If we had the chance to get beckford, sharp or Rhodes for free, which would you want? {Ed003's Note - Rhodes all day for me }

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Rhodes. Young and bags for fun.

Agree2 Disagree1

Pointless question, but Beckford.

Agree1 Disagree2

Beckford is lazy and sharp and rhodes are 2 players that larry would ruin the careers of

Agree1 Disagree3

Oh will you just f*** off with your Grayson hating B/S?

Agree3 Disagree0

How could they possibly have there careers ruined by playing games u numpty

Agree1 Disagree0

Rhodes without doubt. Very Classy and a good kid. None of the big time charlie about him.

I posted on here last week in support of grayson and bates and got shot down by quite a few people. I'm going to try to make this a weekly thing and express my feelings and opinions. Like most people on here i'm a genuine leeds fan and only want the best for our club.

I was upset to hear about howson leaving, mainly because he was our captain and one of our more loyal players. I'm now concerned that there is an underlined problem in the dressing room making players upset. Before you say it i don't think its down to grayson or bates, instead i think it may simply be due to the the fact that our team is never consistant and constantly seems to be changing. The players don't really know where they are heading and can't seem to focus like other teams. I do think though that grayson will steady the ship, we need a couple of new signings and to maintain a regular 11 so that the team can start growing in confidence and start believing in each other. Now that Jonny has gone i hope we replace him with someone decent, he was never a consistant player for us and in my opinion want cut it in the prem.

I have to admit that i would be in favour of Smith returning, i no this rumour has been going on for so long and the likely hood of it happenining is very slim, however it would give the whole club such a boost. If he did return, for me it would be like Henry going back to arsenal. This guy sacrifised himself for our club by going to the stum, as a leeds fan i'm sure he hates them as much as we do but when to them in order to raise as much money as he could so save our club, therefore he goes down as a legend. simple!!

I really hope that we have signed a couple of decent players by the time i'm on here posting next week.

MOT

Believable2 Unbelievable3

To put Smith in the same class as Henry is madness, how the hell could he improve us,and as for sacrifice himself,FFS hell receive a sainthood next,he probably doubled his money going to Man Utd,some sacrifice eh,hed split the fans down the middle, dont want him back, even for free, legend my backside.

Agree5 Disagree2

Sorry to be a party pooper but isnt the fact we are not consistant and the team constantly changes, down to an inadequate manager as he actually picks the team?

Agree1 Disagree2

Totally agree with the above sentiments regarding badge-kissing Smith.

Agree3 Disagree1

U seem to be forgetting we was playing same team week in week out first half of season and they started to get tired so the gadgets doing his job and rotating it hopefully now got 3 against Ipswich the goals will start coming in again because I think our defence is doing a great job recently apart from Barnsley game

Agree0 Disagree0

Smith had no choice but to go to scum. Leeds needed the money and no1 else came in with as good an offer so he did the best thing for Leeds in the end and then moved from scum at the next possible chance. what did you want him to do?

Jamie Vardie (Fleetwood Town) did not travel to Darlington for the game at the weekend. Already been watched by Leeds several times. Was seen being driven into Thorpe Arch and then later at the Wetherby Turnpike. {Ed003's Note - He has a hamstring strain }

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Hamstring strain picked up when getting into the LUFC car that was sent to get him!

Agree1 Disagree1

Crystal Palace hope to fend off competition from Championship rivals to sign Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood Town, before loaning the striker back to the Conference side for the rest of this season. Blackpool, Leicester City, Southampton, West Ham United and both halves of the Old Firm have been linked with £700,000 offers for the 25-year-old Gj
note Leeds not mentioned {Ed003's Note - The important bit of your post is that Palace are willing to loan him back,no other team was }

Can't believe this been told. Connelys on 9grand a week shown in a credit check not worth 9gobstoppers

Believable3 Unbelievable2

He's actually on 13k he took a wage cut to join Leeds!

Agree0 Disagree0

Can't be true. Credit checks reveal public records such as bankruptcies, CCJs and information on credit accounts held for the past six years including arrears, defaults etc. Credit references agencies are not allowed to store data relating to income, only credit commitments.

I own a software company and have significant professional expertise in database systems and the Data Protection Act and know that this cannot be true.

If he's declared his income on an application for credit (mortgage/car lease etc) and that information has been leaked then the police will be very interested to know about this post Ed - it's a very serious criminal offence.

23 Jan 2012 16:23:37 just appeared on Chelsea's forum and on another football gossip website ed u heard any thing about this rumour
Word has it ken bates and roman abramovic are having meetings about a possible swap deal involving Chelsea and Leeds as abramovic is sick of the attitudes of the Chelsea players and wants a new challenge in football however the deal has hit a stumbling block has roman is wanting 100 million pounds from bates as part of the deal {Ed020's Note - sounds crazy, and too good to be true. bit of common sense says its not true. but we can hope}

Believable3 Unbelievable5

Never heard so much crap in my life

Agree5 Disagree1

Bates is estimated to be worth about 20million and that's mainly fixed asset wealth not liquid assets. Can't imagine there is any truth in this rumour whatsoever, especially since Abramovich has targeted winning the Champions League.

