Even if habidabidoo comes we will still be short of an out and out striker as Hall, Varney (well played yesterday) Green, Diouf and McCormack are all players who who would chip in with the odd goal but like to play out wide or off a main striker? unless Somma can come good ( I have my doubts about him, hope I am wrong)

Believable7 Unbelievable6

McCormack wants the top role again too.

Agree14 Disagree0

I still think Somma will come good - having spoken to him a couple of seasons ago, I know that he's very driven to succeed. If he goes somewhere else, Sods Law says he does the biz and comes back to haunt us. Should be given the chance.

GFH, give the fans an indication of your intentions the silence is deafening!!

Believable14 Unbelievable3

I have inside info.... GFH are skint!! They bought the club with the intention of selling again quickly but dealing with Bates changed that. he made them change it into a long-term investment. The money man behind GFH has walked away no too, so we are literally up *&%*s creek!
Apparently we owe £12 mil by april and if that is not paid, bates regains control of the club!!
Who said this was over, and whoever said its easy being a Leeds fans!!

If Warnock isn't around next season who would you like to have in charge? Adkins is out of work. Lambert probably will be too. I know DiMatteo is out of work too. But after coming from Chelsea he would want a nice wage package and big spending budget. Think he'd be looking for a Premier league job too. We could always do what Southampton have done and bring in a South American or Spaniard too. Thoughts?

Brighton are NOT looking to sell CMS, I really don't think he is on NW radar, based upon NW history, he requires a centre forward who is tall rather than fast, NW already was looking for 1 striker now its two.

Expect a tall striker for FREE and a pacer forward for around £1M.

Would expect the like of Hooper, Austin, CMS arriving this time round.

NW re-mit is play offs, that's where he wants to be, can't see it as just too many points to make up now, the long draw out takeover has killed this season.

Believable1 Unbelievable10

28 Jan 2013 20:51:57
I heard a 3 million bid had been accepted already for cms just waiting for money from becchio sale.

Agree0 Disagree5

Whats killed the season is poor team selections and and poor tactics Hoofball all the way. Hooper is valued at 5mill+
Are you a Leeds supporter or just popped on the site for a laugh because you know nowt about football.

Agree10 Disagree0

NW admitted he tried to sign CMS at start of season, so wouldn't be surprised if we had made a bid

Agree2 Disagree0

Not going to get hooper because Celtic want at least 8mil which leeds will not pay out especially in the championship

Agree7 Disagree0

Hoofball bad team selections and drawn out takeover has ruined our season. no chance with hooper and wouldn't want cms Karl mot

Its slow on here today-is it overcelebration or prewindow nerves?

Believable3 Unbelievable4

28 Jan 2013 13:44:59
I think it's common sense for GFH to only invest a little in this window (no matter how frustrating that is for us fans). Why give millions to a manager who ultimately will not be here come July? A new manager will want his own players, so GFH would be paying twice. I honestly feel NW has been told he will only be given enough to reach a possible Play-off place, and if by some stroke of magic we go up this season then great, but realistically it will be a summer re-vamp and a push for top flight football for 2014-2015. On top of this, I do think a new manager will have already been lined up for an immediate replacement, so that the transition from Warnock to new will be swift and simple.
It's honestly just a theory, and one I believe to be plausable... But lets not give up on this season and get behind Neil and the Lads and push on. RyanMOT

Maybe GFH are waiting till the new season, so they can bring in money by sponsoring the shirt. It would also give GFH more exposure to the world, which was what they said they wanted to do with Leeds.

This is just my humble opinion and I'm usually wrong! I think that we will not spend much in January. I think GFH have looked at it and think even if we spend £4-5m this window we will not have a squad good enough to go up. I think they will wait until June, new manager and give him £10 -£15m to build a really good squad from scratch. Possibly new man Adkins who apparently met GFH in Dubai last week. If he doesn't go to Huddersfield watch this space. JD

I am fully confident that we will sign 1 maybe 2 players before thursday. However all the talk seems to be about if we sell Bechhio. I know that we will need another striker if we sell him but am I too naive to think that when stories say we will sign players if we sell Bechhio its because of the money and not the need for a replacement.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

If we sign only one and becchio goes then that's not good enough to get to play offs in my opinion.
if we replace becchio then add at least another 2 then maybe half a chance.id like to see boyd come still..shrew leeds

I keep saying this and will keep going on about it, but yet again when we stop the long ball we actually look a decent side, I tell you now we would have lost that game yesterday with Becchio playing, we would have continued to pump it up, he would lose it and the possession we had yesterday would have been halved. This lad Varney gets lots of stick ( I don't know why) but every time he gets to play in the front role without Becchio playing he is a handful for anyone. McCormack just look at his pace yesterday, Diouf was superb holding up the ball which every time was played to his feet, these players are ball players and are a real threat. The midfield yesterday again were superb and did you notice that when we got the ball from being under pressure they were looking to pass it, guess what most of them would have pump that ball to Becchio without thinking. It is true and a fact. Sorry but forget about Becchio he is holding this team back and I have been saying this for a long time, you can not continue with the long ball in this league, games like Barnsley, Notts Forest, Derby away where we were abysmal, if we had played the system yesterday they would not have lived with us. NW is not bothered really about losing Becchio he knows the strikers we have will also score 20 plus a season, this old fashioned striker system is not good and not one team in the premier or current top six in the Championship play like this, surely this tell a story of why we get passed to death. Well done to all the team and staff yesterday, please NW keep this style for rest of season and we will be in the playoff's. Sorry Becchio yes you have been a good servant but your time is up. Kevin Leeds 50 years.

