I am as disappointed as every one else on here letting in seven goals at home to an average side for the first time in our history at Elland Road, but we all know that this could happen, Neil Warnock has been left with a crock first team squad that was put together over three years by Simon Grayson, without to much backing from our board in fairness to him, Neil will have funds next season and I think you will find a big difference in the attitude of the board, after all we will have gone past the five year clause for paying back extra debt money, now all of a sudden if we get promoted next year you can see us being able to stay in the premier they reckon it's worth £90.000.000 to get in the premier, we would have to pay 60p in the pound extra if we get promoted this year, which I think would be 114.000.000 times 60p equals £68.400.000 that's one hell of a chunk out of your survival money, yes there are no excuses for getting stuffed at home on several occasions but let's face it I would rather have the best part of 90 million to work with for the club than the best part of 22 million, not just for the playing side of things but for the club as a whole, this is the real reason why we have not showed true ambition this season, you can all bang on all day long but it makes sense to do it this way than to loose 64 million quid, let's face it it would cost the 22 million just to build a good enough squad to survive if not more. Give Warnock the time he wants and he will bring us back to the promised land given the funds I hope he will get. No excuses if the board are the same next year as they was this, that would mean something much more under handed is going on.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

I don' want to be picky but I think your figures are a little off.
My understanding is that it was a 10 year clause not 5 (but I could be wrong). Also, we were not 114m in debt when we went into administration, I'm pretty sure that was when Gerald whats his face came in and sold the players, Elland Rd, Thorp Arch and the Goldfish to reduct the debt, before the cuddly one "saved" us.

Agree3 Disagree1

Well I am pretty sure it was a five year clause, you may be correct my figures may be a little out, but you must get the idea that it will still cost millions to pay our debt off if we go up now, I would rather have another year in the championship and have enough money to make the club great again when we get there instead of getting stuffed every week and being whipping boys. which will happen if we go up with a low budget, moral is bad enough now but at least we are in the top half of the table with next to no chance of relegation and another torrid time fighting off financial melt down, maybe ed knows if it was five or ten years how about it ed do you know? and what is your opinion do you think it would make sense to go up with better funding or loosing a great chunk of it by going up this year. {Ed003's Note - I was under the impression the 'deal' ends next year,but this £90m being in the prem is not as simple as it sounds,£48m is in parachute payments over 4 years if you are relegated,some is added revenue due to being promoted and in the first year payments are staggered the first being the end of August £7.5m and then then Jan(£'s??) and then May (£'s ?? ) }

Agree1 Disagree0

Does no one ever think that this money KB is conning out of the inland revenue,
is our money and our kids future. Sorry to say this as a leeds fan of 45 years but we need these businessmen/leaches out of our game.

Agree1 Disagree1

Thanks for that ed I did not realise that payments would be staggered, but that only makes it more important to go up with enough funding to bridge the gaps between payments, and to the last poster, Ken Bates may have conned the inland revenue on this one occasion but our own politicians con us out of more money than that every year, most of there money is paid into off shore accounts like the Cayman Islands so that they don,t have to pay there taxes back into there own countries revenue, therefor cheating us genuine tax payers on a regular basis, and if that isn't enough they go on to fiddle there expenses and cheat us out of more millions between them and that goes on in every party, so just add that little lot up and it makes KB's efforts look pathetic in comparison.

Agree0 Disagree2

I think you`ll find the golfish were saved at a cost of 3.75 million. Money well spent I think. They havn`t conceeded 7 this season!

21 Mar 2012 17:40:14
I understand some players read the banter page well guys if your reading you should be men enough to come put and apologise for that debacle last night. You know very well we forgive very easy and we will support you for as long as your at the club, so come on man up and don't leave it all up to Warnock he's embarrassed and so should you be. Snoddy especially you've got the captains arm band your a fantastic player be a captain and speak to the fans it's the least we deserve.

Believable5 Unbelievable2

Snoddy not been at best . always loosing the ball and can't seem to get past players anymore . i would give the captain job to someone else .i said before they give him it that it would take away part of his game as hes concentrating on everything else .

