Use our rumours form to send us leeds transfer rumours.

Let's all show a bit of patience and faith. It's not even July and most players are still on holiday.
Grayson does make mistakes and he is far from the finished article, but he is one of the most promising young managers in the Country, and he's hardly had it easy at Leeds! Above all else, he is a Leeds fan through and through, and if he wasn't lucky enough to have been a professional footballer and manager, he would be at Elland Road week in week out shouting on the Whites. He wants Leeds back in The Premiership just as much as the rest of us. And sacking managers is not always the answer....you've only got to look across the Pennines as the best example. Where would they be now if they sacked Old Red Nose nearly twenty years ago when certain sections of the fans wanted him out?!
And as for Bates, well I'm no fan of his, and everyone knows that he doesn't do anything that doesn't benefit him financially, so the last thing he's going to do is make Leeds less attractive to any prospective buyers.
I'd rather it take us a couple of years to get back in The premiership and then be able to establish ourselves, than start slashing cash that we haven't got and find us back where we were ten years ago.
So, show some patience and faith, especially in Grayson.

Damien Delaney.. one more appearance triggers a 250k appearance clause. Hence Ipswich happy to offload. Leeds Interested

Extended his contract with Ipswich until 2013 with option for extra year

How is Newcastle United "mad" a credible source on Smith's views on the move? The Yorkshire Post does however report that Smith wants his full wage, i.e a reported £55,000 a week. With Newcastle willing to stump up 30k. I have to say if Smith would rather sit in the reserves for a year or go to some tin pot club who will pay the full sum over a chance to return to his boyhood club, then we probably don't want him anyway, it must be tough only getting 30k a week

Best post I've seen on here!!

He's a greedy git, thats why he left and thats why he wont return. All this Roy of the Rovers lark is ridiculous, he's a modern day footballer selfish and only interested in his bank balance. His love for Leeds doesnt exist, when will you realise this. After he officially turns us down for the wage at Newcastle, I doubt it his cheerleaders will still be excusing the useless turd.

Agree1 Disagree0

I hope his money and trophies make him happy when he retires, but I somehow think he'll always regret going to Scumchester, his careers been in tatters since he moved out of Yorkshire. He somehow manages to perform well on Debuts, or one offs but it soon vanishes. He was merely a mediocre footballer that got lauded over because of his roots and determination, who's short coming were soon exposed once he left Lufc. However he isnt the only X player to have his lack off skill exposed once they'd moved on.Look to the future lads not the past, thats Smiths job when he retires.

well looks like we will have to wait and see who is going/coming in, bit worried got to say, but will try and be patient, but not easy being a leeds fan, i try not to get my hopes up too much but hard when you love the club, but we DO need to make a statment this year, i feel and at very least need to be in the play-offs, this is a big season for Grayson, he must deliver.whatever you think of this we All must agree that we need to be in the top flight, so whoever goes or comes in we will give them all, ie players managers a chance, marching on together.

people need to calm down on this site. Pre season training hasnt even started yet and the transfer window hasnt even opened yet. How can anyone be already writing leeds off.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

We need any new palyers to gel with the squad in pre-season, what aren't people getting. When we sign players late they take a while to bed in thats why we were so abysmal at the beginning of last season. Even I can see this, why cant Grayson?

Smith's going to put money before his "beloved" Leeds United.

Believable10 Unbelievable1

The guy isn't supposedly in the country and will look over offers when he returns
no official word from smith or agent so it's just paper speculation until I hear otherwise

Agree2 Disagree7

It's paper talk, everyone I've spoken to seem adamant that he IS willing to take a pay cut, we'll see next week what the truth is when people report back for pre season

Agree2 Disagree8

Ok folks, keep kidding yourselves if you like, but he won't come back to Leeds. This is actually good news as we need better than him.

Who cares if he's still on holiday>>> He still has REPRESENTATIVES that he PAYS to do this sort of thing whilst he is unable to. What do you people think agents are for, and shock horror we even live in a day and age where Phone technology exists so agents and players can communicated. Who'd have ever guessed. Bates, Harvey, Alex B, Alan S, Grayson can all communicated whilst he;s sunning himself, and the only think that requires Smiths presence is signing a contract. So will his 'fans' please think before they discredit something thats is as likely as him actually signing. Open your eyes the likeliness IS he won't drop 60k a week.

Agree1 Disagree0

If Smithy wanted to return he would as its evident the club wants him. But the fact these stories are now starting to ease out about a rejection and staying put at SJP seems to be a conveniently timed cushion for NUFC fans that he will be staying for his final year. All parties involved can communicate during his downtime, so it is highly unlikely that he hasnt entertained the idea whilst he's been away. He isnt needed face to face unless he's signing a new contract at a new club, so I dont see how him being In the states holds any grounds to refuse specualtion that he has turned Leeds down. I feel he'll go to one of the boys with money this year in the CCC for instance West Spam, Notts forest etcetra It is very unlikely, afterall players want garanteed promotion and a healthy wage, something that isnt a guarantee at LUFC. To be honest I dont think he'd be worth having when they're are so many other talents out there on a much lower wage, and also lacking the ego and baggage that would come with Smithy.

