I realize its only 3 league wins against mediocre opponents but all those who said Monk has to go because he hasn't got a clue what is their stance now.
Some of the comments made, after only a few games, absolutely amazed me. Same goes for Chris Wood.
Im wondering have these hard to please folk changed their minds or are just waiting for a couple of defeats so they can once again pour unnecessary pessimism on our great club?
Had a few now but get annoyed when these fans think they know it all and tell this forum what is right for Leeds United.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but to say sack the manager after 4 or 5 games is an absolute disgrace.
Anyway time for another.

Like I said before in relation to other coaches, it's often about knowing what's good for you and playing the right formation. No coincidence yet again you play the right formation and put round pegs in round holes you get better results. 4231 is the new way forward. I prefer the solidity and I told you we were much better defensively. All you could do was remind me of Notts Forest game. My message is simple play right way stay as long as you like. Don't play right way you can leave. I think our owner feels same. Least now we have a first team and squad to be proud of. We are probably just one player shy of top 6 and with a boost in January I think we will be in the mix around Easter. MOT.

Alright Georgy. Coming from the man who said numerous times 442 is the way. Two strikers is the way you stated in many occasions I believe.
Do me a favour pal and stop saying after the fact.
We actually played 4231 1st couple games.
You still believe Monk is clueless as you said recently?
Or I suppose you believe he reads your comments and reverted back to your new favorite formation?
Complicated formations are no good for Championship you said if I remember correctly. Stick to 442 you said if I remember correctly.
Maybe its not all about formation, but more about players having faith in a coach who given time can make them better players in what any formation he sees fit. Ok that's enough information for you to take in for one night i'd say.

got to say I also said 4-4-2 with roofe in the centre that still stands by the way behind wood but we are looking good but 4-2-3-1 or not jansson is the difference + bartley big and know how to head a ball just hope cellino int going to say out at 19 games like ant on his first season.

Keep Rosler but if not time for John Sheridan, eh?

I wanted 442 when Loser was coach because 433 was abysmal for us.

You are rapidly becoming a feature in my perfect day Corkster. Shame what I got in mind can only happen once unless of course you become friends with Doctor Emmett Brown or perhaps master the art of reincarnation.

Cork .
I never called for Monk to go, I said he would not have been my first choice, and at one stage we could bot defend for toffee and Wood was not playing at all well at that time, I along with a few others were getting restless .
It does seem with the arrival of Pilot we have some one who deals with crosses can you imagine when Beradi returns!
I do like 4-4-2 as a set up, not against every team, with a solid defence O'Kane or Brid two decent wingers and two on form strikers we could do well .
Not against any other system as long as it works for who we are playing against .

It is of course highly unreasonable for a fan to amend and update his opinion. It's not as if our owner has ever chopped and changed, hired and fired, reinstated and fired again causing constant change in the club, its personnel and strategies. Hang on.

Develop grey matter if at all possible.

You're right Dog. Different formations for particular games.
Pontus has made an incredible difference to the team mainly by attacking the ball.
Must mention OKane as well as he is getting better every game.

For me just play the players in their positions they are comfortable in, have a plan A and plan B (at least) , make defense as strong as you can.

Whether it is 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, 4-1-4-1, 4-1-3-2 etc which of course systems change when defending/ attacking.

Get the players fit, have pace but the number 1 thing is play players in their NATURAL positions so they know exactly what they are surposed to be doing without having to think for that split second which makes all difference.

PS I can never remember what I have said in past posts never mind you lot ha ha.

Exactly DG. Right now I'm happy with Monk and that's because I think he's doing a good job whereas before he wasn't. I believe the signing of Okane has been huge. A jigsaw piece which improves everyone else. If we can keep going with what we have until Xmas we put ourselves in a great position for the January window. I don't see the necessity in criticizing posters when it's happy sailing. Maybe I could have given Monk more time but like you said all fans want is for a team selection, strategy and subs to make sense. Now they do.

Well O'Kane has played at this level in a winning side and as you say George getting better also Pabio seems to be improving with game time .
Think we need to sign Pilot and Barkley, look for a decent goalkeeper would have signed Button and an experienced creative midfielder .
jury's still out regarding Ant I was hoping for at least one goal by now .

Saw him during both his spells at Leeds. The YEP always had a picture of him as their centre piece on the sports page with a deliberately large head. I was probably too young to fully appreciate him. The biggest criticism was that Leeds only had one game plan. Get it to big John. Trouble for the critics was if the team managed to get the ball to him anywhere near the goal he scored. No need for a plan B other than sometimes the other players couldn't get him the ball. Much later I liked Viduka, the Jones/ Clarke partnership (they had good players all around them) . There have been lots of V good forwards at Leeds - one reason why the present ones have often too much to live up to. I also liked Becchio and wasn't keen on Beckford (lazy devil- needed more chances than Wood to score) until his last and best game against Bristol Rovers.

I wonder how Cook / Bryan would feel if we went up and West Ham / Bournemouth went down?

