Just got back from my local in the village, & we were talking about the LUFC takeover, taking into account there are many supporters of different clubs here, collectively they all felt LUFC belonged in the Premiership. We were talking about the takeover, & one friend posed the question, if Red Bull were to make a 'bid' for LUFC, would it be Red Bull as a company that would have to appear before the FL to prove they are a fit & proper 'person' to run LUFC, or would it have to be an individual, ie the CEO. If it is the company that has to appear before the FL, then why didn't Cellino put his company forward as the buyers of LUFC, & not he as an individual. Putting it like that I imagine it has to be the owner/CEO of the company that has to appear before the FL, sorry it may sound as though I'm rambling, but I've just got back from my monday night at the local putting the world to rights session. For all those reading this in the UK, you may have noticed something very bright, & warm in the sky, It's called the SUN, hasta luego desde Espana

Given that 3 members of the FL board who seem to want to keep us down are from competing Championship Clubs, Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Milwall, maybe we shouldn't line their pockets next year (too late this year) and boycott those away games. Not like the players are thriving on our support this year, maybe they'd feel less pressure with no support anyway.

So what are we left with now? A probable bid from the ironically named consortium 'together Leeds' headed by Mike 'mufc for ever' Farnan. A useless shower of chancers and fly-by-nights who are looking for an opportunity to fleece the club, the fans and keep us in the second their for ever and a day with no bidding power in t'fer market. With the predictable contempt for the fans and more generally the people of Leeds.

I hear that it was they who intensely lobbied their contacts ( at board level)in the FL to scupper the bid from MC. I for one will not step foot in ER if they get in. Dark days ahead.
I hope this soton guy rumour bears fruit, best chance we have.

Brian McDermott calls for Leeds ownership to be resolved, don't worry Brian your jobs safe now, is it me or do u think he is relieved that its all fallen flat on its face

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Course he is, he can use this call as an excuse for as long as he wants to now, its a deflection from criticism for his team & his self!

question for ED. are the FL board responsible to any (independent) authority in this matter. should an appeal be put in, does it go straight to the same oligarchy that stand as judge and jury. How can people who plainly have ulterior motives for a no vote be allowed to vote. not very transparent either. there clearly needs to be changes somewhere its the old closed shop again. the sports minister Helen Grant I think should look at this behind closed doors farce.MOT

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Any ideas why Peltier is being touted out, can't just be the wages, he has played a signifocant amount of games this year and is the only cover at that poistion.

The Forrest deal has fallen through and it is rumoured Bolton are interested.

Strong indication that razor sharp cortese would relish the chance to rebuild the club. May only be interested post-administration however! A serious contender who would have total control of all aspects of the business. this development could build up a head of steam in the coming days.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Mar 2014 20:50:15
Really Chipmunked off by the FL. What's the purpose with the F&P test? We have laws - and court of laws - to take care of these issuses. People convicted for serious fraud in their act of business can by a court of law be blocked from having roles as acting directors or positions in company boards for a periode of years. That's clean, fit and proper.

The FL constructing both its own laws - AND their own court of law with obscure hability - should worry all people concerned with democracy and human rights. Arrangements like these are world wide not associated with preventing crimes but with authorities in need of keeping their own controle, position and power.

Sadly the business of sport has developed a tradition of arrangements like this, and I can't stop wondering why we actually tolerate it? Where is the freedom of speech, the right to property, the protection of discrimination or general democratic values in the sports industry? Anyone out there associating these standards with the international olympic comitee or the FL? If "yes", please contact your psyciastrist! These institutions are not developed to protect our football players, our football teams or the use of fans ticket money - only to protect powerful peoples wealth and power! These institutions should be torn down!

Protect our laws, our court of laws, democracy and human rights!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed - lots wrong with all of this process - not equal - how can it be fair when competitors of Leeds sit on the voting 'committee? - incredible . its like the 1970s - decades out of date IMO, should be challenged legally

stop looking at this as a bad thing, everybody else but us leeds fans can see that MC would be a bad owner, be patient. who knows the next owner. For all we know it could be bill gates.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Mar 2014 20:22:49
I think everyone should just calm down for a second and think about what this all means. Fair enough, we have been completely shafted by the FL and we most probably won't be getting a billionaire owner along with the quick fix we all desire, but big deal.

