Honestly is it just me who can't see a downside to bechio leaving?
-McCormack (who is a much better forward and can score just as many as bechio) will become first choice striker
-Bechio (who has served us well) will be able to advance in his career and secure some money for when he retires in a few seasons time
-The money from bechio can be used to strengthen our squad in the future (tht is if GFH don't follow in bates footsteps)
-At least he's been 100% honest and sayin he wants more money rather thn tryin to sugar coat it

I honestly see no bad in bechio leaving and wish him the best for the future he is for sure a leeds legend and will forever be remembered as one of our finest assets during our run in the lower leagues.

Believable38 Unbelievable1

Fair comment, made good money from and got a good return over the last 5 years. Good luck to him and will be in our record book for a while now as 10th all time top goal scorer!

Agree12 Disagree0

I always rated becchio and thought he was loving it at leeds but the fact of the matter is he was offered the highest he could earn in the championship and turned it down. If he was to go to the premiership, Who is going to pay him more than 20/25 grand ? Wigan ? Please.

Agree7 Disagree1

Would rather have him stat tbh. The more players who can put the ball in the back of the net the better. I agreee that he's been a loyal servant to Leeds in the past and fair play to him at least he's been honest to himself and the fans. Plus the club will make a decent profit for him.
I have nothing but respect for the guy and wish him all the luck in the future.

Agree8 Disagree2

26 Jan 2013 07:06:09
All that will probably happen is Warnock will sign a similar player to becchio and play hoof ball still but the difference is we won't score as many goals as becchio was doing.

Agree5 Disagree6

Any prem team will offer him double 20k atleast as that's what most prem players are on so yh wigan will offer him 25k plus

Agree0 Disagree3

25 Jan 2013 21:27:43
if we can't afford to keep becchio, does that mean we can afford just one marque signing or will we have to make do with loans and out of contract has beens.
we are desperate for 3-4 QUALITY players, not sure
we will get any.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Its not a case of not affording to keep him - we offered him a new 3 year deal which was a rumoured 20k a week....

that's hardly a case of not affording it, more like becchio is probably sick of the lies and lack of ambition. More importantly it seems he just wants a fresh challenge at a higher level which I reckon is more than understandable at 29.

i posted on here some months back that

g.f.h. stands for

'great f**king hoax'

what do you think g.f.h. stands for ?

Believable9 Unbelievable6

Someone told me it was Gulf Finance House but that's was clearly a joke too!!

Agree4 Disagree4

What it originally stands for, give them a chance for christ sake, they arent miracle workers

Agree7 Disagree4

Reply to last post, How long does it take for nw to write his list. ? He knew at the beginning of the season we needed new players, Gfh also said well before january that we planned for january, So don't say there not miracle workers. Gfh have had ample of time to sort this, Yet shaun friggin harvey`s sat with his finger up his backside and done sod all. We`re talking 9 players out on loan now and sod all coming in.

I think its gulf finance house I didn't know the gulf in their finances was so huge.

Let all us Leeds fans ask ourselves 2 questions;
1. If you were among the decision makers in GFH when the 'purchase' was taking place would you have researched sufficiently about LUFC to discover that Papa was the most hated person in the history of the club. Answer. Yes and not much research would have been required.
2. If you invested £52M on 'Purchasing' the club is it likely that you would leave that same most hated person as Chairman and then as some kind of honorary patron. Answer NFW. and stands for no and the W for way. Sort out the F youself.

We are being taken for a ride here. The club's next set of accounts should make really interesting reading!!

Believable12 Unbelievable6

25 Jan 2013 21:31:30
I think gfh will of done plenty of research before they bought the club.the only reason I can see bates been involved with the club now is that he's financially involved somehow maybe silent partner .i don't think it was a full takeover now .

Agree2 Disagree5

Amazed by fantasy and conspiracy theories presented! Whith even a small amount of financial knowledge: hard to see how buy-out could benefit Bates if he actually still own the club through GFH! No facts suggests KB had previous ties to GFH, no facts suggests he's in any ownership position now! The reason for his chairman/president position probably is Bates demanded this as part of deal. If Bates really had influence in GFH, deal would not have taken so long, or been so complicated! Wake up, stay cool - and give new owners time needed! The january window never been right time to invest big money! If right players available, then ok! Otherwise, do your trade in summer!

