Can't sign him next week. Football League loan rules prohibit international signings in the emergency loan window and the actual transfer window doesn't open until January.

Well barnsley signed that striker on loan from a dutch team about 2 week ago.
Agree0

Well, they didn't because they couldn't because football league rules don't allow it, as I already stated.
If you're thinking of Marcus Pederson who signed from Vitesse Arnhem, he signed in the middle of August when the transfer window was still open.

We are in desperate need for goals, yet we have a player who scored 18 championship goals in 11/12, and 21 in 08/09, playing as a striker yet we play him in midfield(McCormack). Surely at least until we get a proper striker we should stick him up there with someone like Varney/Smith and put teams under more pressure in attack?

The transfer kitty is 3.4mil, with 20k for wages (Definately Fantasy) .
Have put an offer in for Obertan 650k as he is listed (reallity - no that good, in Fifa really fast!)
The formation is naff, I can't play with it, have to bring in wingers. trying to go through the middle just isn't working. Have white just need 1 more.

Billy Sharp goes and signs for a club whose manager, when at Southampton, bought him whilst in the Championship and then farmed him out when they got to the PL. Well done Billy can't see history repeating it's self at Reading. Money really does talk in football, wish we had some

Wednesday have just signed Matty Fryatt on loan, hmm Leeds are cutting it fine if they want a new striker in their squad for tomorrows game. We always seem to lag behind when it comes to transfers.

Hull striker Matty Fryatt joins Sheffield Wednesday on a one-month loan.
Leeds had been interested in the player, with boss Brian McDermott present at Hull's midweek cup win over Huddersfield, but the Owls have secured a deal for the 27-year-old who is eligible for Saturday's clash with Doncaster Rovers.
Options are running out. I'm guessing no players until January.
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Why do you think any players are going to be signed in January? Nothing will have changed with regards to squad movement and we will still have no money. The same excuse of "you can can't value in the January transfer window" will be trotted out. We won't see any new players until the summer and by that stage we could be playing league 1 football.

Leeds turn down $2m for mcc
Reading rumoured to have bought sharp for $800k
Lets see if ross can score 2.5 times more goals.
Leeds buy smith and hunt instead of those 10-20 other strikers they could have got on loan that will out score both those two put together.
Mcd insists he only tends to use loans that lead to perm. Not sure that is the modern way
We have 1.5 days to get a striker or winger in before millwall ( should win that one anyhow. But by a few goals would be nicer). I know mcd and gfh are doing there best but a few decisions are a bit baffling. I mean if there is dosh there why wait so long and miss the cream?
Believable0
Unbelievable0
Should win that one anyhow?
I am not too sure on that. Our record down there is not very good and they are on a bit of a roll at the moment and we are the opposite
Agree0
Disagree0
Are you really relating price paid to goals scored?
Bale cost 85mil, Soldado 26 so in your theory, Bale will score 3 times more.
Actually, he probably will.but you can't use value today what they shold or shouldn't do compared to another player.
But I do agree, a lot of strikers have moved and going to do damage, and we are just watching them go by. I respect BMD but we just need someone who will score some goals.
Agree0
Disagree0
See this is why I don't always agree with your statements Aus, whilst I respect your opinion, you can't justify price of player to goals they score;
Factors behind this are:
Ross plays as an Attacking Mid now, Billy Sharp as a poaching goalscorer.
The service given to the players would be different at Reading than what he'd receive at Leeds.
The gameplay and tactics are different.
You can't say a player is better because they sit up top and score more goals. is Billy Sharp better than Vincent Kompany? because he scores more goals?
Or Erik Lamela should score equal amount of goals as Soldado this season as they cost the same.
If Ross played up front, he has proven he can score just as many goals in a season than Billy Sharp.
So in my opinion, your point is moot.

How can reading buy him when it's only loans at the mo?!

end of the day stating the obvious here but matt smith is awfull I could have scored that header yesterday also hunt and varney are the other attacking options I mean I don't like to be negative but league one teams out there have better options

What you after remember is matt smith hasn't been a footballer for that long he's actually been to uni and earnt a living so fair play to the lad i'm confident he will do a goob job for us
Agree0

Its not that I expect anything from matt smith I expect more from leeds and brian why did they sign a striker from Oldham with a joke of goal ratio? that's the problem! as we all know
Agree0

Because that's what mcdermott does nearly all his signings at reading were from the lower leagues get use to it
