i really belive we might see some action this jan because after what bates as said love him or hate him he has to give grayson money if we dont buy then we should protest not talk about it but go to town on the board the blackburn way .if he does then its down to grayson and i am sure with funds we will be ok

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Oh the Blackburn way, thats really sorted thier problems ha ha!

just a word on the statement from derby county regarding standing at the game with us , hse are saying its a big problem and they could have to move ground or close part of stadium let me tell you that if we dont allow fans to stand and get excited now and again what is the point of going to a football match, thats why we go. do we have the same rules as the rest of europe because if we have ,then we are not playing on the same feild yes i do agree with safty but for gods sake i will soon have to get a personal trafic warden to watch my child cross the road we do look out for people because its in our nature

Grayson out sooner the better.Well done Bates!

23 Dec 2011 16:03:31
if people want Bates and Grayson out so much, take some initiative like Blackburn fans and dress up as Papa Smurfs and wear some Larry Grayson masks, bring some newspapers telling Grayson to go and spend your hard earned money on printing some shirts about how theyre destroying our club :S if not shut up moaning and wait till the end of the season then see where we are

Believable2 Unbelievable6

How will they ever attract another manager?
Any manager worth his salt would'nt consider going there, knowing that a bad run would result in that type of abuse.More and more people in football are disgusted by it.

Can anyone remember the last real quality signing we got excited about? Most seem to be fringe players that are has beens like OBrian, Paynter and Rachuba or little known players that come good like Snoddy, Beckford, Becchio and Gradel. Some may have got excited when Ross came but he had a quiet time at Cardiff prior to coming.
We have good youth players that have come in, Howson, White and Lees. Ive watched the youth team a few times and I dont think Gimple is ready to step up just yet. Do we have to go back to the free spending Ridsdale era to remember a class player signing? and we know what happened then!!
What I am getting at is no matter what rumours people make up, no matter who is available, SG seems to come up with someone that we never do. We arnt going to sign top class players in this league like Maynard or Lambart but this is the time the manager makes his money by finding cheap talent and turning them into a good team. Unfortunatley at the minute we have potentially 8 - 9 decent players but are missing 2 or 3 to take us to the next level and most of our squad players arnt that good. I think with what Grayson has been given he has done a very good job. Some of the signings havnt worked out but some have turned into excellent players. Fingers crossed for a good transfer window but I wouldnt expect the divisions top players coming in!
You never know, in 5 years time we may be the new Man City!!!!!

That's easy... Seth Johnson.

Robbie fowler lol

I got really excited about Frank Strandli!

Agree4 Disagree1

I got excited when billy paytner signed, I remembered him ripping our defence in pieces at ER against Swindon, then as time went on I realised most players can rip into our defence and that Billy couldn't hit a barn door really lol

I was excited about Ross, and still am if he gets the right partner along side him

Hey lads dont leave out the slinky Thomas Brolin

Has Ken Bates starting drinking early ?

Grayson has only spent 250k on a goal keeper, and we are in 6th place in the league

Under alot of pressure,he has done a fine job

Put your money where your big gob is Bates.
Give Grayson £3 million to spend in January on new players, this includes loan signings,(short term) with bigger wages

And if we dont get promoted, sack him and get somebody else in

Simples Mr Bates

Believable10 Unbelievable5

Yea with no money i suppose we are in a good position

from what i have read the last few days by grayson and bates. 1- we have a transfer kitty to spend on players-bates & grayson both said. 2- been monitoring players since pre season so we know who we want-grayson. 3- work is going on in the background to secure new players-bates!

if all this is true we will recruit some decent signings after watching them for about 4-5months and with the long negotiating.

just to open the eyes of grayson and bates lovers- when this doesnt happen you cant turn to the loyal whites and blame them!

While I may not agree with Bates spending policy (or lack of), I can also see his reluctance to give Grayson more money.

Grayson has a very large squad to choose from when compared to a lot in this league. The problem is that Grayson has constantly bought in average to poor players at best.

If we can get rid of some of the dead wood (Paynter, Rachubka, Bruce et al) then this would provide some funds plus free up wages. However until this happens old Papa Smurf is not going to put his hand in his pocket.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

The problem is, who is going to have our dross? or at the other end of the scale, some of the dross that leave us go on and play better for other clubs. I agree though, it would be ideal to get rid of alot of players just sitting and picking up wages. SG did start this last season with Collins, Naylor etc.