Agree7 Disagree4

26 Jan 2013 01:34:08
they kept it dragging out (takeover) because they had a full team to build. can you imagine them spending what was spent on a new team, if it had gone through sooner. they told us things were going to change, new dawn and all that. they really thought fans would be just happy to have new owners and would flock back. now that has gone tits up, they don't know what to do or say.
don't believe the crap anymore, this is why we have gone backwards!

i have been told that something big is going to happen right after the jan window closes. what it is I haven't a clue but have no reason not to believe my source and this was before becchio hand in.
lets hope he's right and things get better than this.

To the last post no one could find any trace of kb`s taxes either, So what's this got to do with him not been tied to gfh ?

Us fans need to get off Warnock and GFH's back for a while. The transfer window ends on the 31st, not the 25th. If he goes out and replaces Becchio with I dunno, lets say Kanu, then yes, shake your first angrily in disgust. But if we go out and get Habibou, Gradel, Faurlin and Warnock (loan) then won't we look foolish. I'd love to hear your opinions.

Believable15 Unbelievable14

Well done lad, we need more fans like you! keep positive

Agree5 Disagree2

The point is fella, Becchio as been PUSHED to make any signings we may make, we should be KEEPING Becchio and STILL buying additional players. MOT

Agree3 Disagree6

No, the point is fella, you mean in your opinion he's been pushed, Leeds offered 20,000 a week, for a championship player, he wants more apparently, start moaning AFTER the window closes not before, the guy wants to go FFS, why would we want to keep him then?, there's every chance NW will bring players in, lets wait and see eh before all this negativity.

Agree7 Disagree2

He wants to go because all he ever heard was Warnock blameing him and in same breath, tells us Brown played class, even Eddie didn't know what he was talking about. Why did Snoddy go because of the lack of investment and all I see at the moment is LACK!!
25 days= No players
6 days= 2-3 players
WOW! Some of us would believe anything but thousands are saying, WHAT A LOAD OF B+LLOCKS!!

It's been a while since I posted on here and I would firstly like to say that I hope the Eds manage to keep the website running! I will be donating what I can when I get paid...now on to a more pressing matter...

All of the Leeds fans who are saying good riddance etc to Luciano Becchio have not paid serious attention to the effort that bloke has put in while at our great club...he has been an idol to thousands because of his efforts and goals over the years so instead of letting the board/manager letting him leave because they can't meet his demands why don't we, as true fans of Leeds United, and indeed Luciano Becchio, show him just how much he means to us an sing his name louder than we ever have before? Why don't we show him that his efforts will never be appreciated anywhere else in the world the way they will at Leeds United?? I, for one, will be making every effort to show my appreciation to Beccs on Sunday and every other match I manage to get to while he still plays for us!

Don't be fickle and turn against him! Be United and encourage him to stay, because this is where is home is, this is where he belongs!! MOT!!

Youngie!!

Believable17 Unbelievable5

ANY Leeds fan that gives Becchio any grief seriously needs to hang their head in shame.the mans given everything for 5 years and should be cheered by everybody, MOT

Agree14 Disagree2

Don't be ridiculous, i'm sick of saying thanks to all the 'super players ' that have served our once great club and pat them on the back as they walk out of the door with the money 'we' paid them over the years, if you don't want to play for us f**k off now and let us get on with our rebuilding.
i include beckford gradle johnson snodgrass etc.

Agree2 Disagree7

Becchio has wanted to leave the club a few times says Eddie Gray and he knows what goes on more than any of the posters on here.
Becchio is not the loyal servant some of you people make him out to be. If he wants out get rid and hopefully take the hoofball with him.

Agree4 Disagree5

25 Jan 2013 19:51:32

I need to put the record straight, i've seen people write Haribo, Hobo Hoboboo, Hibobo. It's Habibou! sigh, lol. Oh and I think he'll be a direct replacement for Becs. Ed, do you think they'll bring forward his signing to now rather than a pre-contract due to Becs situation, thoughts? MOT

Nick LS26 {Ed013's Note - I don't know the agreement, if it is a pre-contract for next season it is a strange move with the possibility of Neil leaving}

Luciano, Luciano, Warnock just hates him and forced him to go!