Worst that could happen is we could be relegated (which we have more reason to believe WON'T happen) and we start a bit lower with some youths. Best case scenario is someone with even more money comes in for us and takes us to where we won't to be. Negative speculation on this site is just bringing all fans of the club down, when in actual truth none of us know what's going on behind the scenes.

I say we all wait it out and see what comes of it.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 20:53:34
I do not agree. The football league have adjudicated on an important case in an undemocratic manner. It does not matter what you think of Cellino. He should have been judged by an independent panel. How can fellow league members rule on another member. There has to be bias. I feel this could be challenged on a point of law. This is why there is an independent tribunal for the police and other such organisations. Finally Cellino has not commited an offence in England. Another important point that has not been addressed. Under EU law for free movement of workers, how can cellino be able to run a club in Italy and then be discriminated in England. My advice is to Leeds is to fight this immediately.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 21:33:01
I don't get how FL can change their decision following any appeal as they would only show themselves to be crooked, biased, unreliable, pointless and anything else you care to name them. I only say this on reading the FL statement on why they have failed MC.

So again I take GFH comment about "ongoing discussions to arrive at an agreed solution which suits all parties" as floss & flannel. They should have said that's it and drawn a line under this takeover and moved on.

I`m sorry MC was`nt approved, but I`m also sorry we are continually fed s@@t like mushrooms in the dark.

24 Mar 2014 20:14:24
I feel very bad for mr cellino after reading what he has said about being failed by the football league even by reading his words you could see he loved the club and felt sorry for the fans and club for not owning the stadium or training ground.hopefully he appeals.we should sign a petition for him to be approved.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - How am I ignoring the debt when I said someone would have to come in and take on the debt and GFH would lose a big chunk of the 25 million they would have got from Cellino. Lets not forget, someone has to pay Cellino his money back, plus take on the loan left by Ken Bates. Cellino will appeal, probably lose and then someone will come in with less money, take on the existing debt and give GFH a less purchase price}

We need investment NOW, yes NOW.
Bloody hell years of crap and now this rubbish.
Who`s going to want to even try to take us on now knowing the stupid Fl will never approve the type of INDIVIDUAL we need.
Tax evasion my arse, every man and his dog try to gain a little back from the tax man.
All you goody goody`s claiming the mans a crook and a criminal, take a look at yourselves.
My club has been shafted again, its like watching someone die in front of you and I bloody care about it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

You got a point there mate, they have decided on what type of individual was going to head us up.

This coming from an organisation who have a guy at the top who put a club into administration and has been slated fro the levi case.

Leeds fans email David haigh and Celino and make it clear that we want Celino to appeal the football league decision. It can be challenged in the courts because it was an undemocratic decision. It should have been adjudicated by an independent panel. It is invalid because of this fact. Celino is the only one with passion and drive and has the money.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 20:27:31
Celino I do not judge you you have the passion and love for Leeds. You are not perfect but how can fellow league members make a ruling on your bid. The police cannot investigate thenselves. I think an independent panel unrelated to other league members should have ruled on this. Therefore this is an undemocratic ruling and could be challenged in their courts. Leeds fans do not take the right thing and make your voice heard. It is not to late to push this deal through. Give Celino a chance. He is the only one with real money and drive.

Agree0 Disagree0

Futile!

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes we should all Petipa the fl. the decision should have been made by an impartial independent panel and not by fellow league members. This could be challenged on a point of law. Leeds fans should email David haigh and Celino re this point.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 20:43:44
This is not futile. The football league should not have other members deciding the fate of fellow members especially in important details like a takeover. It is not in the spirit of the law. I really think Leeds would have a good case if they took a case on a point of law. Cellino has not committed an offence in England. He is appealing a conviction in an Italian court which could take years to resolve so like all court cases he cannot be condemned until all avenues have been exhausted.

