With the U21's getting beat at home tonight! Could it have been down to the coach not having a clue?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol kjc
I wondered if anyone would be saucy enough to post that. I was tempted :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol
I guess a coach is only a coach so long as he's winning games ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Ha yes I like Redders but he is not a god, I watched those 4 games (3 live) and fair play 10 points is 10 points but it could have been very different in a couple of those games.

Bournemouth was great result but we did ride our luck which is fine, Brum was fair result, Bolton we were lucky to win and Hudder was best we have played for a while.

So overall I would not judge Redders on 4 games but he has potential for sure, just as I ain't judging Mandric after 4-5 games, just hope he gets a bit of luck against norwich/wolves!

Agree0 Disagree0

Redders out now!

passing football is good to watch but at this level easy to counter. Simply by pushing up quickly in numbers and unnerving our back 4 as they try to build, so, we should be able to play the long ball over the top and utilise the space which will inevitabilly be left behind the opponents back 4. with accurate (and not just hopefull) punts the pace and finishing of Antenucci will get the results.
Unless you have the money of City or Barca who can dominate teams with pure skill a plan B is a must.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Cant believe we now have posters asking for long ball football. wtf? For years we have been saying we want to watch fluid passing football. Now because results have not gone our way or that we are still a very young new team and coach some posters forgot all the bad football of the last 10yrs and want hoofball again. Get a grip of yourselves ppl. First half Friday we were good. Very good. Yes we lost the second half as we couldn't cope with a different style of play. That won't happen again the coach and team are still learning we are a 2yr project not 1yr. Mid table top 10 will be a great achievement. let's not go back to hoof ball. Next posters will be asking for Pulis who only knows hoofball.

Spain
Nice mate very nice well put ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post spain
Patience is a virtue

Agree0 Disagree0

Not advocating a 90 min long ball game but just to have it in our locker to use when we are being pressed all along the park. If they press and we are tippy tapping then we risk giving possession in dangerous areas. Until we have the Barcelona midfield then let us have a plan B. We have a forward with accelaration, control and can finish. then what is wrong with using those skills? when the time is right

Agree0 Disagree0

Leodis
I know what your trying to say but how many long balls end up with the oposition gaining possesion?

The one thing you are trying to eradicate mate ;(

interesting to read in the daily snail on Saturday that leeds were demolished by Rotherham and we scored AGAINST the run of play???
Just shows what a bunch of Leeds haters they are.

I don't know about anyone else but this is how I see Leeds.

We play well in the first half and in the second half don't change a thing!

The other team identifies where they are going wrong and changes to counter us, thus dominating and ultimately being better in the second half.

Leeds leave it too late to to make any changes or are incapable of adopting changes to suit the opposition.

We lose :-(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't really argue with that recently :(

Agree0 Disagree0

I've only seen the highlights and it looked like their 2 goals were defensive errors. Warnock probably should have tried to get his head on the ball - but there we go, and nobody closed down their player for the 2nd.
From what's been said here, and looking at the stats, it sounds like we're keeping the ball better but not creating enough.
I suspect that where Darko has come from that wins matches, it shouldn't take too long for the penny to drop with him or MC - and if it does then he deserves to be kicked out. I hope he went to see Norwich or Wolves play on Saturday and see what winds games in this league.
I still don't think I'd want us to go up this season - I think it's too big a step and you need the team and squad to be together for more than a season. Look at Burnley to see what happens if you go up too soon. There's a lot to fix and this season isn't long enough. Just my 2 pence! :o)

Agree0 Disagree0

Glad someone has finally had the balls to say they don't want us to go up this season - I wouldn't want us to go up only to come straight back down because we are not prepared

Agree0 Disagree0

Have to agree with you both, bit to early for promotion IMHO

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry I disagree. 90 million is the prize and will give us the platform to be championship champion contenders regularly without fail. We can sign better players and we wld benefit big time by it.