Believable12 Unbelievable11

Complete bumpf....
What I don't understand is that evryone is saying Jones and Warnock were out of order for saying Beccs had, had his head turned. When it turns out they were just being very transparent about the situation... Something that fans[sic] said they weren't getting under nasty old Kens regime... I think now its just a "see who canput the boot in, and try to stir it up" competition...And another thing.. What the hell is wrong with getting Steven Warnock?????? He would be a great signing...

Agree4 Disagree1

25 Jan 2013 19:21:49
i hope on sunday we chant becchio's name to the rafters.
1.as appreciation of the job he has done
2.as a kick up the backside to mr.warnock because beccs has shown some class while warnock and jones have handled this disgustingly
3.you never know he might still be here when window shuts and we have to back him.

Believable17 Unbelievable7

How can putting in a transfer request be regarded as showing class? showing class would be honouring a contract!

Agree5 Disagree8

25 Jan 2013 21:15:00
the point is Warnock not shown any class or jones.
Get in Atkins now !

Agree2 Disagree1

No the statement was made that Becchio has shown class, he has decided that he does not want to honour a contract that is not showing class, if any one has acted disgustingly it is Becchio.

If I came into management at Leeds I would straight away transfer list, or release...
Kenny, Connolly, Peltier, Kisnorbo, Pugh, Norris, Brown, Hall, Nunez, Bromby.

Id keep,
Ashdown, Byram, Lees, Pearce, White, Green, Austin, Diouf, McCormack, Somma, bring in Taylor, Thompson, Poleon, Dawson, Turner Twins, Gimpel, Killock, Payne, Cairns.

Buy? God Knows who would wanna come?
Woodgate and Robinson would be on my targets though.

Believable2 Unbelievable14

Stop living in the past

Agree7 Disagree2

Well it is a good job you're not going into management! kenny, peltier and norris out? joker

Agree6 Disagree1

Lol kenny has clearly been our best gk, norris has been gr8 so far, hall aren't been given a chance, kisnorbo would be ok as spare cb and peltier aren't to bad so i'm sorry but thank god you aren't a manager

Agree1 Disagree1

Agree with the majority of that!op.But I have said before that Pelts is a pretty good, central def.fullback ...oh crikey! As for Killock(i live in derby) and Alfreton's manager and chairman would like to sign him perm.his contract is up at the end of the season so who knows!... As 4 beccs, great servant, but it's final pay day time...i'm season ticket holder, if a another company offered me x amount more, thinking of me kids, it's bye time! see you alll sunday!KEA

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jan 2013 18:52:11
come on fellas! what happened to the 'never say die' attitude or the 'marching on together.'
kenny - great keeper at all levels
byram - brightest prospect in championship
peltier, less - finally warnock likes a CB partneship and we have conceaded less goals
stephen warnock - crucial i'd say
ross barkley - good player at this level
austin - awesome, bringing the old days back
brown - need someone with experience to put there foot in
gradel (hopefully) - what can I say?
diouf - experienced t***
mcCormack - scores goals(proved it when he started other day)

Believable6 Unbelievable3

And the point being ?

Agree1 Disagree3

Well I think green for brown, and whitey needs a good go a lb no point getting in a loan signing to fill in goes against any youth policy. Gradel would be ridiculous signing so I am pretending it won't happen (which is probs true). Just want to see ambition and a long term strategy... We need direction!

I can't believe some of the comments about Becchio and his alleged lack of loyalty.

He's played nearly 5 years for us and in that time what percentage of games has he missed??

He's scored just under 90 goals for us in just over 200 hundred games.

How many people can honestly say he didn't give his all in every one of those games (regardless of what you think of his ability)??

Before Becchio was a professional footballer he was just like us a fan of the team he grew up supporting (Boca Juniors) not Leeds.

So to be fair to the man his only real loyalty would lie with Boca Juniors where he just didn't make it as he was deemed surplus to requirements so he moved to Europe to try and further his career.

I personally am gutted Becchio is leaving as he's been my favourite player of the past 5 years but to slate him for leaving about loyalty is an embarrassment to our club and makes us look very bitter and twisted.

I say good luck to Luciano and wherever he ends up I hope the best for him and thank him for 5 years of giving nothing but his all for our club.

