Life could be much worse - We could have Van Gaal as Manager ha ha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think van gaal and moyes must secretly be leeds supporters!

Agree0 Disagree0

For 20 years I have said van Gaal is the best in the world. I still believe he is, but if the best manager in the world is to have a bad month, no better time to have it than while managing THEM!

With all the players we are being linked with it looks as though we will have to make enough room on the back of the shirts for three numbers?

I really cannot understand how everyone is concerned with who we might, won't, can't, shouldn't or wouldn't sign and we have a total amateur coaching the team?

For the first time in over 40 years I just now resign myself to how many goals we concede, not whether we might actually win a game or not?

I would imagine the Bradford fans are rubbing their hands together already, and planning for the next round.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

MK Dons did it in style ;)

Am I missing something here?

Hockaday is now talking about the Champions League?

I seriously do wonder what planet this guy is on, we will be lucky to avoid relegation with him in charge, and he has 'dreams and aspirations' of the Champions league?

I seriously despair, at the moment, but I suppose anybody who is sacked from a team like Forest Green and ends up in charge of Leeds United can dream of whatever they want?

I am now starting to doubt Cellino's ability (not his ambition) to put Leeds anywhere near the top of the Championship within 3 years time let alone anything else.

I really do hope we don't get turned over by Bradford, but to be honest I am only concerned with our league position.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Champions League - Yes I think he is referring to the success that the Darts and Dominoes Team from his local Pub.

Apparantly they are top of the league with only the mixed pairs final to play!

Agree0 Disagree0

Really hope we lose? leeds don't need fans like you,

Agree0 Disagree0

Barnsley white - If you actually read what I wrote it says

"I really do hope we don't get turned over by Bradford"

How does that equate to 'Really hope we lose"?

Agree0 Disagree0

Leeds4alongtime.
I am almost agreeing with Barnsley on this one.

After MC saving your club from admin, paying ALL the hidden debt off, restructchering leeds £1mill a month losses, moving the dead wood on (WIP) Trying to buy ER road back. Selling Calgari, answering court cases, sourcing new players and all this in the space of 15 weeks or so and your questioning if MC is up to the task!

YOUR HAVING A GIRAFFE MATE

must praise mc for his ability to bring players to the club not sure if the manager or head coach as it were is the right guy to take the club forward
if he slips up or a question of when he slips up and its time to go for dh I think simon greyson would be a decent man to bring back and given another shot. thought he was unfairly dismissed after guiding us out of league one then having a good season in the championship. think we finished 7th that year.

also has an eye for talent. he made the likes of gradel howson snodgrass johnson even becchio and beckford prem players. although for me none of the above excelled at that level still a good shout and record to put on a c.v.

until then I guess we get behind the team and see what lies ahead.

god help us

MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Love grayson think he was so underrated and best we have had for a long while although I am pretty sure becchio and snodgrass were gary mac signings. Gary mac as head scout and Grayson as manager/coach with MC at helm pretty sure we would be in the champions league in two years let alone the prem (ok maybe bit far but do think we would do so much better)

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that old chestnut m8 lol. sure I've heard that before!?

Agree0 Disagree0

Grayson will never work under MC. He sees himself as a manager not just a coach. Sadly, most other credible 'managers' will feel the same.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bic
Grayson LOST the dressing room at leeds so classing him as a manager is a word i'd use cautiously!

keep telling people that pearce is no good and needs to go anyone thinks that we will be a good side with him in the team let alone captain needs there head examined. against boro he was poor no right foot even a weak right foot no balance terrible passing and poor positioning.

i like the look of cooper with a few more games he could settle in a do us a job.

byram austin murphy tonge bianchi all below par and not what the club needs.

sell while u get a good price

talking prem league is nonsense not with these players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'd keep Pearce as another body in the defence, he's ok at this level and I still think we're short in central defence right now, maybe sell in Jan if the offer comes along. I agree Byram needs to go, sad to say it, he doesn't look like he can be ar***d anymore. I also agree that Tonge and Murphy are not good enough to be regular starters, Tonge has been known to make an impact from the bench from time to time however. I will say that Bianchi is still an unknown quantity as far as I am concerned and I'm willing to give him the appropriate time to settle in. With better players around him he may thrive, even if he is part of Hockadoolally's favourite midfield four.

