Trouble is lads we don't know who's put the bid in - dare i say he/they may be worst the Pappa smurf.

Ifor one am not going to get too excited just yet.

Sir Phillip.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

Seems unlikely - other than Beelzebub himself who could be worse than Bates?

Can I just say good luck to Joel he is a young lad at 22 but we signed Pearce very quickly and am sure Warnock has someone else in mind or would have made sure we signed ward before he went on holiday, let's remember it must have been hard for jw to leave Pompey as he played for his boyhood heroes( a dream only some can do) and has had to watch the decline from within, at least we have a club who seem to be stable and what will be will be, we all live Leeds and love Leeds and lets see what happens when season starts, at least we have a club many Pompey fans who to be honest are very good fans with good banter may not, we are Leeds utd for ever and ever!! Sorry about long post just wander how ridsdale s fish are

We are leeds

Am I the only Leeds fan that cant help feel gutted that we didnt sign Joel ward? I dont know if all the rumours are true that we couldn't afford the fee or if it's just that Neil has a list of people he really wants an one of backup players that he will only give so much for?? I dont even know if ward is any good! Sometimes I find myself being one of those fans that give us a bad name, moaning about everything from ken (even tho he saved us) to the usual! But I think we should all stand together and just do what Leeds do best, support the team we love! The players that won't sign new deals can go, we dont want you!! The players that do come in we will support u!! An let's just see what happens!!!! White forevermore

Believable6 Unbelievable5

It maybe that Joel Ward wanted to stay down South!!

Agree1 Disagree0

Im gutted because not only was he a good player going for a bargain, but the fact that we couldnt sum up the money to buy him? A mere 450000 in the football world? What are we, league 1? The answer should be no im hoping

Agree1 Disagree0

Perhaps we didnt stump up the £400k because he didnt want to join, stop the negativity its only may ffs !

So now what with the Ward saga over. What's next on our very ambitious route to promotion(or lack of it). So who's the next target now we can't even muster £400,000 which is peanuts in football teams these days. Sick of the lack of ambition and can see us going down the freebie route once more. More trash no doub't or even loanees. I for one was happy last season was over, not looking forward to next year over(and i'm not a doom and gloom merchant either).

Believable4 Unbelievable1

As far as i know ward went for an undiscloed fee, where did the 400k come from ?

Agree0 Disagree1

It was mentioned in the media quote a fee of around 400k.

Agree2 Disagree2

It might just be that Leeds didn't want to pay the fee up front as Portsmouth want/need like we did with Pearce. I am sure if the payment was over the length of his contract we'd do a deal.

I was at the players christmas party the season we got promoted with my older brother. (The party after the southampton game where beckford threw a strop and walked down the tunnel). Ken Bates was at the party and me and my brother got talking to him and his wife (who is really nice to talk to by the way).

My brother jokingly said to Ken, "Whats your exist strategy Mr Bates?" (for those of you unfamiliar with that expression it basically means in business terms when would you consider leaving) and his response was "When im dead"

Ive never posted on here before and on my life this conversation happened. Given the rumours regarding bates health and a takeover i posted this conversation as I wonder whether the two are linked (Bates' health and a takeover)

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I am sure you mean 'Exit' strategy! Think that an 'exist' stategy goes against KB's "when I'm dead" quote?

Agree0 Disagree0

Could we really get lucky with KB kicking the bucket and we really get taken over ?.... Just dont tell me its some Thai Politician or some Russian Mafiosa. I'd like some normality for a change

Eddie Gray's Comments Yorkshire Post:

Eddie Gray believes sought-after Leeds United midfielder Robert Snodgrass has the talent to thrive in the Premier League.

The Scotland international has this morning been linked with a move to the Norwich City, with the Premier League club believed to be ready to table a £1.5m offer for a player whose contract expires at the end of next season.

Leeds legend Gray wrote in his column in the Yorkshire Evening Post: “Robert Snodgrass has proved, over the past few seasons at Leeds United, that he’s a top class player.

“He wants to play at the highest level, I think that’s what he’s saying with his comments this week.

“And if the opportunity comes around, it looks like he might take it and I don’t think anyone can blame him for that.

“I’ve always said I’d be disappointed in any player who did not want to play at the highest level they possibly can. That’s the important thing in football as a professional footballer; you do the very best you can with the ability you’ve got.

“You’ve got to still say that if Robert leaves our football club, it will be a big blow.

“As everybody knows, he’s been the main man for us over the past few seasons. Basically since he came to the club from Scotland, his form has been very good.

“If Robert goes, I don’t think anyone can say he’s let down the football club because he’s stayed loyal for the past few years and the longer it goes without him playing at the highest level, the less chance he’s going to have.”

Gray added: “It’s not over until it’s over and we’ve got to hope there’s still a good chance Robert will sign a new contract with us, but we’ll just have to wait and see.

“Looking at Robert, he’s probably seen a lot of players leave to play in the Premiership and he’ll probably think he’s as good, if not better, than them.

“He’s entitled to think: ‘I want a go at that.’

“In terms of whether he can handle the Premiership, he’s as ready as he’ll ever be, in my opinion.”

Thanks Eddie, pack his bags for him why don't you

If Connor Wickam is worth £8m (Ipswich to Sunderland), Snodgrass is worth at least as much.

He's off then

60 million for what we dont own the ground traning facilities most of the players we had are on loan!!
are thery just buying 25,000 loyal fans for this as the players arent worth 60 million

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Bates onws the ground watch!

Agree3 Disagree1

Bates owns the ground and Thorp Arch through his offshore companies. Do you think he would be spending all this cash if he didn't.

Agree6 Disagree1

The ground & Thorpe Arch are owned by Jacob Adler, a scumchester based property developer FACT. check Land Registry

Agree1 Disagree2

Jacob Adler only owns the Training ground. Teak Trading own the Stadium(some company in the British Virgin Islands)

Mmm...wonder who owns that company!

Norwich have made a 1.4m bit for snodgrass hahah it will take more than that. Why dont they just call them selfs leeds united aswell

Believable1 Unbelievable3

Depressing fact is that we've become a feeder club for Norwich. If that doesn't wake up the pro Bates lobby on here then nothing will.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 May 2012 10:19:11
Norwich are to start-off with a bid of 1.4 million pounds for snodgrass. Seriously, this is the lowest of the low, 1. Because we are starting to become the feeding source for norwich, 2. Because 1.4 million is a a really disgraceful starting bid for such a top player. Do they seriously think of us so low? The 3. Would be if we actually accept a bid from norwich at all regarless of the amount because our club seriously has no standards if they do.

a lot of crap speculation at the moment about snodgrass, ward and others of the sort. Whos to say we havn't agreed deals with 2 or 3 players but can sign them til July 1st when their contracts at their respective clubs have expired?

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Because once you have six months remaining you can sign a pre contract and reveal where your going kelvin wilson forest to celtic in recent memory

Agree3 Disagree3

Does that have anything to do with what i said?

We need some honesty at Leeds United FC, something is happening within the club. I feel that the silence from the Chairman is nearly as loud as his programme notes. Come on ken be honest with the fans who week in and out pay good money more through loyalty than the product they see play.
If the club continue with the latest farcical preseason the best supporters in the land might just vote with their feet and any chance of improving will have gone before a ball is kicked in 2012/13
