Monty Gimpel sounds like a great signing. (love the name) I feel that if we've beaten big 4 clubs off for him then he must be a good acquisition, i hope he gets a chance as it would be nice to see some talent for the future start to emerge. :)

P.S. Think we'll make a killing in shirt sales if he gets the 1st team action he's being told about ( who doesn't want the comedy value of the word G*mp on there back)

Well done to the lad and i hope he provides us with many years of clean sheets

All these idiots linking Leeds players with their clubs when they are under contract and have stated their happiness at this contract. I think you need a reality check.

Just stop and think for a moment. How many players have Leeds actually SOLD over the past few seasons, since Bates brought the club back from financial hell? And how many of these players were playing in the first team, and impressing, and attracting interest from the biggest names. Just one, by my count; Fabian Delph, and that was simply because Aston Villa, a club reknowned for improving young, English players, came in with a very decent offer with some decent add-ons that benefitted the club, which was in League 1 at the time. It smashed the transfer sale record for that division!

The point is, despite what Norwich and the other fools may think, Leeds are not a selling club. Can you imagine Norwich coming in with their puny bid for Snodgrass (which I don't think will even happen; Lambert isn't stupid like some of his fans are) and the look on Ken Bates' face. He will tear their negotiators to pieces before he lets them even think about a deal. Its not even worth worrying about. The same goes for Kaspar Schmeichel and Leicester. I'm sure Sven with offer a good price, but Grayson needn't have to fix what isn't broken. We are not, repeat, not some feeder club like so many others have become in the football league.

The reason? It's said a lot, but I don't think it's quite registered with some folks yet, so I'll say it again. LEEDS HAVE NO DEBT. LEEDS ARE FINANCIALLY SOUND. LEEDS HAVE NO REASON TO CASH IN ON ASSESTS OF ANY VALUE TO THE CLUB.

Think I've made my point, so here are the players who I've heard could be genuinely on the move:
Bradley Johnson - West Brom
Neil Kilkenny - Birmingham
Leigh Bromby - Peterborough United
Alex Bruce - Huddersfield Town

wish we could be discussing rumours on a new manager aswell as new players, grayson has a proven track record of signing cr*p players so don't be expecting many good signings

{Ed006's Note - I've never understood the hard feelings towards Grayson. He is a good manager doing a good job. I must admit he does sign some poor players but he does get them playing at times.}

He didn't get them playing in the latter part of the season and he certainly didn't get the defenders playing at any part of the season.

Last season he seemed to lose plot, sayin he was happy with certain players in training (paynter) n not realising how terrible in games some players were, why loan out nunez n white when they would clearly have made a difference.

The best signing leeds could make is to get kilkenny on a new contract, he is the only player with any vision and composure when it comes to passing a ball, yes he is a bit on the chubby side and maybe even a tad lazy at times but if we sign a strong hard-working battling midfield player to sit alongside him and do all of the dirty work he can pass teams to death. Daid norris and alan smith would probably fir this role perfectly. As far as snodgrass is concerned I think a couple of million for a winger who lacks real pace and 50% of the time can't deliver a good cross is a good deal for us, don't get me wrong I think he is a quality footballer at times but think he is much more suited to the sort of role howson played most of the reason as he did against spurs and arsenal. Think we need to sign a couple of good full backs and another good keeper such as westwood. But grayson seems to only sign full backs who are good going forward but poor at the back, in which case aidy white would be the best choice due to his sheer pace. Also think we may need another centre back as kisnorbo looked a bit suspect against qpr, i know it was his 1st match in over a year but he may not the player he was after such a long injury lay-off.

Alternatively we'll chase about 4 of those who have been released and are available for nowt but they'll turn us down as they'll get far better offers elsewhere in the Championship.

At the end of the summer SG will say he's happy with the squad of players he has available.'

RELAX, GRAYSON WILL STRENGTHEN THE SQUAD BECAUSE IT IS CLEAR THAT HE IS NOT HAPPY WITH WHAT HE HAS GOT AS LEEDS ARE NOT RENEWING JOHNSON AND KILLA'S DEALS. ALSO WE HAVE NO LEFT BACKS GOOD ENOUGH TO PLAY FOR US REALLY

Right. First of all, why spend money on players when we can get them for nothing (if they are good players then the price doesn't matter I suppose)

We need:

A keeper to back up Kasper (Murphy, Westwood??)

A right back (hopefully Lichaj)

A centre back

A left back

2 central midfielders (defensive mids, we have Howson Nunez and Clayton)

ONLY SIGN 1 CENTRE MID IF JOHNSON STAYS, AND USE THE MONEY THAT WOULD BE USED ON ANOTHER ONE TO SIGN A STRIKER

WE WON'T SIGN ANY OF THESE EX LEEDS PLAYERS, THEY'VE HAD THEIR TIME OK! !