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought he played well against boro. I also think Pearce will make a good captain. Not many more contenders as far as I can see

MM

Agree0 Disagree0

Its amazing how us fans all don't rate certain players, but other managers, coaches and scouts (the professionals) see something there and would be happy to sign them.

We are far from prem standard and at this stage it is quite apparent that we should be more thinking about consolidation and building a squad with a work ethic than pushing for the premiership. This will not come from getting rid of players just for the sake of it or the players has had a bad game.

If that's what we want to do:

Warnock, slow and old, gets shown up a lot. Get Rid
Byram, not interested, bad discipline. Get Rid
Austin, like a train with out breaks. Get Rid.
Berrardi, not championship standard, poor discipline. Get Rid
White, been here too long and not shown anything. Get Rid
Poleon, same as White. Get Rid.
Murphy, over rated, has had his chance. Get Rid
Tonge, well past it, old and slow. Get Rid
Taylor, not really going to challenge Silvetri. Get Rid
Hunt, just cr*p. Get Rid
Morison, too much wages tied up. Get Rid
Walters, not going to get a chance. Get Rid.
Ajose, not our standard. Get Rid
Belussci, bad discipline and not sure. Get Rid.
The Hock, not any standard. Get Rid

Oh look, we now have no squad, Billy Sharp upfront being supported with a bunch of kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

Still trying to figure out what the post is actually trying to tell us?

Ideas on a postcard please ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

I think the poster is saying if we follow the negative comments and suggestions without giving the team time to gel/develop we won't have a squad because we will have undermined them completely or got rid of the lot. Who would come in then? Think that's the gist could be wrong and the guy is genuinely saying sack the lot. Who knows. We still need creative midfielders and width. Given a couple more decent signings I think the results will come- good ones that is.

Agree0 Disagree0

My post specifically or the entire conversation?

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers Hess,

Ajose, Belussci couple of games get rid? IMO reserve judgement till xmas then decide.

On the others its work-in-progress, MCs moved on some dead wood and can't get rid of them all in a few weeks otherwise all the backbone and structure has gone.

(If we had any backbone last year lol)

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 13:59:30
Am I showing a gap in my knowledge when I say I thought all red cards were automatic 3 game bans? I'm reading Sam has a 3 game ban, but Belussci only 1 game. Does the ban depend on the offence?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2014 15:18:49
or did he get 2 yellows

Agree0 Disagree0

No, straight red I think. Anyone enlighten me?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 16:09:12
Yeah, think violent conduct is 3 game ban whilst professional foul is a 1 game ban

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it not different if you get two yellows or straight red, I know it can be made longer if the offence is very bad or if leeds appeal and it is over turned. I think though not overly sure so probably wrong

Agree0 Disagree0

Well, byram and Berradi was violent conduct, which leads to a 3 match ban, and bellusci was last man so it's a 1 match ban, I hope I've helped u out here

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, thanks to all, didn't realise there was a difference

Agree0 Disagree0

Mind you, what's the world coming to when merely kung-fu kicking someone in the throat is violent conduct? Gone are the good old days when Norman could 'bite their legs' and merely get a finger wagging. Ah well!

Agree0 Disagree0

If hunter done what Berradi done he would've cut the kid in two ahhah, a proper scissor tackle

When Cellino finally loses patience with Hockaday, would anyone consider Tony Pulis worthy of the position, providing Cellino changes his view on only employing coaches instead of managers?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yeah but he wouldn't consider us so it doesn't matter :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry mate although Pulis is a good manager, his style of play is worse than Warnock's. Depends if you want boring football
I couldn't watch Pulis football for too long! MOT

Agree0 Disagree0

Its been bad for so long.
I would take any manager that would give passionate performances with winning results.

