We were excellent today - all round - even Wood played better. He is still a long way off what I think we should have. He is not clinical enough and his hold up play could be better. In fairness he is much improved on what he was previously. Hope the progress continues. Rest of the team very good, . Phillis was a bit out of it first half but improved. Very enjoyable game I thought. Pity we didn't get three or four but that's being picky.

accurate post Hess, personally speaking I know woody's not the best striker in the world (but he wears the white shirt so i'm backing him) but he was immense today.

Spot on post Hess. Today is the best we have played this season for me and hats off to Monk. Rather than sit back at 1-0 he kept pushing. Something we haven't don't for seasons. Solid in defence, O'Kane did a great job in the middle and Wood ran his heart out. Only slight criticisms are we need to be a little more clinical in front of goal. Sako's miss in the second half was, well wow and Wood could have have a hat Trick today. Still that will come and things could be on the up 👍🏻.

Stat of the day. Wood has scored 20 goals in 48 games for Leeds. Reaching the 20 goal mark quicker than McCormack, Becchio and Beckford and everyone rated those three.

That's a good point mick . He is looking a lot slimmer these days too. Hopefully he'll keep improving. I'd have dropped him before this little run started, guess that's why I'm not the manager lol .

We were very good today
Green solid and confident
Ayling Excellent.
Pontus and Bartley Powerful and dominant
Taylor good but just does not look happy
Sacko exciting and if only he had some end product
Phillips poor first half but much better second.
O'Kane grew into the game

My only criticisms are why do we continue to bring everyone back for corners, especially when you have the pace of Sacko., stick him on the half way line. To often today we cleared but the ball came straight back as there was no outlet.
My biggest criticism is for Chris Wood, yes he scored and yes there was that cracking shot off the post but he got caught offside to often, was so slow coming back from attacks and won few if any headers when the ball was played up to him. I also lost count of the amount of times he allowed the defender to get in front of him to take the ball while he waited for it. For a big old unit he gets bullied by defenders too much for my liking . Sorry.

What utter nonsense regarding Wood. This was the best game I have seen Wood play for Leeds in a long time. He led the line, was physical against two strong centre backs, won headers and held the ball up for advancing team mates. Scored a goal and was unlucky not to get a second. Wood has played poorly, particularly at the start of the season, but to state he was just Ok today is very disrespectful.

Sorry Notts and Degsy can't agree. He does not do enough for me and does not have certain qualities that our style of play needs. Too often he was beaten to the ball by their centre backs and he gets caught offside far to much. He is our most expensive signing our highest earner and I want him to be a handful to play against but I did not feel he was yesterday. Beechio of a few years ago would be a great fit in this system and style of play.

Yesterday he was a handful, over the season I agree he has not been. It depends how much you expect from a £3 million striker? Those that do what you want on a regular basis cost a premium. I accept that Becchio cost very little but players like that are not easy to find (right person, right club, right time) .

Wood is playing as a lone striker so the two center backs will win the ball much of the time if the service is not good. The lad wad clearing corners and closing down yesterday so he was doing enough for me. I think if you asked Mcarthy which Leeds player he would take it would be Wood.

I thought Wood had his best game so far. Ran for every ball, worked hard and was an all round menace for Ipswich. He did miss a couple of chances and if Ipswich had got a late equaliser then you have to look at chances missed. Sacko was guilty too of a guilt edge Miss, but the difference this year is we don't look like conceding ourselves. Like Wood or not he is doing what he is paid for and whether that goes in off his arse or his elbow if it goes in the net and counts what can we complain about?

Lads n lasses, despite my slightly negative posts earlier about our own slagging Woody and Monkey Man off, it's great to be enjoying this fine run we're experiencing. Woody, for all his critics is looking better and better and would've scored a Worldy if his effort from outside the box and carried from our own half hadn't hit the post. Monkey Magic seems to have got his best team and formation sorted and we have the squad to fill in to accommodate the system. So let's all call a truce, not be too judgemental when things go wrong and march on together. Down the pints you friggers, I love you all.

Agreed with both of the above. We need to stay positive and go forward as one. Let's not give the gutter press and the nay Sayers a chance to break our ranks. Positive positive and even if we lose then we March on together. Just hope we can adapt our style enough as and when we meet a team who have our pants down - we certainly have the depth in the squad for a very pleasant change. 😀.

I'm seeing Jeff next at the end of the month, a cruise on MC's yacht around south east asia, vietnam, thailand, etc. Speedy G and family are coming with us all this time. BW, Wex and DG turned it down so Speedy was his 4th choice.

perhaps Wood may start believing in himself and his confidence will only improve MM and BW have said he will come good .
The big difference is our defence Barkley and Pilot dealing with crossers etc, no nonsense Pilot could be our singing of the season along with Barkley .
Still think a quality creative midfielder who is consistent would put us in the mix for top six.

Four wins in a row and even more pleasing was the domination we showed over the game, a vast improvement from games against teams like Ipswich last year. Building a good squad proven by Phillips coming in and playing very well, would like to see Sacko produce a better final ball but that will improve the more he plays. Pleased for Wood 7 goals to date is a good return, roll on Bristol a tough game but winnable, play offs spot only three points away!

Just watched the video of Silvestri pulling off a great save from Wood in training. All I was thinking was, Wood had three chances and didn't put one away!

You right but also wrong. Moreover, he is the best to lead our line after an hour or so when the opposition defenders have tired and he is fresh. He's still a sub for me albeit developing into a very effective one.
