Really hope football as a whole gets a grip on the game AND does not use Leeds as an example. Their has been just as bad recently both from the players themselves as well as the minority, last 3 to 4 years has been shocking. Racist England Captain, Gerrard hitting that DJ, numerous driving offences, pitch invasions - Udders attack on Alan Smith, acceptable use of bad language to officials, Pardews assault on the linesman, eastern block countries rascism! Still know doubt we will cop it.

If you think thats bad, grass roots football suffers terribly, language etc. The FA need to grow a pair and start with the Premier league down as well as grass roots up. What happened to the RESPECT Campaign.

It would not take much to make the FA lead football into a new generation by sorting this.

See Rugby League/union, they already do all of the grass roots better, proffesionals act like proffesionals. Rant over.

Keep the faith, MOT.

I am not nor ever will be embarrassed to be a leeds fan for 2 reasons...

1. That person last night is not a genuine fan in my eyes, all he has done is left some village that's missing an person...

2. I try to get to games as often as i can as i dont live in england but when i do i never engage in any chanting that isnt positive for the team...

So Dave Jones, am I and my 2 young kids, vile animals?

I feel the chants last night were disgusting, and everybody involved, Wednesday and Leeds alike, should shoulder equal blame, even if it is only 3% of each set of fans.

I would never turn my back on Leeds but it is time to turn these thugs away and never let them see the inside of a stadium ever again!

Believable15 Unbelievable2

The person that disagreed with this is the kind of person you're talking about mate.

Get it out of the sport.

A Sheff Weds fan here. Dave Jones comments about Leeds supporters being vile animals were said in the heat of the moment after a game where he had seen one of his players struck by a supporter and also been subjected to horrible personal chants from the Leeds end. He has since said he was wrong to tar all Leeds supporters as such, which i'm glad he did as most of the proper Leeds fans do not condone or take part in the bad behaviour in the same way I don't condone any of the chants or behaviour of our fans.

Unfortunately you have a small minority that want to spoil it for you all and want to cause trouble werever you are and unfortuately this is what is focused on now and in the past. The media seem to focus on these fools at LUFC more than any other club in the country (all clubs have there fair share of fools including SWFC).

I'm glad the numbnuts who hit Kirkland has been found and arrested, i'd hate to be his defence lawyer as he hasn't really got much of a case! I honestly hope that the loyal fans don't get a punishment for his actions and that the team don't get penalised as well, but think that unfortunately you will.

Hopefully we will soon have two strong Yorkshire clubs in the premiership on a sound financial footing soon, and put Yorkshire back on the footballing map.

How can someone disagree??
this isnt about some fans rivalry, its about an person who needs locking up for assault.
I for one applaud a shef wed fan for expressing his/her support and for seeing it in an adult perspective.
Fans from all clubs should unite together againt d...heads like those on the pitch on friday.

I agree with the top two posts 100%! Its well out of order!
There was also another two assaults on the pitch that went unpunished!

Agree0 Disagree0

Who is disagreeing with the Sheffield supporter? I have been a season ticket holder for many years and think we have a great set of fans for the most part. Unfortunately there are a few particularly noticeable at away games who are moronic, violent and occasionally vile. They are not to call themselves supporters just mindless thugs. Other teams also have their minority as well. I enjoy the banter with rival supporters but that is all it should be. I have chatted to all sorts of fans -Arsenal, Huddersfield, Exeter etc etc and all they want is to follow their team just like the vast majority at Leeds. As supporters we should be letting it known in no uncertain terms that we are totally against tis type of football hooliganism. As for the person who assaulted the Wednesday keeper I hope he is put down - sorry sent down for for the mayhem and hurt he has caused.

Think it's about time we stop all this he sed she sed the one incident that sparked all this coverage is the num**y going 4 Kirkland let the police deal with that and that should be your punishment after all the same happened 2 us against palace. see you all in April anybody fancy a beer b4 the match ?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

21 Oct 2012 20:27:06
So what punishment do you face this time.

Last time it was a points deduction for the shambolic management of your club.

It should be another points deduction for your shambolic fans.

Leeds United - Shambolic on and off the pitch.