People who think these americans are taking over are deluded, no one in the right mind would take over leeds, we have no assets. Only chance of takeover is someone who's more interested in reputation and having a legacy rather than making money {Ed020's Note - i'd take over if i had the money! :P}

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Id take over if i had cash too. great city, great following apart from a few morons. the fans are the biggest asset as we are loyal. we dont have too high standards and dont ask for much (just honesty from the board)

Gers fan here. Was speaking to the brother of Robert Snodgrass's girlfriend the other week and according to him Snoddy and Leeds are miles apart on personal terms regarding the contract negotiations.

He also mentioned the your Chairman would rather Leeds stayed in the Championship as there is more money involved..........

Believable1 Unbelievable12

Haha, that's probably true if you consider the risk of spending enough to get a promotion winning team together. If he doesn't need a massive windfall by selling the club once in the Premier League then a nice steady profit in the Championship might be the low risk option. He will need to factor in the ever falling income from gate receipts though.

WAITING FOR THE DAY SG REALISES WE NEED DEFENDERS NOT MIDFIELDERS.

HES NOW INTERESTED IN RICHIE WELLENS......ANOTHER MIDFIELDER

Believable6 Unbelievable3

Completely disgree. We need a decent CM and that has to be a higher priority than defenders where we have some backup at least. In midfield we only have wingers other than clayton. Brown and Vayrynen can not cement a place so they obviously are not good enough.
We have had a decent CM since Batty and Dacourt.

Agree2 Disagree0

Correction - We have NOT had a decent CM since Batty and Dacourt

Agree2 Disagree0

Defenders that are good are hard to come buy, wellens would be a good player, and to the last reply, Micky Doyle was brilliant for us

Agree0 Disagree1

Bradley Johnson and Howson are decent midfielders, but you can't compare them to Batty and Dacourt. they were quality in their primes.

Agree0 Disagree0

Once our cm starts to get some strong challenges in then our defence will get more confidence and the nerves will go away and we will let less goals in

Agree1 Disagree0

I'd have Wellens - we need a defensive midfielder at least as much as we need a centre back. Good move by Grayson IMO.

Agree0 Disagree0

Take a look at the stats, were among the highest goalscorers, yet Coventry, bottom of the league, have conceded fewer goals, and despite SG publicly stating we need defenders, weve still not signed any, weird or what,

Agree1 Disagree0

Look how many defenders we have? 3 maybe 4 that are half decent? What happens when one gets injured? Do we drop a midfielder in? You have to remember paddys out now, we have Darren O'Dear who's rubbish. Don't know how anybody can completely disagree (as you put it)

bates said that our wage budget is £9m and that we're currently at £11.2m which means we need to get rid of players.

The average salary for our team must be about £7500 per week. Is that a good wage for this league? Even if we only had 11 players contracted to the club, they'd only average £15000 per week. None of the decent players are going to sign with that in mind, and even if we didget someone in by paying them a higher wage, it could have a serious impact on the other squad players who are on significantly less.

Personally I don't think its a big enough budget, so Bates needs to do something about that. At the same time, Grayson needs to get rid of the deadweight that are picking up a wage for underperforming or benchwarming. If we are working on a shoestring, we need to build a small quality team, and use the youngsters to help us out, not bring in has-beens and reserve players because they'll play for a low salary.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

The average player salary is nowhere near 7.5k - that figure includes loan fees, agent fees, transfer fees, signing on fees and player bonuses. Probably nearer 3k per week if you take out the handful of high earners.

Agree0 Disagree1

Your question is it a good wage ? How much are you on a week ? I work my balls off for twenty grand a year n jonny howson wants more than that a week. Rediculous

Agree3 Disagree1

It's all about the scale to the 2nd reply, if you were on 20 grand a year like you say and someone offered you 60 grand a year for a more prestigious job, what would you do?

Agree1 Disagree0

Also depends on what line of work you're in. The going rate is the going rate and what you or I earn is irrelevant. Saying 'I work hard for 20k' might be true but you're not a footballer. Lots of people earn a lot more than 20k - actors, lawyers, surgeons, accountants etc. If you want the best staff in any line of work then you need to offer the best pay & conditions. Clearly we're not doing that at ER. Those figures ought to shut the anti-Larry brigade up but it won't because most of them don't seem to understand the maths.

