Does anyone know of any likely players for leeds to purchase to certify a promotion challenge next season????

Been a Leeds Fan man and boy 40 years seen it all, do a 600 mile round trip even when we were 3rd division but how many times have I seen us falter at the last!

We need leaders on the pitch and a general/ tactician who can read the game off it. We have neither of these, as we are doing things on the cheap. Hence where we are.

A club our size with our history deserves better and although Bates has stabilized the club it is not in our nature to be also rans, ever. The defence is shocking (has been from day1)and the strike quality to thin, if Larry is still with us next year (will give him 10-15 games) he needs to take a good look at himself to see if he and his management team are really up to the task. Once again this season we have been sublime and ridiculous, but disappointment is a bitter pill and these last 5 matches for me have been an insight into our teams metal strength and serious questions have to be asked.

I have been posting on this site for several weeks now suggesting that Grayson has lost it OR Bates hasn't budgeted to go up yet due to the debt arrangements. Bringing in, as predicted, Bannon and Livermore was a huge mistake. Playing the other players out of position where they has regularly shown they cannot cope; persisting with Payntor who was never a good signing (as I also pointed out). Not bringing in a defensive midfielder and a CH to help shore up the defence and allow Somma to play up front with Becchio. (Note: if there were no holding players available he should have stuck with what he had and not made matters worse by bringing in the players we did not need). All these problems were entirely predictable to anyone who knows anything at all about football. I did say on this site, after the Notts. F. game we wouldn't win another one this season. I think I will be right unless top six is out of the question before the last two games in which case we might win if it doesn't really matter. Grayson is either not that good (see the bad blip last year or its a strategy that is aimed at keeping Leeds in the Championship until the club(Bates) really wants to get promotion. Still have my season ticket for next year. Hope its not as frustrating as this year. I don't mind the fact we have given away a good position, that happens in football, its just the way it has been handled.

To the person who said about players possibly leaving in the summer - as the ed pointed out, depends on our league status but I would've thought Bates will be tempted with offers for Snoddy and Gradel if they are in excess of £1m from the likes of West Brom, Stoke, Newcastle, whether the players in question would be interested in leaving is quite another matter! Hopefully we won't have to contemplate this and Leeds will sort their act out and get in the playoffs! !

Or even worse, staying at Chavcastle United. . . . ;) {Ed007's Note - I have no idea to be honest, but I think he will want to stay in the EPL, so unless you can make the play offs and go up, I don't think he will drop down a league}

Not a rumour, was just wondering does anyone know how much money leeds will have for transfers if we do not get play offs? im pretty sure bates will make sure its limited, but its clear we need an improved defence to get promoted and you don't pick up quality defenders for nothing these days. what do you think ed? any names??