Believable18 Unbelievable4

I don't think many have criticised, We appreciate what he's done and can't blame him for wanting to better himself. The frustration is lack of action in xfer Market which is a disgrace. All this not supporting NW as he's leaving crap is ridiculous, we're not wanting balotelli for umpteen million, just a 2-3 players to strengthen, it's an insult to ST holders and even worse to the new half season ticket holders. Communication costs Nothing GFH. Why buy a sweet shop and have out of date jelly babies ?

Agree4 Disagree3

This is a great post and I totally agree with 90% the only part I don't agree with is him giving 100% in all his games... I've seen him in plenty of games where he couldn't be bothered and the last home game against bristol he should of been taken off on 30'mins
i wish LB all the best he has to think of his family and future as his playing career has maybe 5-6 years left
and after all this is only a job to him

Agree4 Disagree3

Blah blah blah he is another badge kissing judas pal. money money money

Play for the shirt? What are all these people talking about? Becchio has been an excellent player for us. he's scored a fair amount of goals and also provided plenty for team-mates(think Beckford). Let the man leave if that what he feels is in his and his familys best interests because I know that he always gave his best when he pulled on the white shirt and hardly never missed a game through injury. Tell you what if a company offered to double my salary I wouldn't say no! We are LEEDS fans but don't forget Becchio isn't but just an Argie who came to love the club but realises its now time to move on.MOT

Believable8 Unbelievable3

25 Jan 2013 19:08:38
There is a difference between beckford and becchio situation.beckford played until the end of his contract so had no obligation . I think becchio is doing the right thing for himself and I feel the club probably wanted this to happen without getting the blame so it works out well for them

Agree3 Disagree3

25 Jan 2013 18:09:38
Becchio is replaceable with who? To get a player that as scored same amount ov goals this season would cost between 3/5mil and would you give a manager that sort ov money who isn't going to be here next year coz I no I wouldn't as the new manager mite not fit into there plans

Believable5 Unbelievable5

Erm when given the chance mccormack is more thn capable for 20 goals a season

25 Jan 2013 17:45:00
It's depressing when you read all the names flying around on here who we could be getting... and then to realise we probably won't be getting anyone this transfer window. What a load of rubbish. If GFH don't want to spend because they know Warnock is leaving soon, then why don't they just get rid of him now? Its as if they've resigned to another year in the championship. that's not how it should be. They should be taking every opportunity possible! What's 3 million quid for a good player when we'll be getting 50 million plus when we go up to the PL? They should get their priorities straight. I had high hopes. I doubt much will go on during the last day or two, with all the inflated prices. What another waste of a year.

Believable3 Unbelievable2

I say good luck to Becchio. I just don't like what's going on once again. You could tell Jones and Warnock were setting this up, at the start of Jan. Funny how we have no players in yet and the players we are after will come in just before the window closes. What they should be saying, which is the truth. The players we are after, hopefully should be done right after the Becchio sale because GUESS WHAT?? We have no money and we are doing it the Bates way. LEEDS: With Bechio on the way out I'm getting excited. GFH will now have to fork out some serious dosh and land a striker of quality to match. Quick fix loans or temp solutions will simply illustrate that they are no better than KB. The ticket deals they have offered will mean nothing unless they now put up and deliver something of substance. Thank you Lucciano cus you have paved the way in finding out what GFH are and what they can do for us

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Excited !? - the way the new owners have started we won't be replacing him and will probably have to make do. i'm really fed up at the moment - no investment again

I'm a big Becchio fan but after a day to sit am ponder I've realised that he is replaceable, looking back he has scored plenty of goals..... However I can't remember him taking anyone one, skinning the defender, bringing people into play etc etc, yes if you put the ball into the box he will 7 times out if 10 get on the end of it, goal line scramble and he's likely to be there aswel, I believe becchio needs someone to do all the flair stuff an he will be in the end to prod it in, and it's worked, been great, loved him for it..... However if you rewind the clock and place another player in those positions with exactly the same balls into the box, then I believe another player could also score around the same amount, I believe a fit Somma or McCormack in the same position as becchio has been all season could and would, and could take on the odd defender, yes he's been fantastic, and loved him here, but can, and will be replaced.

That's just my view,

Ben

i personally believe to expect to see some transfer action on the last day as warnock loves a good deal so lets hope for that a solid cb cm and an out and out goalscorer!!

