Alex Baptiste now agreed to join Leicester for 1m, very affordable. Chris Wood as well, both would have been good for us. I hope Warnock has some gems in mind.

If we get offered 6 million for becchio i think it will be too good to refuse.the question is will becchio sign a new contract in the summer or will he decide to run his contract down and leave for nothing in 2014 .

Believable6 Unbelievable5

Becchio would sign a contract he has shown his loyalty before and will again

Agree6 Disagree1

29 Dec 2012 07:31:41
its ok saying he showed his loyalty and signed before but you got to remember its everyone's ambition to play at the top level . hes 29 now so he will be 31 in 2014 so if an offer comes in during either January or the summer transfer window he will ask to leave if we don't look like or get promoted this season simple as that .

Dom Matteo's piece in the yep questions why for the first time in his managerial career can Warnock suddenly not organise a defence to save his life (not word for word but that's the gist of the piece). Could it be because his first lieutenent went off to Notts County? Could it be that Keith Curle had the nouse while Warnock took the credit, not unlike Wise and Poyet. This has concerned me since Warnock took
over and he has failed so far to prove me wrong unfortunately!

Believable10 Unbelievable1

Sounds like another former leeds manager too.

Agree2 Disagree1

We're still conceding goals because our defence, especially in the middle, still isn't good enough. It's simple as that.

At the moment we have Tate, who is too slow, and Lees, who is too prone to stupid errors. From what I have seen this season Peltier is as good a centre-half as we have.

Agree2 Disagree0

29 Dec 2012 07:40:57
i just don't think he sees that something in players these days and is just picking players that have done it before .
first thing he did at end of last season was say mccormack would be a bit part player so doesn't even see anything in him and with looks of things still doesn't.

All these rumours of Becchio leaving are pure nonsense. He loves it at Leeds and wants to play in the Premiership with us. When strikers score as many goals as he does people start saying other clubs will be watching, then before you know it the stupid rumours appear.

He's going nowhere.

Believable12 Unbelievable4

Well let's see if Wigans £4Mbid isn't tempting to our new owners.

Agree5 Disagree2

He better not i just got him on the back of my jersey!

Agree3 Disagree3

Well for a start I can't see Wigan offering as much as £4 million for a player who's never kicked a ball in the Premiership.

Becchio's not going anywhere. The new owners wouldn't even dare sell him. Think about it - what message would that send out about them as early as this? Warnock's also said we're not selling anyone he wants to keep.

The other thing is Becchio loves Leeds. These sort of rumours have appeared before. Some people believe everything they read.

I don't think we should be getting carried away with the thought of GFH spending loads of cash. As they have already stated that they are not going to be spending. Especially as the financial statement shows a significant downturn. So forget anyone like Mackail - Smith, Lambert etc. Its not going to happen.

Believable6 Unbelievable8

28 Dec 2012 21:19:35
At no point have they said they won't be spending. They said they won't be spending crazy money, there is a difference.

Agree5 Disagree1

They said not spending crazy money and i do not think 3, 4 million is crazy for a team looking to go up. I think 8 million maximum will be spent as they have stated they want to get in the prem for their own financial benefeit as much as the fans benefeit. They were basically talking about teams like blackburn who have paid over 10 million for two three players

Agree2 Disagree1

Bad post. They said they wouldn't spend crazy money. Difference to not spending at all. The downturn is because of no investment. The upturn will be due to investment. They will spend at least 4 mill in the window.