Warnock Leeds Factfile:

1 win in 6 games

0 wins in 3 home games

6 points from possible 18

First time in history to concede 7 goals at Elland Road

4 points less than Grayson achieved against the 6 teams we have played under Warnock (that stat alone is worrying)

Great start Warnock well done.

Oh and before "the we were unlucky in games" rubbish begins the only game we were unlucky in was against Southampton. So time for reality people.

Believable6 Unbelievable10

The reality is we were better than Southampton and battered Middlesborough and against West Ham battled to a draw do you really think the way we were going that would have happened under SG. Perhaps you should stop been negative.

Agree6 Disagree3

Good post - sacking Larry was a smokescreen to mask the real problems and maybe now it might start to sink in with some of the less cerebral posters on here...

Agree4 Disagree6

2nd poster needs to be more realistic. We battered a lot of teams under SG too, including West Ham and Brighton away, with mixed results. The only thing that matters is points - that's getting worse not better.

Agree2 Disagree6

One freak result and all the maggots come creeping out again, and judging NW after just 6 games is pathetic, theyre still the same players ffs,see the conspiracy tyeorists are out again as well,NW was brought in because SG was clueless, back the boys and give him time.

Agree8 Disagree3

People are still expecting promotion that's why they are judging NW. lose the next game and that's it we may as well just concentrate on not conceding goals .have a real look at the squad we have and decide which players we are going to let go and which might be good enough for the prem league. might as well get ready to sell snoddy now so we wont be disappointed when he goes . roll on next season and hope bates will spend some money . if only bates pockets weren't sown together

Agree3 Disagree2

First poster. Are you for real? Can't you see major improvement in the muppets we have running around now?(seriously pissed about that loss still). NW is a great manager and give the man time with his own squad. Sure your not SG in disguise?

If you think Bates will let him play the reserve players/youth team then you must be absolutely deluded. Bates is a capitalist until the end, and prize money for finishing positions will still be up for grabs in his eyes. So there is no chance he will concede this season until its impossible for us to neither lose or gain a position.

Believable11 Unbelievable4

21 Mar 2012 13:49:43
McCleary is one we should buy as well all saw he is good with both feet and can finish

Believable2 Unbelievable12

One good game against us and you want him in our team, didnt Paynter do exactly the same?,and look how he turned out.

Agree8 Disagree3

Hes heading to the prem league in the summer so doubt we will even attempt to sign him

Agree2 Disagree3

21 Mar 2012 13:46:15
Well well well what a shocking wake up cal for Warnock to witness first hand. Totally undone by wait for it a non-league winger who played for the mighty Bromley. Sign him up Neil. The only positive we can gain from this is that Warnock will now know in his head who needs to go in the Summer and never come back....very embarassed today and I work with both sets of scousers living in Liverpoola big footballer city and I just want to crawl under a rock....ouch that hurt!!

Believable4 Unbelievable2

Theres only 2 consistent players in our team at the moment and thats mccormack and becchio

Agree3 Disagree6

Consistently poor

21 Mar 2012 13:11:58
Personally I think we should get right behind the team, pack ER out every game and shame the pathetic bunch into giving a sh** about our club, the ones who care will play for the shirt and help us out of that league next season, the ones who don't drop them and see whos willing to pay their wages next season after sitting out the remainer in the stands. MOT

Believable6 Unbelievable8

21 Mar 2012 13:04:54
Last night was the reality check we needed i think. Neil Warnock has had some good results with a pitiful squad which have blinded us to the fact that most of the players are hopeless. I never thought the play offs were in sight this season, personally, and if we want it next year there has to be a massive change of personnel.

The fans pay a lot of money and the least they deserve is a team on the field that give their all for the cause. After last night the players should give their wages to the loyal fans who had to suffer that rubbish. We have carp players earning good money and they should be ashamed of themselves. if they arent prepared to die for the cause get shot of them and blood our hungry youngsters.

Neil Warnock is the right man for the job provided he gets financial support from the board which is debatable. Next season hopefully we can make a real charge for promotion.