The FL have denied Cellino for one reason and one reason alone, they have bent over backwards to find a petty excuse to say no because he's a billionaire capable of storming the premiership and Europe with Leeds United, and the FL don't want that do they?

Keep Fighting
MOT.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Dont really give a Monkeys anymore. These are the same lot who let Carson Yeung, GFH, Vicnet Tan, Allam in.

OK, they may not all be bent, however they either have no funding or know how to rip the heart of a club. Maybe Cellino wouldn't have been good for us, but it would have given us a fair chance.

All the FL have done is save face and again, like history has fortold, changed the rules to ensure LUFC stay down. The only good thing out of this joke is that like the points deductions we were hit with, it will set a precidence and the same scrutiny will be expected of all takeovers.

Bring on the next oppo, let's beat em and keep MOT

DS

Agree0 Disagree0

Or it could be he is a crook who has been found guilty in a court of law!

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at the facts - Harvey was our CEO when we had 15pts deducted - he was slaughtered by the judge after the levi case - when bates first became chairman no one knew who owned the club but they must have passed a FPPT - when bates bought a 73.5% of the club he didn't seem to pass a FPPT and would breaching FL rules have been spent by the time he did - then Harvey is involved in selling us to people who immediately start looking for investment because they have no money -then he becomes CEO of the FL and blocks a move with someone who has very serious money to take us forward . all I am saying is you can see where the conspiracy theories are coming from .

Agree0 Disagree0

Or it could he is a crook who has been found guilty in a court of law!
Have you lived without sin?

Agree0 Disagree0

Nope I was short of cash while at Uni and took the risk of not taxing my car for a couple of months. I got caught and fined and had it on my record for 5 years. It made it virtually impossible to get a job in engineering for those five years, I was glad supermarkets are less picky about there employee's. I served my penalty and then got on with my life and am now happy working in a great engineering firm. Point i'm making is that Cellino is guilty and now has an unspent conviction against his name

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed13
When you say no administration I fully understand where you are coming from but I think it's a blind story.
We are losing over £1,000,000 a month and I know there are a number of court cases flying around which must be settled.
Therefore many more players will be leaving as we simply can't afford them whether they are decent or not.
I'm convinced nobody will part with £25 million for us as Massimo agreed to do and I support comments on here about a fire sale.
So we lose another 8 players or so and reduce the wage bill and as we are almost safe it will be ok.
So let's play our kids at least they will try their hardest to impress.
Haven't got a clue what Massimo will do next but I hope he doesn't give in lightly.

Jeff

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - The outcome for GFH-C going into administration would be a disaster for them. They will find a way to bank roll the club until someone comes in and takes over their debts, albeit losing a big chunk of the 25 million that Cellino would have paid}

I've been Leeds since I was knee high to my Dad in the Paddock many years ago, seen the Revie era & all that went with it, Cloughie, Armfield, Paris, Adamson, The Legends, Wilko Cantona Graham, Yeboah, Beckford Etc etc All the various Owners from Cussins to GFH the ups the down but let me tell you this the downs keep getting harder to climb up from, I was kinda excited by a bit of foreign flair taking over Leeds With maybe sone sexy football & now this! I'm 59 years old & I want ever so much to see LUFC back at the TOP once more to be proud of! & not a joke anymore, But I think that's a dream to far, I feel so dissapointed right now!

What have we done that's been so bad to deserve this amount of heartache & Bad Luck?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 19:09:08
I think Cellino's rejection epitomises the biased, anti-Leeds ethos of the FL. I find it hard to believe that owners like Carson Yeung, Vincent Tan etc are 'fit and proper', though the FL would rather see leeds suffer a slow and painful death than allow them any stability.
Peltier deal looks to be off too, ending the one piece of good news from today!