Oh and Palace went up and stayed up, they finished 6th and were very average in the championship.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed003's Note - about £120 million now.}

While the money would be great and we'd be out of the clutches of the football league for another year. :o)
When we go up, I want us to own our ground, be debt free and have a squad of young players to make us a good premier league side.
I'd hope that we can have built a style of play, dangerous in attack and solid at the back. I don't think you can do that in less than a season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Speedy
I said we don't want to go up this year in April and got slated by a few.
Id rather finish 9th-10th this year buy 3 or 4 players next year and push for premiership so we can stay their. If we go up this year we will be back down and won't do us any good.
All in all in 2 years time Mowatt-Cook etc will be just about ready to run riot ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Going up £90,000,000. more bothered about not going down. how much would that cost.

Agree0 Disagree0

3 seasons of parachute payments. No debt and a firm platform to get promoted again.

Not a tough question really

Really surprised at some of the reactions on the site. I was as disappointed as any at the result on Friday night but some of the rubbish on here ain't justified.

Firstly we are developing a passing game not Hoofball - I wish I had a £1 for every post on here decrying this approach in the past, I could retire!

Darko - he will be gone in the new year rubbish

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Impossible to predict about Darko, Grabar, given MC's track record. But I agree. Think we have better players and playing more enjoyable and higher quality football than for many a year. I know some will argue that the results haven't and won't come that way, But I for one am happy to see how the season pans out. And I hope Darko is here in a years time, because that means we will be doing OK

Agree0 Disagree0

Me again! Back to finish the original post that I hit the send key to early.

I was about to say that calling for the head of Darko was absurd its early days -Yes some managers hit the road running and others take a little time to settle and yes some ultimately fail but not sure that 4 games tells us where Darko fits.
Redfearn would have had defeats had he continued but it would not mean that he has lost the plot or suddendly become tactically unaware - I Will agree 100% with BW and others that in the case of Hockerday it was different. It was clear that he was not upto it from day one, a bizzare appointment in the first place

As for the players, hero One week and Villan the next - so many contradictory comments on here - Take Warnock - one week "How can we drop him been our best player " next week "Hes not fit to lace the U21s boots - Its called form and like all of us we have good and bad days this even affects the likes of Messi, Ronaldo and the like.

I think we all need to put it in perspective, YES we lost to Rotherham, who give them a bit of credit played like it was their cup final in the 2nd half and YES they out fought us and seemed to be up for it a little more than we were in and YES I was Pi$$ed off and a grumpy T##T for a few hours after

BUT

1: We do have better players at the club than last year (not perfect but better)
2: We have a acadamy and a top coach running it (again not perfect but better than most)
3: We ain't playing hoofball - Hoo fooking ray (again not perfect but a eye pleasing improvement)
4: MC as the owner is the polar opposite to GFH/BATES (Again not perfect but not Bates or GFH)
5: We ain't in debt and about to go into administration
6: We have great support, again not perfect but as near as damn possible

So I say we get behind the lads as what we have is a far cry from where we were 12 months ago

I think we are playing some decent football, we need to adopt the we'll score more than you attitude, were getting chances to win games but not putting them away .

Just read o/s darkos version of friday night think he must of gone home at half time!! Saying he was happy that players gave 100%! Where was that then in second half? Lol at least give us some honesty mate we ain't stupid darko!! Mot

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not heard that interview Peterborough, but it's pretty common to listen to managers (coaches) after a game and think they must have been watching a different match. Think it might have something to do with what they want the owner to believe lol

Dear Bermondsey White,
I feel your angst and frustration as we all suffer it to varying degrees, but patience my young paduan. Imagine you turn up on set, first day filming a new blockbuster. The previous backer has spent all the budget and there is no money to even pay everyones wages. A new backer is found, but he decides evrything must change, a new producer and director, half the cast must go, the script and direction is torn up and rewritten so the remaining cast have to re learn the lines. New actors are bought in very quickly but some are young and inexperienced so need some coaching, others are foreign to the environment. You all have to bring packed lunches and wash your costumes ( could not resist that bit ). The press delight in telling all the venture is doomed and rascally financiers keep taking your new backer to court for monies owed by the previous encumbant. The new director then gets sacked and the replacement has no experience of this type of film. The expectant public are desperate to see the finished article on time, can't see it happening mate!
