Here's the potential compromise Bates has always said we should stick to a workable budget however the capping only took place because of the number of players. Under Larry we had 30 players on an average of 10k per week as some will be on max 15k and some on5k that would equate to 15.6m per year if our squad was reduced to 22 the same budget would increase to an average of 13,636 pw which means more scope to get better players we have one of the largest squads in the division and how many out of the 30 played regular football. We have some average players that we don't need plus it's not fair to them when they could be getting first team football elsewhere.
Couldn't agree more. It's what happens when you get sucked into the freebie and loan market. I'd rather have 8 less players and splash that money to keep Johnson & Howson. NW will sort it next season.
Original poster. Bradley Johnson perfect example although the draw of the premiership albeit reduced appearances in comparison to Leeds was a he'll of a draw. I think Max would have stayed and we could have attracted more in the transfer window if there had have been that movement on budget. I'm sure Neil knows exactly what he's doing and has already worked out the sums.