Believable33 Unbelievable9

Absolutely 100% agree with Kevin Leeds 50 years. It is normal for people no matter what type of player to want to hoof it up to the big man. Our players areno different. Yet when we put ball players on the park the ball gets played into them. We looked a real threat all day yesterday. Did you see Ross McCormacks interview? He said hi is an out and out striker he just needs to prove it. He didn't get a chance at Rangers as Advocaat bought in very expensive foreigners, so Ross was pumped oot the door! I think all this talk of more strikers coming to the club is to get the most out of Ross and Varney with Somma as back up. They were all brilliant yesterday even off the ball. All you positively negative persons Give it a rest until end of season Hey?

Jedburgh White

Agree10 Disagree3

Great post mate, totally agree that with Ross and Dioufy we can't just play hoofball and actually pass the ball! I think if we added another midfielder, ideally both a playmaker and a winger, we wouldn't be too far away.

Agree6 Disagree2

Becchio has been great for us, we didn't play hoofball under grayson and becchio still scored goals, it's warnocks tactic not becchio's, also we have seen a lot of players showing little or no loyality over recent years and have been sloughtered by our fans, so in becchio's case I think we owe him some loyality and stop blaming him for warnocks poor tactics, I hope he stays because I bet if he went and we got in someone worse then a lot of fans would be on here crying for becchio to come back just like beckford, gradel snodgrass etc, becchio stay warnock out!!

Agree6 Disagree6

Both our goals yesterday were just hopeful hits up the field. The difference from normal was that Ross was willing to chase after it which Becchio doesn't really offer us.

Agree4 Disagree4

Have never been a massive fan of becchio but while he wares a leeds shirt i will support him as i did in the past with other leeds players who were greatly over rated, e.g. baird, rennie, carlton palmer, we have a tendency to think they are better than they really are and hope for success on the pitch while we look through rose tinted glasses. i am as guilty as the next leeds fan of this and am now looking at the present leeds squad and thinking a player here a player there and we should be ok.....we would need major investment if we were to go up, we have a collection of very average players but we can hope that they can up their game if promotion were to be achieved.

Got a feeling Habib Habibou will be signing soon, his tweets are very mysterious but he has said to a friend/relative to remember 14h whether that he means 2 o'clock I don't know, maybe just reading too much into it, one thing is for sure, he has the day off today, and he never played yesterday. Add the fact he basically was saying his goodbyes to Zulte Waregem fans on Saturday it is without doubt he is destined for a move, I am now hoping it is infact to us. MOT SussexLeeds

Im still a little scepticle about the takeover. Bates seems to have found either his Arabian cousins or the poorest arabs in Arabia.

They promised us transfers and now it looks like we have to sell our star to bring in prospects.

One thing that really puzzles me is why would anyone buy a club and leave the current owner at the helm. Are we sure Bates isn't pulling a fast one again.

it will of been in the contract . maybe gfh haven't paid up in full yet and bates stays until they have but in a less involved way.
gfh will be waiting until the new financial year before they start spending anything of there own .
the money from becchio should be enough to bring in a new striker and maybe 1 more player permanent and maybe a top level loan winger with pace

If this policy of looking for proven players at this level, whatever their age, on the cheap, like Dindane, proves successful and we go up with it, it will be very shrewd, because when we go up we'll then have the money to invest to stay up. Its a gamble, but either way its a gamble, we either invest now, go up, but don't have money to invest to stay up or worse we don't go up and then we're goosed, or we know now we've a team that ain't going to go down so why not try to get up with minimum investment and if we can pull it off then we haqve the best chance of staying up. I'd rather the latter myself.

we should be aiming to spend 3 mil per season on new players .
bring 2 players in and remove more dead wood.
leeds united as a club would still make a profit in this league as the fans would be back at ER again.

Not a rumour but just wanted to say that was a much better performance today. The players have set a standard they need to repeat every game. Did anyone else notice that Luke Varney didn't celebrate his goal or look to the fans? If I were him, I'd be upset at the stick he's been given. Just show him and the rest of the team a bit of support and I'm sure confidence will icrease. A big ER crowd for rest of season fully behind the team might just see us achieve promotion. MOT Ron

Good site uv got here ed, I check it up every day.
It's safe to say McCormack on his day is a much more talented and better footballer than becchio and with the right support he will out score becchio in a full season. Becchio can leave as he hasn't even been that great over the years. He's always been in the shadows of other strikers we had ie beckford, gradel. Hope we bring in mackail-smith as his work rate is second to none! MOT {Ed013's Note - Thanks buddy}

Just because we've had a good game without Becchio all saying who needs him, not that good, etc..etc. That lad has been with us through thick and thin, I would say he has given us his best years. Yes celebrate the win today but please all don't use it as an excuse to have a crack at Becchio. We should wish him well, great servant of LUFC.

Great win yesterday.
Great performance.
I agree, Becchio s been a good servant to the club and he gets in the right place at the right time.
Goals are what they re paid for. However as an actual footballer he s not that great. Not a lot of pace, not great touch, not great vision. Doesn t link up play well. He s not even that great in the air. He does know where the onion bag is.
However, we ve apparently offered him close to 20k a week for 3.5 years. That's more than 3.5 million!!
Add that to the 2 or 3 million he s probably earnt over the last 4.5 years.
He says he wants to move for financial reasons. For the financial security of his family? Sorry, but how many millions do you need?
I d have more respect if he said money wasn't important and he just wanted to play in a top league.
Loyal servant? Yeh, he s been good, but let's not forget that we ve paid him hansomly for this, he s not been doing it for free.
So good luck Luciano, if you go, fair enough.
Onwards and upwards. We need a few league wins now.