How can the fl think leeds unites best interests are to deny mc a takeover of the football club after all leeds interests should be top of there agenda . With the gfh saga and now the fl muppets I'm beginning to think all business suits are riding high on petty agendas, personal vendettas and back room backhanders . well. they can all kiss the round pink one . angry fan . getting angrier what a Donkey shambles top to bottom.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Why do you think FL are trying to act in best interests of Leeds Utd? Why should they and what have they done to show that in the past?
They should be making a fair decision based on the rules and applying rules in same way as for all other take overs. They should be acting without bias either way. By not being fully independent from any club they call this into question.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Anyone think possible administration? Really need an owner who can supply the funds to the manager so he can buy new players that are not OAP's for eg: brown, drury, tonge, varney. not good enough for that league if I am totally honest. Need a good financial backing and if Cortese rumour is true then I truely believe things could look up for the club.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed013's Note - No administration}

24 Mar 2014 17:12:46
I find this news today quite bitter to take. The bloke that owns Birmingham City has been jailed a few weeks ago, is he still able to run the club from behind bars? Clearly he is more trust worthy that Cellino in the eyes of the FL!

The other thing which makes me so angry is obviously the FL are not worried if we go out of business!
It has been well documented that we are loosing unsustainable amounts of money every month and will surely soon go out of business. Yet they would rather that happen, than pass what could have been our last hope before becoming the new Portsmouth, just to save face.
Shaun Harvey you are a disgrace and we all know you voted against us as the FL statement ready unanimously vetoed the bid. The coward isn't even supposed to be in the country!
I would love him to try an d show his face at any of our games again!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The FL cannot force him to sell the club, once a person is in charge they can do nothing about them. That was the situation they were trying to avoid with Cellino in that f they accepted him and then he was still found guilty in his appeal they would have a second criminal in charge of one of there clubs. Anyway it is kind of a mute point as I believe as has been pointed out a few times on here that Yueng doesn't have any dealings with BCFC anymore

Agree0 Disagree0

Carson Yeung had to step down. He removed himself from all football related activities in Feb as he knew he was being convicted.

Harvey isn't on the FL board of directors so he didn't get to vote on Cellino. He just put forward all the information.

Our club is safe. We won't go into admin. Gfh are useless at running a club but if we go into admin then they will lose everything. That won't happen.

Stop panicing. Today is a good day. We weren't bought by a convicted criminal. Rejoice!

First poster totally agree . ''Shaun Harvey you are a pedant and in our eyes a total disgrace'' read this wise quote and learn . Not so much any transfer gossip, but has anyone got any idea what is actually going on at the club? Losing 1m a month can't be good. Administration on the cards? Lee Peltier getting loaned out to Forest and hopefully getting him off our wage budget is probably the best bit of transfer business we have done in a while! Brown, Diouf, Tonge, Varney, Drury Zalikuas, Kenny. All players that need to go because this wage bill has been hit hard when warnock was in charge. can't believe he's even linked with another job.

Thought you might like this one ED.

Johnny wanted to have sex with a girl in his office, but she belonged to someone else.
One day, Johnny got so frustrated that he went up to her and said, 'I'll give you a 100 POUNDS if you let me have sex with you.
But the girl said NO.
Johnny said, 'I'll be fast. I'll throw the money on the floor, you bend down, and I'll be finished by the time you pick it up. '
She thought for a moment and said that she would have to consult her boyfriend.
So she called her boyfriend and told him the story.
Her boyfriend says, 'Ask him for 200 POUNDS, pick up the money very fast, he won't even be able to get his pants down.'
So she agrees and accepts the proposal.
Half an hour goes by, and the boyfriend is waiting for his girlfriend to call.
Finally, after 45 minutes, the boyfriend calls and asks what happened.
She responded, 'The ******* used coins!'
Management lesson: Always consider a business proposal in its entirety before agreeing to it and getting screwed! BIT LIKE OUR PROSPECTIVE BUYERS LOL. MOT

To Harte of Leeds, Pelts has been really poor for ages so come on it is no lost for us and won't make forest better for sure. sunderland asked for Wickem back so not down to us, mind you BM was playing him out of position so guess he was glad to go back.