Agree0 Disagree0

Pulis left Palace because he didn't have full control over transfers. He's never coming here.

Agree0 Disagree0

I really don't understand how Hockaday got the job in the first place, and I really cannot understand how he is still there now?

Just waiting to see how many goals Bradford put past us tomorrow, and what the next excuse will be, and how much longer Cellino will take to realise that you cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think the style he played at CP was that bad and showed some good stuff.

We are far from being in a position of being able to ask for a certain type of football and manager.

We need someone to sort out the ethic at the club and then crack on from there. Tony Pulis would be perfect for us as a team, I just don't think he will be perfect for MC.

Agree0 Disagree0

Palace played some good football, sadly it wasn't Pulis who signed the players he inherited them.
You have to look at Stoke for a Pulis set up and style of play, my daughter plays for them and they couldn't wait to get rid of him, from the academy right up to the first team they ALL felt he was strangling the youngsters and wouldn't give them the freedom to play.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 12:39:48
Here's the thing. No top notch British coach will come within a million miles of Leeds. They will have all seen the way MC treats his employees (McDermott & Hockaday), he disrespects and belittles them publicly. We may have the same problem with Italian coaches as MC has been behaving the same over there for years.
So, we will get plenty of interest in the Coaches role (when it becomes vacant in a couple of weeks), but only from coaches who have nothin to loose.

Sad but true.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can see what you are saying but not sure. MC had something like 36 managers in 22 years so he must be able to get them through the door even if they don't stay long. some people might see it as a bonus as MC has rep so they will not lose face if sacked and they get full payment (or close to it) for less work. not saying everyone would see it that way but some might.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 20:00:35
Money talks and on the flip side there are actually people out there with self belief who want to be 'the one' who can turn things around and stick it out - no matter how mis guided! We will never be too long without a coach.

Agree0 Disagree0

Talk about a poison chalise or what?

Hockaday: "The pellet with the poison is in the vessel with the pestle, the chalice from the palace has the brew that is true, right?"

Cellino "Right, but there's been a change. They . broke the chalice from the palace."

Hockaday: "They . broke the chalice from the palace?"

Cellino ". and replaced it with a flagon."

Hockaday: "A flagon?"

Cellino: ". with a figure of a dragon."

Hockaday: "flagon with a dragon?"

Cellino: "RIGHT."

Hockaday: "But, did you put the pellet with the poison in the vessel with the pestle?"

Cellino: "Noooo, the pellet with the poison is in the flagon with the dragon, the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true."

Hockaday: "the pellet with the poison's in the flagon with the dragon, the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true."

Callino: "Just remember that."

Hockaday: "Yes, thank you very much. Now, when are you going to sack me?"

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is the Danny Kaye fan then? can't remember which film though. He plays a jester which is just about right at the moment.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 12:24:18
Ok, so I've kept quiet for a few days but it appears that MC is persisting with his transfer policy (which stinks) despite no sign that it is working. Why can't he see that proven Championship players are required at LUFC, not cheap gambles.
More peanuts = more monkeys.

Heartbroken of Leeds,
Last night I was invited to the Man City v Liverpool game.
I'm not a traitor as like you all I love Leeds however after sitting next to the press box as a guest I have to say we are 1 million miles away and now I'm worried.
Liverpool might have done better if there were 2 balls on the park as they hardly got near the one being used.
They are a very good team and were demoralised to the point of all subs were used and they finished with 10 men plus 2 more walking knackered.
Is it really so long since we slaughtered City 5-2 or 3 when Keane came on and stuffed them.
MC you will have to do something drastic ASAP and spend or else we are doomed.
Sorry guys but we need better.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

£250mill + spent on transfers and god knows how much on wages. A fine of around £50mill was it last year for breaching fair play rules, a fine of £50mill something we won't be spending on players in the next 5yrs.