In the mean time all we can do is support the team as only leeds fans can and hope that last night was a blip and that miracles can happen MOT

Believable9 Unbelievable1

It's all about having carp players, but I digress, I whole heartedly agree with you.

Agree2 Disagree1

What good results? Boro - end of...

One good result - singular.

Agree0 Disagree0

Original poster here. take your point but a draw against west ham home or away has to be a good result surely.

Just your typical tuesday night at ER last four I can remember... 6-4 Preston...5-0 Blackpool...4-1 Birmingham....7-3 forest.

Believable13 Unbelievable1

Weren't they s**t!!??? Rachubka's ER career was finished for far less of a cock up than Lonergan served us up with last night. He should be so ashamed of himself that he hands back this months wages! Clayton? Rubbish, let Bolton have him. Pugh? Ha ha ha. Lees? Good god, what happened. I hope this is the wakeup call those who are swinging the lead need to realise they may not be playing for such a big club next year. As for the fans, i thought they were brilliant last night, even the ones who abandoned with ten minutes to go. It was SO painful that i had to force myself for the first time EVER to wait till the final whistle. MOT

Don't, don't, please..... it hurts but by god youre right

21 Mar 2012 11:44:05
Play off place is still on people, maybe last nyte was the kick up the ar*e we needed for the final push. this just keep the faith and support the boys.

Believable5 Unbelievable11

I really cannot believe our fans can be so deluded. Play offs were and are never gonna happen. We have a piss poor squad, hopefully NW can sort us out a squad for next year but its not certain with our boards funding.

Agree9 Disagree1

This season is over.. This squad needs at least 10 players getting rid of, I think anyone who has attended regularly this season are aware who those players are, the squad itself next season needs to have less players within it ,we must have at least 8 or so players this season that don't even make the subs bench.

Agree4 Disagree0

Keep off the OP, he was only being optimistic; what's wrong with that?

Agree1 Disagree2

There's a big difference between optimistic and realistic.

Agree4 Disagree1

Two really optimistic things that happened last night....
1/ I duly earned, by staying till the final whistle, the right to BOOOOO those Leeds 'players' off the pitch.
2/ It was a sinch getting out of the carpark afterwards.

shockin display last night which proves we need a major overhaul in the summer.... 'first team players for the start of next season we should keep....
Lonergan
Robinson (if he'll sign perminant deal)
clayton
brown (for back up)
snoddy
webber

rossco
white

get rid of
rachubka

forrsell (maybe)
bromby
bruce

and lets sign some QUALITY players. they are out there!

Lonergan? after last night? Rachubka didnt make such a mess as that! Clayton? Becchio? You are joking arent you?

iam seriously still trying to get over wtf just happened against forrest we destroy soton off the pitch which i cant believe we lost beat boro on their turf then as we all think would be a certainty against forest we get humiliated i really dont get it i really hope there's choppin and changin at ER cos that result epitomise what a lousy squad we have time for the youngsters to get a run at least they will take everything on board and learn something from NW cos obviously the shower of s**te thats their aren't MOT i think. :( irish leeds fan

After last nights abomination transfer list the lot of them! And let warnock totally rebuild over the summer , our back 4 are pathetic , Snodders n lucho are the only ones I would keep as the rest are not committed and hearts don't seam to be in it

Believable4 Unbelievable3

There are better players than both Snoddy and Becchio out there as well

Mccormack is playing twice as good as snoddy at the moment

Anyone seen Danny Pugh have a good game,he looked like he had already played 90mins when he came on as sub.can't believe we actually paid money for him.

Believable8 Unbelievable1

This is what I have said all season he is rubbish! And also we should of had Aidy White at left back to deal with McCleary's pace last night

Agree10 Disagree0

Danny Pugh! Ha ha ha I really cant believe we swapped pound notes for him!! and it was a toss up between him or Keogh who we were going to buy. Anyone see Keogh knock in his fifth goal since joining Milwall last night?

Agree4 Disagree0

It all went wrong when white came off.

