IF our scouting team are good and IF we have hired wisely Andrea will save many millions in a couple of years with the potential quality of our youth team. Hopefully it will be celebrating at the top end of the league next season. I am just as excited for them as I am for the first team.

Agree leodis. Georgie boy commented on this in another thread about people saying that these unknowns for the U23 were a waste of money when they are youth players signed from the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid. Could be potential stars when they develop. Who knows we could have the next Messi or Iniesta on the books! I think Radz and co are using their contacts in the Spanish etc markets to bring some potential stars to Leeds and we possibly have an advantage over a lot of clubs. Together with our own crop of talent, the conveyor belt of yoof is as strong as it's ever been. Could save us a fortune in the transfer market and also provide some sell on revenue if needed. MM

Evening all, for my sins I live in Rochdale, a couple of miles from Grotlands so I walked down to watch them play Middlesbrough and I swear to God it was like watching Leeds play last season, not just saying this as Monkey boy there but they were playing as we did the later part of last season, I know it was only a friendly and not to read much into it but they were aimless, Assombalonga played and he looked bored and the team were outplayed by a mediocre Rochdale team who won 2-0. The comparisons between the movement, the basics and when they went 1-0 down were in common with Monks management with us. Like I say maybe don't read to much but if I was a Boro fan I would worried! I did see two lads leaving very early! Might of been them! I was stood in the Sandy Lane end with the home supporters, it's been years since I stood and watched a match as we are always seated! Rochdale didn't have a full strength team on show but outplayed Boro. I don't know if you went to our late pre-season and early Championship games last season SG90 but we were very disjointed with not a lot of flow to our game well, this is what Monks team was like yesterday. It wasn't marvellous the last I was a Grotlands George! We got beat 2-0! OMG that was horrific, I had to endure months and months of dale jokes about beating us! We packed their away stand that day but it was a very very poor performance! Seems like light years away now! MOT.

Just thinking, if our new signing Kun Temenuzhkov makes the first team, commentators will use either his first or second name to identify him, but never the two together! 😈 Bit awkward!

Moreover young danum it's a good thing his last name continues with its Russianesque ending otherwise his full name when declared by commentators would sound like a rather poor restaurant to put it mildly.

A worthy endeavour alf. How is this miracle to be achieved? That's rhetorical alf. Fail to see what's unintelligible in my post unless restaurants new marketing ploy is to dispense with menus and I'm unaware of it.

We just signed yet another Spanish teenager for the U-23s. Some Bulgarian 17 year old.

P. S. GIW. Sorry, can't help but correct you as I know you've pulled up many people in the past. He's not Spanish he only plays in Spain. Or has he got dual nationality as you say he's Bulgarian also?

How can we have too much youth talent when the development squad finished bottom of their league last season ? Quality young players are being brought in with a view to progressing into the first team squad. These players are coming from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Valencia and although does not automatically mean they will make the grade, if one or two do it would save the club millions.

Agree with you Notts - a man who knows his football along with the likes of BIGE. Can't see a problem with signing young uns from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid etc. They're not being asked to play first team football, just develop along with the the future conveyor belt of talent we already have within the club. Makes me feel confident that this source of emerging talent will only continue. This was the case with Wilko who pioneered our youth set up and is the best way to build for the future. No good simply signing has been mercenaries looking for their last pay day and not giving a flying took about Leeds, but develop hungry youth players with their careers ahead of them. Points to prove and could be great investments if we sell on for big bucks. MM

Part of the problem also is that when I young player starts to attract attention a number of clubs will send scouts and I suppose are indifferent past has deterred a number of youngsters . Last year are u23 squad was lacking whether that was a down to poor coaching as well I don't know, but did we not pick up Ron Vi and his brother on a free deal. If we are going to start bring in players from over-seas if they come from a known decent club then they have got to be worth a punt and let's face it Real Madrid and Barcelona are a bit more then decent .

U23s were bad last season because half the team went to first team and we had that many trialists the likes of Malik, Farrell, could not get a game. I stopped going to watch them in Feb as it was daft. With these young kids we are signing will def have to have a look at them. Not really bothered where they come from as long as they can do a job at Leeds. But they are coming from some of the best youth set ups there are. The lads that have come through the ranks will work harder to impress so will be interesting. Cream comes to the top.

Ausman, PL players are far too expensive. Within five years, we wouldn't be able to afford a single one. The academy and foreign gems will be the way forward.

22 Jul 2017 18:57:38
If they're good enough and improve the u23s, then I'm not bothered. It's not like Kewell came from Kippax. We don't have a record of producing the kind of technical players Spain do. We're good at full backs and tackling CMs, but not creative playmakers.

22 Jul 2017 18:42:47
Totally disagree Aus. Your opinion shows you don't know the game. None of the top PL clubs share your view. Over recent years say the last decade, a fair few British players have been produced who are international class maybe even a tad better but perhaps not quite world class in defence, goalkeeper and midfield but not so many in attack. Only Rooney Owen Shearer come to mind.

3 players but 92 clubs in England. Do the math bro. There's an obvious need to recruit elsewhere in attack in order to be competitive. Indeed, our leading striker and frankly saviour of last season originated from the most distant country to ours on the planet.

I think bringing in young talent for the youth squad is a great idea - if they work out they either play for us and are 'cheap' first teamers or we sell for a profit - in win for me

With the options currently available we have the ability to set up more defensively away from home with Dallas on the left Anita on the right and Klich in the middle and then Empada up top to do some running around . We then have the ability to change to Sacko Alioski Saiz and Wood, not forgetting Roofe and Hernandez if we want to go more on the attack . Pick any 2 from Brids Philips Viera and OK (Kane) in the middle . The new GK is good with his feet. Just need a couple of more defenders and we should be well set. what's your thoughts ? ALAW
