I'd take him so long as he realizes he ain't getting the wages. He can take 3k a week if he is lucky.

He is Lucky George (by name) but he's not fit and hasn't played competitive football for eons. A fit Becchio yes please but not what we need at the moment.

It's a shame because he would sweat blood for us, but I can't imagine he'd be fit enough.

Must have missed that Aussie. Unless you have a different definition of sweating blood down under :)
And Becchio did pop the odd goal in I seem to recall.

Does anyone else think this idea has got legs?
Seeing as though our leader MC has probably got contacts in Italy, how about doing a tie up with a big Serie A team to for them o sign young and hungry players and we'll take them on loan to blood them, give them experience. This would benefit both teams. It worked for Watford now where are they? and just read that Man City have bought a player and loaned him to Bolton.
r is it just the booze thinking?

A lot of Premier teams buy players and immediately loan them out to further their development.

Leicester spent a lot of money but didn't go up in that year. They were mid - table. The following year they invested again and went up. Don't think we can live in fear of coming back down. Overwise we'll be having this conversation in 5 years time. Our problem is we still owe lots of money out and mc's penny pinching regarding managers means we're paying for his dart board approach at getting a head coach. Wages for 3 ex - coaches and an existing one and paying low wages means we missed out on players like Forres ti and Moore. Can anyone point to a successful big profile club like ourselves who have been promoted paying low wages. Yes we cannot throw money around a large riddle, but this approach will lead knower and can't believe people are defending Cellino and his economics of the madhouse.

I can only presume you are referring to me although I haven't said don't spend any money. The difference between doing a 'Risdale' and a 'DelBoy Cellino' are at opposite ends of the financial spectrum.

I think we should invest in the team (obviously) but not go for broke in one transfer window. Players need time to gel and I'd sooner build a team over this season that can be tweaked in the close season and go up as champions the following season.

I agree with MM, the right time to buy is in the summer 905 of the time but if you need 7-8 -9 players to make you a good team then that is really hard to do because 1) the cost, 2) it ain't easy getting that many in, 3) getting almost a whole new team to gel quickly is almost impossible.

So if you have a team that has done OK (around 8th-12th in league) and you have a core of say 4-5 really good players 3-4 good enough types then you should be in a good position to do business for 3-4 key players who will make the difference for your side from a mid table team to a promotion chasing one and keep the cost of hiring real as well as you off-load in summer as well.

Easy in theory I know but I feel someone should be able to get this squad playing better/more positive than we have been, let's hope it is big Steve and achieve movement up the table cause then we can hopefully spend well on just a few rather than having to try and buy a whole new team.

In the window we just need a number 1 keeper and and forward who will challenge for a start now, bring Erwin back as well so spend on those 2 positions and try and get real quality in and see where it takes us.

Not saying we should spend ridiculous amounts of money. But we have to pay the market value for the quality players we need. Everyday people come on this site and say we need a striker. We were in for Forres ti but wouldn't pay the wages. People say we need a cb we were in for Moore. If players can get more money elsewhere that's where they will go.
