can't go now because I'm working on Saturday. Fed up!!

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 12:27:20
Forget about gradel, shaktar and liverpool interested in him .doubt it was ever gonna happen anyway

Believable4 Unbelievable1

Yes but he loves Leeds so if he was to move back to England he would definately seriously consider us. All his tweets since he left such as 'if Leeds fans want me back then make it clear to the chairman' this was 2 months ago when bates still owned us. As well as 'A year today since i left the club i love most MOT' and on Saturday 'Mot well done Becchioooo' so after all that if he turned us down for liverpool i would be very disappointed.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 09:29:45
I get the fact that money is tight, but I don't agree it's why fans are staying away.... I remember the late 80's, money was tight then as well, where we struggled some days to get 15k for home games, we get promoted, and wallop full ground... Every fair weather fan in Yorkshire turns up.... We play well, and be in the top 4 at the end of Jan check out the attendances then..... Bet it's nearer 30k than 20k... IMO. .... MOT

Believable7 Unbelievable6

I doubt it, because peoples petty little dispute with a man who will no longer be our chairman will still exist, personally one individual shouldnt stop us supporting the team we love, fair enough the prices are extortionate and everybody knows that, but at least its not going to 'bates pocket' anymore

Agree5 Disagree2

Living in cuckoo land some folk.

Agree4 Disagree1

" but at least its not going to 'bates pocket' anymore"

YOU ARE WRONG, it is STILL going into Bates pocket UNTILL he is no longer chairman......

... that's why I (for one) am still staying away.......

Agree1 Disagree8

How is it "Bates' pocket"? From 21st Dec he is an employee not the owner. He can do what he wants as Chairmen but only within the limits set by the owners. If they disagree Bates would be gone.

He has to tow the line and do what hes told. That's what being an employee is.

Any further disagreement or disliking you have with how the club is run would be down to the owners. Its their responsibility to ensure the right person is running the business. Previously this has been one in the same (uncle Ken) but not any longer.

If you can afford to go you have no excuse.

Agree4 Disagree1

Utter nonesense - if GFH own 100% of the clun how on earther is Bates going to profit?

Agree4 Disagree0

Will you stay away when we move into the playoff spots? of if we have a home game at the end of the season, and we are in an automatic spot?
Even though i loath Ken Bates, he will still be chairman until next season. I recon he will still be getting something out of it, but i dont care!
Our club is financially stable and we are heading in he right direction.
I will still watch, and hopefully soon, so will all the Bates haters!

Agree4 Disagree0

I swear some Leeds fans think that Chairman for the rest of the season still means he is in charge. GFH could make me chairmen tomorrow if they wanted it doesnt mean i can steal from the club when i own nothing of it at all..

Agree4 Disagree0

How can people say its in bates pocket how delusional can you be, I no business expert but i'm not stupid enough to beleive the rubbish that bates haters have made up. Where does the money come from to play the players, the staff, the manager! Yep you guessed it your ticket prices! Bates has had his big pay day the £30-40m from GFH that has gone in his back pocket, that is the whole point of Bates running the club/bussiness to be makeing a profit so someone will come along and buy it out. Now how stupid does that make you look when you are saying you dont want to give your £30 (which would mean you could get behind the team and help them get the 3 points) to Bates who is far more intrested than the £30m he has just pocketed. Get a grip and realise you doing the club more harm, how can we be considered a big club who deserves to be in the prem if we dont have the fans!

Agree0 Disagree0

We all know he's only chairman till end of the season so he can get all the clubs revenue, the when he's 'president' while he's sitting on his back side in monaco, he will just have a set bonus every year from us till he croak's (which will hopefully be soon), after this season we will never see bates at ER again :) stop using bates as an excuse if your a bit skint and you have kids to feed and a wife to keep happy fair do's i understand, but stop using that bearded crook as an excuse. I really don't understand with us leeds fans we have been moaning for months about this takeover, now its happened we got 2 good players in 24 hrs and beat 2 really strong teams this week and somehow we manage to moan about summat else, stop whinging and enjoy been a leeds fan i ain't felt this good sine 3/1/10 when we beat the s**m. Be happy leeds fans we have every right to be. MOT!

Agree0 Disagree1

29 Nov 2012 07:44:52
don't give me this excuse about bates being why fans stay away . in my opinion its cause until recently we've been rubbish . now we appear to have turned the corner people have got used to spending match money on other things . when we get near the top maybe then they'll consider it again stop making bates an excuse!

Believable12 Unbelievable1

Bates is NOT an excuse, he is THE REASON!

Agree1 Disagree9

Bates is defo the reason fans are staying away its nothing to do with ticket prices we paid the same in league one and look at the crowds we was pulling in. so thats a no go as far has im concerned fans just want a fresh start with bates not involved been fed to many lies over the last 8 years leedsmad

Agree4 Disagree3

It may be the reason but its a stupid reason and as of 21st Dec it holds no validity at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Nov 2012 04:41:11
Lot of talk about attendance and stuff, imo price of tickets dont matter, if we were top two we would be getting 25k and if we were prem we would be full, just how it goes. Its up to the players to step up as well as us fans, but if we keep playing well the attendance will creep up. mot, Vinny.

Believable10 Unbelievable3

Sorry mate completely disagree.

In some cases the difference of spending £50+ on match day ticket, travel, food ect... can be the difference of putting food on the table for he week.

Agree14 Disagree0

Abit fed up with people complaining about others not going to games, if ur lucky enough to live near on in Leeds and be a season ticket holder then well done to you! I live in Sussex and with a young family, I get up to around 3 games a year, costs me over £100 a go, can hardly afford to go 3 times a season but do my upmost to save and get up when I can so don't have a pop, if you go good for you but get off your high horse about people like me.

Agree3 Disagree0

In my case it's around £100 to get to and into a game at Elland Road. Add to that a recent £7 per HOUR drop in pay and it doesn't take too much to work out the rest?

I'd still try and go if I could but not while my 'precious' money goes into Bates pocket instead of into the team.....

Agree1 Disagree0

I completely agree the people that find money tight don't wont spend it watching us loose, if there was a good chance to watch us win then they would put there hands in there pockets and turn up.

Agree0 Disagree1

I agree, do feel we should support our team no matter what but u can't pay prem prices to watch a championship team!

Agree0 Disagree0