Agree0 Disagree2

21 Mar 2012 08:14:45
Lets not try and kid ourselves, the play off places are a pipe dream for this season.
Think it's time for Warnock to give some of the kids like young Monty, the Turner twins and young Thompson a run out. Give young Poleon or Lenighan a taste of senior team action as well.
Run his eye over people like O'Brien, Nunez & Paynter (giving them full games/or at least starting with them) before the inevitable summer clearout.
Let the TIRED players watch the HUNGRY players.
We're not going up, we're safe from going down. It's eight games for those on the fringes or those who Warnock's not sure about to prove themselves and fight to earn the Leeds shirt.
Warnock's got nothing to lose.
Next season is when he'll be judged.

Believable8 Unbelievable0

When Paynter came on he looked far more capable of winning the ball in the air and holding it up than Becchio. If Becchio was tired, which NW said in his post-match interview, then why not give Paynter more than a 10 minute appearance?

Agree6 Disagree0

21 Mar 2012 07:56:39
difficult to know what to say but we must keep faith with warnock.how he got them to play like we did against southampton and west ham was a miracle.after all its the same players who played with grayson and they are just not good enough.warnock will sort it out im sure..shrew leeds

Believable6 Unbelievable2

21 Mar 2012 07:24:42
there is not a lot to say about last nights performance... i dont accept NW saying they are tired and stuff we should have replaced them, its madness that our 5th top scorer (ramon nunez) never gets any playing time but NW playes 'tired' players, for the first time ever i felt ashamed to be a leeds fan last night... disgusting

If any Leeds players actually read thIs site would be nice to let us know and as this is anonymous you don't have to say who u are........so if you do I just want to say with the fantastic support you receive how you can turn in a performance like that? To you it might be just a job to us fans it's what we wait for at the end of the week what we spend the money that we can't really afford to spend but we do it because we love Leeds United, maybe hard for u to understand but we put faith in you and pay your wages surely you owe us more than that pitiful performance against a tea you should have run rings round. Take a long look in the mirror and ask yourself this do I deserve my wage this week ? Just think? And maybe the next time you pull on a White shirt you'll understand what it means to the people who turn up to support you and pay your wages and how lucky you are to,be adored by so,many I just hope your as hurt as we are right now

You know when things are bad when Barn Door Billy Paynter gets a run out as a sub. Can't wait until next season as this season is now a write off and we can only build for a great season next year. NW needs to make major changes in our defence and midfield, and we need an out and out goal scorer as we have been very shy in front of goal this year. Those who need to do one:

Connolly
Bruce
Sorry to say (Paddy)
Brown
Lonnergan

Believable3 Unbelievable3

To be fair to Billy, he's been banging em in for the reserves, and probably deserves a look in.

Agree3 Disagree1

Original poster an armchair fan? Lonergan is one of the few good players at the club and Brown has been very good since Warnock arrived.

Can't disagree with the others - and I'd add a good few more:

Paynter
Bromby
Nunez (lacks awareness - flimsy)
Forssell
Varynen
O'Brien
Parker
Going cool on Pugh

More controversially...

White (all pace, no brain, head down)

Becchio (sorry) - cult figure and I love singing the Berbatov song but in truth he has the touch of a rhino, dives a lot, misses too many easy chances, can't pass, inconsistent in the air. I reckon that he gives the ball away over 80% of the time.

I await the 'you don't know what you're talking about Becchio is fantastic' backlash...Actually I do...

Agree2 Disagree2

Not an armchair fan but a concerned fan who understands that the quality we have in the team is lacking. Brown is half a yard short and age is a major factor for him. Will spend a large proportion banned due to the amount of yellow cards he receives through mis timed challenges because he is just to slow. Lonnergan is a question mark due to the amount of goals that he concedes do I have to remind you that he let in 7 goals last night? we need more a backbone of consistent players from back to front if NW can do that with some shrewd deals in the summer so be it {Ed003's Note - if you were to ask Preston fans they always had concerns over Lonergan's ability at long range shots}

Agree0 Disagree0

Which of those 7 could he have prevented? None that I could see from my seat - but I haven't watched any on the telly so I could be wrong.

One game doesn't make a bad keeper - how many in the previous 4 games?

We're just not on the market for a Joe Hart. Lonners is a step up from Kaspar in my view.
