Apparently the Football League were rubbing their hands when they heard Cellino had been cooking before the match on Tuesday. Only to be disappointed later when they found out it was pasta and not the books he'd been cooking! :)

I'm surprised Harvey didn't decide to make him not fit and proper to cook too.

Agree0 Disagree0

He might have done, check out yesterday's postings at approx 22.30hrs

Don't get me wrong, I love Cook as much as every fan does, but the over the top adulation for him is getting a bit ridiculous now. Redfearn called him the 'best academy player ever' utter nonsense when you compare the likes of Milner, Seaman, Robinson, Woodgate, Smith, Batty, Lennon and Delph, who have all played for England and spent the majority of their careers in the PL. Cook's played 20 odd games in the Championship, let's not start getting silly. It's not like we've never had a quality young player on our hands before.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Sort of agree SG as most of the players you mentioned came through when we were in the prem and proved that they could play at that level at a young age.
However I do think Cook is something special and will be a top premier league player.(hopefully for us).
Talking of Alan Smith my brother is a Donny fan and said he ran Notts Counties midfield against them on Tuesday night. Said he looked different class.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think me meant that he was the best academy player that he has worked with. And to be honest the boy, even though early days, can go a long way in the game. Major talent. Only 17 yrs old. Never gets fazed. Proper old style player in my book. Batty/McAllister combination kind of player, without going to far. Just hope he stays.

full england cap b4 he's 21

Agree0 Disagree0

Got to say I think in recent years (robinson, delph, milner, rose, lennon etc) my fav has been Delph although I don't think any could argue Milner has been most succsessful and all round talent. But I do think cook could be the best of the lot and be put in the batty, stacrhan, champman list of modern greats. he reminds me very much of gazza. Very exciting, makes things happen, can do the lot. For me far better than Delph who I really rate. I hope he stays but unless he gets a better team around him he has to go. He would be wasted in bottom half of this league and we need to be pushing for promotion to keep him I fear. I think MC will get a great fee if he sticks around

I'm not saying he can't potentially be better than those, but declaring him the best already off half a season in the Championship is ridiculous. We need to be protecting him and keeping him away from the media hype, but stuff like this just encourages it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cook has yet to register a goal or assist. Adryan has 2 assists and Mowatt has 4 goals. Over hyping again I think

What's with all the commentary? Have I missed something or what? South Korea and the Aussies?!?!?!

Tim Cahill scores just after half time with an overhead bicycle kick. Aussies 1-0 up but a long way to go. Tight game but Aussies gad the better chances. Shame our great club is in the position it is, however faith will get us to where we belong, and that is not league 1. We will survive this year, no doubts about that. Look at teams like Bournemouth and Brentford( my old mans team) and the type of year they are having. It will be our turn soon MOT

Cheers Ed, nice to some recognition for some of the Aussie boys, the team ranking is very low after a good but there is talent there which big clubs are starting to take notice off which will only make these boys better. I love the fact that our team has a good history of employing Aussie lads in the past of which some have become very good players. Let's hope some of these boys can do the same. Ed, with our budget and signing restraints who would you like to see brought to the club

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - difficult one, I mean Omar Abdulrahman stands out as the best player in the tournament, but I am not convinced he would enjoy Championship football. I don't see him as suited to the English leagues.

The restrictions make it very difficult to pick anyone from the Asian Cup, as most of them can earn so much more by playing in places like the UAE or Qatar. It limits massively the available talent, and it probably restricts the club into picking up rough diamonds from lower league clubs around Europe.

Personally I would say it might be a good time to ask in the Prem about loan signing of young talents, such as the Portugese striker at Man City, Pozo I think his name is. I can't see how the club can afford to buy the necessary quality right now.}

Great post ed 1 I think loan of good young prem talent is the way forward, they are hungry to play and impress and if used well could see us climb up the leguae, I think barkley, stirling would be ok signings. On a serious note pozo and players like him might be decent way forward which the situation we are in

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - didn't you have Barkley under Warnock? I seem to remember him deciding he wasn't good enough to get in the team didn't he?