Good points made.bring in
Hall. Poleon.& most importantly Dawson.
Comit to playing them for at least 5 games.
Brown got to be dropped altogether .
Diouf could play with Dawson as cm pair protected by
Green & Austin, even Norris or Tonge as a 5 man mid.
Good teams fill the middle and move as a unit to attack.
and defend. If we get some additions ,
Great but we've got a decent squad .

Lot of folk on here talking about past players of "quality" would have stayed if the right "ambition" would have been shown by the club....
Well, next time your a supermarket, see how much "ambition" pays for your shopping.
Or how much "ambition" buys your next car.
Or pays your mortgage.....
Loyalty is a very rare trait in any profession and Senior Becchio has shown that in spades while captain chaos has been at the helm....
Where ever you end up scoring your goals amigo, thanks for the memories...
Im going off to ask my boss to show me his "ambition" and ask him for a pay rise...
I'll keep you posted on how many ways he shows it...!!!

Believable8 Unbelievable4

If we had showed a bit of ambition we would have a much better chance of being in the premier league now. Therefore they would've gotten better wages. not really sure what your point is with this post?

Agree0 Disagree2

It's not really relevant to compare any profession to football. Football is a profession that allows you to live comfortably in the Premiership down to league 2, even leagues beyond that the likes of Harrogate Town have paid players £900 per week, knocking on £50k per year there is certainly no extra job needed there.

It is clear as a Leeds United fan that ambition is a necessity to keep players and ultimately keep fans at the games, there is only so much disappointment you can endure.

My main problem is not the lack of investment in players (yet) but that of the silence, and I don't mean announcing who we are trying to approach, simply installing a bit of confidence in the fans that we can compete in the market and there is money to be spent on players that will drag us out of this league and back to the premier league where we should be.

Something needs to be done, because this thread bare squad will not compete at this level without pace and creativity, 2 things we clearly lack

i believe that gfh capital are simply playing politics with the leeds supporters and have signings in place but won't unleash them to the public until nearer the end of the transfer window to amp up tension and when they are revealed will be seen as saviours of the club.... its simple human psychology, and smart from a business stand-point .... from hearing comments on the press conference and from what I have read online I believe that coming into the club will be gradel habibou and warnock....

going out will be becchio to cover the costs and plus he wants

would take this trade and would like to think what people think about this?

Believable5 Unbelievable7

Signing any players...for actual money, who are under 30 years of age and who have quality to offer to the first team would be seen as favourable to Leeds fans at any point in the transfer window. Never mind psychology, cold hard finances are the key. No key signings, sees attendances at Elland Rd dwindle, people don't buy half season tickets and the club suffer the decreased income, it would not be a wise policy by GFH. Quite simply, the new group either have money and ambition for the club and we see some signs of that within the next 7 days, or we sell our leading goal scorer and maybe sign a few has been freebies, either way the next week will show us the real truth about this takeover!

I think a lot of fans on here are slightly deluded, some of the names being banded about are absolutely ridiculous . Come the 31st of january none of the so called icing on the cake signings will have been made and the squad will be yet again weaker, ok the owners may sanction a few loans & sign a couple of has beens but forget your Gradels &
MC Smiths because it ain't going to happen . I hope I'm wrong & like everyone else am celebrating a Leeds revolution but I don't think so . Once again the lifeblood of the club are getting mugged off & it must stop

find it strange that people believe the club statement about Becchio. Are the club really gunna come out and say that he handed in a transfer request for reasons that go against the club ? He signed a new contract recently and was happy with the money he was offered. since then he's scored 19 goals, been touted to other clubs by Mick Jones, blamed for our style of play, blamed for having a bad game (Warnock has defended some shocking performances --Brown anybody ?). he's probably sick of being singled out and sick of the management. I think the club are hanging the bloke out to dry. If he goes, then like Howson, Snodgrass and others, I think he was shoved towards the exit.

Believable18 Unbelievable10

BANG ON THE MONEY!!! We keep sucking up the lies that come out of E/R. How can every player that has left us be Greedy. Why is the transfers coming in rifgt at the end? or yeh I forgot we are selling Becchio just in time to make it look like we spent something.
BET! they don't tell us how much he was sold for or how much the new players cost(if any!) They will gladly tell us how much they have offered Bercchio.

The club are lying and nothing has changed since:

- Jermaine Beckford
- Bradley Johnson
- Kasper Schmeichel
- Max Gradel
- Jonny Howson
- Robert Snodgrass

All left the club.

