Right way, Derarai Gray, Birmingham, Bournemouth offered £5mill in summer. They did not want to sell, he signed a new contract with get out clause. if anyone meets valuation can move on. Now in first team playing out of his skin, showing clubs what he can do. Result is bigger clubs may take an interest and in Jan can move on if he likes. All parties win, no arguments and he helps his team till he goes. Byram could have done this knowing that come Jan if he is playing like a future england player clubs would have been in for him, no hassles

If that's the case Bige why not give him a small raise in salary give ourselves a better bargaining position? Then he signs a contract and if he goes we get his salary back and more for the player. let's face it if you were a premiership scout watching him this season, you would be advising your club to look elsewhere.

Because Cellino has set the bar for wages. With bonuses probably same as he gets now. Pay Byram more then Murphy looks foolish for signing his. Personally glad Cellino has took this stance, financially sound and gives players incentive to get results. Everyone same mot

All this talk about Byram, I'm a bit concerned about Mowatt. He is big buddies with Byram and maybe he has known for a while that he will be leaving and this is making him also think about pastures new, which is affecting his game.
You would hope professional footballers wouldn't be like this but they are still just young impressionable kids in my view. Then again I am an old trump.
I'm hoping Mowatts poor form is just a temporary thing. A lot of young players have a great season, then the next isn't so good. Maybe they start believing the hype and think they've already made it.

I hope the Sam Byram saga is not taking up as much time in the LUFC boardroom. It really is simple Offer him a new conract. Negotiate. He signs/doesn't sign. Then off he goes. Every team has lost "star" players cheaply and evermore will be so Just concentrate on what we have and build on that.
PS I know what MC has said but our next big signing needs to be a footballing/business brained MD with massive cojones.

If it is true that Byram has refused to sign a contract even with a buy out clause then its very disappointing. All the signing would have done would have been to ensure that Leeds got a decent price for him when he left whenever that happened to be. The only two reasons I can see him taking that stance is that he wants to run down the transfer fee to secure a better deal for himself or his agent doesn't like MC and its a bit of spite or both. Either way I will see Byram in a different light in future.Playing for a transfer is also not good either.