I'm a Forest fan and our fans are no angels and I bet our new owners are delighted they chose us over your joke of a football club. Even NW said he was ashamed to be your manager.

Believable3 Unbelievable12

I'm not biting mate. Some of what you say is true. However I think you'll find that Warnock's comment were in relation to the one fan not the 5,250 who were cheering on the lads to the end. As for a joke of a team how many trophies have you won just check your number against ours. And i know you won the European cup twice. Believe it or not a lot of Leeds fans were cheering you on as England's representatives. JD

Agree5 Disagree2

Ed's thanks for posting this comment from a so called Forest fan. This is a banter site, he's just insulted a whole fan base. One person does an personic act and every moronic anti Leeds fan is all over us like a rash. We had previous points deductions for going into Administration, like numerous other clubs, not for crowd trouble. Anybody demanding a points deduction should remember the numerous other stupid acts by persons allegedly representing there football clubs.

Agree4 Disagree1

I'm the OP and I don't see what the amount of trophies our clubs have won has to do with this, the mind boggles...

"I'm ashamed to be a Manager tonight"

Is what NW said.

I agree however that these fans are in the minority but I cannot remember the last time a year went by without Leeds fans being in the news for the behaviour of this so called 'Minority'

If you speak to fans around the country they will all say the same about Leeds fans. I cannot type what they say but it isn't pleasant.

So I ask, is the whole country wrong and only Leeds fans are correct?

Agree1 Disagree9

A few things in our defence;
1. A Derby match such as this should not have been played on a Friday night- Leeds not to blame
2. The person who attacked their keeper was banned and should not have been in the ground-Leeds not to Blame
3. Flares on the pitch-Leeds not to blame
4. Jones and saville chants-Has Dave Jones been wearing ear plugs at all previous games he's been involved in. -Leeds the same as every other set of fans - we give it we take it!-Leeds not to blame
5. Was stewarding/police presence adeqaute- No-Leeds not to blame

We will be fined but that's it, and so should Wednesday!!

Agree5 Disagree1

I find this response just incredible and typical of the "we are not to blame we are perfect" blinkered attitude of many Leeds fans.

1. A Derby match such as this should not have been played on a Friday night- Leeds not to blame.........THERE ARE MANY DERBY MATCH'S PLAYED ON A FRIDAY NIGHT WITHOUT MORONIC BEHAVIOUR - APART FROM LEEDS - THIS IS NO EXCUSE

2. The person who attacked their keeper was banned and should not have been in the ground-Leeds not to Blame......HE WAS IN THE LEEDS END WITH LEEDS FANS AND LEEDS SOLD THE TICKETS FOR THE LEEDS END - THIS IS NO EXCUSE

3. Flares on the pitch-Leeds not to blame.....I DON'T KNOW BUT IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN FAIR ENOUGH

4. Jones and saville chants-Has Dave Jones been wearing ear plugs at all previous games he's been involved in. -Leeds the same as every other set of fans - we give it we take it!-Leeds not to blame........JUST BECAUSE OTHER FANS DO IT THAT MAKES IT ACCEPTABLE DOES IT?....PATHETIC
5. Was stewarding/police presence adeqaute- No-Leeds not to blame......SHOULD A CLUB HAVE TO DOUBLE THE STEWARD/POLICE PRESENCE WHEN LEEDS ARE IN TOWN?.....YES.... THAT TELLS ITS OWN STORY

This response is typical of many blinkered Leeds fans and then you wonder why you are are pretty much universally condemned by other fans around the country.

I'm sorry but Its time to wake up and smell the coffee.

Agree2 Disagree6

In response for number 2 he got his mate to get the ticket and he just turned up, easiest way to avoid a banning order, you dont get I.D'd at the gates do you?

number 4, its football crowds, when you have a spell with the authorities, guilty or not guilty, you get it all your life a la Jody Morris, Marlon King, Lee Hughes, Dave Jones is no exception to that

number 5, yes, any derby match should have hightened security, im sure your games with Derby have more security than what a game with Palace would have

stop being petty and jog on!

