Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Can only agree with other posters that we are so far short with the squad we have at the moment of doing well this season, I know expectations are low with MC stating we should be challenging more next season than this, and I know he has done a lot off the pitch already to put us on a more stable footing which was very much needed, and I do think given time he will sort out a lot of other big problems left by previous owners so this is not a moan about him more of a moan about one aspect of his overall work which is how we are conducting our transfers so the squad can be strengthened to improve on last season.

My main concern is how we seem to be only shopping at Series B level and have signed so far a mixture of reasonable journeymen and possibly to come some young exciting players who are on the fringes of Serial A. So far in pre season we have seen little of the new signings apart from Silvestrie who seems to be playing well, so we still don't know what quality the rest of the lads have. I really hope they add real value to the team, but the jury is still out until we see them in a competitive Championship game.

We seemed to have to have missed a lot of good players already, a number of good Premier league squad players have gone on loan to other championship clubs. It may have been that we were not interested in those that have moved, but I feel some of those would have strengthened us.

Vivana may be coming still or he may have decided that Leeds is not for him but I do feel not having a ' Name' as a boss does not help in attracting players and I am also unsure about his contacts in the game, and whether they are good enough to pick up a top premier league youngster. The only British players we seem to be linked with are players who are not going to improve our squad to where we need to be, Delfounso is an example of this again if the rumour is true.

We still need six players, firstly from our defensive displays so far we need two centre backs, there has been no creativity so we still need a playmaker and two wingers and of course a proven striker, the first game is not far away and the squad is really not much stronger than last yet we are supposed to have a 15 million transfer fund.

A whole week went past last week with no signings and no apparent imminent signings being made, I appreciate that we are not going to waste money anymore but you still need to pay reasonable transfer fees and wages to get players good enough to improve us on the pitch which really is the main thing for any club, doing well there sparks off everything us that a club needs to progress, I am just not sure we are shopping at the right level.

Great post which sums up how many of us feel

Its not rocket science unless we quickly bring in quality we are in for a relegation battle! Was at Chesterfield today very poor. MOT

Guess we know who our new penalty taker is this season. We badly need a new striker though. Morison is a has been.

can only see lge 1 on the horizon, hope the next 4to 5 signings are any good, the best starting 11 for millwall today a joke

There is no doubt where we will be with the current squad. Keep hearing from Salerno that quality players want too much money, if they think that will change I fear they may be disappointed. If we had 15m for players why is Delfouneso the standard we are aiming at. All our targets from Italy are unknown to us so we can't gauge their quality and hope they are the hidden Pirlo. If our other targets were known in the UK we would have a good idea of the level we are aiming for

"There's a lot of work to do" - David Hockaday.

By that I hope he means in the transfer market, players simply aren't good enough and the system is just awful. Centre half, two quality wingers and a striker. 433 with Smith in the middle.
Also another holding midfielder would be nice. We need quality not quantity.

I remember asking sarcastically if the rate Cellino got through managers - sorry coaches - at Cagliari ever caused him to wonder if he wasn't very good at picking them.

I've a horrible feeling we are about to find the answer to my question. Wasted time. Again.

Looks like Leeds either can't attract decent players or can't afford them. Serious lack of goals from the forwards too, let's see what MC does next!

This could probably be one of leeds utd's worst seasons

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I remember early 80, s and think this will be worse if that's possible

2-2

Only positives

* Silvestri looks good, Bianchi has a good pass and Berardi looks a good buy.

Other than that, we've a serious amount of work to do :(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Did Morison play bad, on twitter it says he received some abuse after being subbed.

Agree0 Disagree0

Silvestri played well and had no chance with the goals. Bianchi wanted the ball not sure Murphy or White did. Berardi a good buy? I didn't see anything to determine one way or the other.
Morrison worked his ass off first half first half and spent more time helping Warnock out than attacking. He got loads of stick especially second half and then went to pieces, everything he tried went horribly wrong and when he had a good headed chance he tried to control it on his chest instead. Hock took him off to put him out of his misery but the derision and chanting of " you're too shut to play for Leeds " was something I will never condone and can't benefit the club in any way.

Funny that all the decent looking player linked to Leeds fail to materialise - or should I rephrase that only the cheap ones go through - Viviani looked like a decent signing, someone who would make a difference.

I know that a lot of the deadwood has gone but there is more to go Hunt, Morrison etc, but those brought in don't look like they are going to set the world on fire and what's happening to the 5/6 players that we are bringing in and who's going to replace RMC?