I am just thinking you have a tight budget, there are some real diamonds in the youth teams around the Prem, why not get one? I can't remember if he is old enough yet to go out on loan, but Wilson, the Welsh winger from Liverpool, has some quality about him. Not sure he is going to make an impact playing 90min every week, but playing against teams that will give him space or coming on as an impact sub late in games and he could rip teams apart if you play to his strengths.}

U just described Neil warlock without swearing. Well done ed. the man was ...colin

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree ed and think pozo who you mentioned is a great call and there must be at least four others who would make a good impact for 30 minutes if not anything else. And to be fair to warnock I agree Barkley was not good enough for our team, I mean he is ok but let's be honest he is no green, tounge or super michael brown. I heard from a reliable soucre barkley is a massive brown fan and said he Sir Michael (as he refers to him) taught him all he knew and he would not be half the player he is if not for his time at leeds sat on our bench. FACT

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you forgot to mention that he also said it was sitting near to Colin and listening to his tactical input on the game that helped mould him into the skilful player he is now. But then who wouldn't benefit from hearing messages like '****ing do the ****', 'kick him for ****'s sake', 'hoof it ****ing further next time' and other such pearls of wisdom from the tactical mastermind.}

Very good point in fact you even mentioning now them ed has made me a better player. no a better person

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I bet you are ready to pull on that white shirt and run out at Elland Road as we speak.}

Ready to pull on two white shirts, one for england the other real madrid, bale and ronaldo got nothing on me now

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - a few more talking tos from Colin and you will be player-manager of both too....}

was at game but just seen highlights on tv we had 2 chances and it was all Bournemouth yes they were good going forward but we stood off them but only showed us 2 chances even tele against us so them plus fa and refs but that won't stop us next 2 games can see 6 points coming our way

Hey Ed, what do you know about the Oz goalkeeper Matt Ryan

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is looking for a move, in the summer though most likely, and Liverpool have shown interest in him as well as Son. They had him watched in the Oz-South Korea game. There is also interest from Italy in him, so Cellino will probably know all about him. Fiorentina have made enquiries about signing him to replace Neto in the summer.}

22 Jan 2015 10:39:03
Ed do you know how many penalties we have conceded in the league this season, I think we have had 3 (?) and maybe had about 13 against us. Do we have the worst record in terms of pens for/against?

I can't seem to find the stats on this and if we do have the worst ratio then it looks like "another" coincidence that the FL has on us, not saying refs are against us but if we have had only 2 given/13 against that is not looking good.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I can't find stats on this either. It is one of the most basic stats you would think, but I can't see them anywhere.

One thing on that though, the number of pens can often be skewed by the number of times a team attacks the box with the ball at the feet of a player. If you don't have the ball at your feet in the box, it is very unlikely you will win a pen. By the same token, if you are allowing the opposition to receive the ball into feet in your box, you are much more likely to give away a pen.}

22 Jan 2015 12:46:01
Apparently we have given away 9 penalties in 27 games, the worst in the division .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, I couldn't find it on the stats sites anywhere.}

22 Jan 2015 12:46:51
It could also have something to do with the fact that some of our defenders can be a bit "reskless" shall we say when people get into our penalty area

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes and also, don't forget. Some referees allow 5 yards outside the area for giving penalties against us as well!

Son scores a second at the 120 minute mark, all over and Korea are through to semis 2-0. What a good player

Believable0 Unbelievable0

22 Jan 2015 09:46:50
Son just scores in 103 rd minute of quarter final between Korea and Uzbekistan. Oz up next against China in the next 1/4 final.

Luongo won't be at Swindon for too long after his performances in this championship, agree with you Ed a very good prospect

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Swindon have already admitted he will be sold in the summer at the latest.}

22 Jan 2015 09:33:44
I'm watching the Asian Cup in Oz, MC should do the same as there are some good players in some of the lower ranked countries. The keeper for Uzbekistan, Nestorov, and the midfielder for Korea, Son Heung Min as well as young Leckie from Oz, a wide attacker would all be worthy of a spot in our team. Hey Ausman have you been watching the tournament

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Son plays in Germany and has been scouted numerous times by Liverpool among others, they are looking for a lot more than Leeds can afford for him. Luongo would have been the one to go for, Swindon player, before the tournament, but his price has gone up a lot now.}