We need better that's obvious to everyone but i'm sorry I can't understand your post, how can you compare us to the Citizens!
If they didn't have billionaire owners they would still be like Villa or Stoke.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hear you man but just can't compare us with them finance wise ( now or in the foreseeable future)so our team can't be anywhere close. Having said that we've taken a few prem league teams out of the cup in recent years.

I think when we get to premiership big money will be spent, Massimo will want to stay there. At the moment it is getting the balance right we don't want big money players in now crowds of 25,000 will not pay wages need big sponsors to do that. If we can get a decent team and style of playing this year and build up team spirit so we are all playing and paying for Leeds then push on I will be more than happy

Agree0 Disagree0

And even with their billions didn't get too far in the champions league did they and we got semi final with TWO groups of death as was the format back then and bet they don't do too good this year either!
not the size of the dog but the size of the fight in the dog!

Agree0 Disagree0

Not many teams can touch city them and cheaslea will walk league with 3rd place being miles behind. right now more worried about compeiting with such greats such as millwall, watford (who some leeds fans slagged there italian policy) and brighton who are all also miles behind city

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 12:40:07
I think the original post was trying to highlight the fact we are not spending any money on quality players, only players that have potential & that is all it is at the moment they have potential. Having watched all of our games this season I fear that unless we get in some quality players we will definitely be involved in a relegation fight. I am sorry I am not convinced that signing players from Seria B are any better than what we already have & that for me is the real concern.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just don't understand the post re us and city.

We are were we are, the past is the past and spending too much almost was the end of our club.

Under MC this is the first year in a long while that we have spent any real cash so that has to be a good thing. The last 2 years we were 13/14th in league and I reckon we should have a team after the window which should be better than the last 2 years.

At least the team is having money spent on it, aster Bates/GF Muppets never did that.

I understand comments re Hock and I can't see him working, that is MC fault for sure but MC is needing to learn re English league as well, which he will as he ain't no fool.

I will be there on Saturday, keep the faith and hoping we start to gel sooner rather than later but we need to change the midfield and /or system here which has been the same for the last 2 years as I recall.

With all this change/investment/actual interest in football from an owner I have real hope for the next 2-3 years and when was the last time us Leeds fans could say that?

Makes you think doesn't it?

Agree0 Disagree0

Voice
Couldnt have put it better myself ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

The most I would hope for at present is to be top end of the Championship this season and maybe promotion contenders next season?

I am a pessimist but also a realist, and although Cellino has his heart and wallet in the right place he doesn't seem to realise that we are not Champions League contenders nor ever likely to be whilst he looks for a cut price way to get anywhere?

Seems like he has bought a ferrari and is putting remoulds on the wheels?

Agree0 Disagree0

"With all this change/investment/actual interest in football from an owner I have real hope for the next 2-3 years and when was the last time us Leeds fans could say that?"

Amen to that, mate, even Rome wasn't built in a day.

. if they'd have had Hockaday running it, it probably wouldn't have been built at all though?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 09:02:59
Was just listening to Radio Yorkshire. Interview with Emanuale Guilianeille and he reckons we should have the signing of Adryan done by the weekend and also a left winger Cassotta from Catania. He reckonswe should have possibly a new centre mid and centre back as well but he said we will find out soon enough.
Is the curse of becoming leeds captain going to continue with selling pearce to Sheffield united. I hope not!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cheers Phil
Whats holding the Adryan signing up I wonder, anyone any ideas apart from too many loanees?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 10:35:42
If they do then Hunt should be the next Captain Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

Andy, I think I problem is that it involves 3 clubs, us, Flamengo and Cagliari. He's on loan at Cafliari and owned by Flamengo so the loan needs to be cancelled and then a deal agreed with us. Plus it's Leeds, it's hardly going to be simple, is it?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 08:33:39
Just a question if the Hock does go who will we get in to replace him I don't think we will get a manager like pullis but a top class coach who is out there who would come or will Mr C look into the Italian market. I was listening to Ian Baird on Saturday and I think he is baffled by some of the coaching decisions over the last couple of matches. We seem to have some good moments in the games but then make stupid mistakes