Agree0 Disagree0

was at the game this weekend alot of anti bates and was happy to join in the protest. i know alot of people think it is pointless but trust me people are listening now so join in we need bates out to progress so please support the mighty whites our voices have always been heard and always will MOT..... BATES OUT also met snodgrass and had a chat he confirmed that he is interested in staying at leeds for the long term and you can see this in his determination on the pitch and once scoring.
Samuel Hayward

Believable2 Unbelievable4

His determination could be to show other teams just how good he is and to get a move to a top team in prem league

Agree1 Disagree2

He wont leave whatever you chant! hes here as with that attitude he will never sell a club with fans who slag off the chairman and manager as the new owner could be in the same boat if they dont spend millions

Agree1 Disagree1

Nobody's listening, only laughing while we cant even get behind our own team.....wake up!

Agree5 Disagree1

I can see this anti bates chanting inside the ground putting fans of attending.

Agree5 Disagree1

Just because the crowds might listen doesnt mean bates WILL

Agree1 Disagree0

It's not only pointless it damages the team, destroys the atmosphere and unsettles everybody. And what if Bates got out what then? I remember when Ridsdale was the darling of the Kop spending money and bringing in all sorts of players - they soon changed their minds and there was someone else to hate other than Man U, Chelsea et al(the list is almost endless. Now its Bates. Noone really knows what the situation is now and whether or not there is anyone else to take over from KB and if they would be any better. Just get behind the team and if you want to protest dont do on matchdays.

dont see why some people are bothered in the manner we get a win, 3 points is 3 points at the end of the day, id take a 6-5 win against any team, if we get 3 points and climb up a table, i couldnt care less, if we can outscore opponents then its all good

Believable3 Unbelievable1

If we're relying on someone getting sent off to get into a game, then I'm not so sure you're right.

Yes I'll take the points, gladly, but carry on like we are, and who in their right minds would want to play for us?!

Agree1 Disagree2

Reverse of what happened at Ipswich. We were winning 1-0, were all over them, had a player sent off (White) then they score two late goals.

im not a massive Bates lover but lets face it were stuck with him, and all you Grayson haters are stuck with him as our manager and hes done a fantastic job, dont like it? theres a bog standard league one side not far from us, go support them and their Card Factory owner and their manager who cant get them promoted out of a league that Grayson did in his first full season and make out the sun shines out of their backsides

Believable2 Unbelievable4

Grayson is a p155 poor manager who was walking that league 1 and nearly cocked it up. get real lets get a manager in who knows what he is doing. and the sooner papa pops his clogs the better

If you listen to Delph's interview on Yorkshire radio before the match and you read the article on skysports today, it sounds like to me like Delph never wanted to leave Leeds and has always wanted to just play for us. Seems like he was pushed out to line Bates pockets.

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Or maybe the deal offered to us by Villa was just too good to refuse.......get a life

Agree4 Disagree3

I would be talking like that if I was walking out in front of 22000 people and I want then to like me! You can't blame the lad for going and accepting a fantastic wage rise or the club for accepting a fantastic offer for someone who had played a handful of games. Just glad that he is back, whatever the reason or however long it may be!

we need a player that will give us the fear factor again ,someone with fantastic creativity and a good eye for goal with the ability to beat players at speed.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

Where do you find a player like that for nowt.

Agree1 Disagree1

Wow this post amazes me! We have a midfield full of potential Premiership player, Snodgrass who should put the fear into most defences as well as an on form Townsend (who is highly rated at spurs). This with Delph and Clayton is one of the best midfield's in the league. I also hear that Rodgers is a very creative and dangerous impact player. The problem is getting the best out of the players at the minute. They seem off form and not giving 100% till mid way through the 2nd half at the minute. I think all this unrest and not backing Grayson is having an adverse affect. Elland road is not what is was with all this negativity. We need to create a red hot atmosphere of MOT again. Opposition use to find that intimidating. I bet now opposition managers are using our own crowd to motivate their players. Especially if they know we'll get on their backs and singing Bates out! It will only affect the team adversely! Look at the spirit and crowd for Gary Speeds memorial. The place was rocking and the players responded! We are stuck with Bates for a while and players are coming in so I don't see the big deal. Get behind your team and u'll see players sign contracts and starting performing a lot better!! We Are Leeds!!

Agree3 Disagree1

23 Jan 2012 01:27:56
The best way to get under Mr Bates skin is to divert attention from him and put all our efforts into raising the morale of the team. He doesnt like being ignored!

Like it or not( and I dont) we are stuck with him for the foreseeable future. Lets give SG and the team our best support til the end of the season. If we miss out on play offs or automatic promotion then I think Mrr Bates will fire SG in any case.

I totally agree our squad isnt good enough and we carry too many deadweights but lets sing and shout our approval to whoever puts on the the shirt. Just maybe if the players think the fans are behind them 100% they will be less nervous and play better.

Transfer window not closed yet maybe we will get some decent players in and ship out some of the donkeys. I can live in hoope!

JUST GET BEHIND THE LADS FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. MOT