Worried and concerned with KO weeks away!

{Ed013's Note - Is anyone good at designs on their computers? Would anyone like to design the Leeds kit that will be used on the teams/formations page, but it can't be the same as the actual kit due to copyright}

It has been suggested this includes wages so maybe not as good as it sounds.

I've been reading with interest the latest goings on regarding potential transfers to Leeds. Whilst it is always disappointing not to get players we have been linked with, that is the nature of the market and transfer window. I can only speak for myself but feel the team and club are in a far better place than any time over the past number of years since our plummet from grace. We have a new owner, one who apears to care; little or no debt; new players (remember last summer when we all feared that mo one would be signed up); a younger squad- many of the older journeymen players have moved on or been released; and a number of younger players coming through the ranks. Leeds are a work in progress. While things are not perfect, they are a hell of a lot healthier than previous pre-seasons. We may not win the league but with a few more signings and hopefully quality players, we could make the top 6. Stay positive, keep the faith, MOT!

Totally agree with your post, the team is thin on the ground but debt free and no hungry owners bleeding us dry.

Great to ere a positive poster well done ;)

Excelent post
There is one weak link in our set up at the moment. Hope he proves us all wrong
Mcc will succeed this year. Next year. The year after etc. i'm 100% sure he will get us there!

Spot on- I know manager's profile may not be great and I don't understand his appointment BUT the club is in a better position than it has been for years. Still believe Cellino has a 3 yr plan but we DO need some quality in MOT

Going on the premise that if your good enough your old enough, I reckon we could do a lot worse than give Robbie McDaid an opportunity, he is certainly talented enough IMO.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Never stepped foot in league 2 mate yet alone championship. Could give him a game in the league cup against the lower league sides.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id give him a go can't do any worse than poleon, hunt etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but we want promotion don't we? We need proven players with the addition of a few younger gems.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry but I've got to disagree the reason being.
Hunt, kebe, etc were proven and have won this league in the past but have been garbage for us, where as RMc was NOT proven and had great season last year and made us a lot of money.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont know where this we want promotion stuff comes from. MC has stated it is not this year we are not ready he has a 2 yr plan not 1yr

Agree0 Disagree0

Best he lowers the ticket prices then. £41 is shambolic

Of course we want promotion as soon as but hopefully most of us are realistic enough to realise it will take time. It is highly doubtful it will be this season but until its mathematically impossible I will live in hope. Mas does seem to be going for unproven players which I don't have a problem with so long as they fight for the shirt and show some pride. I would rather a young team that grows together than what we have seen in recent years. Viviani presumably didn't want to play for the money on offer, again I have no issue with low wages/high bonuses in fact I am in complete agreement because it means you get a player who wants to play for the club not the money and I think more clubs should take this stance. I think McDaid may well replace the unlucky Walters in the first team squad. You don't need to be proven, you just need to make a difference when you get the nod. In terms of the Hock, I have the same reservations as everyone else but at least we know the change won't take long if it needs to be made. Has a coach ever been sacked based on pre-season results :-) I am sure Mas will set a precedent if he feels the need. I think as others do that Carbone is merely waiting in the wings. I think the main aims for this season are to improve on last, get the ground back and start to mould a team for the future not a five minute wonder and if this is what we achieve I will be satisfied that massive progress has been made.

Agree0 Disagree0

Reply to andy mot. How can u say McCormack was unproven in the Championship? he's been playing there for last 6 or 7 years and scored plenty of goals. particulary when given a regular starting berth. OK last year he went bananas but has always beena threat. MOT.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy - Ross scored 23 goals for Cardiff in 2008/09 which made him joint second top scorer in the Championship so a bit harsh to say he wasn't a proven goal scorer

Agree0 Disagree0

Lads if was spending GOOD money & signing a player that was proven I'd want better stats than RMcs

Rangers 2003-06 goals 2
Donny 2006 goals 5
Motherwell 2006-08 goals 17
Cardiff 2008-10 goals 29
Leeds 2010-14 goals 53

I actually thought his stats were better than that but to say he played in some poor leagues it's not brilliant.
I do agree we need some quality signings but I'd rather wait and get the right ones than waste our money as we have done in the past.

Agree0 Disagree0

If by good money you mean 300k ( I believe that's what we paid for Ross ) then if we can find a couple more we should sign both!