Agree1 Disagree1

If GFH are serious about Leeds utd and getting the fans back on side then they need to invest in january.
the fans need some incentive to come back to ER as the mediocre football we are watching at the moment isnt enough..
Lets be honest we have been very lucky with alot of results this season.
i personally need to see investment for me to renew my season ticket

Just a question really. Has anyone had a reply from the We Are Leeds GFH email? They state they had over 4, 000 emails with suggestions following the takeover and that they would reply. I haven't had a response yet, anyone else? In light of the financials which demonstrate a 10.6% reduction in attendances I would suggest a dialogue with the fans is essential. My fear is, Haigh and Patel appear open and communicative but Bates still puts his poisonous views in the match day program, bit of a problem when your trying to attract fans, and the Chairman spends his time slagging them off. {Ed013's Note - I spoke with Mr Haigh and he said they were working their way through them, I don't know if anyone has had a reply}

28 Dec 2012 16:24:59
Hopefully leeds have the money to take a few brummie lads with their finacial difficulty looming, their chairman sayin they rejected £6 mil for butland but might bot be able to rule the same offer out, well come on leeds look to future englands future no.1 £6 mil. Curtis davies solid center back. Mil or 2 ? Every1 kicked us on the way down lets kick sum1 back and mug players of them.

Believable10 Unbelievable0

Liverpool, Everton, Arsenal and Man Utd want Butland. {Ed003's Note - and Southampton}

28 Dec 2012 17:28:16
we are not gonna spend 6 mil on a keeper in this league . most we will spend on any 1 player is 2 mil and that is pushing it . i would say more like 1.2 mil unless we find ourselves selling becchio for a big fee but even then can only see us spending 2- 3 mil on a new striker if he was to go . there is some really good quality players that haven't broken through yet its just a matter of us finding them . will hughes of derby c was unknown beginning of season now worth a fortune and every team wants him . sam byram is the same and lucky for us hes already our player .

browns a good player to throw on for the last 20-30 mins to sure things up by sitting in behind the midfield but warnock keeps playing him full games.

Agree6 Disagree4

Brown is past it. At 35 he's to slow. He's the past of the Bates era signings. Look to the future.

Agree11 Disagree1

He should be no more than a benchwarmer, brought on to shore up defence in a tight game.

Agree1 Disagree0

And he has a good old laugh when your 4..1 down , wouldn't play him again after that !

Agree3 Disagree0

He should not even be on the bench. His legs have gone and he loses 70/30 in his favour. I dont even think he could do a job in league 2. Unfortunately he should just retire

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2012 15:12:30
Just a quick one, we all know we're after a winger and may not be able to keep Thomas (though of late he hasn't impressed as much) so what about Tshabalala who scored THAT goal in the 2010 world cup, reportedly available, would add pace, and cost minimal (less than £1m) views? BW

Believable2 Unbelievable4

I'd have just because his name is immense I'm sure Somma could persuade him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the league table to see where our priorities lay, the bottom 3 teams have conceded fewer goals away from home than us, for a side with play off ambitions this is unacceptable, the best sides can go away from home and defend a lead, its very rare we do, not much if any improvement from the Grayson sides, needs sorting or weve no chance.

I would like to see Danny Graham and CMS to sign even if it means losing McCormack and Becchio, think they will work brilliantly together!

Believable3 Unbelievable5

I agree but if we want to seriously go up we need to sign them without letting 2 of our best players go.graham would prob only be a loan ..2 good players though.shrew leeds

Agree2 Disagree2

Would rather keep Becchio and McCormack thanks. Nobody remember how rubbish Graham was when we had him on loan before? Also not at all convinced CMS is any better than what we have.

I think, and hope, Warnock has some surprises up his sleeve of a superior standard.

Agree3 Disagree0

Much as we love becchio is he really going to get & keep us in prem leagur

Agree1 Disagree2

Can Becchio get & keep us in Premiership? He's as much chance as anyone else we've been linked with up to now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Becchio made an easy step up to the championship, so I imagine that the championship wouldn't be a problem as you get far more time on the ball there than in league 1 or championship.

Plus every season he has been at Leeds he has scored double figures

28 Dec 2012 12:42:16
Leeds are in need of a defender, from what I have seen Tate is to slow and gets caught out all to often. So I was thinking about Craig Dawson, not getting a look in at WBA, the right age and quite quick.

Believable11 Unbelievable2

I'm still not completely sold on Lees either. I couldn't believe the challenge he made to give Forest their penalty, especially as they'd just had a couple of shouts turned down.