Agree2 Disagree0

No need for capitals mate.. We can read, you don t need to shout.
Both sets of fans were out of order. Except one nutter who attached himself to us but isn t actually a fan. Just someone who likes to cause trouble after a few beers on a Friday.
That's the point I can t get past. Friday night isn t good for big derbies. There was about 30 thousand there. More than 5000 Leeds fans. Sorry, which other big derbies are played on Fridays? This was a recipe for disaster and anyone who couldn't see that is either very naive or just doesn t go to big games or understand the realities of football. This should have been played at midday on a Saturday. I m sure when the official report comes out, questions will be asked regarding this. I wish it was nt like this, but it is.
For now, you stay in your comfy armchair passing judgement and enjoy your coffee.
Jonny

Agree3 Disagree0

I'm sorry mate I cant agree with all your comments. Your comments are fair enough to some extent but what you have said is just what Jones and the media ususally say. All Leeds fans are moronic. This is not the case. We do have some persons who cause trouble and we despise them. The vast majority of Leeds fans are sound and support the team in the right way. Please do not bracket us all as moronic we are not. JD

Agree3 Disagree0

1. A Derby match such as this should not have been played on a Friday night- Leeds not to blame.........THERE ARE MANY DERBY MATCH'S PLAYED ON A FRIDAY NIGHT WITHOUT MORONIC BEHAVIOUR - APART FROM LEEDS - THIS IS NO EXCUSE - An personic comment really, trouble happens aplenty at derby games, Millwall vs West Ham 2009 anyone? So no its not always Leeds fans just some plonker decided to push/punch a footballer over live on television and therefore this has escalated into something that should have been prevented from happening.

The fact remains all derby games regardless of who they involve should be policed in a much better way than this was, face recognition technology should be used in this day and age so that THUGS like the one who attended this game are kept out.

People all too easily brand fans from other clubs who have troublemakers/thugs, infact I have a couple of mates who are Millwall fans yet due to the reputation they have they end up being singled out as trouble which couldn't be further from the truth.

As for the chanting thing well football is football, how boring would it be without the banter or chants, personal or not, all footballers and managers during their career are likely to take some form of verbal abuse, even the most well liked of players, you try stopping this I'm afraid you take away the atmosphere.

MOT SussexLeeds {Ed001's Note - that is utter rubbish, personal chants make the atmosphere poisonous and lead to incidents like we saw. Try cheering on the team instead and then you might be able to have a better atmosphere. There is never a need for disgusting and false abuse of anyone, it should be about supporting the team and being the 12th man. All getting abusive does is make you hated and drive your opponents on to do better.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Forest,

We might have shambolic management, and a couple of stupid fans (as do all football clubs) but.. we don't burn our trophies and honors, then say "we're the best team in the football league".

Just a thought.

Cheers.

Agree0 Disagree0

What we listening to this poster for anyway, naff all to do with forest or their followers, who are all so angelic,he's just a stirrer poking his nose in, leave it to the authorities. i know lots of rival clubs would like us to lose points because they know we are on the way back where we belong,at the top.and forest owners were never in for leeds ,so they didnt choose florists over us as they were looking for a small club to invest in

Why doesn't Dave Jones just keep his mouth shut. He's a complete S**t stirring tool. All he's done is moan about us for the past 48 hrs. If he spent as much time training his team as he does talking to the press his team might actually be decent.
Maybe we should just put a big old fence around Leeds and then this stupid narrow minded anti-Leeds country might be happy.
Anyway on a more positive note hope we get 3 points against Charlton on tuesday night.

Come on LUST seize this opportunity to make a name for yourself. As comments below note you need to be at the national press, the FA, Wednesday and others. You say you represent the Leeds fans well do it and you might find you just double your membership. I for one am totally sick of these persons who cause trouble. JD

I as a loyal Leeds fan condems the Moran who dared to drag our team into the more. All Leeds fans travelling to Tuesday's match should wear t shirts condemning these low life. This is the opportunity to tell the press and the world that we care about our club. A collection could be taken up for those affected by violence. This would go someway towards putting Leeds back on the nap in a positive manner .

Was there only me who noticed that the ball had gone about a yard out of touch seconds before wednesday got the throw in to score the goal and the linesman missed it. It should have been our throw. JD

Believable5 Unbelievable1

But then again they have an obvious penalty not given...you win some you lose some....having said that the ref had a shocker their defender wearing a scrum hat shoulda been given a straight red for elbowing brown in the face!