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Think most of us do not have a good enough idea of the continent to have a good idea who can come in. Zola, Festa, Hullit are the names that come to me although I am sure there are plenty of good coaches in italy who would jump at this. Also think we are missing the point, ok some managers would not work at leeds with mc being how he is however a lot of managers do work with a sporting director which is effectivly what MC is. I think people can see leeds are a big club, with good fan base, MC has sorted out the finatial side of the club and is investing in young players who seem to be decent maybe a tim sherwood tony pulis might take the job if out of work? also glenn hoddle, ray wilkins both working as coaches so this would be a step up in a way as head coach. would love pulis but think step too far and will not happen so my next choice would be steve clarke. john sheriden and neil aspin have also been mentioned with aspin doing very well at the moment. I also think something was odd with carboni coming then going as I think he was hired to become manager when hock goes maybe carboni might come back which I hope not. one thing for sure the new coach must be better than the hock is there anyone worse?

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim
Although his football was not pretty at stoke he kept them in the premiership every year. At Palace Pulis was rumoured to want £1 mill if he kept palace up (same as last year) not a lot of money but he gets paid a VERY GOOD wage everyweek. Also did he want Martin Kelly from liverpool? Pulis walked and Kelly still signed, maybe he didn't like being told which players he was getting.

Id like a coach that will get the best out of the players, an unknown coach would NOT bother me so long as we played with passion and for the shirt they are wearing ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Here's the thing. No top notch British coach will come within a million miles of Leeds. Links to Davide De Gennaro intensifying. Just how many midfielders are we going to have?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We will have 72 midfielders and hock will still start austin murphy and tounge

26 Aug 2014 01:31:35
Also was just wondering how everyone would line up the team that we have at the moment? For me I'd play a 5-3-2 with Silvestri in goal, Byram Rwb, Bellusci RCB, Pearce CB, Cooper Lcb, Warnock Lwb, Sloth, cook and bianchi in the midfield, and then Sharp/Antenucci with Smith upfront. Tonge would come off the bench because I believe he's quite good off the bench, not starting. This would be my lineup against Bolton anyways, if we play 3 at CB it means we don't need an authoritative midfielder like austin who is prone to mistakes. I would start smith because he can hold up the ball and play people in plus he's the only person left who got 10+ goals for us last season. Post your lineups and comments :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Good post, smith was too good last year to drop, although apprently we are no longer playing hoof ball (which I think we still are from what I have seen and with poor midfield I think hoof ball should be played might more be effective). think this formation is certainly worth a shot. wouldn't start cook, great player but young and don't think is strong enough yet and might get burn out/injured. I would start tounge but tell him cook will be coming on so run ragged as you won't be on for 90. at least with wing backs we might be bit more soild and it solves the two left footed center back problem and support the weak midfield. the only other alturnative is stick with the midfield diamond as that seems to be working well

Agree0 Disagree0

Might be tricky playing Byram

Agree0 Disagree0

Dont be silly speedy we can just put him in blonde wig and beard no one will notice

Agree0 Disagree0

Change the name on the back of the shirt to not-bryam

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2014 10:07:59
Would play Berardi instead of Byram at the moment. Same midfield with Doukara playing a free role behind Sharp and Antenuccci. Tonge, Pearce, Benedicic, and Smith on bench. Until Doukara fit would play Benedicic with Mowatt on bench

Agree0 Disagree0

"Byram Rwb, Bellusci RCB"

Think the FA might have a problem with this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

More importantly, will be be selected??

Doh sorry :( only just got the Casper joke. It's a good one lol!

all these signing have resulted in one thing. You cannot get a decent hotel room in Leeds for love on money. They are packed out foreign travellers on short stay visas.

Why are we putting cooper on the bench he is head and shoulders a better player then Pearce strip him of captain and grow some balls we need better from leeds united mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Bit harsh on pearce. think he is good defender but needs a good person alongside him, terry would look poor if playing with wooten

OOOO Harsh, but probably true! Like the look of Cooper from what I've seen. Don't think Pearce will ever make a captain