I know it won't happen, but watched those teams play on Sat and it seems they both can't get games at the moment.

SB had a mare last time he did for WH. saw it and he may not play again for a while after that and there is a guy called cook who plays for Bournemouth but not lewis cook, very confusing, as was looking forward to see him playing. he has only played 130 mins in all games this season by all accounts.

Agree with some earlier posts.
We seem to always bottle it when in a position to challenge for the top six, so tomorrow s game would really give out a message that we are a team to fear.
A few more wins and teams will adjust their play to counter ours which will give us an advantage. Especially on the mental side.
Dare we dream of a promotion challenge.
Momentum is key.

Tuesday is going to be tough down at Bristol and will be a good test for our defence who have been titus fook in the last few games. Hopefully, we'll weather the early attacking storm, grow in to the game and cruise to victory. Much more confidence in us at the moment and hope we keep this winning run and the positivity going. I'm going for two one the mighty Whites, with Woody finally netting after 15 one on ones and The Wizard Pablo Escobar slotting another worldy to wrap up the points. They'll bag a consolation in the last few minutes to set up a tense finale but the Leeds machine will march on.

On On On, down those pints and up them there whites!

very pleased with the result on Sat but even more so with the performance. We need to be more clinical though as 1-0 is always a risk and we should really have thumped Ipswich 4-0 with Sakho missing an absolute sitter.

Hope there are a few out there enjoying a large slice of humble pie as well with Green keeping a clean sheet and Woody scoring again - I have said for a long time if he gets the service he will score and he was a real handful on Sat. Its all about the midfield and winning the battles there and getting a decent supply line to the front and I think we can do really well.

Does Bridcutt even get into the team if he is fit again tomorrow? i'd stick with Philips for now personally he did really well on Sat.

Don't get all humble pie crap mate
Wood has scored a few penalties etc and is not by anybody other than you who saw his prolificness coming, anywhere near a good striker. Granted. If he scores 3-4 more next month he could be conceived as in form! But not great or even good!
Green is luck his defense has improved. He hasn't. Not saying he is rubbish. Just very unsure of himself for such a seasoned pro!
As for Ipswich. Hoping Bristol prove as easy. As we are working our way up!

Bit harsh on Woody Aus. He might not be everyone's cup of tea but 7 in 11 games says to me that he is a good striker and I'm sure every opposing team we play this season will be very aware of his abilities.

Yes, he has scored a few penalties but he doesn't miss any does he? Also, look at his goal on Saturday. Won the long ball up to him, made it stick, played it out wide and got himself into the box and then free of his marker to place a good downward header for his goal. To me, that was text book centre forward play and I'm sure Monk would have been delighted with his goal and all round contribution.

He is undoubtedly getting better and looks like he's playing with a confidence we haven't seen yet. Good to see that all of the negativety hasn't adversly affected him.

Ausman

To be fair to Tupper, Wood had his best game for us on Saturday, his all round game was great, put himself about, won headers, scored, could have scored 2 more and got himself into good positions. He was a real focal point for the team, great to watch.

If he can play like that more often than not then he will be a good CF, it doesn't matter how you score as well as long as you do when you are a CF. Up to him to repeat that standard now he has done it once.

As for Green I think the guy is no better than Turnball but every keeper needs a good defense, he did distribute the ball well Saturday so agree he is average really.

That was the best we have played at home since well for ages, we looked a team with a plan and it was way better than any other performances this season in the way we controlled the game in just about every way for almost 90 mins, never gave away a real chance.

1 great game does not make us brill as 1 defeat doesn't make us sh** just good to see us winning 4 in a row.

We have a good record against BC so I think this team could well do another away win there.

Ipswich are a tough side with a good defence so 1-0 I'll take all day it also gives me bragging rites .
Wood had his best game by far scoring from open play, and are defence finally beginning to do good job Bark and pilot .

One thing about Rob Green that seems to be overlooked is his organisational skills, his mouth is going 10 to the dozen all the time, Leeds corner and he's shouting at them, oppo corner and he knows where to put people, that's one of the reasons the defence is looking and playing better.
As for Chris Wood, he's a proper centre-forward and the team is playing to his strengths.
And Sacko, think we should have a whipround and buy him some shooting boots :)

I think tomorrow's game will go a long way towards showing us if we are the real deal.
If we can stop the championships top scorer, (Abraham) , and win, and keep a clean sheet, then even I, (always glass half empty) might just start believing that, for the first time in years, we have a team capable of challenging at the top.

Danum great post mate, I was thinking exactly the same thing last night, they are flying so like you say if we can tame them, and take 6 points of city and barnsley on Saturday, then I believe we will serious challengers for promotion via playoffs another striker in January and we are in business.

Would be ok with even a draw tomorrow . All those Tues night away games we have lost over the last few years.

A real sign for me that we are the real deal would be a Tues night away, against a top half team, we were 1 down with 15 mins to go and down to 10 ten men, to come back and get a draw. that's what promotion teams do . Then I would really start to believe.