Agree7 Disagree0

How about Beccio's straight red for the deliberate handball and Brown should have had one for his scissor kick.... there is no way you guys can feel hard done by, had there been decent officials you would have been down to 9 men and we would have been out of sight before the Lierra incident

Agree2 Disagree4

Becchio would not have been sent off as he was not the last line of defence. Yellow card and a penalty = I agree. Llera should have been sent off with a straight red for the forearm smash on Becchio. There were thugs in the stand, and one in particular has now been arrested. Now its time to get the thug who was assaulted Becchio

Agree4 Disagree0

Beccio did not need to be the last line of defence, that handball was totally deliberate. He knew what he was doing and he did it to prevent an almost certain goal. That is a straight red card by the rules of the game

Agree0 Disagree3

No its not, do some reading

I'd like a rant as well on two counts.

Firstly the person who ran onto the pitch and struck Kirkland together with the sheep that tried to follow will have cost us promotion. There is no doubt we will be found guilty and rightly so and we will suffer a huge fine and maybe an away fan ban. Who will pay the fine? The new owners or Bates? This will delay the takeover, Warnock will not get any more funds for the loan market and we will miss out on new players.

Secondly I am disgusted by David Jones' comments that "Leeds fans are vile animals" I have been supporting Leeds for 55 years. I have never been in trouble and I have never sung derisory songs .I am not a vile animal and there are thousands more like me. Admittedly we do have some vile animals but to put all Leeds fans in this bracket is not acceptable. I would hope some organisation like LUST or Leeds United Supporters Club will make some representation to Sheffield Wednesday and Jones regarding this matter.

The comments below are right. Wednesday fans started the trouble by their Istanbul chanting but of course this does not get a mention in the press, it's just us who get it.
My young son and I were attacked totally unprovoked after the game walking to the car by 4 wednesday fans. Apparently me and him were responsible for one of our so called fans attacking their keeper. This will not get a mention anywhere.

Our reputation goes before us and it is about time some supporter group spoke out against it. It's no good Bates or Harvey saying anything they will be booed out of town. Come on give us decent fans a voice somewhere. Shame the persons and let people know that most of us are the best supporters in the land. JD

Believable14 Unbelievable4

Wednesday fan here posted the same comment on Leeds board sat morning I too was walking back to my car with my 11 year old son wen 4 Leeds fan assaulted and knocked me to the ground luckily some supporters came to my aid but the damage was already done

Agree1 Disagree5

Do you think no Leeds fans ever get assaulted ?! The difference is that in the eyes of the footballing world we deserve everything we get. Leeds fans are taunted and vilified at every away ground they go to. More so that most other supporters.
Sorry to hear about what happened to you and i sincerely hope it doesnt put your son off from going to matches in the future.

Agree2 Disagree1

I have supported Leeds United for 40 years. For heavens' sake Dave Jones has apologised for his comments - so has Neil Warnock. Both no doubt spoken in the heat of the moment. That 'fan' could have had a weapon. I think it is time to stop discussing who said what, charge that 'fan' with assault, work out how on earth he got a ticket and what the stewards and security were doing and hope for better things on Tuesday evening.

Second poster, you stated that no one had come to your aid when you first posted this account of your 'assault'. Which one is it, and make sure you stick to your story this time.

I can't help but think that the FA will throw the book at Leeds for the actions on friday night. We need these thugs out of our club... with regards to teh vile chanting from BOTH sets of fans, these also needs to stop (which i highly doubt will) which in that case we need to show that we are the bigger team and rise up above all the hate and get behind the team for the win (will hurt the opposition more than running onto the pitch and assaulting players) I think i will welcome a suspended points deduction on this case (rather have no points deduction) as this may deter fans from acting like complete morons.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

This person has already been banned from all football Matches. Why does he not have to attend a police station at the time of every Leeds game despite breaking that banning order THREE times? Why did Sheffield Wednesday refuse to allow Leeds stewards to act as spotters on friday evening? Why did they not check membership cards? Why is any of that the fault of Leeds united football club?