Can he still work it with his son being the majorityholder?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Mar 2014 14:29:52
If Cellino was clever he could play the game. He could resign as director and shareholder of Ellenor and let his son or family member take care of the investment. He could sign an undertaking that he is not a shadow director or has no current connection with the company. Then put all his attention into his court appeal and should that be successful, hey bingo he is in. All Leeds fans should bombard Cellino's solicitor with this suggestion. The football league would then have to sanction the bid.

Agree0 Disagree0

If Cellino resigns as director and shadow director pending the court appeal under company law he is no longer a director. This means that the remaining shareholders representing his company can appeal the FA Decision and demand a quick response. The FA will have no reason to turn down Ellanor as the company taking over Leeds. It is a wonder this has not been mentioned by GFH or radio Leeds?

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2014 14:51:16
Something that has not been flagged by the media or Cellino's legal team. If Cellino signs an undertaking in the short term to resign his directorship with his company and shadow directorship, Then if he subsequently transfers his shareholding to a family member. This would mean that his company could legally takeover leeds. Then when the court appeal is out of the way Cellino can if successful regain his directorship and shareholding. IF Cellino's legal team were clever they would do as stated above. There would be no company law issues and any appeal would have to be accepted by the FA.

Agree0 Disagree0

U guys really think the fl r that stupid, cumon shadow directors

Agree0 Disagree0

Think you guys need a reality check and a bit of technical education. A 'shadow director' is not an official position to which you can be appointed and from which you can resign. It's a term used to describe the person who is pulling the strings of the registered directors, usually for unlawful reasons.

It generally applies when a director wants to form and run a new company without people knowing This is usually because he's been declared bankrupt or has been disqualified from acting as a director and almost always involves getting a friend or relative to act as a director whilst actually doing the job himself.

Everyone knows that Cellino would be pulling the strings at Eleonora Sport. No amount of massaging the shareholdings or changing the composition of the board is going to alter the fact that Cellino would be in charge. There is no way the FL can approve this bid.

Accepting the Cellino bid was always a risky strategy by GFH and anyone with a modicum of common sense and business knowledge knew that all along.

This is not the the FLs fault, it's GFH's. They should have kept their options open with all other interested parties even if their preferred bidder was Cellino. That's simply good business process.

Get your heads out of the sand. There are no grounds for challenging or suing the FL. The Cellino bid is dead and we all need to accept that and move on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely, all the people involved with Cellino, Haigh & the FL have thought about this option, for one, would it be allowed under FL rules.
There's been so much media hype surrounding Cellino, he had no chance of becoming Leeds owner. If he sneezed too loudly, it would have stopped him from now owning LUFC.
All the FL needed was a good reason to say FAIL and they waited and dug for enough dirt on him, so they could fail him.
GFH now have to work even harder now to find investment from somewhere & these investors are becoming harder & harder to find!
It's clear now that GFH only wanted to buy Leeds to sell off at the earliest possible chance, for a massive return, but that has blown up in their faces. Come on Haigh, pull your finger out! because if you don't, you'll feel the wrath of a now awake sleeping giant(with a headache)!

Bitterly disappointed but not suprised by the decision today and to cap it off Wickham is recalled by Sunderland to "cover" the striker shortage at Sunderland, or the truth that we can't afford his wages (yet we will still pay for the convalescing of the spineless Kebe), however I very much doubt that Wickham would have taken much persuading to return home thanks to our clueless manager. So what now for Leeds? Step forward the potless Together Yorkshire consortium who will put in a bid considerably less than mediocre offer they previously made. GFH will try to play hardball until the end of the season but will eventually come to a compromise agreement, but in the meantime will have sold McCormack to cover there losses (expect an offer of circa £2 million to be accepted). Brian will be kept on as manager but will have little time or budget in the summer therefore expect the squad to be filled with the quality of journeymen like Leroy Lita. Togther Yorkshire will then trott out the party line of 4 year plans, sustainable development blah. blah. blah. Apologies if this post appears negative, that is because it is and reflects my current apathy with the entire situation. On the bright side the ownership of the club (short term) has been resolved therefore the team should start playing quality football with confidence and with excellent tactics, as according to Brian, the ownership situation has severly affected the teams ability to play. What a joke