MOT

Agree3 Disagree0

Basically, Bruce, Paynter, Rachubka, Bromby, Parker all need to go, would like to see Forsell leave as well as he has done nothing and only takes up wages. Bring in Keogh & Pugh permanently then I like to see the addition of a centre back, a central midfielder & Lichaj back in on loan. Lichaj is a long shot as he may be in Villa's team once he is fit due to how badly Hutton is playing.

Agree1 Disagree0

I feel abit sorry for Forsell, this period of games would have done him good and he cant be worse than what we played like!

Right that's it. I've had enough. What's the single worst thing about Leeds United at the moment? Bates? No. Grayson? Definitely not!

IT'S THE FANS!

I am sick and tired of all the moaning and groaning. Before everyone bites my head off, I am aware that everyone has a right to their opinion. But I just think that things are really becoming ridiculous.

I know we've been poor recently, but we are still sixth and in with an excellent shout of going up. Let's stop whinging and show how much WE want it by getting behind the team as much at home as away.

Many of the folks who want Grayson out are the very same ones who want Bates out for not spending any money! Well make your minds up!

Regarding ticket prices, I know it's not cheap watching football nowadays but what is? I have a season ticket and I'm going to be paying the same price next season as I have for this.I wish I could say the same for my Council Tax bill!

A lot of what seems to become the accepted "wisdom" on sites such as this is absolute rubbish. I grew tired, for instance, of hearing how rubbish Bradley Johnson was, when I could see an excellent up-and-coming strong midfielder. He's not doing too badly now, is he?

Another piece of accepted "wisdom" was that the Championship would be a very strong league this season with the likes of Leicester and West Ham walking away with it. Well it's not, and they aren't. So COME ON LEEDS!!

MOT!! {Ed025's Note - great post mate...if all the leeds supporters had your attitude...im sure the club would move forward quicker, and be in the prem which is where they belong!

Believable17 Unbelievable9

Welll said mate, but I think its human nature to moan. If we were 100 points clear, winning every trophy and having Messi in our team I think we would still moan. We have gone through alot with this team and have definatley had our ups and downs, but I agree with you, lets get behind our team and I am glad my season ticket isnt rising and wouldnt it be great to use it in the Prem once again next season!

Keep the faith Leeds fans, and yes there are faults and problems, but dont we all have them.

MOT {Ed025's Note - having a good old moan, is part and parcel of being a supporter, and thats fine...its when people become abusive towards the players and manager, thats when its wrong!

Agree3 Disagree4

Without all the facts I blame Bates and Grayson. Its not just about how much money gets spent but how you manage the players you have before you both tactically as a team and individually. With a set of very average players in a very poor league Graysons tactics border from about a 3 out of 10 up to a regular 5 or 6 at best usually. Something clicked just before Howson got injured because SG realised what 75% of fans appeared to be aware of throughout the season that if you play Howson you must put an extra man in midfield. A nonsense playing him all season long before that in a 4-4-2.
In addition the players don't look motivated - Whats all that about? Who is meant to motivate them? Bates is clearly not satisified with SG when it comes to results and stupid mistakes made by players costing valuable points all through last season iinto this one - he used to be a defender himself for goodness sake - Why has the defending been such a problem. I could go on and on because this is A LEEDS UNITED BANTER site for the fans to give opinions about what is right or wrong at Leeds United.
While I agree with you that we need to get behind the team which I do home and away(only missing one game this season) I fail to see the point of coming on this site and blowing sunshine up the arses of Chairman who spend money on Bricks and motar, Managers who don't manage very well(as above)and players who get paid more than some per month than most people get in a year but at times aren't motivated. I for one think that you are totally out of order for blaming the fans who care passionately as you appear to do for having a moan about things that are clearly very wrong at the club! Just my opinion as you have yours - this is a banter site after all! I never boo at the match but I am deeply offended by the shambles at Elland Road caused by what I have said above - I let off steam on this site instead. {Ed025's Note - i know you are frustrated mate..leeds are a massive club, with great support, but they are in transition, and it will take time before they reach the top again...im just saying realise this. and adjust your expectation level..