Becchio is 29, and has one chance to make a name for himself and play at a higher standard (plus earn himself a few extra quid), he aren't going to do that at Leeds. The worrying thing is he loves the club and is isn't willing to stay.

Howson, Gradel, Snodgrass also loved the club and all left because they knew we weren't going anywhere.

GFH apparently had a list from Warnock when they announced the takeover in early December of players to go and get. So far we have brought in Ryan Hall, Michael Tonge (both of whom were on loan with us anyway and cheap), and Ross Barkley (short-term loan who we have no hope of signing permanently). Where are the quality ˜icing on the cake' signings we were promised? Do people not think that our players don't feel this same frustration?

Fact is “ Warnock and his assistant have been talking up and about Becchio all month, and I think are under orders from the club who want to sell him. I think he's a quality player who's consistently scored goals, and we're the same old ˜selling' club feeding those clubs that used to want to be us.

Same old fans turn on their 'heroes' as soon as they don't commit to the club and throw the 'don't want to play for the club and care about money, blah, blah, blah' rubbish around.

Truth is all of the players named above would probably have stayed had we demonstrated the right ambition to progress, and yes - that includes spending a bit of money.

No foresight to think if we only spent a few million this season we could be on for a £90m Premier League payday next season.

Same Talk, Different Owners (or are they)¦

Believable14 Unbelievable9

They all say they love the club. I don't mind my job, but give me a few grand a month more and I'd be off like a shot. There isn't much loyalty in football. tend to keep their players for a while and that's because the same man has been in charge. Other than that money rules, not sentiment

Agree5 Disagree0

No loyalty in football these days not just at leeds

Agree6 Disagree0

The first post is nothing to do with a criticism of players or a lack of loyalty if read correctly.

I believe that the players mentioned are well within their rights to leave!

The frustration remains with club philosophy and a lack of ambition to progress. I fully support Becchio, and believe that he has given his all to the club. If I was him, I'd be doing the same thing.

He'll always cost less than Berbatov and score more goals!

Believable7 Unbelievable2

The days a whizzing by, if we are selling beccs we are not going to have the time to spend ? our second top scorer is diouf? as much as I hate seeing all the negativity, this sites one of the only places to rant. We should be used to this by now anyway lol. And who thinks they arre being slightly clever as teams that are spending a lot this season will be in trouble next if they don't get promoted?

Agree2 Disagree1

25 Jan 2013 10:15:05
I think we all need to take a breath and take stock for a moment. Becchio leaving is not all bad, McCormack and Diouf are our best forward line, and we've produced our best football when these have played.

If we can get 3-4 million for Becchio and try and get in Dorrans (Loan to buy?), Boyd, a left back, and a right winger we will be in better shape. Give Hall an extended run in the team and see how he goes and bring Dawson into midfield now and protect him with Austin & Green.

Our football has been dire at times this season, so to be perfectly honest, if I was GFH, I would think twice before handing Warnock a sack of cash if he's not committed beyond the end of this year. If they are waiting to get another manager in before they start investing in players, then I'm behind that 100%, it's what I would do.

We all need to lay off GFH, they could potentially be the best thing to happen to our club in 20 years, give them some time to learn and work through the numbers, it's not fair to expect them to just start throwing money around off the bat.

I'd be reasonably happy with a team like this by the end of the window.

Kenny, Byram, Lees, Pearce, Warnock, Austin, Dawson, Green, Hall, McCormack, Diouf.

Start with this and if we can get a couple of bonus signings in (Habibou, Gradel, Barkley) then all the better.

Believable21 Unbelievable6

Sense at Last!! Legend!

Agree2 Disagree2

I like the sound of this. I do want hall to ehave an extended run. A few games he has come into he has played well and changed the tempo and he does well in the development sqaud. Yes there was the game where he was diabolical for 45 mins but if he got a run in the team he would adapt and settle in.

Agree1 Disagree0

This club is a joke and I am sick of it, joining five others in my local in retiring from regularly following this club, I may go to the odd game from now on, but after 2o years I have had enough, do you really think that any money we recieve for becchio will be put straight back into the team? we are a champoinship club now with no ambition.