Nw has stated that he is not going to sell any1 unless he has to. Surely he is not going to sell mcormack . He is building are team up not selling all are best players to the canaries hah . I have heard he is after lambert to rotate with bechio and regardless if thomas stays is after gradel to use other wing. That would mean are team sheet would/should look like. Bechio lambert. Thomas austin green gradel. Peltier tate pearce byram. What you lot think m.o.t .

28 Dec 2012 11:16:19
McCORMACK & BECHIO are both surrounded with rumours linking them away soon. Does this mean that we have two big attacking options lined up ? CMS I personally could see as one potential with swop with McCORMACK. BENT could be a loan option til end of season. HOOPER has been stalling on current contract extension at Celtic and was interested previously at Leeds but no money was available. Interesting that BETFAIR has BECHIO heading to Celtic so possible swop deal. HOOPER is a penalty box striker very much like Bechio. Creative Midfielder McCARTHY at Wigan sound attacking mid prospect or TEMPLETON. MAYNARD at West Ham is not getting games so £2.5m could see him on his way. Good pacey striker for Championship. MICHAEL DAWSON 29 CB at Spurs left out without a game due to move. Good experience to settle defence. Dont really think we have the funds for ARSHAVIN, INCE, STURRIDGE, ANELKA or any other Premiership name. Lets be real... be have dosh but £6-8m for a single player aint gonna happen.

Believable4 Unbelievable4

Nicky Maynard plays for Cardiff but is out with a knee injury.

Interesting that Leeds United announce a down turn in profits etc etc just when the transfer window is about to open! I can't say I'm that excited about Hall but then again we haven't seen much of him. Let's see if the new owners are going to put their money where their mouth is and buy players that will get us into the premiership or will it be more of the same with Ross or Becchio sold off and some crap excuses as cheap replacements – I hope not as I have had faith in the takeover but now's when we'll find out the truth and by the way if they read this you need some defenders too.

Its looking like mccormack is the striker on his way out .why else would he be getting rested obviously someone as put a decent offer in for him .

Believable4 Unbelievable1

He was out injured and came back when we were on a winning streak, thats the only reason he's not started , as ross said himself, and then stated he is looking forward to the new year and regaining his place in the starting line up, so give up on the transfer conspiracies, there ain't any

I remember when Somma was getting back his fitness and i was saying, just wait till Somma comes back. We will look a different team but alot of people on here where saying Somma's no good, been out to long with injury. I always knew he would come back same player, as long as the injury didn't play up again because Somma was never about pace, he was about movement and touch. This lad could be the difference between going up and staying down.
I really do think Thomas is holding back all the time and is to light weight. You can see from a mile away that he's not giving 100%, not even 80%. We really need this lad to sign or find someone else because thats bthe only way we will see the best of him.

I am a season ticket holder and i feel we need a leader, someone with a presence in midfield. Warnock has been a breath of fresh air for us but I am starting to feel that he isn't organising us as well as he could, no-one can deny we were all over the place against forest on Wednesday and that is not down to austin's fitness it is basic organisation. Also if he is trying to push mcormack out he is going the right way about it. We need a strong centre mid, a left back and a right back so Sam can play in midfield and hurt the opposition even more. I am sticking with warnock but January is key for him and there can't be any more excuses after that. Mot

Drury had a fairly steady game against Forest. Be interesting to see if NW retains him over Pelts when he's fit again. Will strengthen our bench but I think time to give Lees a rest and play Pelts in the middle. We've conceded less when he's played there. Play him alongside Tate.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

Sick of hearing that Peltier is playing bad because he is playing out of position. Well sorry ! Good players should be able to adapt to the position they are picked and from what I have seen of Peltier he is not good enough.