Can someone tell me where on the footage does it show the Leeds fans patting this person on the back or congratulating him as he disappears up the Leppings lane end. Most are still in the process of celebrating the goal and wouldn't mind betting some are oblivious to what he's even done. Sick and tired of people making out he was treated like he was a returning hero. Look at the footage yourself before you jump on the anti-leeds fan bandwagon.

Andy, Wakefield MOT {Ed001's Note - it certainly looked that way on the Sky coverage, you may be right that they didn't realise, but it certainly looked like he was being congratulated.}

Believable4 Unbelievable3

Sorry Ed i can't agree. Look at the pictures closely there is no sign of anyone congratulating him by a pat on the back or any acknowledgment. The pictures do not lie. {Ed001's Note - you may not agree, but I watched it at the time and it looked very much like he was being patted on the back and congratulated. Like I said, that might just have been people celebrating a goal and nothing to do with his actions, as they might not have even known what happened. But, at the time, it very much looked like he was being patted on the back and congratulated, no matter how many times Sky showed the footage. You are wrong though, pictures can lie, as can you or I.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi mate. I didnt see the fan. I was watching all the players mob Tonge it wasn't while after the match that someone told me of the incident. JD {Ed001's Note - I expect there were very few who actually saw it at the time in the Leeds fans, myself. Most would be far too busy celebrating the goal to notice. That is something that people forget when watching, how little the fans at the ground actually really see at the time.}

21 Oct 2012 12:42:22
As a Leeds united supporter for many years I was spalled by the thuggary and personic antics of a small number of so called fans. I would suggest that Leeds fans bring banners for Tuesdays match with inscriptions like" we Leeds united supporters are disgusted by such actions and disassociate ourselves with such behaviour. A collection could also be taken up for the victims of violence. This is a great opportunity to show the world and press that we care.

Believable5 Unbelievable6

Sadly the press are only interested in stories which depict lufc fans as hooligans. It would not be news-worthy in their eyes im afraid.

I am an avid LUFC fan and wanted to just add a quick comment having attended the Wallabies vs Allblacks game yesterday. During the game and any stoppage the pa and big screen requested anyone experiencing ay anti-social behaviour report it by txt phone, email etc. Those found to fall into this category where ejected. I know, having attended games at Elland Road for 30 years that this may not happen, but we need to start somewhere before we suffer as a collective. This person should be charged with the appropriate sentence and banned for life. What happened to the membership only away ticket policy?

I was at Hillsborough on Friday night in the upper tier. I heard no racist chants towards anybody, yes us Leeds fans are disgusted at the fan who ran on the pitch, but people are forgetting what Sheffield Wednesday fans were singing.. Istanbul is was started it all off. I hope both clubs got fined for the chants and obviously we'll have a larger fee to pay. But it was a Great night despite all the chants and assault.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

21 Oct 2012 10:08:17
fed up with listening to all this c**p. i was sitting in the upper tier in not far from the sheffield wednesday fans. i definitely do not condone what that person done the other night and he should be banned for life no doubt about that. it was all banter until the istanbul songs. wednesday fans were calling warnock a w*nkr leeds fans were singing about dave jones history (unfortunately, he has got to accept that in the job he is in and i know for a fact that leeds fans are not the only team to sing this to him as ive been at other grounds as a neutral and opposing fans have sung this to him) and as for the jimmy saville chants, i dont agree with anything the guy done (if proved guilty) but how many people on here have heard all the jimmy saville jokes go around then have a laugh and send them on? i would guess a reasonably large percentage again unfortunately, it is life) i am no way shape or form a racist, sexist or whatever but it happens. dave jones needs to look at his own fans aswell. warnock was being called a person (i know its not as strong as jones chant but it is still offensive), sie, die, piggy, piggy die was chanted to brown. a flare was chucked onto the pitch not far from the leeds fans. and then the istanbul chants started and when you do that with the leeds faithful being as passionate as they are about our club its like you are insulting a family member. and when the istanbul chant started loads of leeds fans rushed from the back of the stands down to the front of the upper tier and it looked like the same in the lower tier to defend our 2 fans that were brutally murdered in istanbul. the istanbul chanting is as disgusting as the paedo chanting and the saville chanting. i witnessed countless sheffield wednesday fans with scarfs around their faces fighting with the stewards and they were also chucking bottles at us too. so for dave jones to say all leeds fans are vile is a disgrace, he should look at his own fans too. and like i said once the person is caught that pushed kirkland i hope is banned from every ground in the country. bring on charlton on tuesday night!! MOT!!
London White {Ed013's Note - He already is banned, but still got in!}

Believable23 Unbelievable4

Thanks Ed, enough obviously is not being done then as i have seen this lad at countless away games the last few seasons.