Agree2 Disagree3

I agree with everything apart from Dawson, I just don't think he would be ready yet, are you just going off reports or I have never seen him play but its a lot to ask. Barkley will good there and can create chaces as we have already seen just give him time to settle he has been unlucky with the amount ouf cup games, chances are we can keep roll his contract over month by month. Just add an attacker winger/striker how has pace and can play a good ball, It would make all the differance.

Agree0 Disagree0

First of all: at age 29 noone should blame Becchio for wanting to secure his years after football. He's been a lojal and wonderful player, and we should all wish him the best!
Second: his departure may well open up for a new and better attack (yes, I know he's scored 19 goals - but our overall attacking play has been awful). I agree McCormack/Diouf allready our best formation upfront, Lucianos goals in fact blocked this option most games.
Third: a very exiting week! If we do get three "icing of the cake"-players, we'll be better off even if Becchio leaves. If not, we should regard this season finished in terms of promotion, skip ALL incoming panic transfers, let in Mr Nigel Adkins, play our youth players, and let him have the rest of season as basis for long term development of a new exciting team playing attractive exciting football next season! We've learned from previous years that promotion must be gained in first positive flow - if not, star players will disappear quickly! To late for NW now, if not the coming days bring us gold an diamonds (at least more than grey stones!)

Agree2 Disagree0

Its on tv transfer news that NW has ststed we don't need to sell Becchio in order to bring players in, be interesting to see how much is spent then.

Agree1 Disagree0

OP here, nice to see other people with a bit of perspective. On the Dawson front I've seen him live once, but followed reports for a while (as well as hearing some words Howard Wilkinson had to say about him) and anyone who's scoring Hattricks out of centre midfield is worth getting some first team exposure. I agree he may not be 100% ready, but with Barkley around on loan and Tonge in the squad, I see no reason why he can't start getting 30-45 minutes a game to bed him in, Milner, Lennon, Woodgate, Smith - They all broke through around this time, look at Byram as a perfect example.

My gut feel says Warnock will probably walk at the end of the season, which means GFH are 110% correct not to give him cash to spend, of course they can't announce this and write the season off as everything will collapse (attendances, performances, motivation etc), so I feel for them, they really can't seem to win.

If NW is taking us forward into next season, you'll see some movement in this window and a lot more in the summer, my assessment of this season is average. We have a solid core of the squad which is capable of promotion, but we are missing 3-4 bits of true quality that will move us on. Incidentally, I don't count Becchio as anything more than a solid player.

Time to keep chins up and mouths closed, I feel the frustration as much as anyone, and I'm desperate for us to succeed, but the last thing we want is to make GFH question why they got involved at all with all the moaning.

When bates sold leeds he said it was important to find a buyer with funds available to take leeds on to the next stage.
He said that GFH certainly do(implying that it was an understatement)
We find ourselves now with no real action in this window apart from our top scorer wanting to leave, and a former loanee saying that leeds had money trouble.
Bit quick to judge GFH but the rumblings have been there since the exclusivity period momentarily ended in August.
I am getting the feeling bates 'sold us out ' no suprise there and GFH wanted the exclusivity of a English big football club but don't have a 'running costs' account.
We are becoming a joke or are still a joke depending how you stand, I just hope we don't do a Pompey!

Becchio leaving is not a bad thing, maybe now we can start passing and holding on to the ball, we are actually a good passing team when we move and stop pumping the ball up. where does this guy think he is going to go, no premier team will take him, who is going to pay 30k plus a week for him they must be mad.
We only needs a couple more ball players and another ball playing forward and we will be there about's.
Apart from the odd game our worst performances this year is when we have Becchio losing the ball, NW has mentioned this on many occasions he know's that Becchio is too inconsistent and that is why he mentioned that he requires a striker months ago. OK you lot will say Becchio scores goals, yes but Somma and McCormack score goals, these two are better ball players and better for the team. Kevin Leeds 50 years

But
I have to be honest if we can get £3-4 million for him I want him to go if the money is spent on replacing him
Don't like the deadly silence from the owners either

I don't know why people are blaming the club for Becchios request, he's already the top earner, between 15k and 20k. What more does he want? Why does he expect more money at 29? Maybe 5 years ago. Sick of these players, I though Becchio was one of our most loyal, guess not. Sad to see but wage caps are here for a reason and if ours is 15k or so then that should be enough.