Agree9 Disagree6

28 Dec 2012 11:02:15
Are you saying a good gk should be able to play as a striker or maybe a striker should be able to play as good as a defender in defence? If so your wrong. Even just switching from 1 side to the other can be difficult as its harder to shadow the ball from the opponent unless your able to use both feet as good as each other .i think peltier as been poor this season but apparently he has been carrying an injury most of season but if that's the case why have we been playing him

Agree3 Disagree0

No mate sorry your wrong . Fact is u r what u r . And pelts is no left back and never will be so blame Wornock for putting him there. It's just the same as if u had a leak on your sink at home you would call a plumber not a joiner ! .

Agree3 Disagree0

Well said mate your bang on the money

Agree0 Disagree0

Peltier started (if I recall correctly) as a defensive midfielder at Liverpool so, he's been played out-of-position his entire professional career and been found wanting wherever he's been played.

I dont know about you guys, but once somma and mccormack were (eventually) brought on in the forest match we really created chances. I think that if we play all 3 of our strikers, somma and becchio up front with mccormack playing behind in central support, we would be scoring like no tomorrow. If warnock plays a formation like that it would justify the need for another striker. We then just need to get a good LB in january and a
pacy winger and i think we can push for promotion! Excited for the future lads!
MOT

Believable13 Unbelievable2

28 Dec 2012 09:26:55
yes we did get more chances when the came on but forest just about stopped playing as they knew the game was as good as won for them.
the way warnock sees things is theres 3 strikers for 1 position which are mccormack, diouf and somma and then theres only becchio for the other striker position so the other striker that comes in will play in that role when becchio rests. theres more chance of either mccormack or somma been sold on than becchio but i hope none have to leave as they all have different quality's to offer .

Agree5 Disagree0

I agree mentioned it a few times all 3 need to start and we'll at least get a few more shots at goal we don't shoot enough. forget all this lump it up to becchio nonsense. play all 3 and lets have a real go ! Karl mot

don't know how warnock has achieved all his promotions he doesn't appear to know how to manage a team plays long ball against everyone but premiership oppostion which clearly doesn't work he constantly makes tactical errors with player positions and selection with the likes of peltier at lb and bringing in austin unfit, also the squad we have is lacking in many areas kenny has no presence in the box giving defenders twice the work too do and making them look poor and take the blame which will affect confidence we have no able lb where probably white should be used just for his pace which the team drastically needs. brown doesn't know how to play football gives away more stupid free kicks than successful passes. austin is average but wastes too many opportunites with his shoot on sight approach we are strong attacking but lack the service from midfield and with diouf out of position and mccormack who could get in any team in the league left out to much is expected of becchio and as good as he is doing still isn't good enough for some fans. with the likes of green becchio diouf mccormack byram somma lees pearce ashdown with a new lb tonge and another cm and a fast winger like gradel if warnock was to get over his ego we could make a strong charge for play offs and been in the premiership next year

Believable9 Unbelievable5

28 Dec 2012 00:28:37
Listen lads, at this moment in time we are 12 months on and no better off, we still have players who did not get in their own championship team before they come to us or their team have been relegated from the championship before then they came to us. We need to get out of this league and into the prem, we have to be realistic and say, buy some poorer premiership players and and good quality championship players. When we get in the prem we then need to look again at buying to to stay in the top flight then to buy again a season on to start pushing for Europe. This league is the hardest to get out of and the money needs to be spent now. I dont believe Warnock has it in him in one season even with a few quid. Our young lads are going to get disillusioned and their heads turned with the offer of good money and premiership football elsewhere, it is all or nothing NOW. Please new owners buy now to prepare for the better times.

Believable8 Unbelievable6

We are better off than 12 months ago, we now have owners who hopefully will add funds to the transfer kitty. We have to give Warnock a chance. Apart from Cardiff at the moment the league is looking wide open. If we can improve and get a point tomorrow and 3 on New Years Day additional funds would push us on. However, as you state Warnock has to have the hunger to succeed and possibly take us on another year. If he hasn't then I fear there may not be much activity in this window and we will be lining somebody else for the long haul in the summer.

Agree5 Disagree1

Its that time of year and i expect cardiff to do a norm and capitulate, so its wide open for everyone, i fully expect the mighty whites to push hard for top 2 MOT