Agree4 Disagree4

Somenone talking sense for a change. Well said fella .

Agree2 Disagree2

I was the 1st response to the original post and forgot to say, dont blame the fans, majority of us go week in week out and spend alot of money. Some fans simply cant afford it and its just the minority that ruin it. Keep the faith, we are the best fans in the land.

MOT

Agree1 Disagree1

I wonder how patient Manchester City fans were in the old 2nd Division or Sunderland fans at the same level. Try being the fan of a club and attending the Semi final of the Champions League about a decade ago - seeing your team constantly at the top level for decades. I first started to watch Leeds in the seventies when Leeds were robbed of a European Cup trophy in the Revie era. This breeding promotes an expectation level and I will not/ cannot adjust my expectation level nor ignore the clear inadequacies I mention above when with an improvement will see Leeds to the promised land. Lets face it the league is poor and it's there for the taking if managed correctly!!

Agree5 Disagree0

Obviously Ed is not a Leeds fan - we don't need a facilitator on this site, get yourself down to Elland Rd and then post some constructive criticism after some fans point out the obvious - must have splinters sitting on that fence all day - do you get paid for this...! {Ed007's Note - No we don't get paid for doing this, I fail to see what business that is of yours though. You don't even have the common decency or mental capacity to think up a tag to put on your posts. Oh by the way, the site needs us editors a lot more than it needs you.}

Agree1 Disagree3

Leeds fan or not the eds are neutral to a certian point as its best not to "take sides". the info and expressions they come up woth are usually correct and honest. i myself would love the job they do

deakko- {Ed001's Note - there are some Leeds editors, but they have discovered real lives that keep them busy most of the time. We try and maintain a mix of fans of various clubs to edit the sites, so that people can get different viewpoints. Though we tend to keep fans of one club away from their biggest rivals as a rule, just because, even if they are being fair and as unbiased as possible, people reading the sites don't do anything but attack them for supporting a rival.}

Agree0 Disagree0

I am the 3rd response on here re Without all the facts....I for one really appreciate Eds point of view and a neutral input is what is needed even if I don't agreeall the time. Thank you for your time!

Agree1 Disagree1

Oh and one other thing - original poster again. I'm not one for blowing sunshine up ANYONE's rear end! I'm just making my views known.

Agree5 Disagree0

I am the original poster and I feel I have to reply to the person who started "Without all the facts.....".

Obviously we all have our gripes at times. Do you seriously think I was beaming from ear to ear at the end of the games against Southampton, Blackpool, Barnsley or Reading? Of course not. I also spend a lot of money on the club, being a season ticket holder and a traveller to away games whenever work allows.

The point I am trying to make is that the level of moaning, and for that matter the whole atmosphere inside Elland Road at present, would be far more understandable and justifiable if the club were sixth from bottom. Leeds United are currently sixth from top! I am not out of order at all in saying that, far from it.

My biggest frustration of the Bates era is the manager he chose to back with decent money - Kevin Blackwell! Now that WAS a clueless boss! If Simon Grayson were to be able to spend what Blackwell did, we would start next season as a Premiership club, of that I am certain.

Finally, cheers to Ed025 for the kind remarks. At least YOU understood where I was coming from!

Agree5 Disagree1

I agree with some of your sentiments and principles and yes more money would help though I remain uncertain to what money is actually being made available. Despite the money do you think SG is getting the best out of what he has got? I don't blame him alone but I feel he should at least shoulder some of it. Why can't fans have a moan when things are far from satisfactory - I for one get very frustrated when I see less than 100% effort and I can safely say it's fell far below 100% far too often this year. I don't boo despite this but I can't blame supporters for moaning - for goodness sake isn't that what a banter site is for particularly when things are going disasterously wrong despite what the league position says.
The fact that Leeds are sixth top is down to an extremely poor league. With some imagination and half a technician we would be up there challenging.
It's not black and white and we don't have all the facts! I just can't blame the fans - an opinion we will just have to agree to differ!

Agree1 Disagree0

Ok mate, cheers for the respectful response. Merry Christmas and I hope all Leeds fans have a Happy New Year!