Agree2 Disagree0

He has been banned since he was 16 i think, so if that's the case and he has attended numerous away games who's fault is it exactly? if it was at ER then im sure leeds would be hit with a huge fine and rightly so. I feel for the younger fans because i feel parents wont take there children to away games now, they want to experience the great support and atmosphere leeds fans bring to away games not see that side of thing, I also believe casper was attacked at a game and may be wrong but can't recall there being much said about that.
Lets hope for a great season and the fans are remembered for the passionate fans they are maybe this will bring everyone together united again for the right reasons not the wrong.

As a Wednesday fan (in peace) I would not be too unhappy if Leeds fans were banned for all away games. There were many families there and some of the chants from your fans were vile, sick and completely irrelevant to the match.
To top it all one of your "hard core" fans attacks a player. Disgraceful, unacceptable and unfortunately typical.

Believable4 Unbelievable22

I notice as a Wednesday fan you didn't mention throwing flares on the pitch, throwing objects at Leeds fans, and chanting in a celebratory style about the deaths of two Leeds fans in Turkey? Again I think decent Leeds fans have acknowledged and apologised for the actions of the person on Friday night, but unfortunately no one else appears to want to take responsibility. That is typical.

If leeds and sheffield remain in the championship next season will sw ban leeds fans losing 150-200 grand. eeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrr no {Ed001's Note - Wednesday can't just ban the fans, they can only do that on police advice.}

its a huge derby mate, everything apart from the kirkland flooring was to be expected

Agree0 Disagree2

A wednesday fan " in peace" yet wanting Leeds fans banned?! Oh thanks for that note of conciliation. As for it being typical, try searching the news archive for other such incidents?! If this is peace then dont bother.

Just as a guage of what to expect from the FA with regards to punishment, what punishment did Huddersfield recieve when hundreds of fans spilled onto the pitch, some of whom assaulted Alan Smith at the end of last season, so also in 2012 a recent event if you like? I'm not trying to condone that fool Aton Friday night, but just wondered if someone knows what the punishment was?

Come on lads. Why must they ban us all from away grounds for just one man.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

If they do we won't go up without the support of the fans.

I hope the punishment for Friday is fair and in keeping with previous crowd trouble, look at west v milwall where the game had to be halted because of a pitch invasion, a stabbing took place and people were terrified in their homes around the ground. west Ham got a fine, Milwalls was revoked on appeal, the knob who went for Kirkland will be dealt with but I hope any punishment to us isn't ott. I don't trust the FA one bit, they lack consistency and Jones should be punished also for inflaming the incident, the ramblings of a man walking a tight rope, me thinks.

Think we will have to shop the person in. Don't fancy his chances, he can't run forever. He as put us as a club back many years. Let genuine football fans enjoy the game, not stupid fits like that friday night as I was very disgusted with what I saw.

30,000 For friday nights game. Who gives a sh@t about PL when you get a game and atmosphere like Friday evenings going to be. Been to far to many dreary games in PL over last few years with mates watching their teams. Nothing compares to a good Leeds crowd and a fighting team playing with passion at any level. MoT

Friday nights atmosphere was nothing less than pathetic. Vocal support for your team is right, even mild banter between fans. But Jimmy Savile chants, Dave Jones "Peado" chants, Turkey chants, flares on the pitch, assaulting footballers on the pitch, is not a great atmosphere. It's one where I and others won't take there children. {Ed013's Note - So glad I didn't take my kids this time}

You just made yourself look a fool . every Leeds fan except you would prefer prem football

To the original poster, the fact that you spend your money watching other teams other than LUFC proves your an person!