The solution is simple long term, stop paying half wits tonnes of money for kicking a football. Every other business needs to stand on its own feet why should football be different. Leeds is a one club city with good support, on that it should be able to compete near the top of the premier. If this does not happen soon all of Championship clubs will be doomed. Could you really say anyone at Leeds United is worth £5000 a week or more, your having a laugh, my son is a newly qualified GP, 6 years training with little / no wages, saves lives daily, and will be lucky to earn £5000 a month ( I know this is a lot but he has done 6 years for free already ) . Football is all about emotion and they are taking the antelope.I will be gutted if Leeds go tits up, but some one needs to, football cannot carry on like it is. Leeds fan / season ticket holder aged 50.

Agree0 Disagree0

It is quite obvious that by the Football League procrastinating on the takeover decision for so long it has given them the opportunity to deny Cellino the chance to take over Leeds. Every business person by their nature takes chances and are therefore not squeaky clean. This is a very sad day for Leeds United. It is quite obvious that major investment is required including the buying back of Elland Road. The rival consortium is made up of individuals who have only small change each. This is not enough to facilitate Leeds going forward.

Agree0 Disagree0

No surprises really and we'll just keep on dreaming. I do think you've left people a bit more disappointed though because even you have to admit you've been stringing some along with clearly false information.

Cellino has been disqualified from taking over Leeds United this morning, he has 14 days to appeal, with wickham going back to Sunderland and now this it only looks very grim for Leeds United in the near future, makes you wonder what was already known behind the scenes with Wickham leaving the way he has. As a life long Leeds fan it saddens me to think that this once great club is being driven slowly out of business by people that know nothing about football and the community that follows this great club, I only hope we can find another buyer quickly or this summer is going to be the same old stories again, and it is us who will be suffering the most day in day out week in week out it's enough to make you sick of the whole lot of it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Get over yourself. He's now been convicted three times of financial impropriety. What else could they reasonably have done? A half million pound tax fraud is a very serious criminal offence. In my view he should go to prison.

This is not the Football League's fault. GFH were clearly being stupid for accepting his bid with a trial pending and for burning bridges with other potential owners. Hopefully a few of our fans will learn a lesson from this. There is more than piles of cash to being a good owner.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get off your soap box any true leeds fan would be gutted by this you seem to be happy

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not gutted because I AM a true Leeds fan (season ticket holder, going since 1970) and unlike most people on here I think long term. Maybe that's something that comes with age and experience and the fact that I run a business myself.

Cellino's record of sacking managers would have destabilised the club and at best taken us to being a mid-table premiership side. All most people on here can see is the £££ and have been completely blinded by Cellino and his money.

Agree0 Disagree0

As it stands right now Massimo and mid table premier sounds pretty good. And being a season ticket holder from 1970 I would have thought you were fed up of rubbish performances and mid table championship. suck it up though buddy suck it up

Agree0 Disagree0

Second poster, I don't think my question warranted that response. The fl is made up of board members from the leagues teams. You take leeds out of the fl and clubs lose cash. If cellino doesn't get leeds, which is highly likely now, Leeds united are in for a very bumpy ride.
Think before you write an attack on a fellow supporter.

Agree0 Disagree0

You've defeated your own argument with the words 'right now'. The whole point those of us who were always anti-Cellino were making is that we're prepared to wait for someone better with a long term vision. Man U would not have won all those trophies with 20 different managers.

I've been around to see the 'ups and downs' and I don't see premiership mediocrity as being that much better than championship mediocrity quite honestly.

Some of still think we can win trophies and reach the Champions League and I really don't think we'd ever have got there under Cellino because of his impatience. Seems like impatience is your problem too.