YEP says Smith isn't willing to forego wages on his £55k a week Newcastle deal. So in essence, to have any chance of signing Smudge, we need Newcastle to pay about 65% of his wages or more, and even then he would be our very top paid player.

Looks unlikely this one's going to happen sports fans.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

Hmmm well I'm still unsure it's as unlikely as that, I've been told completely the opposite and let's face it there's no quotes from smith or his agent, we will see
what do you know ed? {Ed015's Note - I know as much as you guys, Grayson and Bates has said Smith needs to take a wage cut, i doubt newcastle would pay 65%.... their owner is almost as bad as ours}

Agree2 Disagree5

Ashley wants Rid, he'll sell to West Ham first, Smith will get his Blood money, as will his agent. They all win! Why would Leeds get a look in from any of them. as his supporters say hes a professional why is that any different in this instance he'll go where the money is and where he's likely to get a easy ride to the prem. And where his lack of skill wont be exposed.
As for being told the complete opposite mmmmmm thats the reliable source weve all been waiting for. No quotes from Smith or his agent either so cant be true. Works both ways doesnt it?

Agree1 Disagree0

My post was just an opinion and what id heard was an opinion - didnt say it was true, just said it was opposite to what id heard. LOL
Heyho ed...I must be glutton for punishment,
P.S. just because hes training in a gym in America with Dan Gosling doesnt mean anything much other than getting fit, both have been long term injured and whether they stay or not, if they want to play for anybody, whether its Newcastle or whoever, obviously they need some serious gym work LOL

How can people criticise SG's signings when he has no money to spend. Bates is the problem. Its easy for clubs like Leicester to sign good players as they have financial backing. No chance will Foster join for 1.5 million

Believable3 Unbelievable2

Newcastle say he's not for sale but would be an excellent loan signing

Kasper Schmeichel is poised to open talks with Leicester City as Leeds United wait to see whether the goalkeeper will complete a move to the Walkers Stadium.

United cleared the way for Schmeichel's unexpected departure by accepting a seven-figure offer from Leicester on Monday, and he was due to begin negotiations with City before the end of this week.

The Danish international reacted cooly to talk of a transfer to Leicester, however, and a deal between Schmeichel and the Championship club is not thought to be a formality.

City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has identified other candidates to replace existing first-choice Chris Weale next season and the Championship club are some distance from committing to signing Schmeichel.

United chairman Ken Bates warned Schmeichel, whose contract with Leeds ends in 2012, that he had no future at Elland Road, saying: "We've decided that we're going to sign two new goalkeepers and Kasper will not be first choice.

"Now he has a decision to make. He either accepts that he's out of the limelight for a year or he goes to Leicester or another club that comes in for him. We will be moving on."

The sale of the 24-year-old would help Simon Grayson to recruit a new keeper after United's boss made it clear that he wishes to replace the former Manchester City trainee.

Grayson, who has already negotiated a deal to bring 30-year-old Paul Rachubka from Blackpool to Elland Road, is interested in Huddersfield Town's Alex Smithies and Burnley's Lee Grant, while Newcastle United youngster Fraser Forster is also being linked with a switch to West Yorkshire.

So we can kiss goodbye to Fraser Forster. Celtic have offered £1.5m for him - on BBC Foorball website. Another potential target gone!

Kisnorbo is a poor signing 18 months paying his wages when he cant play... Sam hardly played again paying wages to not play.. Watt has had disciplinery issues and again waste of wages if not playing.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

Have major doubts about Kisnorbo. Players are rarely the same again after that type of injury particularly at his age. Sam has rarely played. Smith and Woodgate. Looks like more of the same. Hope we can rely on SG/KB bringing in quality players who can go the distance. Consistency is the key to winning championships. Regular B/B+ players generally do better for a club than irregular/inconsistent A players. Notts Forest won the European cup on that basis (they did have Clough anf Taylor though)

Agree1 Disagree6

Kisnorbo a poor signing? Get real ffs. If he'd been fit last season we'd have gone up as champions. {Ed015's Note - Dreaming a little bit}

Agree4 Disagree1

Dno about up as champions and if he was fit would we have brought in O'Brien. He is a really good player tho.

Agree1 Disagree0

Not dreaming at all mate. Look at all the goals we scored. All we needed was a commanding figure at the back, a true leader, and we would have kept most of those stupid points that we tossed away. Opposition strikers knew they could bully us - this wouldn't have happened with Kisnorbo in the side, the man's an animal!

Agree4 Disagree0

I think those who feel signing Smith will fire us up to the Premiership are much bigger dreamers!
